1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Good luck!

lou967 · 15/05/2020 08:55

@overnightangel thanks. I'll keep posting what I'm eating/feeling etc.

Porridge with skimmed milk this morning. Tasted awful as I usually have semi-skimmed or whole milk. I'm sure it'll taste better as I get used to eating it.

Good luck! People will spout shit to you about "not enough calories...starvation mode"...ignore

The reddit forums r/loseit and r/1200isplenty are a great resource for CICO.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 11:32

@stevienickssleeves I did it a few years ago. I did get a few negative comments but I did lose the weight. Thanks for your vote of confidence. I will check out reddit.

You get used to skimmed milk. I can't bear full fat milk now 🤢 even half fat is too creamy. Oat milk is good on porridge too. I add a little cocoa powder and the same of drinking chocolate and it makes it a treat.

I lost two stone calorie counting (no exercise) but have since found 10lbs by eating everything I see since lockdown.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 11:34

@barbedemaman i'm hoping my tastebuds change. You achieved an amazing loss. Stick at it. Lockdown is proving to be a challenge for others too. Stay strong. You can do it!

I'm doing low carb calorie counting. Can't stand skimmed milk in anything but a latte. So I have Isey Skyr yoghurt as it's low calorie and low carb (icelandic yoghurt is naturally like this and high protein, plus super thick), with berries or dried fruits and nuts for breakfast. Have to be careful which brand of Skyr as not all are equal. Went for the only brand we also found in icelandic supermarkets. A lot of carbs I cut out of a meal and have a salad, or make a bread substitute from low carb flours. Working so far, as I've lost a 2kg over two weeks (I didn't measure the 3 weeks before as since lock down I stopped as much exercise and let water weight changes etc take effect, last 2 weeks are 5 weeks into new regime, other losses were recorded in those first 3 weeks) I love recipes from slim palet (though don't check out his YouTube cause it's carb heaven now, his recipes from his weight loss are SO GOOD)

Justjoshin22 · 15/05/2020 11:59

Good luck!! I’m doing this too, post baby weight needs to go.

Porridge is a star breakfast, though I have been having semi skimmed milk. Eggs are good too, and the skyr yoghurt with berries and a few walnuts.

Keep us posted op. X

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:03

@justjoshin22 I do like eggs but don't think I could eat them in the morning. How much do you want to lose?

I wouldn't bother with the skimmed milk. I prefer to cut portion sizes down. I find full fat makes me feel fuller!Grin

However, we had to get semi skimmed milk the other day because there was no full fat. We got filtered, and it seems to taste creamier than the normal version. So you could try filtered milk, it has less sugar in too.

veryvery · 15/05/2020 12:12

Oh and I've lost about 3 stone from cutting down portion sizes. Similar calories to you. Sometimes less. I run 6 miles every day and have plenty of energy!GrinI increase non starchy vegetables or salad to fill the plate. I miss my hefty portion of salad and veg now if I don't have it.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:12

@veryvery I cant stomach full fat. I usually have semi skimmed but decided to get skimmed as its lower calories. I used to use skimmed before when I lost weight. I just need to get used to the taste.

@veryvery how long did it take you to lose 3st?

OP posts:
veryvery · 15/05/2020 12:16

Erm, first two about a year and the last stone about a year. I have gained muscle, though through running and strength exercises.

I log everything through the FitBit app. Very easy.Smile

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:17

@veryvery slow and steady. Well done. I'm just hoping I can fit into a 28 waist.

OP posts:
veryvery · 15/05/2020 12:18

Went from a BMI of 27.2 to 21.1.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:19

Similar to what I am starting at now.

veryvery · 15/05/2020 12:19

I think the slow and steady is partly my age, though. I'm peri-menopausal.

RealityCheck24601 · 15/05/2020 12:20

Just hopped on to say have you tried almond or coconut milk with your porridge? Lower in calories than skimmed but makes a lovely creamy porridge!
I love my 501s, best of luck with the weight loss!

veryvery · 15/05/2020 12:20

Went from a size 14 to a size 10.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:20

I'm looking at my jeans and thinking how did I ever fit in them. They look so small. I musn't give up.

OP posts:
lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:22

@RealityCheck24601 I do like almond milk but I've heard its not got as much vitamins or goodness as Milk? I could be wrong though. Thanks for your help and idea though :) A fellow 501 wearer.

@veryvery amazing results. Size 10 is a great size.

The Arla BOB milk is lovely and apparently the same fat as skimmed milk , you seriously can’t tell the difference between it and semi skimmed cravendale . Good luck .
