MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Very glad he's helping out techno, but think he owes you lots of cups of tea!

MiniPop woke at 4am again, drained his bottle (just like Thursday night), but couldn't get him to burp for love nor money, so (just like Thursday night), he was moaning half an hour after being put back into his cot, had to get him out, help him burp and then it took a while again to settle him back.

He was up again at half 6 as he was cold (kicked covers off again), took ages to settle back to bed only for him to grumble again around half seven. In the end I had to put him on my chest to snooze with me in bed.

It's a good job I spent three weeks in hospital sleeping in an upright position, so I'm well trained at our special position :D

I've put him in a sleeping bag thingy tonight, first time, so who knows? Maybe he wont wake up cold - despite the guidelines, he doesn't like the cold at all :)

Hope everyone has a good night, I used to hate the nightshift, but I kind of changed my thoughts about it now.

missingmymarbles · 22/09/2012 21:40

The cold is a bugger isn't it, Minipopmum?
Missmarbles is feeling it too I think. She's already in a sleeping bag, and I think I'm going to put her in a long sleeved vest/top under her babygro tomorrow night, coz she seems chilly up her arms;I thought if it too late tonight, though.

She's had a feed at 9, as soon as she went down, she woke up. She fell asleep in my arms within seconds without a feed, so hopefully she will go flat out and stay that way til at least 1.30. We had had a 9-3 but that seems like a distant memory now since reverting to 2-3 hours and 4 if I am particularly blessed. Been exhausted today as well. Tried to lay down when she was asleep, but again she woke within minutes of us both lying down.

Hope everyone gets good sleeps, will check in but may be too knackered to post in the middle I'd the night.

BabylonPI · 22/09/2012 21:55

Baby Babylon is full of cold and snorting like a pig Sad

We've had a few really broken nights, and I can only make him settle on my knee at the moment Sad

Hmm
MiniPopsMum2012 · 22/09/2012 22:21

Oh babylon! Poor baby babylon :( hope you manage to get a bit more sleep tonight.

We've just has 9pm feed a but late, at half nine. Jut hoping Minipop will sleep through until about half one (I can hope! :)).

Am shattered, really need some extra sleep, but unable to fit some in. My DP is being crap at helping out as well, he's asleep on the sofa when he could've done the feed so I could have gone to bed - bah!

Susieloo · 22/09/2012 22:44

Hello everyone, babyloo has been to his first wedding so is very late to bed tonight, he did have a good snooze on dp's shoulder while we were there so I hope he's not overtired, I on the other hand can't keep my eyes open.

I totally sympathize minipop re dp, I was promised a bath and a sleep this pm by dp who was going to his mums for the afternoon however dp's mum was looking after another grandchild who had sickness and diarrhea so I didn't want babyloo to go, dp takes this as his cue to get in from work and go for a three hour nap!! Babyloo then decided for the first time in two weeks to also take a three hour nap so I ended up as the only person awakeEnvy nothing more infuriating than dp waking up and saying 'I really needed that sleep'!!!

I'm hoping this will be the last feed and I can at least get a couple of hours before he wakes again, so tired I physically can't keep my eyes open.

technoduck · 22/09/2012 23:12

Good evening!
Babylon hope you have a better night, put ducking down at 9 hoping he would stay down until about 1ish but here I am. Quick question for everyone, I've started to get a dull pain in my left breast kind of spreading to under my armpit?
Should be back on about 1ish
Hope everyone has a good night.

technoduck · 23/09/2012 01:14

Oh I am back when I said I would be but that's because ducking hasn't slept yet! Having real problems getting the wind out of him, think I've done it, put him down then listen to him grunting until he starts crying. wind him again then he wants another feed. Repeat.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 23/09/2012 02:28

Oh techno Minipop is the worst for wind, he never gives it up without a fight! Takes ages......!!

Have you tried compression on your breast with a warm flannel (or after a hot shower)? Might be a blocked duct?

