I am at my highest weight since being pregnant 10 years ago. I am 14 stone and 5ft 6.
I just couldn't stop eating/ bingeing and saw myself go above 12, 13 and now at 14 stone. All put on in a year - a stressful year.

I've resorted my fitbit, got the app and walked 5k yesterday and today with an aim to eat 1200 calories. But food is my mental comfort. Gah
I need new clothes now I'm too fat for everything I own.

Can I join? Hoping this thread might help keep me on the right path for a bit.

Got the Fitbit out again a couple of weeks ago so concentrating to trying to keep my step count up and not binge eating when I get home from work.

11st 1 this morning so have lost 6lb since I weighed myself 3 weeks ago.

Todayillbebetter · 27/08/2018 12:35

Thanks everyone! Welcome Rafals you sound like you're already well on the way! My target weight is where you're at now Grin

I’m a lot shorter than you. Grin

And I’ve lost those same 6lb a lot in the last 12 months. It’s the next stone and a half that’s the problem.

ThrownMuse · 27/08/2018 14:12

Hello, Rafals! And welcome.

To answer your questions Ducki, I'm keeping an eye on my calories on MFP, but this is because I have the time and am not sleep deprived! It's much easier being 'good' when you have a decent amount of sleep and your sugar needs aren't bouncing all over the place. So cut yourself your slack on your will power. You aren't to blame on wanting a perk.

I also have a big appetite, and could eat carbs for England, so I find that upping my protein (boiled eggs are good for this, cheap, quick, low cal) quells that carb addiction quite a lot. So lots of chicken, tinned tina (with a SMALL spoon of mayo it goes a long way, esp on a big salad).

I am eating the same stuff as the family (fuck cooking three dfferent meals), but eating a smaller portion with more veg. I am avoiding wine for now as this is my undoing; not just the wine calories, but the sod-it calories, the next day mop-up calories and it also really disrupts my sleep (and you know how that feels).

I'm not worrying too much about exercise for weight loss, as I will do this whatever my size (esp swimming). It's more for my mental health (I'm studying f/t so need fresh air and screen breaks!).

JustTheLemons · 27/08/2018 14:22

Good work guys! Nice to see so many of us here!

I’m 14:08 today so have lost 2 pounds. Could have been better, but then I could have done better early week! I’ve been very strict with myself since Friday- went to a party and didn’t eat a thing, despite obsessing over a blueberry and lemon muffin. I ended up pinching one and putting it in the freezer to eat in a few weeks! So silly!

I’m heading off to the new Forest on Friday 21st so I will be strict until then. Would love to be in the 13 zone by then, so circa 9 pounds to lose in 3.5 weeks. Possible I think?!?

How was everyone’s weekend?

ThrownMuse · 27/08/2018 18:41

Lemons we've all been there!

I think 9 pounds in 3 weeks is possible but will take ninja like focus!

JustTheLemons · 27/08/2018 19:15

Indeed- something which I have been lacking! I will be on project ninja from now on- carb free this week!

Todayillbebetter · 27/08/2018 19:38

Justthelemons: I'm aiming for a similar loss. I want to be 11.7 for November but I'm going to have to be massively focussed. Just hoping I can keep going, chipping away at the fat.
If anyone has a Fitbit you will LOVE the group mentioned up thread 😁

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/08/2018 20:21

Good will power there lemons.

Not loving my Fitbit today. It’s telling me I need another 1,700 steps to reach my target. I’m not going out again.

ThrownMuse · 27/08/2018 21:01

I wish I had a fitbit but instead have an old fashioned step counter which you clip on to your waistband!

Sorry yours is misbehaving Rafal!.

Today 11.7 is my goal weight, but as that's four stone I think my ETA is nearer March!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/08/2018 21:20

I’m not sure it’s the Fitbit that’s misbehaving. More the decision to sit on the sofa and watch TV/ listen to My Dad wrote a porno all afternoon.

The half hr NHS strength and flex workout and the evening walk weren’t quite enough to make up for it.

duckii · 27/08/2018 21:45

You can do it @JustTheLemons !

Can anyone recommend a good Fitbit ?

