I am being bullied by other mums in the playground

Help, I need advice. My children havent been long at their new school. I recently volunteered for something and since then the mums from one class have been making my life really difficult. Nit picking at every tiny little thing I do. I have tried to remain calm but the nit picking has been constant over everything. Its like whack a mole. They glower at me, get their children to tell my children they don't like me. No one else volunteered for the task in question...I thought everyone would be relieved but they all seem to resent me. A few have emailed me their support but its all done quietly as they are too scared of these women. How do I get them off my case? I have apologised to the ring leader incase I might have done something and in the hope she might settle everyone down. BUT no, it just wont stop. Like a dripping tap.....so constant its wearing me down. I daren't go on the facebook group anymore and have actually had to block one mum because she just kept harrassing me. Any ideas on how to make it stop???

I'm so confused by this! Can you say what the task is?

Would they leave off if you resigned from the role? Not that you should be forced to, but it doesn't sound worth the hassle!

LubaLuca · 16/03/2023 13:21

How strange. What was the task you volunteered to do? I can't think of anything you could do in a school that would prompt such responses!

Other mums are making their children come up to you in the playground to announce they don't like you?

ManchesterGirl2 · 16/03/2023 13:22

Have you confronted the ring leader and asked what their problem is?

Boogismyname · 16/03/2023 13:25

'...get their children to tell my children they don't like me'
That's cunt bag behaviour. Tell school.

Prinnny · 16/03/2023 13:26

Can you be more specific on what happened and what these women are saying/doing?

That is the least helpful thing I've read all day. But don't worry, it's only half done.

Class rep? PTFA?

wesriut · 16/03/2023 13:30

This is bizarre!

neverendinglauaundry · 16/03/2023 13:31

What did you volunteer for? This is very weird

Ijustdunnoanymore · 16/03/2023 13:32

Leavers hoodies. :( I know... who would have thought.

Send a message saying that due to the behaviour of a few you will no longer be sorting out leavers hoodies. It’s not worth any sort of hassle. If the bitchy women want leavers hoodies they can sort it out.

What do they have a problem with? How you're doing it?

I was so determined that I carried on and they arrived. I was so relieved I thought it would all stop but no.......theres now issues, tiny tiny issues with the hoodies like someones name in tiny type isnt showing up. I just want it to stop now.

Just don't do it if they're causing issues and let the headteacher know why! You're teaching your kid to be a pushover.

wesriut · 16/03/2023 13:39

"like someones name in tiny type isnt showing up"

To be fair I can see why a child would be upset by this. Doesn't excuse the parents behaviour however. Didn't you proof a sample before they were all printed?

I have given it my all. I checked and double checked but for this one thing......and this isnt the main gripe.....its just an example of the many constant finger pointing at me..........

Get tough and stand up for yourself. Bullies hate being called out, so the next time one of these mums has a pop, turn it back on them and ask them exactly what is it they'd like you to do? Rip up the sweatshirts and start again? Be firm and loud so they feel small and petty.

And don't ever apologise to the person bullying you!

RosesAndHellebores · 16/03/2023 13:41

So is the bullying behaviour just over the hoodies. Could it be possible that there have been a few issues with the names which are perceived as v v important? Is it wider than that?

I only ask because "the gate" can be a highly critical place and people need broad shoulders to take it on. I did a lot when mine were at primary and I wasn't working. "Oh I hear what you say, I'm sorting x, y and z at 11 on Thursday - please come and contribute". I used to find that offering them part of a job they'd criticised shut them up swiftly.

Thank you. Yes its wider than that...honestly its just one name thats ended up with no gap to the next one. Elsewhere all is fine. It is a wider issue.... as its been non stop since I volunteered and NOONE else wanted to do it and I was really really enthusiastic. I like your idea thank you

OMG here is proof that no good deed goes unpunished!

I once helped out on the PTA and the main leader was such a rude bitch to me I never bothered again.

It kicked off last year over leavers hoodies...one mum got offended that her kids name was added to a list of payment not received yet and demanded her kids names was taken OFF.

My kids don't even want a blinkin hoodie and I'll just say that, don't care what anyone thinks.

In my day we'd just write our names on each others shirts!

PortiasBiscuit · 16/03/2023 13:47

This really is the kind of shit that you can absolutely ignore. They can only bully you if you let them.

Daffodilfrog · 16/03/2023 13:51

The key here is that these are leavers hoodies - you are going to get away from these horrible mums pretty soon !

It is very unlikely that they will even get worn once they’ve left the school … how uncool would that be at secondary school .. these mums need to get a grip .