Thanks susieloo DP has promised he'll do the morning feeds so I can get a chance to catch up on some sleep.

missingmymarbles · 23/09/2012 03:31

Morning all.

Stone the crows! Up for the first time at 2.34!! Was awoken by snuffling trying to find thumb. Big feed taken, and bless her, little arms were freezing right up to shoulders. I've put a little shrug on her that came with a dress, right over the top of her sleeping bag and not fastened at the front, so it shouldn't make the rest if her too warm but will hopefully warm her arms up a bit. Put her back down as she was too sleepy to take the other side when offered, but she opened her eyes and decided she wanted it after all, so she had a little more and is now sleeping. This might see us til morning. I can hopeSmile The usual pattern is only a couple of hours after the first 'big' sleep.

My DH had been in the doghouse re sleep selfishness this weekend too.

Right must go back to sleep. Been up an hour and can only really attribute half of that to Missmarbles.

stargirl1701 · 23/09/2012 03:36

Techno you sound like you've had some time of it! Def massage that breast with warm flannels and try expressing too. It could be a blocked duct.

I'm def on the mend. Baby star gaining weight on mixed feeding. We're hoping to get home either today or tomorrow.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 23/09/2012 06:59

That's good news star fingers crossed you're home soon.

Minipop decided to wake up 2 hours after feeding at 5am, wide awake wanting to play. He wasn't hungry, so managed to get him to sleep for an hour until feed time at 6am.

I am shattered after three days of rubbish sleeping by Minipop, I am also cold so have just put the heating on :)

still got 20mina of fees settling to do before I go back to sleep! yawn

missingmymarbles · 23/09/2012 07:30

Next feed was 5.45 so can't complain; actually I am delighted and feel a lot better for better sleep. She stirred again at 7 with a snotty nose. DH is already up so I lifter her in with me to dream feed, which she vomited back Confused but is still asleep, albeit a bit restlessly, over my shoulder. Doesn't sound like DD1 is going about yet, so am making the most of this Wink

Poor baby Babylon! I really feel for you both. Missmarbles is still snotty and its horrid when theyre not well Sad

Star pleased to hear you are doing so much better.

Hope you are back in the Land of Nod by now Mini.

Does sound like a blocked duct, Techno. Warm flannels and gentle massage is good advice. If you can, and it may require acrobatics (well, lying down at any rate) try and feed Duckling with his chin in the direction of the sore bit, iyswim.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday Smile

Susieloo · 23/09/2012 08:15

Morning!! Babyloo went through till four and then was awake at seven after feeding for an hour - exactly the same as you marbles re one big sleep then 1.5-2 hours until morning. Dp got in from the wedding and started on the wine so came to bed only to start snoring his head off which rib jabs did nothing to stopAngry

We are off to my parents for the day and night and tonight mightvbe grobag night for the first time because their house is loads colder than ours, going to try and weigh him though because I think he might be too big for the one I have. Have a friend coming over for coffee too so it's been a great weekend to see my friends.

Happy Sundays everyoneGrin

stargirl1701 · 23/09/2012 18:17

I hope everyone had a good day and got some rest for the night ahead! Baby star and I got home this afternoon. Smile

frillylemons · 23/09/2012 19:06

Yay star! Welcome home Smile How're you feeling?

Babyfrilly has slept a lot today...I hope it doesn't mean she'll be up all night Confused

We put her in her own room last night. I know it's not advised this early but we all slept better for it and she was great!

Anyone watching the XFactor tonight? Ooh, and Downton?!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 23/09/2012 21:31

Glad to read you're home star hope you're feeling better.

Minipop has been a nightmare today. He's not slept properly since 1pm, except for a 20min sleep at 7pm and a couple of cat naps. I have no idea what is wrong, have checked all the obvious stuff.

He hasn't slept properly for three days, and I am shattered. DP looked after him for 2 hours this morning so I got extra sleep, but 2 hours extra (although fab) is a drop in the ocean.

