Lost 5 stone last year, gained back two - starting fresh today! Anyone want to join?

I lost 5 stone last year through calorie counting and 16:8 (eating in an 8 hour window). I went from 16st 9lbs to 11st 5. Unfortunately the back end of last year was very stressful and adding Christmas to the mix I'm now 13st 5lbsSad

Does anybody want to join me in calorie counting? I'm aiming for 1,200 cals a day, plenty of walking and a treat day every Tuesday (I ate a large dominoes each week which kept me on track and didn't hinder my loss at all)

Can I join please?

I lost 3 stone last year, put 4 back on. Heaviest I’ve been now at just over 15st.

Started Sunday just gone, I’m using nutracheck.

danni0509 · 11/03/2021 09:44

Only eating between 12-6pm.

BuggeringBugger · 11/03/2021 09:47

I'll join. I lost 5 stone 4 years ago, this last year 3 and a half has crept back on, I've been really struggling with my mental health, I'm a binge eater, emotional eater and boredom eater. I lost 12lbs in the last few weeks but I've had the worlds shortest week and put it almost all back on, hoping it's just water weight from too much salt and I'll lose some but I need to address my eating habits to be honest. I started a new medication last week so I hope that helps.

132orbust · 11/03/2021 10:17

So exciting - I have been on my own for weeks and now we have three !
Welcome @danni0509 and @BuggeringBugger
Let's keep posting whether things are good or bad and be a support to each other.

Blimey I'm so so sorry I made this thread, I lost 8lbs and then had some issues with my anxiety so just fell off the wagon but TTC in April and so really need to get my bum into gear! I am 6lbs down from my original weight of 13st 5lbs though which isn't too bad!

Today is a new day, I'm going to be IF 800 cals twice a week and 1,200 the rest (no cheat days at the min as I won't stick to the one meal!)

zeromango · 15/03/2021 09:40

@132orbust well done for doing so well! I'm so sorry you've been on this thread by yourself! 16:8 is fab isn't it it's the only thing that hasn't stopped me from piling all the weight back on to be honest - it just becomes a habit! I usually eat between 12pm and 6pm now.

My (personal) top tips are:

16:8 fasting
Input everything into MFP
LOTS of protein
No snacking
No white carbs like bread rice or pasta
If you want chocolate etc - have it once or twice a week as long as it fits within your calories

It really works! But sometimes life gets in the way. We can do this!

Oh no I killed the thread Grin so sorry. I was 13st 5lbs at the start of jan and I'm now 12st 9lbs. Slow and steady is definitely winning I can't seem to get my head into full dieting but 16:8 upping my protein and lowering my carbs is definitely helping!

OP posts:
132orbust · 23/03/2021 19:15

No you didn't kill the thread.
I had my covid vaccination and have been resting and pampering myself for a week so have got absolutely nowhere so nothing to report!

zeromango · 24/03/2021 09:39

@132orbust Oh bless you - sounds very well deserved!

LargeInCharge · 14/04/2021 16:54

I’ll join.

Bit of background. I lost four stone a couple of years ago but it’s crept back on due to inactivity, booze and eating high calorie rubbish.

Yesterday I cleared out my snack stash, decided I’m stopping drinking again and declined DH’s offer of beer and cake from his shop trip.

While he was out I weighed myself....15st 4lbs or 215 pounds and I’m 5ft 9. I’m not devastated because it’s my start point and I’m determined to do this again.
He brought back a big croissant but I kept away from it. 😂

Breakfast
34 calories (a coffee, no sugar and a twinnings tea, no sugar)

Lunch
284 calories - 2 egg omelette, steamed kale and asparagus. Oil and milk added (1 tbsp of veg oil is the same calories as two medium eggs, 120 cals so will have boiled or scrambled next time). Can of Pepsi max cherry.

882 remaining out of 1200.

Well done to everyone who’s losing weight, I hope we can inspire each other and enjoy a healthier life.

tostaky · 15/04/2021 05:57

Hello, i would like to join please!

I have 3 kids (youngest is 8 years old) and i find i rely a lot of carbs and fat for dinners because they are very picky eaters !!

