MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Poor MinipopSad Hope he settled so you both get some sleep. Wind is so uncomfortable too, isn't it?

I wonder if Missmarbles will have a sleepy day today as she didn't sleep much yesterday, in synch with BabylooGrin? She's done we'll tonight. Just finished first feed; after settling an hour earlier, she's still up at the same time - 6 hours whoop! She's taken a boob and a half (I say half coz it still feels a bit lumpy!), so fare I hope this is us til morning. She's still on my shoulder at the minute, mainly due to snotGrin

On the snot front, how's baby Babylon tonight?

Hope everyone else is sleeping peacefully Smile

BabylonPI · 25/09/2012 03:03

Baby Babylon is not great Sad

He's really mucussy and keeps choking and vomiting when he coughs too much Sad

It's bloody awful, but I've resolved to stay awake tonight to keep an eye on him - poor little fella.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 25/09/2012 03:28

Oh no, poor baby Babylon. Can you take him to doctors tomorrow?

Minipop wouldn't good down properly after the last feed, so he's been making a lot of noise and being a right royal pain in the arse. I haven?t slept properly yet. I think the rest of today is going to be a duvet day. Going to be far to shattered to do anything.

Hope miss marbles is sleeping.

missingmymarbles · 25/09/2012 03:40

She is Mini, but on my shoulder, as like baby Babylon, she was making a right snotty, chokey row when I out her down. Will try again shortly.

missingmymarbles · 25/09/2012 04:37

Ok.
Third attempt and three comfort feeds (definitely not proper ones) and 2 hours since she woke for a feed, later, and she's down; and not thst settled, so I an sat watching to make sure she's ok Sad Clearly I am not going to benefit from her essentially single overnight feed...

MiniPopsMum2012 · 25/09/2012 06:23

Well, sounds like it's been rubbish nights all round. Minipop wouldn't settle at all, he's been up most of the might. Could only get him to settle on me propped up in bed with me, then transferred to bed for, ooh max 10 or 20 mins, cries then rinse & repeat. Boo to rubbish nights like this...

missingmymarbles · 25/09/2012 07:27

Boo to rubbish nights indeed! Pants that it was so rubbish for you and Minipop, Mini.
Proper feed demanded and given at 5.45. Has remained on shoulder since due to much snot, choking like moises and coughing Sad

Susieloo · 25/09/2012 20:04

How are all the poorly babies? I bet you are all knackered after a night like that. Did anyone manage a little nap in the day?

I've come to the conclusion that babyloo is just not getting enough sleep, his eyes look tired and he's so grouchy by the end of the day, I took him to the hv today to be weighed and he is 17lb 9!! I thought his weight gain had slowed down but he has gone up another centile to the 99th. I asked again if at any point they were going to be recommending I try and reduce his feeds and they said not until he is off the charts which is a relief. I am just on hopefully my last feed of the night before he goes to sleep and I won't be far behind him.

Really hope the babies are feeling better and you all have better nights.

TeaandHobnobs · 25/09/2012 20:05

Evenin' all

Well, BabyTea had a reasonable day - he complained a lot of the morning about his teeth, but we popped out to return a sling and went to our first baby massage class, where he was as good as gold and had a whale of a time!

Unfortunately as soon as we got home, he started screaming, and pretty much has been all evening Sad At least my mum was here to help me (and to sing at him, which he loves Grin)

Teething powder did nothing, two applications of dentinox did nothing, so I have resorted to calpol and he is now asleep.

He woke at 2:20 again last night (this has become a recurring theme of late) and although he wasn't crying in pain, they did seem to be bothering him. And at 5:30 he was really screaming.

Teething is so wearing Sad (although not as hard as the early newborn weeks - at least I now get smiles and giggles to compensate for the screeching)

TeaandHobnobs · 25/09/2012 20:10

Wow Susieloo, Babyloo sure knows how to eat for England! Good boy!

BabylonPI · 25/09/2012 20:42

Hi all baby Babylon is doing ok. I think he may be teething actually hence the snot and red cheeks Smile

He's ok though, it's me panicking about him spluttering and choking!!! Blush

missingmymarbles · 25/09/2012 20:53

I'm with you on the panicking about choking and spluttering, Mini, hence I am awake half the night with a baby on my shoulder.

Missmarbles is a big girl too Susie, (was 14lb 6oz, 91st I think) but my hv said as long as she was purely breastfed they wouldn't worry because it tends to fall off them when they get on the move, in a way that it doesn't in formula fed babes.

