MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Oh SusieLoo Sad

Hope babyloo goes for a BIG sleep soon Smile

missingmymarbles · 26/09/2012 22:08

Argh! My post has just been eaten!
As soon as I posted my last comment I had to come back upstairs to feed again. She'd only been down 40 mins. It's ages since I've had to feed later than 9pm. This does not bode well. I'm going to hope that feeding this late means she'll go til 4 or 5, but seriously, who am I kidding?? I know it really means it will be every hour and a half to two hours Sad

technoduck · 27/09/2012 03:02

Wow ducking has just done 10 till now! So proud of him, he's never slept for that long before. I love him so much when he sleeps

Tooodlepip · 27/09/2012 03:41

Hello toodleGrin

First feed of the night but babyloo not settling very well, really hope he goes through until 7, here's hopingSmile

missingmymarbles · 27/09/2012 04:28

First feed turned out to be normal time of around 2.45 which is a relief, but we're up again - damn snot and coughing! Olbas oil hasn't made any made any differenceSad

Susieloo · 27/09/2012 19:24

Hello everyoneSmile babyloo has had a very exciting day because we took him to Sainsbury's-woop woop!! He went in the baby seat and slept for the first twenty minutes and then woke up and was quite content for another half an hour when he wanted to come out and be carried, dp had popped in to see us on his way somewhere so he carried him and I finished the shopping, so with four adults (my parents were shopping too) it was a successful trip!!!

Not sure what I'm in for tonight, he's had a sleepy day including a big two hour nap quite late this afternoon so who knows, don't think I will get another 5 hour stretch!

Have a good night everyoneSmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/09/2012 01:26

Hey everyone, hello toodle congrats on your little one.

Minipop had his third lot of injections today, so he's been very grizzly & sleepy. He just slept for 4 hours straight, it's just a shame I wasn't asleep for those four hours either Grin

So

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/09/2012 01:28

Opps, posted too soon.

so we've just had a 1am feed and now 10 mins into our 30-min-post-feed-vertical hold :)

hope all the sniffles & colds are improving. Wishing you all a good evening.

Susieloo · 28/09/2012 02:42

Oh dear, first feed at 1.15am and we are still awake, very unusually babyloo not settling and crying for no apparent reason - teething? Think it's too early? I've just given up for a bit and come downstairs for a cup of tea,

missingmymarbles · 28/09/2012 03:15

Also on 2nd feed already, which began 45 mins ago Confused.....

Susieloo · 28/09/2012 03:18

Morning marblesSmile I've just put babyloo back in his cot but he is in a very light sleep, no idea what's bugging him tonight. Really hope he makes it through to somewhere near seven but I'm not hopeful!!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/09/2012 06:30

Minipop went to 4am, before his tummy started waking him up, so had him sleep on me in bed for a couple of hours & we're just a on second feed now.

Hope you all got a bit more sleep :)

missingmymarbles · 28/09/2012 07:12

Had to lift Missmarbles in with me at 4.30ish, in order for any of us to get any sleep Sad

Tooodlepip · 28/09/2012 11:17

Hi

Plenty of 4 am feeding going on susie and mrs marbles Smile

Last night was weird for me because lilpip slept from 2-7 am this has never happened before and I'm trying to figure out what I done differently Grin

He is terrible for wind maybe the infacol helped but it didn't help any other time I gave it.

Anyway I know it was probably a one off maybe lilpip knew I was crying last night from exhaustion Grin

Hope everyone has a good feeding day I'm planning to try and rest as much as I can Smile I'm really doing to much Wink

BabylonPI · 28/09/2012 19:53

Well our routine has totally gone to the dogs!!

I don't know whether we're coming or going and my eyes feel like I fell in a sandpit!! Baby B is back to two hourly feeds day and night as well as cluster feeds between 4 and 8pm Sad

It wasn't this bad when he was newborn I'm certain! He's also taking a real interest in our food and watching the fork go plate to mouth to plate to mouth.

He salivates while we eat and chops his lips along with us, so if this isn't a sure sign he's ready for proper food then I don't know what is.