Cw: 14.7 st
Gw: 11 st

I am at my highest. What triggered me is a friend who has lost weight last week told me she was going to give me her old clothes because she doesnt need them anymore... Confused i am happy for her but it felt like "hey, hold on, i want to lose weight too!" She has been to the dietitian once a week for a year now and walking and has lost 3 stones.

I am on MFP (user name is tostaky if u want to add me) and my goal is 1200cal during the week and 1800cal at the weekend.
Yesterday i had 1500cal so i am working to make healthier choices.

My partner's insurance also has this program were you can get blood test done and then talk to a dietitian twice. I have signed up (and messed up my blood test so need to do it again).

LargeInCharge · 15/04/2021 07:26

Welcome Tostaky!

If your friend does give you some clothes you could use them as motivation to keep going and be all happy when they are loose. Grin

Following on from yesterday my dinner was 560 (quorn sandwiches with romaine but I dropped half a slice of brown bread when cutting it so a bit less than 560). I snacked on 109g of chestnuts and had a couple of coffees so my sort of grand total yesterday was 1071.

Dh made me a coffee and offered me biscoffs.....I politely declined but in my head I was like “You can bisc right off!”. 😂

tostaky · 15/04/2021 21:14

Thank you Large in charge

I like your joke about the Biscoff! Grinit could have been in our house!
Today i aimed at 1200cals but ended up eating far too mich lunch and because i had planned a delicious dinner, i went over. .. about 250 cals so not the end of the world either.

Im drinking herbal tea now and dont feel hungry.
I also booked a dentist appointment today.. it made me feel like inwas actually caring for myself! Not something i often take the time to do.

LargeInCharge · 15/04/2021 23:19

It’s good to take time to care about yourself and going over by 250 calories is fine.

Today my count is 986. I had scrambled eggs instead of omelette today so I didn’t have to use oil or milk so that saved me a few calories. I even had room for a little bag of those Burtons fish and chips snacks.

I tried cottage cheese today (low fat one) and I liked it. I had two dark rye ryvitas and strawberries with it and it tasted like a nice dessert.

I’m 6g short of my 60g protein goal though but I’ll try harder tomorrow.

I’m actually looking forward to Tuesday (my weigh in day) to see if I’ve lost anything. If not I’ll have to start exercising.

tostaky · 16/04/2021 13:40

So how much protein does one need to have?
On MFP i have set the macros to:
Carbs. 50%
Fat. 30%
Protein. 20%
But i have no idea if thats right??

Today is going well so far. I had roasted cod and asparagus for lunch.
Friday is our pizza night. The boys can eat pizza but i will make myself a parsnip soup (got a few to use up in the fridge!)
And then fluffy ice cream as a treat which is frozen raspberries, an egg white and a small spoon of sugar. Yum!

LargeInCharge · 16/04/2021 14:23

Mine says I need 60g protein a day.
150g carbs.
25g fibre.
40g fat.
My macros are the same percent but I usually just check the nutrient section.

Your day’s going great and that dessert sounds absolutely delicious.

I had my usual breakfast and tried a new soup for lunch, Thai chilli kale with edamame, peas and quinoa. It was so tasty with a bit of heat from the chilli and I added a boiled egg.
I tried making my own soup years ago but it ended up like baby food 🤢so since then I just buy it ready made.

I hope you enjoy yours and well done for resisting pizza....you’ve got willpower!

tostaky · 17/04/2021 21:42

I'll try to work out the % or maybe google them tomorrow.
Today was my sons bday - a pear and a coffee for breakie, a chicory salad for lunch and then this evening: cake, prosecco, beer, wine, more cake and a mexican feast! I eatimated 2500cals for the day on MFP.
ToMorrow will be frugal!

I like the sound of your soup. I love soup and i have a food processor with can make them but i find the one i do myself are quite bland... i would never have the ingredients for a thai chili kale soup in my cupboard either.

Ive got two kids for sleepover... im stuffed and tored... i just cant wait to go to bed!!

tostaky · 18/04/2021 19:04

This morning started with pain au chocolat... however lunch was a salad and tonight will be something super light, maybe just a miso soup.

I walked 15,000 steps as well so quite chuffed.
I had an argument with my DP so i just went for a walk. Feeling great!