She fell asleep tonight at 7.45 and woke again 8.15 had a big smile and a big feed and is asleep again. I do hope we repeat last night to 2.30 (at least) and then improve on the 2.30 to 7 bit.

technoduck · 25/09/2012 20:56

Good evening all,
Got back from clearing mil house on Sunday and were all so happy to be home. Ducking has been a angel for the pass two nights only waking a couple of times for a feed then straight back down,I'm hoping that its because me and Mr techno are a lot more relaxed now and that it might carry on. We had are first smile and giggle today! Made me cry, with the amount of stress we have been under recently when I saw that smile it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Susieloo · 25/09/2012 22:10

Why are babies so unpredictable!!!!! I was convinced that babyloo was so tired he would stay asleep but I am on my fourth feed since he first went down at eight fifteen ish - really hope this means he will go through until at least two. I was just starting to feel confident that he would be asleep between half eight and nine.

Glad your home techno and agree the smiles and giggles do make it all worth while. Hope baby tea has an okay night with his teeth and that babies babylon and marbles are not too snotty to sleep, hope you get a good night too minipop.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 26/09/2012 04:28

Morning everyone. We had a rubbish day yesterday, didn't manage to get any naps as DMP decided he wanted to cry ALL day and refused to sleep or be put down. However, it did mean he went to be ok and I have had two two-hour chunks of sleep Grin.

Any better tonight marbles? Is there anything you can give babies for colds?

susie Minipop is on 91st centile for corrected age, he's 13 . 2lbs now... They said to pull back on feeding - errr how exactly?!?

Poor baby tea so not looking forward to teething, however seeing as DMP just cries all the time anyway. Not sure we'd know when he was teething!!

Techno - it's the smiles that dii

MiniPopsMum2012 · 26/09/2012 04:29

Do it now isn't it. :)

how's navy babylon doing?

missingmymarbles · 26/09/2012 05:47

Got to 1ish before first feed. Went to bed slightly earlier so that's ok, but feeding again at 3 and 5. Have just had a snot attack at 5.30 so back on shoulder, but it is improving. Don't think you can give them anything; you can put saline drops up their noses and clear it with a nasal aspirator I think, but I haven't done that, just positioned over shoulder to aid drainage. Am sleepy this morning. Tried a nap yesterday after the rubbish night we'd had but was completely unsuccessful. Urgh, zzzzzzz

BabylonPI · 26/09/2012 06:54

MorningGrin

We've just had a 10.30 til 6.30 stretch yippee!!!

Karvol decongestant drops are my new best friend. 4 drops on a muslin tied to the end of the crib. Baby B has slept soundly, no coughing, choking etc.

Drops safe to be used with babies over 3 months Grin

Grin
Susieloo · 26/09/2012 20:03

Karvol decongestant capsules are on my shopping list for tomorrowGrin babyloo is starting to get very snuffly.

He's had a couple of 40 minute cat naps today but still doesn't seem interested in any proper sleep in the day which is making him so crabby by the time it's bed time, really hoping we don't have a repeat of last night and I'm still feeding at gone ten, he does seem to do a five hour stretch when he's this over tired though so I should be able to get some sleep-eventuallySmile.

Have a good night everyoneSmile

missingmymarbles · 26/09/2012 20:13

Wow! I wish I'd read that before now, Babylon!!
Only done catnaps and seems to have clusterfed all day today too, Susie. Think it might, might, be a growth spurt as she is 11 weeks today and they have one around 3 months, no?

Susieloo · 26/09/2012 20:55

Still feeding.......

Just looked on kellymom and you're right marbles growth spurt at three months and he was 11 weeks on yesterday, although babyloo has pretty much cluster fed from birth!

technoduck · 26/09/2012 21:06

Hello,
Oh no we do seem to have lots of poorly babies, ducking woke up about 4 times last night bloody colic! He's slept for most of today and has just been screaming the rest of the day, Mr techno took him shopping to give me a break and he apparently screamed the whole way around Asda. I felt so bad I had given him a feed before he left and thought they would be ok for 30mins. Hopefully tonight will be better for all of us.

missingmymarbles · 26/09/2012 21:27

Have some Olbas oil in the bathroom and have looked at the box - 3 months is ok - woop! Won't be lying in bed at 4 in the morning, wishing I'd read Babylon's post earlier Wink

BabylonPI · 26/09/2012 21:46

Praying the karvol works again tonight Grin

Magic sleepy dust sprinkled far and wide a very thick layer Grin

Susieloo · 26/09/2012 21:56

Still feeding......

Hate cluster feeds all day and nightSad
