Lost 5 stone last year, gained back two - starting fresh today! Anyone want to join?

I lost 5 stone last year through calorie counting and 16:8 (eating in an 8 hour window). I went from 16st 9lbs to 11st 5. Unfortunately the back end of last year was very stressful and adding Christmas to the mix I'm now 13st 5lbsSad

Does anybody want to join me in calorie counting? I'm aiming for 1,200 cals a day, plenty of walking and a treat day every Tuesday (I ate a large dominoes each week which kept me on track and didn't hinder my loss at all)

I will! I put on beginning of year lost 1 and half stone, lock down hit and put 1 and half on...this week iv eaten loads but willing to get back o track and not let being on lockdown with 3 children make me eat more! Blush

Smile3 · 08/01/2021 13:13

I weighed myself this morning and I was 13.5 1/4.

Evileyecherry · 09/01/2021 22:05

I’ll join in!

I lost two stone last year. I felt so much more confident and happy.

Over the last few months I’ve gone a bit over board and I got on the scales today to find I’ve put on half a stone. I’m gutted and afraid of being unable to lose it again and heading back to the same weight that made me so unhappy.

I’m going to stick to MyFitnessPal again and knock the drinking on the head.

I’m sat here hungry!

Good luck ladies.

Smile3 · 09/01/2021 22:59

Hello! @Evileyecherry that is what I have done, also went out today and bought extra fruit and salad bits so I'm not reaching for the "bad" foods which I have to have them in because why should my children and partner not be able to eat them Blush I am determined not to put on this year it's going to be extra tough with my children being at home with the new lockdown but i have to just be strong and kick them habits...also yeah ti drinking too I didn't drink much over xmas but we had alcohol in house and drank on the 2nd but that certainly dont help the weight either so that's me for now....I'm hungry too!

Evileyecherry · 09/01/2021 23:13

We can do it 💪

I can remember how hard it was last year and I’m angry at myself for letting it creep back on.

I’m going up to bed now, a bit hungry - but hey Ho! One day down...and about 30 to go. I reckon if I’m really strict I can get back down to 11 stone in a month.

I’m now 11st 7.

132orbust · 09/01/2021 23:19

I'll join to keep me focused alongside this other thread which is very supportive:

No harme in a bit of hunger @Evileyecherry if you are determined to get 7lbs off in a month.

Evileyecherry · 10/01/2021 11:43

How are you doing today ladies?

One day of keeping within my calorie limit, a bit of exercise and no drinking.

I got on the scales today and I’m a pound down from yesterday - although this is clearly due to natural fluctuations rather than anything solid. However at least it’s in the right direction.

I think this thread for me will be about tapping into support when i require a bit of extra strength!

How are you all this morning?

Smile3 · 10/01/2021 13:36

Hello, I'm doing ok this morning had some toast for breakfast as was rushing round the children wanted to go for a walk but I burnt it off 2 hours walk on the sea front has blown the cobwebs off...had to bath the dog and just having a coffee whilst trying to decide what to do for our lunch.

Smile3 · 10/01/2021 13:36

I'm going to weigh myself once a week on a friday.

Evileyecherry · 10/01/2021 14:58

It’s hard to know if it’s best to weigh every day or once a week.

When I lost weight last year I did it once a week as daily was getting very frustrating.

132orbust · 10/01/2021 15:10

I like to weigh in every day otherwise I can be tempted to let things slide promising myself I'll make up for it tomorrow but as they say tomorrow never comes...

OLLIE2011 · 10/01/2021 20:02

Can I join too please? I need to loose around 3 stone. I've messed around with SW, WW and low carb but cant stick to restrictions. I'm hoping calorie counting will work for me. Im aiming for 1500 cals a day on MFP.

For some reason I cant change the settings and it gives me back my exercise calories so I wont be tracking steps or logging exercises but I will be aiming for an hours walk and yoga every day.

Anyone got any good low cal snack ideas? I find the days are easy enough to eat sensibly but in the evenings I crave salty foods and usually eat cheese and crackers.

Evileyecherry · 10/01/2021 21:00

I have found a couple at Aldi the other day! They’re ramen noodles in a cup of soup and under 100 cals. They definitely take the edge off.

Big fan of a boiled egg, fruit, mushrooms.

Evileyecherry · 11/01/2021 08:40

How are you all feeling today?

I’m two days in, two pounds down (a lot must have been bloat etc) and have 4.5 pounds to go.

