Hi, wanted to start a new thread to be accountable. Plan to start with small changes and progress to calorie counting. Happy for anyone else to join. My first ever thread so hope I do this right.

@mondaytosunday those pizza deals! I have everything crossed for you for your flight.

Kami333 · 04/08/2023 13:24

@PineappleMint welcome. I totally understand the emotional eating and also the role modelling. My daughter ate a whole six pack of mini cookies the other day when I was upstairs. Clearly me and her dad need to stop doing such things!
Please let me know how you get on with the Paul McKenna book, I think I may have tried it in the past but might give it a go if you find it helpful.

Hello, can I join?

Started at 109.1kg and want to get to about 70kg (roughly 6 stone to lose from 17st 2). But I haven't been 70kg since I was about 12, so may decide to stop earlier / go further depending on how it feels.

IF I ever get there.

I am planning on taking plenty of time, aiming to be fit and healthy for next year's summer hols.

I am doing the Zoe programme and am a natural faster as I don't usually feel like eating in the mornings so tend to eat 12-7ish. 5.5kg / 12 lbs down so far and now I want to add a bit of walking and eventually more vigorous exercise.

Trying to get out of the habit of weighing every day as the goal is really to make good choices and then let the weight do whatever it does. So Sunday is weigh day (in theory.. weighing daily is a hard habit to break tho!)

Lovehearts82 · 05/08/2023 08:26

Well I'm still full of covid and feeling like crap lost my sense of taste and smell Wednesday night so you would think this would be the best thing, diet wise. No point having a cinnamon bun if I can't taste it lol unfortunately my brain is wired differently 🙃. I weighed Thursday but didn't update, so here it is.
Starting weight 15st 11lbs
Last week 15st 9lbs
Currently 15st 11lbs so +2lbs
To be expected as I was eating more due to not feeling well and then realising its covid. No idea what sort of week it will be this week but I Currently feel crap, and can't taste so everything seems boring to be honest, may aswell live on apples and oranges 😅

KAMi3240 · 05/08/2023 09:05

@hangonamo welcome, I also need to walk more, how often are you planning to walk, maybe we can be walking partners!

@Lovehearts82 sorry you're still feeling so rubbish. Keep posting even if you don't want to put any gains on. It will help you when you start feeling better. When I had no taste I could taste garlic still if that helps you eat something vaguely healthy. Otherwise just be kind to yourself.

Well I'm over the Covid, thank god. Got my smell and taste back. I just got on the scales and I've put on 2lbs. I'm now 15st 13lbs 😩 I'm off with the kids for the rest of the holidays (3weeks where I am) so avoiding the unnecessary snacks is going to be difficult but I'm determined to have a good result on the scales at the end of these 3 weeks!
So
SW 15st 11lbs
CW 15st 13lbs +2lbs
GW 13st

Hope everyone is well 🙂

mondaytosunday · 13/08/2023 13:23

Ugh @Lovehearts82 so hard to stay on it when in holiday! And glad you got your senses back - my sister did not after getting covid in March 2020. Can't smell anything or taste much. This has not meant she's lost any weight much to her annoyance! Plus she loves to bake 😞.
I'm now down 6 kilos (just under a stone) since July 5. I am away Monday- Wednesday and I know I'll be eating too much!

Gosh, that must be hard for your sister, mine isn't completely back but its about 80% so it's back enough. My weighloss journey has been a roller coaster really, I started at 17st 3lbs at my heaviest in Jan 2021, I lost 2 stone went down to 14st 13lbs before Christmas last year and now have bobbed between 15st and 15st 13lbs. Struggling to get motivated again but I really need to use these 3 weeks to kick-start the exercise and healthier eating for sure. Enjoy your time away 🙂

eleanorwish · 16/08/2023 08:09

After joining a couple of weeks ago, I did my usual thing of putting off starting and managing to gain a couple of pounds! I've started to track my calories again, and am back where I started at about 16 st 4 lbs.
Started walking again, but only managing 5000 steps a day at the moment

KAMi3240 · 16/08/2023 19:32

@Lovehearts82 welcome back, glad you are feeling better x

@eleanorwish I definitely need to walk more too. Maybe I'll start posting steps too

Forgot to post last week but was exactly the same this week!

