Breastfeeding calendar?

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:07

After seeing some of the beautiful pictures on the breastfeeding photos thread and watching the nude photoshoot on Young Mums Mansion the other day I've had a look for some breastfeeding calendars and it seems there are but two.

One of which just looks like playgroup type pictures, the other is the IBFAN calendar.
If I were to arrange (hopefully in conjunction with MN and the new Breastfeeding helpline) a calendar would you buy it? pose for it?

Hopefully MrsBadger won't mind me linking to this post, but this is the type of thing I was thinking.
Something arty that shows the real beauty of breastfeeding.

Would also be greatful to hear from anyone who is, or knows a photographer or a great location for the pictures.

It would have to be for 2009 now so I'd think we have plenty of time.

what a lovely idea - wouldn't pose myself due to horrible norks and lardy belly but well done you for thinking of it!

how are you keeping btw?

Disenchanted · 12/04/2008 10:10

That picture is beautiful

I would definatly buy one

I daresay I would pose for it oo but its all about timing isn't it? Whether or not I will have a breastfeeding child at the point of the photo shoot! Am trying to order one at the mont though

Disenchanted · 12/04/2008 10:11

Sorry batteries on wireless keyboard are running out so keeps missing letters!

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:20

Lol@horrible norks and lardy belly, with the right photographer no-one need feel insecure.

(I'm good btw, trying to find something to kill time before this baby finally gets here 40+3 today )

I would pose for it and depending on when and where you wanted to do it my DH could take the pictures. We were discussing it the other day actually because I would love for him to do photos like those beastar ones. The only thing that he would need though is studio lights if it was to be done inside. You could maybe hire them. He used to be a photographer for a living and is very good (IMO!).

If you are serious about it VS then email me bumperlicious . mn @ hotmail .co .uk

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 10:22

oh lordy, you must be fed up!

Bumperlicious · 12/04/2008 10:22

He's v good with photoshop too

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:51

I'm thinking pics outside would probably benicer anyway tbh.
I'll email you in a bit, just got to pop out.

I'd pose for it......winding down the Bfing of 10mo old DD now, but I'll have a new "prop" in November

must put up some of me Bfing on the other thread; i think we have some nice ones.

locations....a stately home or somesuch? or everyday locations just to show how normal it is and to encourag others?........like a busy cafe, with a blurry waiter going by, but mum and bub in clear focus to get over the serenity of it?

lackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2008 11:01

beautiful pic by the way MrsBadger!

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 11:06

I like the cafe idea Daisy, I'm thinking the title should be something like 'Natures Way -The beauty of Breastfeeding'.

So a lot of different types of shots would be suitable.

Some very natural outside and others in more 'normal' places.

A stately home would probably be a good place, they have places that are public and places that are natural, just depends where we can get, also need to knwo what bumpers hubby thinks of it, he'll know more about the practical side of taking them.

yesI would definitely pose for it (though I would require my own hairdresser and make up artist )
we talked about this concept before actually

Caz10 · 12/04/2008 11:14

lovely idea!!

i would think the more varied the locations the better, to make the point that you can do it anywhere!

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 11:14

I'm sure we can find someone who can do make-up and hair harpsi, this is MUMSNET!

great idea, VS! would definitely buy one. and if it works out I probably could imagine being a 'model'.
hope you are ok today, sending opening vibes...

Bumperlicious · 12/04/2008 11:18

He would love to do natural pictures. He is trying to get back into photography and would like to do naturalistic portraits. The only problem is that it is dependent on the weather, not just in a "is it going to rain" way but lighting etc. That's why it would be good to have the option to do it inside with studio lights (we are thinking of investing in some anyway). A stately home with a cafe/garden would be good because you could have the option to go inside.

Depends what you are thinking really. if you want one's like the one's on my profile (e.g. arty close-up type pics) then it doesn't matter what the setting is, however if you want bfing in a context (e.g oh look, we are bfing in public isn't it natural) then the setting is important. Obviously just because I've volunteered DH doesn't mean you have to use him but I know he is keen to get some practice in to build up a portfolio, and I have asked him to do pics for my bfing group sometime so he is happy to do bfing photos.

Have a think about what you have in mind VS and email me, and I can pass you over to DH. He can give you advice either way.

If you are interested we are in the South West/West Midlands area. Lots of beautiful scenery and architecture around here.

Bumperlicious · 12/04/2008 11:20

Bear in mind that some places will require permission for photographs.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2008 11:21

this all sounds very exciting

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 11:24

Emailed you bumper.

I am aboslutely on for it.
I am a weirdy bfeeder though. dd2 is thirteen nearly two and a half....

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 11:25

That's a Good Thing IMO, If we want to show how natural it is we should have 'extended' breastfeeding in it too.
Not just newborn babies.

I think this is a lovely idea. Would definitely buy it... and maybe even pose for it (if DS is still feeding by then).

harpsichordcarrier · 12/04/2008 11:26

vs I live near you too I think...

Indith · 12/04/2008 11:26

I think this sounds great, Should I have a bf child at the right time I think I'd go for it. (And this comes from the woman who hates having her photo taken above anything else in the world). Am ttc so I hope I'll have one!

MissingMyHeels · 12/04/2008 11:27

If I'm still bfeeding then I would def do it - I was really disappointed in the lack of young Mums you see in posters etc! Even if they look a but younger they just don't look very cool. Bfeeding needs to be made trendy IMO!