HV still says not to ween until 26 weeks, but 22 is good enough for me Grin we're going to start properly on Monday!!

missingmymarbles · 28/09/2012 21:07

Our routine (well what routine we have) has also gone to the dogs, Babylon. Had a long, late sleep this afternoon, because I really needed a kip and so she was laid next to me. I am hoping though, because of micronaps the last couple of days and a rubbish night, she was just catching up, and will sleep normally tonight, despite the fact I am still feeding nowHmm

Hi Toodle

Hoping everyone has better sleeps tonight.

Susieloo · 28/09/2012 21:10

I've been there toodle with the crying from exhaustion, horrible feeling. I really sympathise babylon 2 hourly feeds and cluster feeding are totally exhausting and frustrating, I know hv's are really pushing 26 weeks but I think you have to go with what's right for you.

Babyloo has gone down as usual at half eight but just woken himself up, I'm sure he's cold so in going to add a muslin on top of his blanket tonight, I'm so paranoid about over heating I'm sure the poor little thing is freezing half the night.

Have good sleeps everyone Smile

technoduck · 28/09/2012 21:29

Welcome to the club toodle!
Sorry I haven't been on here much the last few days the internet keeps mucking up at the techno house. Ducking has been doing really well, only woke up once last night. My hv told me to do a double dose of colic stuff at nightime and its working wonders, he's farting like a trooper but at least its working.
Should be back about 3.

Tooodlepip · 28/09/2012 22:18

Hi

Thanks techno for the welcome and evening all

Lilpip is teasing me by sleeping all evening he been asleep since after his feed past 7 so dunno what I'm in for tonight Grin

I been reading all day about introducing a dummy if its good or not I know it's not recommended he is nearly 3 weeks old and I think feeding is well established. Anyway I might start after he has been fed to give it to him I mean I'm not worried about nipple confusion more milk supply oh I'm rambling now this bf really does take up every thought at the start Blush

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight

Tooodlepip · 28/09/2012 22:21

Susie loo I am onto my 3rd child and I found myself standing in the shopping centre trying to remember whether I should remove his coat or not and don't get me started on how many blankets and is the room too cold/hot.

Techno I have no problem double dosing infacol if I need to will see how he goes Grin

missingmymarbles · 28/09/2012 23:15

Haha - I too have the too-hot-too-cold-another-blanket-or-not debate with myselfGrin and my DH! She is in a sleeping bag and I worry about the tog rating. Her arms freeze regardless of tog rating but I have started putting a long sleeved vest on her at night; so, no difference in body layers but an extra on arms Tonight, because room temp is borderline 20'C she's in 1 tog sb and a blanket if temp drops.

She's still sleeping but only went down at 9. Hopefully will remain so til at least 3. Hope everyone else has a good night.

Tooodlepip · 29/09/2012 00:15

I think I just discovered my newborn has an upper lip tie and possible posterior lip tie Sad I only caught on because I couldn't figure out why it still hurt to feed and read a couple of threads on here Sad now I have to wait until Monday to see if I can get a gp app

I'm just wondering what this might mean will they leave it or treat it of fob me off obviously I could be wrong but I don't think so Sad

Hope everyone getting sleep right now Smile

technoduck · 29/09/2012 02:49

Ha I'm always worrying if ducking is to hot/cold I've started using long sleeve vests, the rest of him can be lovely and warm but his arms are freezing. Always put a hat on him went he's in the buggy and he's hates it! Ducking got his dummy when if was about 3ish weeks old he only has it when he's in the carseat or when if wakes up and I need to get things ready for a bum change, and it works really well for us.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 29/09/2012 02:54

Hey toodle :) morning everyone!

Another one here paranoid about the too hot too cold thing. Poor little Minipop hates being cold, so even though he's got the correct tog I still add an extra blanket over him.

We're also swapping milks over, he doesn't need the special premmie milk anymore, just normal stuff. Only trouble is normal milk isn't as filling as the premmie stuff so he's eating the same volume, but gets hungry sooner - so wrv, had a disturbed night so far.