So 318,500 calories to lose.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 16/08/2023 20:20

Ugh. I've not lost anything for over a week, and I did give in and eat some cheese.
Will be stricter again tomorrow!

KAMi3240 · 17/08/2023 12:35

@OhcantthInkofaname not much then 😂

OP posts:
KAMi3240 · 17/08/2023 12:36

@GingerLiberalFeminist if you love cheese just allow it in your calories. I love cheese but lactose intolerance has vastly reduced my intake!

Hi, could I join please? Just back from holiday and the photos are awful - I thought the camera added 10lbs, not 20lbs! I'm only 5ft4, so can't carry the extra weight. So, I'm determined to take matters in hand. Bought a set of scales, found my old fitbit, charged it and downloaded MFP. I more or less follow a 12:8 eating pattern, but I am going to track my calories. I'm also going to get on track with fitness- using the spin bike and dumbells gathering dust in the garage. My first weigh in today is:

Current weight: 11st 7lbs
Goal weight: 9st 7lbs (pre children weight)

Good luck everyone!

mondaytosunday · 20/08/2023 12:05

So here we are and after a few days away I kind of went off track. This morning weighed in the same as this time last week and back on the grind now. To be on my schedule though I would have to lose 8.1kg (almost 18lbs) in the next 11 days! Ha!
I just refuse to be the same self conscious, awkward, physically challenged person any longer! I have to keep my eye on the prize in the face of temptation (last night I swear the bread was calling my name repeatedly). Managed my 16 hour fast (simply by staying in bed), and now nothing til dinner!

KAMi3240 · 20/08/2023 16:55

@lisam78 welcome. Sounds like you've got a good plan in place!

OP posts:
KAMi3240 · 20/08/2023 16:56

@mondaytosunday glad you are feeling back on track. I always think a few days on track is better than none. Aim for an extra focused day this week and see how you get on

OP posts:
KAMi3240 · 21/08/2023 08:39

And this is what happens when I don't track! Days out with my daughter for summer holidays. One thing I am happy about though is I have listened to my body a lot more so haven't eaten everything in sight.

Can I join? I’ve weighed myself this morning and I’m 18stone. I’m 5foot 1, used to weight 9 and a half stone 9 years ago. I’ve put 5 stone in since I met DP ☹️ my eating is totally out of control, yesterday I just ate and ate and ate. My DP is lovely and says I’m beautiful but I know he doesn’t find me attractive anymore, he’s mega fit and I’m the opposite.

I went on a dream holiday earlier this year and could only just fasten the seat belt. My DS wants to go to a theme park, I darent because I know I won’t fit in the seats. I’ve started turning down social invites because I’m so embarrassed and terrified someone is going to say something to me. And yet I still binge. I’m out of break just walking up the stairs, getting off the sofa is becoming a struggle. How have I let myself get to this point? I’m so disappointed in myself and literally feel in a panic.

i can’t carry on like is or I’ll die. That’s the simple truth of it. I’m a nurse and see the realities of what being so overweight can do to a person every day.

but this is it now, I need to get a grip. I’m going to Calorie count on the Nutracheck app, I pay for it but it’s really good. I’m going to join Apple fitness and start back swimming once a week.

Sorry that was so long but I feel like there’s no one I can talk to about this, it’s almost like a dirty secret that everyone can see

Hi all,

Can I join too ? @MercyNursey you sound so similar to me, I'm about 5 foot 3 and last weigh in I was 17 Stone 5.

I did a plan called Scottish Slimmers about 15 years ago when I was 13 stone 9 and I got down to almost 10 stone, fast forward to 2023 and i'm over 7 stone heavier. I'm 38 and also dream of trying for a baby soon but I just can't seem to get on track.

Scottish Slimmers only exist online now but I signed up last week, my first weigh in was today and I had lost nothing !!! i've cried all morning and nearly phoned in sick to work.

This is so so hard 😫, I'm hoping now i've found this forum, it will help
