Breastfeeding calendar?

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:07

After seeing some of the beautiful pictures on the breastfeeding photos thread and watching the nude photoshoot on Young Mums Mansion the other day I've had a look for some breastfeeding calendars and it seems there are but two.

One of which just looks like playgroup type pictures, the other is the IBFAN calendar.
If I were to arrange (hopefully in conjunction with MN and the new Breastfeeding helpline) a calendar would you buy it? pose for it?

Hopefully MrsBadger won't mind me linking to this post, but this is the type of thing I was thinking.
Something arty that shows the real beauty of breastfeeding.

Would also be greatful to hear from anyone who is, or knows a photographer or a great location for the pictures.

It would have to be for 2009 now so I'd think we have plenty of time.

Actually I too have a picture of a baby being breastfed, that was one of the last drawings my friend did before she was killed. I wonder if anyone would like to use it if her parents approved? Its a lovely picture of mother and baby in south america.

hi there. what a great idea and i wold love to beinvolved. i'm in glasgow and if there are other mums up here - we could maybe co-ordinate something?

i know some v cheap printers through work as well - but i think someone else is already on that case.
i reently done filming for teh new breastfeeding dvd coming ou t- we fed in parks, in musuems, at swimming class etc for it.
just a suggestion - but maybe one to include fathers showing support??

dd is just about to turn one and is still happily feeding away. i was one of those mums who didnt even think i could make it to 1 week never mind this stage.

anything i could do to help - chipping in for web hosting costs etc - more than happy to help

Lazza03 · 18/04/2008 11:21

Blimey, looking back at this thread there is enough for a giant coffee table book!

Lazza03 · 18/04/2008 11:41

BTW, I was a book designer for 10 years before my daughter was born, so if you want any design help let me know. (I haven't read whole thread so I don't know if anyone's offered already)

GreenMonkies · 18/04/2008 12:31

I'd love to be involved, DD2 is nearly two and DD1 is 4.5, or would that be too wierd??? Come find me here mamasmilkmafia.ipbfree.com/index.php?act=idx PM me, I'm Gloria Stitts.

Monkeybird · 18/04/2008 12:35

Bouncingturtle, thanks for asking. I am still BF - things are much better now though he still has off days.

I have a series of techniques which I use to keep him sucking for longer to get a letdown and they have really helped. He seems happy now with fewer feeds a day plus lots of solid food and a bit of water in a doidy cup. i'm no longer worried about him being dehydrated and he's no longer constipated!

So a success in the end: we haven't had to give a bottle for about 5 days now.

I've only just read this thread properly and I think it's a lovely idea.

Monkeybird · 18/04/2008 12:53

Lazza, I've just read the thread and don't think anyone has offered to help with the design stuff yet - I think you should email VS (her email was on an earlier post) or shout Bouncing Turtle.

gracieclaire · 18/04/2008 13:19

my little one is 2 in june and still feeds and i would def buy the calenda

PracticallyPerfect · 18/04/2008 13:19

Hi, I am near Oxford and would like to be involved. Have an 8 month old who feeds all the time and a four year old who likes to distract her, causing 'nipple-yank'. Maybe a picture of feeding and travel on public transport would be good? (I once was feeding whilst running for a train - bit extreme?!)

Myth-breastfeeding ruins you breasts (age and gravity take care of that)

Olliesmummy2005 · 18/04/2008 13:50

i'd buy and pose, i think there should be more 'adverts' for mums like me, i'm 22 and breastfeeding ds2, i breastfed ds1 until he was 10 months yet i am the only mum in my circle of friends that breastfeeds, i'm shocked by how many people are surprised i breastfeed!!!

stalbansmum · 18/04/2008 14:09

I would love to pose - dd is 5 months so will be feeding for ages yet. We regularly feed at the park surrounded by school children (and normally in a howling gale at the mo...).

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 14:25

Lazza - yes I'm making a note of people who have offered to help on certain aspects, once I finished compiling the list, which hopefully will be on Sunday, as we're off to Alton Towers tonight and won't be back til late tomorrow, I'll post on a new thread so people can check their details and that I haven't missed anyone.

Sazisi · 18/04/2008 14:33

I've just put two pics of Aoibh breastfeeding on my profile (someone look and say "Aw" or else!)

VictorianSqualor · 18/04/2008 14:50

BT, if you're happy doing that list, email me it once you're done and I'll add the people I have that contacted me but haven't posted, there are quite a few.
You're a star btw.

TheProdigalShow · 18/04/2008 14:53

Sazisi- aww! Beautiful pics.

VS, can I help with anything? Have breastfed 11mo, will travel. Will pose but can do anything else that is necessary too, just shout if there's anything needs doing.

Dotsie · 18/04/2008 14:58

Hi. please count me in! i'm currently feeding ds2 (3 months), and am in Halifax, so can easily get to Leeds. think it's a fab, beautiful idea. i also have a friend with 4 month twins - will ask her if she'd like to be involved too. i regularly feed on the bus, whilst walking to school with dd and ds1 ( i use a ring sling...), in church, supermarket...anywhere really! I'd def buy it. what about getting baby cafes involved?

Greenmonkies...was it you that was on Richard and Judy a little while ago? maybe you'd fancy an encore...?

VictorianSqualor · 18/04/2008 17:13

wasn't greenmonkies on LKtoday?

OP posts:
GreenMonkies · 18/04/2008 17:16

"wasn't greenmonkies on LKtoday? "

Yup, that was me, educating Dr H on the sofa! Such fun..........

(I'm in the North West btw, Chester/Wirral area)

GreenMonkies · 18/04/2008 17:17

Congratulations on your latest creation VS!!

princessmel · 18/04/2008 17:26

Hi, I'd LOVE to do this but dd stopped bf just before Christmas. She was 2.4yrs when she stopped.

If you didn't have enough models I'd happily fake bf her for you!!

I do have a pic of her bf though. Maybe for the montage.

FAB idea.

thenapper · 18/04/2008 17:42

Hi BT, thanks for the support. No nannies involved but feeding the twins on their pillow means that I'm 'hands-free'. If I thought I multi-tasked before... I think that you and VS are great to do this . If it ends up as more than a calender we'd all buy it!

VictorianSqualor · 18/04/2008 17:47

Maybe we should ask Lorraine Kelly to sponsor us?

OP posts:
thenapper · 18/04/2008 17:52

NOw there's a lady who likes to talk about her'puppies'!

verylittlecarrot · 18/04/2008 18:12

me me me me me

I want to be in a calendar!

Am emailing you. Chester based. I could do it with greenmonkies who is really famous

Stefka · 18/04/2008 19:05

I have got a bit lost on this one - should we email you if we want to be involved? I missed your email address and don't have the brain capacity to look through all the posts!

I so love this idea. I had such a hellish time getting bf started which makes it even more special and important to me.
