I am at my highest weight since being pregnant 10 years ago. I am 14 stone and 5ft 6.
I just couldn't stop eating/ bingeing and saw myself go above 12, 13 and now at 14 stone. All put on in a year - a stressful year.

I've resorted my fitbit, got the app and walked 5k yesterday and today with an aim to eat 1200 calories. But food is my mental comfort. Gah
I need new clothes now I'm too fat for everything I own.

Well said Today! Welcome!

No guilt, no shame, just a quiet determination to lose weight in whatever way works for each of us.

JustTheLemons · 28/08/2018 21:25

Don’t think twice about it OP! You need to have indulgent moments- it’s indulging every day we need to work on!

I’m fully planning on eating my body weight in food when I go on my weekend away at the end of September- but I’m hoping to earn it!

Todayillbebetter · 28/08/2018 21:31

Thanks Justthelemons! You're right. I had a mad panic about weigh in but what will be will be!!

OP posts:
ThrownMuse · 28/08/2018 21:54

Yes! What Lemons said!

As usual I have gone to bed to avoid eating. DS is at a holiday club tomorrow and I have a to do list which should keep me busy and away from snacking.

Also out for drinks on Fri but I am going to drive. Otherwise I will binge, then feel crap when my brother comes, binge again then self destruct completely.

Sound familiar? Grin

Todayillbebetter · 28/08/2018 22:10

Great plan Thrown....well done for doing your best! And yes, sounds all too familiar !

I've woken up hungry: I think today is going to be a tough one!

Going to pack in more protein and make a huge prawn curry for later with lots of spinach and lentils. It's grey here and I want soup...but wirh soup comes bread, one of my binge foods.

How is everyone else doing today?

mychildrenarebarmy · 29/08/2018 08:51

I’ve woken up and weighed for a starting point (again!). 12st 8lbs. That is 1lb less than I was in May but also 3lbs more than I was a month ago. Looking back on the weeks in between I can see that, if I’d been able to get my head round semsible eating I could have lost a stone relatively painlessly by now. I suppose looking backwards isn’t going to do me any favours so will forget that.

I’ve had breakfast - ready brek with some homemade lemon curd stirred through. Just packing my lunch for work and trying to work it round dinner as DH and I are having a dine in meal this evening. I find MFP helpful for that sort of thing. I’ve put breakfast and dinner in and can see how much I can sensibly eat for lunch. I’m going to do some extra walking today and have looked up the brain over binge podcast to start listening to. I am nowhere near as bad as I used to be, and did address the worst of it in my 20s but have been aware that bad habits have crept back in.

ThrownMuse · 29/08/2018 09:30

Hi, mychildren. That all sounds like really sensible plan, well done for being on top of it. I think that's all we can do, be on top when we can, and not self-destruct too much on binge days.

And you are right to not look back. I think every time we do the 'new start dance' we set ourselves up to fail. Kids, partners, work, family, it all takes so much juggling. No wonder we get lost in the middle of it sometimes.

I'm on MFP, too. I like the action of plotting it all in, and I find it helpful. It makes the weekly weigh in a bit more exciting too. This thread is also a life line.

It's raining heavily here, and I'm working from home. DS is at a holiday club thank goodness, as he'll get lots of exercise. Working from home can be v dangerous for me, but I'm having a baked spud and beans for lunch, and one of those 10 calorie jelly pots. I also have some low calorie instanst soups if I need a quick fix!

How is everyone else getting on?

Todayillbebetter · 29/08/2018 10:08

Morning, I'm feeling very lazy today. Need to get some housework done and washing. Also need to start making some new school uniform for my children.
Once that's all done I'll go for a walk. Food wise I'm going to have soup (no bread, which is very hard), and melon for snack. Dinner is homemade chicken pie and beg but I'll have mainly vegetables. More melon later if I'm hungry. Hope everyone has a great day 😉

OP posts:
ThrownMuse · 29/08/2018 10:17

Hang on, Today - you are making uniform? That is amazing! I can barely write my DS's name neatly with a Sharpie!

Todayillbebetter · 29/08/2018 10:24

Haha terrible typo.....labelling uniform. My kids would never tolerate that 😂😂😂

ThrownMuse · 29/08/2018 10:56

Phew...I was about to go and hang my head in shame in the corner.

mychildrenarebarmy · 29/08/2018 15:22

I’ve done the uniform labelling, I found a large bagful was quite handy for keeping me busy and away from picking at food. 😁

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 29/08/2018 16:43

Afternoon everyone, I sort of forgot I was on this thread Grin

I weighed in on Monday after my first week of calorie counting and had lost 5lbs so yippee. I always tend to have a big loss in the first week of any new 'diet' so I am not expecting much, if anything, this coming Monday.

