Lost 5 stone last year, gained back two - starting fresh today! Anyone want to join?

zeromango · 08/01/2021 13:10

I lost 5 stone last year through calorie counting and 16:8 (eating in an 8 hour window). I went from 16st 9lbs to 11st 5. Unfortunately the back end of last year was very stressful and adding Christmas to the mix I'm now 13st 5lbsSad

Does anybody want to join me in calorie counting? I'm aiming for 1,200 cals a day, plenty of walking and a treat day every Tuesday (I ate a large dominoes each week which kept me on track and didn't hinder my loss at all)

I’m back and I so need this thread. My boyfriend’s staying and he insisted on bringing lots of food for me and takeaways. I’m still generally eating healthy food but also crap like biscuits, cake and extra bread.

I meant to weigh myself this morning but didn’t get round it. Anyway I have skipped breakfast and had porridge and fruit which is filling. While dc are having lunch I’m about to chop onions, garlic and peppers for the next three dinners which will be spag Bol, chilli and chicken fajitas. I’ll have small portions of carbs, small portions of everything really, and about a teaspoon of grated cheddar.

stealthninjamum · 08/02/2021 13:33

Hello poppym. You’ve done an amazing job.

I’m not an expert on dieting but just found that weight loss isn’t stable, one week I think I might lose nothing then 1/2 and in rare weeks 2 or 3. What motivated me was to log my measurements on an app. I often found that at the times where I lost no weight my waist was an inch smaller.

I probably should do that now but I have never managed to successfully lose weight when dc are around, there’s not enough time, I wish they’d go back to school!

poppym12 · 08/02/2021 14:46

thank you @stealthninjamum, i'll look for an app and get measuring. i know my belly has shrunk a bit but thats probably down to the 14lb loss. its been bigger ever since i approached menopause even though i've always been a pear shape.

132orbust · 09/02/2021 07:55

Well done on the porridge and fruit @stealthninjamum and prepping in advance for meals. Have big portions of veg with those small portions of calorific foods otherwise you will be chewing your own fingers and are more likely to dip into the bad stuff.
@poppym12 that is amazing weight loss since 1st Jan. I got to nearly 12lbs loss and then put some on over the weekend eating with the family. Think of it as a small blip in an otherwise great journey!
Day 37
SW:151
CW:141.25
GW:132
So 0.5 off
10.75lbs in 37 days
Better but still a way to go to get back to my lowest last week.

Realised I miscalculated yesterday

Onwards and inwards.

Kat123h · 11/02/2021 09:18

Oo il join please! I just made a post last night asking if anyone wanted to do a weight loss group/chat
I’ve got about 4 stone to lose then il probably want to lose a bit more depending where everything is by then, I’ve not been slim since befor babies and when I was quite a bit younger

I’m starting fresh today , I’m calorie counting aiming for 1200 cals, I’m using nutracheck app I personally loveeee it, a lot easier than mfp and it’s made in the uk so it seems to have a lot more Aldi bits on etc

Well hi everyone! Hope to make some new friends who can help each other during this journey Grin x

beckslovestimmy · 12/02/2021 08:51

Morning all. Hi to anyone new here. I've made it to day 5 of slim fast/protein shake and actually it's not been bad at all. I've had 2 shakes, 1-2 pieces of fruit and a skinny whip bar in the evening and it's been fine, I've not been too hungry. I've had a delivery so now have a few flavours to choose from. I'm hoping to see that the scales have moved on Monday.

132orbust · 12/02/2021 17:55

Welcome everyone new and glad everything is going well @beckslovestimmy.
Are you there @zeromango ?
Day 40
SW:151
CW:140.75

10.25lbs in 40 days
Ho Hum Smile

132orbust · 13/02/2021 10:33

Day 41
SW:151
CW:140.75
GW:132
No change again but glad it isn't up!
10.25lbs in 41 days

132orbust · 14/02/2021 10:55

Day 42
Valentines breakfast so forgot to weigh in beforehand and don't fancy weighing in now! I also had wine crips and pasta carbonara last night though lots of walks too.....
Due to have a lovely Valentines dinner later too (just the four of us!).
DD1 and DD2 have always been part of it too since they were 6 and 9 and insisted we should love them too. Wow typing this I have just realised it's a decade as they are now 16 and 19.
I expect the scales to be up a bit tomorrow morning but I will get on it again next week.
Cannot believe it is Ash Wednesday in three days so Lenten sacrifice fast approaching so I am having a bit of a last hurrah.

132orbust · 17/02/2021 09:18

Day 44
SW:151
CW:140.75
GW:132
No change from Saturday though I think it has probably gone up a bit and then down again.
10.25lbs in 44 days.
First day of Lent - onwards and inwards.
It would be amazing if I could be at goal on Easter Sunday but I will aim for 14lbs off and hope for the best.
p.s. Where is everybody???

