I know there's a petition up for people to sign if they don't agree with the new Equality Bill being proposed, but if you'd like to do something more physical then watch this space!

We're hoping to do this on the 21st July, to coincide with the recess of Parliament for the summer break. We're also going to be organising regional events this time, as I know that a lot of people would have liked to be involved but couldn't get to London!

More news as I soon as I know what we're doing - but your support will be invaluable.

Very cool

solo · 16/07/2008 12:00

Have to be a fair sized sticker though VS, but a good idea...

TinkerBellesMum · 16/07/2008 14:34

I love the Hathor cartoons, do you think she'd mind if we had them blown up and used them as a placard?

Good idea VS.

Just had a reply Gisela, she just said "thank you for this" so I think that means she may put in an appearance too.

I think that by sending one email to all of them I kinda set them against each other that none of them want to be seen to the others as not getting involved in it. I could be being cynical and they are all interested.

Any idea if there will be a picnic in Plymouth?

morgangee · 17/07/2008 13:53

Does anyone know anything about one in Liverpool? Just had it mentioned in comments in the blog...?

Sefton Park? Anyone know who's doing this?

On Plymouth and Edinburgh - still time to get it together. All you need is two mums haveing a sandich and it's a picnic!!! :-)

Urban is driving over as we speak, to try and help make a poster for the paste table we've bought for Westminster (8 quid at Wicks!) I'll see if I can get the Hathor one printed out big for one side of it!

Urban is also seeing if we can hand out leaflets, under the special measures for Westminster, and if we can' we'll print a few off!

morgangee · 17/07/2008 14:08

On Hathor and placards - can I point out that number 3 is actually factually incorrect - and feeds into the myth that we're trying to dispell. So if you are going to use it as a placard, think wisely!

It's not Hathor's fault she's been reading the mis-information, when even the BBC have reported it wrongly!!!!

TinkerBellesMum · 17/07/2008 15:00

Which one is incorrect? I saved them so they're out of order now.

ChairmumMiaow · 17/07/2008 16:09

I reckon we'll be hitting my hopes for 20 people - I've had quite a few "hopefully" coming and my HV is sending out the info to some people she knows at the breastfeeding network.

I shall be easy to spot. I am a large lady who will probably have a chunky 6 month old boy in a maroon wrap sling. And a husband in tow. Oh, and you probably won't be able to miss the "Protect my baby, protect me" banner I'm hoping to finish at the weekend :-)

I'll send my mobile number out on the mailing list, in case anyone wants to get in touch with me.

ChairmumMiaow · 17/07/2008 16:11

Oh and Starbucks said we couldn't use their cafe, so we don't have a wet weather alternative. Also if the grass is wet we need to keep off there as the Cathedral understandably don't want to be responsible for any injuries!

TinkerBellesMum · 17/07/2008 16:30

I made a few suggestions on the mailing list of alternatives, but I think they're a bit lame. There isn't a lot of options around there unfortunately.

Light rain is forecasted for Monday. 18 high and 14 low. It's pretty much the same as today except warmer, which is actually not that bad I think.

I have made a thread for our picnic, no one has used it yet though

theSuburbanDryad · 18/07/2008 06:11

Well since I have been up since half 4 (thanks ds!) I've just finished doing all the press releases and sending it to just about everyone I can think of!

If anyone wants to use the press release, drop me a line.

OMG!!!!

Clare Short, MP for the Cathedral's area sent me one word:

"regrets"

HOW RUDE!

TinkerBellesMum · 18/07/2008 12:19

Just reading her Wiki page, she used to be Shadow Minister for Women

theSuburbanDryad · 18/07/2008 12:23

I'm not surprised, tbh. She lost all respect I ever had for her when she did that magnificent U-Turn on the Iraq war!

kiskidee · 18/07/2008 12:31

send her back and email saying: what a pity, considering your prev. role as ...

just to be cheeky, like.

theSuburbanDryad · 18/07/2008 12:42

Yep, there's nothing to lose. They're MP's - they work for us!!

TinkerBellesMum · 18/07/2008 14:26

Just heard from Richard Burden's office. They said before he's in an all day meeting in London, so I sent a message back saying that there is one in London. Reply was that they will let him know but don't think the meeting is in parliament so don't think he will be able to make it.

I hope all the MP's who have said they may come, do. Make sure you get a picture of EVERY MP that comes!

TinkerBellesMum · 18/07/2008 19:59

Anyone from Gordon Brown's constituency? Apparently he only takes emails from his constituents.

Just to remind everyone at all picnics to take photos and video film.

Mike Brady wants to do a follow up with lots of piccies!!!!

I'd email Clare Short back and ask her what she's regretting, and is she coming to the picnic!

My MP, Alastair Burt, hasn't replied at all. Think he's fed up of me? ;-)

morgangee · 19/07/2008 17:11

On hathor - sexfiends is okay, and No Papers scrapes by - but I added a note on the blog that you couldn't be done for public indecency.

It's "Six Months Old" that's completely off bat, sending out the message that you can be done under public indecency after six months. So don't use that, it perpetuates a myth that needs stomped on! Like I said, not Hathor's fault...

BouncingTurtle · 20/07/2008 08:19

Picnics tomorrow!!!! Pray for good weather!

solo · 20/07/2008 11:00

I will try to make it, but my ME is quite bad and I'll have to see how my body and mind feel when I wake up tomorrow... hope to see you all there though