Back to read the thread and catch up Smile

Todayillbebetter · 29/08/2018 16:47

Well done Lagertha!! Wonderful news. I must be honest and say I'm not being hugely focussed. I've kind of remembered that I'm really cracking down in September and I need to enjoy the last few days of my holiday. As long as I'm not having full binges and am below 1800 cals I'm already halving what I've been putting away 🐖 Besides, once I get back to work there's little time to eat. I'm off out for my walk soon.

Can I join in? I’m 5 feet 8 and weigh an astounding 16 st 11. I’ve spent the whole of this year ping ponging around between this and 16 st 9 or 13.
I’ve tried to do the new weight watchers but I can’t get my head around it, so hoping that MFP and Fitbit might help.
I’d like to get 5 stone off but that’s too big to think about so i’m Working at a stone at a time....

ThrownMuse · 29/08/2018 18:50

Nice distraction people, I really need to get labelling uniform too.

And well done Lager! Awesome loss. That often happens to me, too - big loss the fist week then it slows right down and I can't be arsed. Determined this time to stick with it, even the dribs and drabs.

Today I think you are doing fabulously considering you are still on holiday. And the fact that you are adjusting now means not such a big shock next week.

Welcome, French. One pound at a time is my motto. The bigger picture is way too daunting!

I've kept on track today with food though a pitiful step count (7k). DS was at a holiday club so I took advantage of having a block of quiet study time and thus barely moved. This is what piled the weight on this year; no way am I doing that again. He's there again tomorrow but I have to go into the office so should ramp up a decent step count.

Everyone else ok?

mychildrenarebarmy · 29/08/2018 19:25

Not so distracting is baking! I keep a stock of cakes sliced, wrapped and frozen for lunchboxes. I have no off switch when it comes to sweet stuff so doing that means I can’t just eat it all. In preparation for back to school next week I decided to get some made today.

duckii · 29/08/2018 19:36

So after a week away at the in-laws and no chance to eat healthy or walk lots.. I weighed myself and I'm exactly the same! Quite glad actually as I was expecting to put on lots!

Hoping for a better week now I'm finally back at home.

ThrownMuse · 29/08/2018 19:50

I think you deserve a medal Duckii! Well done!

Todayillbebetter · 29/08/2018 20:00

Great reading this thread. It's so lovely having people join all the time and reading everyone's stories. Well done Duckii and welcome everyone. Keep posting and together, one measley pound at a time we will succeed. Just think: as a group we have probably already lost about a stone in one week!! Incredible xx

Can I join! I'm 5'11 and weight undetermined- Boots scale was broken- but my size 12 clothes are actually getting a bit painful to wear and I'm sick of feeling wobbly and bloated.

Done 2 days of calorie counting so far.
Yesterday approx 1400
Today 1400 + a small chocolate cupcake that a friend made for me! Blush

I've got a Gousto box this week and finding that helpful for getting back in the swing of things- it's 'normal' food but you just get sent enough for your portion and they provide calorie info. Also helps that it's super tasty!

ThrownMuse · 30/08/2018 05:58

Welcome Ninny. Sounds like you are off to a great start.

Well said Today. I'm finding this thread really important already!

What are people up to/eating today? DS at a holiday club with a friend and I have to pop in to work, so must pack lots of snacks!

Food today will be eggs for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, probably jacket and beans for tea.

Todayillbebetter · 30/08/2018 06:20

Welcome ninny - hopefully you'll feel like this thread is a good support when feeling weak or needing a boost!

Thrownmuse - good food prep again! I have a friend and her children round for coffee this afternoon so I'm on bare bones until then as will have some biscuits with coffee (2 only). I'm thinking about having tinned tomatoes on a slice of toast as I don't have much in until I shop tomorrow. Then I'm making a roast chicken to use the meat for a chicken pie. I'm making individual ones and I will have lots of veg with my smaller pie. It's only a pastry lid do not horrific.
Then I'm making chicken soup (clear with carrots and onions in) with the rest as it's very low calorie and I can easily get through 2 large bowls and I'm full.
I'm waiting for my melons to ripen....oh er Grin