Not pleasant when you’re slightly hungry going to bed but it’s not been too hellish. That’s the most difficult thing for me.

stealthninjamum · 11/01/2021 08:45

Yes please. About ten years ago I lost about 5 stone on a Mumsnet thread. I put some on but lost it two years ago. My weight has slowly crept up in the last year and I would guess I have put on two stone but I don’t feel ready to weigh myself.

My plan is lots of fruit and yogurt for breakfast, then salads and soups. They’ll probably be ready made as with dc home all the time I don’t have time to cook much.

Smile3 · 11/01/2021 09:20

Good morning to everyone!

Well done one weight losses for them that are weighing daily.
I went to bed really hangry dare I say it Angry
I guess that's all apart of breaking them bad habits going down to get a snack which wouldn't of been a healthy one.

100 cals snacks
Fruit with yogurt
Cereal bars
Snack a Jack's
Cuppa soups
Celery with salad cream
That's what I have this week to eat.

Hope everyone has a great day, I'm off to homeschool now that's a test on it's own do not go and stress eat Haha.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 11/01/2021 09:37

I’m in. Need to lose four stones ideally.

peaky297 · 11/01/2021 10:13

Count me in 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️
I gained a lot of weight in pregnancy and 1 year post partum I still haven't shifted it (in fact it seems to be going up...).

I've used tdeecalculator.net to work out my daily tdee to choose a daily calorie limit and will be using my fitness pal to track.

I've found cutting down on carbs helps top, but I struggle to cut them completely!

Any tips please let me know !

Evileyecherry · 11/01/2021 11:46

My main tip is sticking religiously to MyFitnessPal, recording everything, weighing daily (but only really judging your progress every week), tolerating a bit of hunger.

stealthninjamum · 11/01/2021 23:37

I hope everyone is well. I had an ok day. Yogurt and fruit for breakfast, soup and toast for lunch, dinner was a pork steak with the fat removed, mashed carrots, swede and potatoes and boiled carrots and peas. I also had a cappuccino when I did some grocery shopping. I couldn’t be bothered to log dinner on mfp but in fairly sure it was under 1200. I am starting to feel peckish now so should maybe go to bed before I eat something.

HappyThursdays · 12/01/2021 13:51

hello all - in 2018 I lost a huge amount of weight (just doing my fitness pal calorie counting plus no carbs for dinner plus a load of exercise) but unfortunately have put back about a stone of it in lockdown so I have started again with MFP and trying to up the exercise (which I find hard because I hate it so much!).

what I had forgotten is how many calories are in cheese. I had one of the Sainsburys 3 bean and tomato Be Good To Yourself soups for lunch (only 226 calories) but was going to put some cheese chunks in to make it a bit more exciting and thought at the last minute I would weigh the chunks and it was 100g and would have been 416 calories! So I halved the cheese and put the rest in the fridge grrr

Staples for me
high protein/low carb natural yoghurt like Skyr or Fage
tins of tuna (these really fill me up, mixed with spring onions, lettuce, cucumber)
boiled eggs

I weigh myself every day - that way I accept the variations better than if I picked a day to do it on I think (it's all psychological!)

hope you are all doing well - this is far harder to do in winter I find

stealthninjamum · 12/01/2021 18:24

happythursdays cheese is my downfall, I love it. I grate it a lot for dc and find that grated cheese takes are so much more space than a block so if I want cheese I just have a dessert spoon of cheddar sprinkled across it. I had soup today and added a spoon of low fat yogurt and cheese although sometimes I’ll add a teaspoon of seeds. Seeds can be quite high in calories but just a small amount to give a crunch.

Today I had the same as yesterday. Yogurt and fruit for breakfast, soup for lunch and pork for dinner but I made a mountain of carrot fries. I’m eating the same dinner as dc at the moment but different lunches but dc like a lot of pasta so if i have time to eat a different dinner then I will try to.

Tonight I’m going to throw some ice cream away. It’s a flavour dc don’t like and if I don’t throw it away I’ll eat it.

HappyThursdays · 12/01/2021 19:55

That's a good tip on cheese @stealthninjamum. I've weighed out 50g of cheese now (it's sweet fa!) but at least I can remind myself of that!

stealthninjamum · 12/01/2021 21:13

@HappyThursdays I don’t know if you like feta but Sainsbury’s sell a fantastic low fat one that has a lot fewer calories than cheddar. I have quite a lot of Greek salad with it.

HappyThursdays · 13/01/2021 07:28

I love feta and I shop at Sainsbury's so that's perfect for me - I will get some and try it out. I also love salads with it in. Thanks so much for the tip!
