Hi, wanted to start a new thread to be accountable. Plan to start with small changes and progress to calorie counting. Happy for anyone else to join. My first ever thread so hope I do this right.

@AlienSuperstar I’ve been there. I’ve joined slimming world so many times, the second time I really tried all week then on weigh day I’d put in a pound. This was about 6 years ago and to do this I can still remember the shock and disgust, I genuinely nearly collapsed which i know sounds so dramatic!

I need to get a handle on everything, my downfall is snacking. My actual meals are fine (and that’s true, I have a sandwich for dinner and usually a jacket potato/soup nothing big at all for tea) but i snack constantly. I can go through a multipack of crisps in 20 minutes. I just can’t stop. So I’ve ordered some adult colouring books for the evening to try and distract my mind and I’ve decided I’m not going to weigh myself for a bit either

AlienSuperstar · 22/08/2023 14:38

@MercyNursey it's the most disheartening thing when you think you have had a good week and boom!

I would say i'm the opposite, I wouldn't say I snack loads but when it's meal times I just wan to gorge!

I have been thinking of doing adult colouring for a while now ! in fact, i'm off to check out amazon !

Day 2, I did ok yesterday I had some
crisps but counted for them in my calories and had a healthy tea. I’ve been off for a few days but I’m back at work now, this size 22 tunic is so tight in my stomach so that’s spurring me on!

AlienSuperstar · 23/08/2023 10:56

Hey @MercyNursey

I did ok yesterday too , stuck to my calories, hoping for a good day today aswell although I have my first counselling session this evening so a bit nervous!

I'm around a size 20/22 aswell , can't seem to get below this!

Well being off with the kids is not helping my weightloss at all, complete opposite 🙃
Current weight 16st 1lbs I've put on about 2lbs 🙄
Goal weight of 13st seems wayyyyyyy off 😕

KAMi3240 · 27/08/2023 17:32

@MercyNursey welcome. I'm 5'1 myself so understand how hard it is. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. How have you got on this week?

@AlienSuperstar welcome. Sorry you had a rubbish week with Scottish slimmers. How did you find the eating plan? Did you find yourself found more positive things for your body that week? Sometimes we have to focus on making some good decisions and the scales follow.

KAMi3240 · 27/08/2023 17:37

@MercyNursey are you eating a good balance to stop you from snacking? Eg I've found if I put some salad with half a pizza in just as full as if I eat a whole pizza! Or adding cheese to my scrambled eggs leaves me much more satisfied and less likely to want something sweet.

@Lovehearts82 it's so hard being out of routine, especially if you're going to places for the kids, either joining in with an ice cream or having a coffee and snack whilst they play! Have you got a plan for the last week off?

OP, if you have than much to lose, you probably qualify for Wegovy on the NHS. I'm in the US, where it's easier to get on insurance. I've been on it for two weeks, and it's been a complete game-changer. I'm not hungry most of the time, and I don't crave carbs or sweets. I have to remind myself to eat sometimes. I've never lost weight with this little fuss.

MercyNursey · 27/08/2023 17:50

Im doing ok. Definitely eating less but still eating more than I should. although I feel I’m making slightly better choices. I had the house to myself last night and usually would order a takeaway and get loads of snacks as a ‘treat’ but I didn’t.

it’s been a year today since my brother got married. I wore a size 18 dress and felt
huge all day, I cannot believe it’s a whole year later and i’m actually heavier Than last year!

mondaytosunday · 27/08/2023 17:54

Good news from me - after stagnating fur a week due to being away and eating more, I lost 5lbs this past week. So definitely back in track! Such a big loss probably means I won't lose anything this next week!

Maybe wire my jaw shut 🤣🤣 This week is just about getting everything ready for back to school and hopefully some nice beach days if the weather is Ok, but this is North Wales so you can never tell 🤷‍♀️ I'm still feeling the low energy levels of the Covid I had at the beginning of August. I need to just stay in my calories this week.

AlienSuperstar · 28/08/2023 15:02

wow that's amazing @mondaytosunday

The plan is actually easy to follow but I go off track if I have a night out or a lunch etc.

Tomorrow is my second weigh in, after losing nothing in my first week, I feel like I really need to lose something otherwise I feel I may jack it in!!

Best of luck everyone

KAMi3240 · 28/08/2023 19:20

@MissConducUS I haven't heard of that but will look it up. Last time I asked my GP for help basically got sent to a useless course that my 7yo could have ran 😔

@MercyNursey well done, it's the small things that make the big changes in the long term.

@Lovehearts82 good luck for the week. I'm in NW England so often a day trip for me to North Wales. I have the week off and a couple of trips planned. Also struggling with PMT tonight which is never a good start with food!

OP posts:
KAMi3240 · 28/08/2023 19:25

@AlienSuperstar good luck for tomorrow. You never know you might take a couple of weeks and then get a big loss like @mondaytosunday

OP posts:
KAMi3240 · 28/08/2023 19:32

I've put 1lb on this week. I'm blaming a couple of *uck it days at the end of the week. Got too hungry and didn't make good choices. Hopefully the PMT will be over in a couple of days and I'll make better decisions.

I've tried to stick to my diet and exercise plan I posted two weeks ago - weighed myself today, and am now 11st 3lbs, a drop of 4 lbs. I'm happy with that progress, and hoping it will spur me on to keep going!

Trusttheprocess1 · 03/09/2023 09:12

Can I please join? Have lost a stone this year but it’s a drop in a very large ocean! Am currently around 17st, 5’6” and drinking way too much wine! I have confused myself so much by reading about keto, carb cycling, fasting etc but I know that lowish carb, calorie deficit and moderate exercise will eventually work. I would love to be around 12 stone, so 5 stone to lose. I usually start losing then hit a plateau and panic all the way to the crisp aisle!

mondaytosunday · 04/09/2023 08:13

As suspected no loss this week after 5lbs last week. Still annoying as I was within goal calorie wise every day. Maybe next weeks weigh in will be more motivating!
Swear to god that bread is calling me every night so hard to resist (but I have)! I have a teen here who eats it every day - as do I, a slice at lunch - so can't not have it in the house!
The hot weather will hopefully keep me going as one of my goals is to be able to wear a sleeveless top without being self conscious. But it does zap my energy.

Zanatdy · 08/09/2023 20:49

Hello all, I’d like to join too. I am annoyed with myself as I lost 24lbs in 2020/21 and regained all of it in the last year. I now have hardly any clothes that fit and am not buying more! Once I’m in the zone I’m quite focussed but I’ve got a lot of social things on now my kids are growing up and don’t need babysitters. I need to learn to say no sometimes, though most of Septembers social events don’t have to involve food (theatre etc). I like to do 15k steps a day, as I’m only 5ft 1 and so don’t burn a huge amount of calories if sedentary. I’ve joined a ladies walking group which has been amazing (and the reason for some of the social events), we walk 3 times a week. Did 4.2 miles Monday evening. Hoping we can continue in winter, but not so sure about the 2 weekday evenings. They might turn into pub quizzes!

Anyway I made some bolognaise and chilli this morning, halved a packed of mince. I’ve got 5 portions of each (small portions). I’ll probably have both with a Jacket but did have some pasta today. It wasn’t too bad as it looked like a big portion of pasta so I halved it and had half for lunch, half for dinner. Going to be brave in the morning and weigh as I love stats and seeing the scales go down! Good luck all
