Breastfeeding calendar?

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:07

After seeing some of the beautiful pictures on the breastfeeding photos thread and watching the nude photoshoot on Young Mums Mansion the other day I've had a look for some breastfeeding calendars and it seems there are but two.

One of which just looks like playgroup type pictures, the other is the IBFAN calendar.
If I were to arrange (hopefully in conjunction with MN and the new Breastfeeding helpline) a calendar would you buy it? pose for it?

Hopefully MrsBadger won't mind me linking to this post, but this is the type of thing I was thinking.
Something arty that shows the real beauty of breastfeeding.

Would also be greatful to hear from anyone who is, or knows a photographer or a great location for the pictures.

It would have to be for 2009 now so I'd think we have plenty of time.

I am quite thin and still breastfeeding my (recently turned) two year old daughter! This would show that breastfeeding really does make you lose weight although I'm sorry to say I have always been thin.

We are in Surrey and I would be willing to take part, if I can just get her to sit / lie still!

ChairmumMiaow · 16/04/2008 14:21

I suspect I could convince DH and our minions to set up a site to sell the calendars from - we run our own web development company and would be able to set up a site with paypal payment (people can make credit/debit card payments without registering and its the easiest one to write for!). We can do everything from design up so long as its before September when our designer leaves!

I suspect DH would want a small amount of advertising at the bottom (just a static "written and hosted for free by Us" type thing), but otherwise I'd consider it my contribution to the effort as I think its a wonderful idea. If you're stuck for models I can volunteer for that too - I'm not photogenic but I have fed in lots of locations, and discreetly too - evidenced by this photo and this photo of me feeding at a PHP user group meeting (that's a group of programmers/ geeks ) (the colour is off on that - I'm not actually quite so pink!)

is there a wales photographer yet??? i could travel if needed though.

will ask around for a photographer

are there anymore mums in wales??

flossish · 17/04/2008 21:18

Not in wales, but in Bristol so not too far. I could be the 'in the night' BF'er as thats the only time I'm feeding my 7 month old now. It would also have the added benefit of not showing my face in the dark! I would do it if anyone wants me, I'm trying to overcome issshooos over how I look and take life for living!

VictorianSqualor · 17/04/2008 21:32

Have been in hospital, I'll try and catch up tomorrow.

am trying to conceive at the mo. would love to pose, not a moose, size 14. generally only have to look at dirty bed sheets to get preggers so if time scale fits i'm in north notts. and posing aside, i would buy one anyway.

Hellcats · 18/04/2008 06:46

I am feeding my 2 year old and would love to pose. If you need another Scotland mother i am here. Am A goddess sized model (large)

Eleta · 18/04/2008 07:11

Hi, don't know if you still need a photographer, but I specialise in pregnancy and newborn photography, mainly black nd white and also am a midwife. You can take a look at my website if I am allowed to post it. It is eletanewby photography. co.uk (no spaces) I breast fed my two daughters and am curently 16 weeks pregnant with my third baby.
I will try and send you a message Victorian Squalor.
Just get in touch if you are interested

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 08:06

Your pictures are beautiful Eleta. Just highlighting that you are based in Shropshire to help with any planning.

Hello, what a great thread. My twins are now 5 months old and I've breast fed since the recovery room. I would love to take part if there's space left! I put a picture taken of my twins as I look down on them on my profile if anyone's interested.

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 08:37

What great pix! And your twins are beautiful
My hats off to you, I take it you are managing without an army of nannies, personal chefs, cleaners and personal trainers a la AJ

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 08:39

I think what I'll do is go through the thread, take down everyone's handles, locations, babies ages (and quanity) and due dates for pg ladies. Might need to chase a few people for extra info. Then I'll send the list to VS (who I think may be a little busy atm!)

I think this is a lovely idea. I would be happy to model if dd (12months) is still bfing by then... I'm also in Scotland, but have family to stay with in Surrey and Midlands areas, if that helps.

Monkeybird · 18/04/2008 09:33

wonderful photos VS - he's gorgeous.

And wonderful, lovely photos, Eleta - and yippee! I live near Shropshire. I'll be giving you a call over the summer as I was thinking of getting some photos done and didn't want to go down the rip off Venture route...

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 09:50

VS - no problems, and your new addition is gorgeous! What a lovely chap he is You take it easy!

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 09:53

MB - are you still bfing your baby - I seem to remember that he went on a nursing strike or have I got you mixed up with someone else?

MrsBabs · 18/04/2008 10:37

hi everyone. haven't had chance to read every thread so not sure if someone has already offered their services or not, but i think this is such a great idea (and would SO pose for it if i had a new baby in time but not planning on trying until August), but I could design the calendar for you - lay it all out and set up ready for the printers? x

Klaw · 18/04/2008 10:43

I would do it if I was bf at the time... I love the pics I had done of my bump!

My friend would ben more than able to ake the photos and I'm sure I could find a lovely location but as I'm up in Scotland I doubt that would be much use.....

Teeniebf · 18/04/2008 10:47

I believe I have the obligatory BF pic somewhere! Shows me day after DS2 was born, still zonked after em-c-sec and looking slightly dazed, but DS feeding away beautifully. I'm still trying to figure out if the expression on my face is due to the vast amount of drugs I'd had or just sheer mummy bliss!

HollyMay · 18/04/2008 11:06

Hey,

Think it's a fab, beautiful idea. Unfortunately I couldn't breastfeed which I was really sad about. I would have posed if I was. Good luck

Lazza03 · 18/04/2008 11:12
