I know there's a petition up for people to sign if they don't agree with the new Equality Bill being proposed, but if you'd like to do something more physical then watch this space!

We're hoping to do this on the 21st July, to coincide with the recess of Parliament for the summer break. We're also going to be organising regional events this time, as I know that a lot of people would have liked to be involved but couldn't get to London!

More news as I soon as I know what we're doing - but your support will be invaluable.

Aww Hayl, I'm so sorry! We were there before 12 and stayed till almost 4. We were at the corner closest to House of Frazer, was 3 MN mums, 3 others and a lady from BFN - was quite small in comparison. We had three signs, but they kept falling over!

Haylstones · 21/07/2008 20:28

Ah, that's probably why I couldn't find you! We came in the main entrance and sat immediately to the right under a lovely big tree and were there from about 1-2. It was lovely anyway and we timed it nicely for ds's feed.

And I couldn't find House of Fraser! We got totally lost trying to find it as we went to the Bullring first and went a really silly long way when we left there. Dd had a lovely time playing on the artificial beach and I perused the Next sale.

I wished they had something in cardiff! I would have loved to have gone - but they were all too far away - If i had known about it a little more in advance, then I'm sure I would have been able to do a bit of organising - anyway - if something like this is going on next year, count me in! Hopefully they will have changed their minds about the 6mth thing by then and we will be picnicking in celebration -

Just listening to BBC Oxford Listen Again now! Well done, Dryad! Wish I could have been there but getting into Oxford was a bit too demanding for Baby Hobgoblin today...

VictorianSqualor · 22/07/2008 09:47

Radio Oxford you say?

The Durham picnic was in The Northern Echo - there is a quote from me and from SurburbanDryad in it - I presume pulled from the press release I sent.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been on here before, we got back quite late and I was absolutely shattered, as was ds bless him!

We had a fabulous turn out for the London picnic, between 80-100 people altogether, including babies and children. We had one MP (MP for Colchester) and Eric, Lord Avebury and his wife Lindsay come down to say hello. I think we might have got more MPs but they were all in a defense debate, which they thought was more important!

Weather was brilliant, we didn't get any toddlers squished by taxis or buses, which is a bonus, and there was much cake and delishus food! Sadly, we didn't get any press interest, the telephone interview for teh Evening Standard was probably dumped in favour of the McCanns, but never mind. We had fabulous local press interest elsewhere, so altogether I think we can claim the event as a success!

So - who's up for next year?!

CMOT, are you on facebook? I've uploaded the picture from the mail and if you add yourself to the Birmingham FB Group I'll tag you properly in the picture.