Hate days like this. We are back at the hospital tomorrow for MP's four month neonatal review. I am really hoping they can help sort him out, 11 weeks of crying near constant crying & screaming is quite enough, I think.

Am really hoping that lack of sleep during today will mean a long sleep tonight, right? Grin

stargirl1701 · 23/09/2012 23:41

How's it going Minipop? Hope you're getting some sleep. Baby star slept for 4 hours after dinner but just wants to eat now. Could be a long night...

frillylemons · 24/09/2012 05:06

Tonight feels looong Sad

She went from 11-1, 2.20 - 4.30 and is refusing to fall back asleep! So tired.

missingmymarbles · 24/09/2012 06:23

SadFrilly. This too shal pass. It's just bloomin' hard work right now.

Hope you got some sleep, Mini.

So glad you're home now, Star. You can concentrate on fully recovering and enjoying baby Star.

We've had a reasonable night. 2.20 was the first feed again, which was great. Then, 4.45. I put her in the crib but her little nose was all blocked up again so dozed with her on my shoulder. DH lifted her off to lay her down again at 5.45 but she was too snuffly and then she wouldn't settle on him. So she's had another little comfort feed and us asleep on me againSad Could really do with another hour at least.

frillylemons · 24/09/2012 07:20

Thanks missing Smile DH goes back to work today Confused Bit nervous. I'm planning to take it easy and have a sleep if possible!

BabylonPI · 24/09/2012 09:10

Baby Babylon still full of cold Sad

He's feeding ok but seems to cough all night long Sad

The nights also seem very very long at the moment Sad back to feeding three times a night rather than just once - seems to go through from 9pm til 1.30ish then up again at 3 and at 5 SadSad

But is also refusing to take bottles now too so expressing is a waste of my time and effort Sad

Oh woe is me!!!! Smile

This too shall pass Smile

Susieloo · 24/09/2012 12:00

Morning, so glad your home star and frilly try and sleep as much as you can when baby frilly sleeps, it really does help in the early days.

Poor baby marbles and babylon, hope they feel better soon.

How did minipop sleep in the end? I hope the hospital appointment goes well today and they are able to help, you sound like you are doing a fantastic job and I really hope things start to get easier for you.

We had a good night with a 9-2 stretch and he settled straight away and went through till five and then again until 7.45 so I feel slightly more human, he does seem to sleep so much better when we stay with my parents, house is cooler, much darker at night and much quieter for him, I keep threatening to move in!!!! He has had a very sleepy morning so I'll be on nap watch for the rest of the day.

missingmymarbles · 24/09/2012 21:28

Well, Missmarbles has only slept for any length of time in my arms or the car today and that has been a max of 50mins or so. Every time she's been laid down she's woken up. She threw up on my arm while feeding(Hmm just posset) this evening and fell asleep at around 8.30. I laid her in the crib and she seems to still be in a deep sleep. It's an hour earlier than it has been recently. All a bit up-skittled today do I hope it doesn't negatively impact tonight's kipGrin

Susieloo · 25/09/2012 01:43

Babyloo asleep all day after being awake all day yesterday but still ready for bed at nine and just finished first feed of the night, thinking we will be up again around four, hope everyone sleeping peacefullySmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 25/09/2012 02:26

susieloo Minipop was the same, asleep for most of day after being awake most of the day before however after going to bed at 10 he managed 90 minutes before waking up due to tummy problems.

Since then we've been like a yo yo trying to get him asleep, as soon as he's settled and in cot he'll wake back up. Bah!

He's just sunk his bottle & is refusing to burp, so I think I am in for more of the same over the next four hours.

How's baby marbles doing? :)

Poor baby babylon, colds are rubbish aren't they? Minipop has been very snuffly recently, & he spat up loads of mucus earlier (grim!) so I hope that helps him...

Frilly, star, techno & tea - hope all your little ones are behaving tonight, 6 minutes of scrubs left then back to bed.

Hospital went ok, but no real help in solving Minipop's discomfort. He is now 6kg /13 . 2lbs
