Secret Santa Thank You Thread

I have asked in Site Stuff where to put this with no reply, so if it's wrong can you move MN please? Thanks.

Yesterday I received a gorgeous pack of coasters that we can put pictures in, and a box from Amazon with toys including a Rubiks magic puzzle for my ds's.

I want to say a huge thank you to whichever person sent them. They are perfect and the feeling someone cares enough to have nominated and / or bought for us makes a difference. Two weeks ago we thought we were about to become homeless after a bloody rough year and although that has passed we're still feeling very shaken and it's so good to have some light out there. Christmas stands between now and our ds4 being seen at the Paediatrician's request (for those who don't know ds1 has asd, ds2 dyspraxia and ADD, ds3 asd) and this has given me the Christmas spirit I was missing.

Thank you, I wish you all a most wonderful of festive seasons.

73D, thank you so very much for the lovely parcel of presents for the DDs which arrived today. You are so incredibly kind, thank you. You have also chosen perfectly (esp the chocolates Xmas Grin). The girls will love opening their presents.

Thank you too to the person who nominated me.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2011. You see so many threads saying, 'tsk this is MN at its worse'. Well I can honestly say that this is MN at its absolute best. Thank you Mumsnet and the wonderful ladies who organised this all.

I am so chuffed that the planter arrived: I was worried that it may not get to you through all the snow at your end. Huzzah John Lewis!

I also have a very small parcel of things for your little posse but have delayed posting them as we've had problems with parcels being delayed getting to us.

I thought that it may be you that I was sending to. I pottered around the board once I was matched and thought I may have found you.

It is a wonderful thing this Santa business. It totally dispells the idea that Mumsnet is no more than words on a screen and shatters the notion of the pit of vipers. Since being matched with you, not a day has passed when I haven't thought of you and your family. Your posts shine with warmth, humour and love for your family. You are a remarkable woman. For me, it has been more than sending a little something: you have made me really think about what Christmas should be.

So I thank you too, and will raise a glass to you and yours on Christmas Day. Much love to you all.

So glad it's arrived in time. I too have been suffering with some kind of flu so I posted your parcel much later than I'd intended.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree

Wow, just been catching up on this thread and working out how to name change (I am so sorry not to have responded sooner, been ill and dp working away at the moment in the week,....) and have so much enjoyed reading all your posts about the gifts. I am so pleased everything is ok, (dont worry about the gloves, I meant to write in feel free to pass on anything that isnt suitable). It has been so lovely being able to pick gifts for someone else even if you have no idea of their tastes!

I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your boys, and all the best for 2011. Xmas Smile

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 22/12/2010 23:23

Xmas Smile - thank you 76 - last night I sat and stuffed their stockings (to make sure it fitted) with stuff from you and my other 2 Santa's, and then split everything that was left into 15 separate piles!!!

There are 5 presents each for the DS's from "MN Secret Santa" (usually they have about 5 presents each in total from me and my best friend - I haven't wrapped mine yet!! - and a stocking stuffed full of stuff "from Father Christmas" that could easily have been wrapped as extra presents.

Being able to wrap them all in different paper was fabulous. It's usually 2 rolls of almost identical paper in this house - so under the tree is very monotone - not this year it won't be.

I'm going to sprinkle the "confetti" that came with one of the packs of paper over the living room floor on Christmas eve (after they're in bed) - (silly santa leaving all that mess Xmas Grin) and those shiny stars over the (ready set for when they get back from their dad's on Christmas day - they're going for a couple of hours) table.

And the crackers for then too. And I'm very excited about now having 6 presents to unwrap myself 4 from you, one from another SS and the yearly one from my vicar (which is a huge tin of chocolates - it always is the and shape and sound is unmissable - but it always gets put under the tree for me to open anyhow).

Seeing your message tonight has put a Xmas Smile on my face again - had a crappy afternoon/evening and feeling sorry for myself. But focussing again on the amazing generosity and thought that strangers put into chossing presents for us - spending money that could have gone on their own families and friends at Christmas is just mind blowing.

I hope you're better now Xmas Smile

secretsanta76D · 22/12/2010 23:52

B - a lot better now thanks.
Glad you liked all the bits....it sounded lovely getting the stockings ready.
I loved being involved in this, and reading the thankyou threads each year,
Shall think of you all on Christmas Day. x

Secret Santa 63D thank you for your generosity. How lovely to have an ELC voucher to spend on ds and how dare you say sorry it's not more Shock

Thank you so much I am very touched Smile xx

ChippingIn · 24/12/2010 02:50

Hi all

I haven't read all of this thread (yet) but I see that some people are getting (understandably) upset that they haven't been thanked or don't know if their gift has arrived at it's destination yet.

I haven't posted anything as I feel really awkward about it - I was really suprised to be nominated, but it was lovely to know that someone was thinking of me.

However, I haven't received anything yet, which isn't a problem at all - I don't even know if I was matched (which also isn't a problem), but I feel awful if someone has sent something and feels I am being rude not to have thanked them :(

I have received post most days (and two overseas parcels this morning), but the lady who works at the post office said she posted her local cards 14 days ago and they still haven't arrived - I'm assuming the sorting office is struggling.

So to sum that up Grin thank you to whomever nominated me, it was really lovely and very kind of you to think of me x

If anyone has sent something to a GU postcode and not yet had a 'thank you' it could be me and I promise that if anything turns up I will post here ASAP.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 24/12/2010 02:58

chipping - fgs woman - look at the time - get to bed - it's Christmas Eve Xmas Shock Xmas Grin

Santa109D · 24/12/2010 09:28

Annie,I'm so glad it actually all got to you for Christmas,I wanted to send something that you could use for yourself (if you wanted to,of course!).
I hope you and DH and DD have a great christmas Xmas Smile
(and it has been lovely having someone else to send to - most of our extended family are gone now,and I miss buying for them!)

shabbapinkfrog · 24/12/2010 09:51

Merry Christmas everybody xxx

Just wanted to thank the person who nominated me and my Secret Santas for the wonderful gifts and gift cards. You both made my heart sing out loud and put a massive grin on my face.

My love and thoughts also go out to anyone who is missing an 'absent loved one' at this time of the year. It can be a difficult time.

Thank you again xxxxx

Anotherthankyou · 24/12/2010 10:27

Thank you so much 3D Shock

Just received two lovely wrapped gifts from you...! One for DS and one for me!

I am resisting temptation to peek Xmas Grin

Royal Mail here have obviously resorted to hiring courier companies as it was delivered by a 'man in a van', who looked completely bemused and said..'I'm not even gonna ask what a Mumsnetter is...Confused' Grin

I am so very grateful to you - thank you so much. I wish you and your family a peaceful, joyful Happy Christmas, and that the New Year brings you many happy times

x

IAmReallyFabNow · 24/12/2010 10:39

I really want to know if the person I nominated was matched but have no idea how as I don't want to ask in case they have got nothing.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 24/12/2010 10:46

Fab = perhaps you could email MNHQ? I'm sure they could tell you Xmas Smile