132orbust · 18/02/2021 08:43

Finally feel like I am moving forward again after threading water for 2 weeks - up and down, down and up.
Day 45
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
1lb off
So 11.25lbs off in 45 days.
Off to see if I can walk a bit more off now. It would be lovely to get to 7lbs to go by 1st March.
Onwards and inwards types 132or bust to herself...............

ChickenNugget86 · 19/02/2021 21:32

I haven't been doing very well. Kept staying the same weight stuck on 17 stone 13. It's annoying as I have been doing lots of walking, 30 mins on an exercise bike! I was eating porridge for breakfast and poached eggs on 1 piece of toast or pasta salad with simple meals like chilli for the evening.
Massively fell off the wagon this week. Started on Monday when my husband suggested a takeaway, got the taste for it then. My GP surgery rang me for a covid injection and it made me feel shit as I'm getting it as my BMI is 39.... Just made me want to eat more and I've probably put weight on this week. I really wanted to loose a stone or 2 for when I return to work from mat leave.
Being stuck inside all day looking after a baby makes me want to eat shit

132orbust · 24/02/2021 12:51

Hi @ChickenNugget86 - I had given up on this thread but see I am not alone so I'll update:
Day 51
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
No change
So 11.25lbs off in 51days - treading water a bit at the mo but maybe some movement tomorrow.

132orbust · 25/02/2021 09:34

Day 52
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
11.25lbs in 52 days
Cannot seem to get into this last 7lbs and wonder if a fast day rather than a 16:8 might be the answer... decisions, decisions... of course it could be the cheese and biscuits last night that meant the scales did not move....
Must confess I was on another thread where a lady lost her husband yesterday to a heart attack and it brought back some memories for me and it really did make me think that I am crazy to be so bothered by a few smelly ounces!!
On the other hand I have that wardrobe full of lovely dresses... Decisions, decisions said 312orbust as she puts on her walking shoes to walk 'with' her friend who is 200 miles away.
Onwards anyway!

132orbust · 03/03/2021 10:29

It all went quiet but I thought I would come back in case someone else does
So guess just what I weighed in at today??
Well it is pretty much the same as I weighed for the last 3 weeks.
Day 58
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
11.25lbs in 58 days
I really do think a fast day might be the only way to get this going again and no better day than today.
Last meal was finished at 7.30 last night so I will go through until 7.30 tonight - I will have tea as I mainline tea.

132orbust · 04/03/2021 12:53

Day 59
SW:151
CW:139.5
GW:132
0.25lb off - the fast worked but for how long?
11.5lbs in 59 days

132orbust · 05/03/2021 09:01

The fast worked and I carried the loss plus another 0.25lb - Yay after 3 weeks. I have to be moving forward as it is Lent and when Easter comes I want to ease up a bit and maintain so I need to get close to goal by then.
Day 60
SW:151
CW:139.25
GW:132
0.25lb off -
11.75lbs in 60 days
P.S. Where is everybody??

132orbust · 06/03/2021 12:18

Weekend treat here last night so not down but not up either:
Day 61
SW:151
CW:139.25
GW:132
11.75lbs in 61 days
Happy enough with that.
Where is everyone??

132orbust · 09/03/2021 07:51

I keep posting in the hope I'll bump the thread and some people will come back.
Day 64
SW:151
CW:139
GW:132
12lbs in 64 days
Another 0.25lbs - I am pleased about that on a Tuesday as I may get a bit more off before the weekend to get under the '7lbs to go' This last lb loss has taken ages. I cannot give up if I want to get where I am going.

132orbust · 10/03/2021 08:06

A thread on my own - doo bee doo bee doooooooo
Day 65
SW:151
CW:138.5
GW:132
Another 0.5lb off
12.5lbs in 65 days
6.5lbs to go ( and then I'll take a look and see what I reckon)

132orbust · 11/03/2021 09:22

Well I am so happy this morning - three weeks treading water and all of a sudden I seem to be on a losing streak again these last few days. I wonder if it was the fast last week and then an enjoyable weekend of decent food but not going mad. Who knows!
Day 66
SW:151
CW:138
GW:132
Another 0.5lb off
13lbs in 65 days
6lbs to go (and then I'll take a look and see what I reckon)
Onwards and inwards.

25yearsnhsworker · 11/03/2021 09:24

Wow your loss was amazing.
Do you use an app to track calories?

132orbust · 11/03/2021 09:42

OMG! There is someone out there!!
hello @25yearsnhsworker
I don't use anything to track calories consumed. I use my Fitbit to track calories burned. I do 16:8 and weigh in every day because I know if I don't I'll let things slide.
I think you know how whether something is calorific or not and you have a good idea whether eating it means you can get away with a 30 minute walk or you'll be out there for 2 hours!
It's all about my lovely clothes for me so if I ever feel tempted to have something 'just because' I get something out of the wardrobe and look at it and then I don't bother.
Having said that I still eat some high calorie meals but just watch what I'm eating at other meals on that day or if the scales are really up the next day, cut back that day.
It's nice to have a friend on hereGrin
I am on another thread which is busy but I want to keep this one alive too.