ThrownMuse · 27/08/2018 21:50

Tomorrow is a new day, Rafal and sometimes a day on the sofa is what we need.

JustTheLemons · 27/08/2018 22:40

Thanks everyone! It’s so nice having this thread to come and complain on! Haha

I’ve been feeling on top form today. Something about a Monday really spurs me on. Really looking forward to a full energy week- let’s hope we’ve all got some good numbers on the scale this time next Monday!

ThrownMuse · 28/08/2018 07:48

I agree Lemon!

What is everyone up to today? I'm taking DS to get his hair cut then meeting up with a friend and her kids in a local park.

Managed 13k steps yesterday just by pottering about. It's always nice when they rack up without having to think too hard about doing them.

Rafals what's the NHS work out?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 28/08/2018 18:04

It’s the NHS strength and flex podcast. It’s supposed to complement the couch to 5k one. www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/strength-and-flex-exercise-plan/

I possibly didn’t need to start at Week 1 and I’m skipping the bit needing the railings/shoulder height bars.

Been on my feet all day at work so am at about 8600 steps before I’ve even got home. Agree about it being nice when they rack up without you doing anything.

ThrownMuse · 28/08/2018 18:33

Thanks Rafal. I'll take a look.

Well done on the steps. Sounds like you have had a busy day! Despite being out all day I seem to have only managed 8200. I need to run around the garden.

How is everyone else doing?

Todayillbebetter · 28/08/2018 19:16

Oh I'm a terrible terrible person. .....
My husband took me out for dinner and I did not choose wisely. I lost my mind. What a fecking disaster of a weak woman I am. .....
I did do my walk though!! Oh Christ.

Today! Get a grip! You had a lovely dinner with your husband and a wonderful day! Do not give in to guilt or feelings of weakness. It would be a sorry life if we couldn't enjoy these impromptu moments.

Tomorrow is a new day. Count it in and move on, sister. We're making life changes, they will take time (urgh, cliche overload).

I've got my brother and new partner coming to stay this weekend and believe me, I'll be eating and drinking and enjoying our time together.

Todayillbebetter · 28/08/2018 19:31

Thrownmuse: that was the equivalent of a slap round the face with a wet fish!! Thank you GrinGrin
Completely what I needed haha

I hope you have a marvellous weekend with family. I've never been so grateful for being part of a forum to keep it real. I feel better alreadyFlowersFlowers

OP posts:
ThrownMuse · 28/08/2018 19:45

I meant it kindly! One blip and I can over eat for YEARS!

And it is thanks to you that we are here. So: Flowers

We will edge downwards, slowly!

mychildrenarebarmy · 28/08/2018 20:04

Can I join you? I have also been posting on another (very recent) thread where we are all of similar height/weight but so much of what you all say re. how you eat (and can go off track) resonates. I have gained and lost the same few pounds in the last 5 months after swearing I was finally going to crack it. I had some success a few years back, losing 1st 5lbs but regained nearly all of it. I have a fitbit which I have linked to a my fitness pal account. I’ve been ‘trying’, and failing, to lose weight for over 20 years and know full well that my biggest problem is emotional eating.

pinkpeoniesplease · 28/08/2018 20:12

Can I join too please!

I'm around 5'3'' and about 14 stone. Every other day I plan to start some diet or other and it's just not happening for me at the moment...
I swing between self loathing and living my best life Grin There always seems to be a reason to indulge, I need to get a grip!

InTheNorth123 · 28/08/2018 20:14

Hi all. Please can I join you? I am 5ft 7 and weigh 12st 7lbs. I'd like to lose 3 stone in total and would ideally like to lose 2lbs a week initially to kick start my loss, or I lose motivation!

I think I'm going to do the 5:2 to get me started, and still calorie count on the non-fasting days. Then once I've lost some weight I'll probably continue with calorie counting only.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has tried CBT? I'm tempted to try it. I definitely use food as an emotional crutch due to bad childhood and an abusive adult relationship.

Todayillbebetter · 28/08/2018 20:16

My goodness - of course you can join! So nice to have you. No one need be embarrassed here...we know how complex eating habits are and what effect it can have on our lives.
This is a thread to support, vent, confess and renew our determination to lose weight slowly but surely whilst still living life!
