I know there's a petition up for people to sign if they don't agree with the new Equality Bill being proposed, but if you'd like to do something more physical then watch this space!

We're hoping to do this on the 21st July, to coincide with the recess of Parliament for the summer break. We're also going to be organising regional events this time, as I know that a lot of people would have liked to be involved but couldn't get to London!

More news as I soon as I know what we're doing - but your support will be invaluable.

I've also just had an email from someone on an NHS email address asking if they can pass on the info to local mums to ask them to turn up. I said yes please! (but please ask them to keep an eye on Morgan's blog for info on wet weather plans)

Looks like all is going well. I'll get some info printed off when I'm in the office on Tuesday, including Morgan's letter for people to sign. Will also try to get to Bromsgrove baby bistro to see if I can drum up some support.

BouncingTurtle · 11/07/2008 20:44

I've sent out a mass mailing to friends and contacts within NCT so hopefully will get people interested there!

pooter · 12/07/2008 23:59

hiya,
its all gone a bit quiet on this thread - ive ordered a few tshirts printed with the blue breastfeeding symbol on (mothering magazine ran a comp to design it - looks a bit like the 'keep britain tidy' logo!) and morganee's slogan 'breastfeeding is not illegal' (front) Harassing mothers should be (back) and roped in a couple of friends and their little ones to wear them.

I want to send out a press release to the local papers (much safer than me opening my big mouth and rubbish sponaneously spouting out - which has happened before ) but was wondering is there a press release everyone could use so we are all singing from teh same hym sheet, so to speak? Im just a bit worried about saying the wrong thing and cocking it up.

Anyway - my boob-like fairy cakes taste lovely and ive promised a cake to anyone who turns up to the colchester picnic - so come one come all!

VictorianSqualor · 13/07/2008 09:52

It wasn't for me pooter, there is someone on netmums who wanted to know.

pooter · 13/07/2008 22:15

BouncingTurtle · 14/07/2008 09:56

I've just emailed every Birmingham MP with the letter on the blog, slightly modified as I'm not all their constituents!

VictorianSqualor · 14/07/2008 18:13

I've posted a thread somewhere with the link to that letter on.

VictorianSqualor · 14/07/2008 21:39

tinkerbellesmum, these people signed the motion for the breastfeeding bill in 2005, have you mailed them?

Jones, Lynne (Labour Party) Constituency: Birmingham Selly Oak
Burden, Richard (Labour Party) Constituency: Birmingham Northfield
Hemming, John (Liberal Democrats) Constituency: Birmingham Yardley

TinkerBellesMum · 14/07/2008 22:02

Definetly Lynne and John, can't remember who is Northfield now, but did email Northfield.

pooter · 14/07/2008 23:17

Ive invited our MP Bob Russell and Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, as she has been very supportive of BF in the House of Lords.

Thanks for mentioning the letter VS, i had missed it on the Blog.

morgangee · 15/07/2008 01:50

Is there one for Colchester? No one has told me to put it in the blog, or add Colchester to the email list?

Edinburgh was being done, but now isn't, and I havent' had a response to the Mama who suddenly got caught up in family stuff.

Someone get me colchester details!!!! ;-)

S1ur · 15/07/2008 02:01

I must first say sorry. I haven't read thread. But from gist, I have polician type 'friends' and am based in Sheffield.

I am reserving my place here so I can read properly. I could probably get them involved in a picnic in Sheffield on that day for this, especially as one of them is a bf mother. I am guessing that would be good?

TinkerBellesMum · 15/07/2008 10:13

Slur that would be great.

If anyone is interested in writing to a Lord!

Haylstones · 15/07/2008 10:13

Ok, have decided I am going to come to B'ham one on Monday. I can probably only come for a couple of hours before I need to get back though. Could somebody tell me the exact address of where I need to go please?
BTW MIL is visiting and I might bring her with me to help with dd and ds so if I do please don't let slip about MN and my online name etc (it will be obvious who I am when you hear my RL name
Is there a wet weather alternative or should I bring a brolly?

TinkerBellesMum · 15/07/2008 10:14

Lords interested in breastfeeding!

TinkerBellesMum · 15/07/2008 10:20

TinkerBellesMum · 15/07/2008 10:23

pooter · 15/07/2008 10:45

Drats, I meant Stephen McCabe!

I've just sent them both this:

"There is a picnic being held in London at Parliament Square between 12 noon and 4pm as well if you are able to attend there, I know they will be grateful to any MP who is able to come along."

pooter · 15/07/2008 10:59

who is stephen mcabe? am i shockingly badly informed?

TinkerBellesMum · 15/07/2008 11:06

One of the Birmingham MP's, I wrote to all Birmingham MP's yesterday.

nappyaddict · 15/07/2008 11:59

just had an appointment for ds to go to the hospital on the 21st but hopefully we will be able to make it later on.

solo · 15/07/2008 12:15

Oooh! so this is on Monday then in London? I thought I'd missed it! Dd is a year older than 6 months though does that matter?
Will there be any way of identifying other MNers to gather together? I'd be on my own with Dd if I go, so would(knowing me)feel a bit of a spare part...
