I'll start by stating I couldn't give two shits about two people I don't know.

However, I am finding so much humour in the 'non racist' vitriol from people that don't know them, and who seemingly don't care, yet can't get them out of their mouths!

I can't wait for this Oprah interview (that I might not even bother to watch) because I'll find the obsessive thread after thread on this absolutely hilarious.

To start us who have had a lifetime of this shit off, I thought I'd add to the frothing with this gem!

Kelechi, Shola and Gina were so on point and so unapologetically Black!

I'm hoping we can congrats here for our own analysis later!

Kate and Meghan both suffered bad press. Kate and William rode it out; Meghan and Harry reacted angrily.
Why are you here? Please go back to the main board and spread your negativity there

How do you mean?
BelleHathor · 09/03/2021 22:36

@HmmmmmmInteresting Just feeling weary about all the people on social media saying that they are black and using it as an excuse to have a go at M&H.

I thought that was just a Mumsnet phenomenon (the fake black/mixed race/ married to a guy from Ghana posters hating on Meghan)

BelleHathor · 09/03/2021 23:11

If only Hmmm 😅🤣😂 got me side-eying posts like really? they have a name for them on lipstickalley that I've forgotten but they invaded the Royal Board there around the time the Meghan made Kate cry leaks.

RedMarauder · 09/03/2021 23:17

Nah this type of trolling is just more prevalent on MN.

Benelovencd · 09/03/2021 23:23

That is why I keep repeating proximity to Blackness does not

  1. Make you the authority on what is and isn't racist
  2. Give you an automatic pass into Black spaces
  3. Mean you know what the Black experience is like

All it means is you have a Black friend/relative.

A man having a wife/daughter/mother/sister does not make him all knowing on women's issues or give him an invite into women's spaces. Everyone understands that. Why the fuck would you think race is automatically different.

So I don't care if you have a Black friend, husband or child- it doesn't make you Black.

I'll have to remember this for the next thread
Benelovencd · 09/03/2021 23:44

I will not be lectured on anything Black by a white person just because they managed to conceive a child with a Black person.

Blackness is not sexually transmitted. If you are a white person doing this - stop it, and tell your family to stop using your partner and/or children as a prop in conversations where their clear objective is to minimise racism.

TheBlackTower · 10/03/2021 00:06

@DeeCeeCherry

Do we have White Women in here aiming to tell Black Women how to think feel and speak about racism?

Instead of joining the twisted toxics on the multitude of other threads - that are not in this section?

Which part of 'Black Mumsnetter' don't they understand?

I do see colour

Couldn't have put it better myself. It's always the "I don't see colour" or "I don't care if you are white, black, purple" (see up thread!) brigade who are the most insidiously racist and dangerous.
TheBlackTower · 10/03/2021 00:14

@Benelovencd

Susanna Reid is the quintessential white woman pretending to be progressive and Liberal while upholding the patriarchal and racist structures that work in her favour, but crying she knows how it is because she is a woman. She is complicit and just as guilty. That was a disgusting clip
100%

How you can sit there like a stone, like you don't have a tongue and voice in your mouth, when your colleague is spouting off his bile is nauseating. She was trying to self-preserve but her silence spoke volumes.

No doubt she will return with the #BeKind rubbish. Her deafening silence and sycophantic behaviour to Piers Morgan's vilification of MM in the past was horrible.

TheBlackTower · 10/03/2021 00:21

@skodadoda

Kate and Meghan both suffered bad press. Kate and William rode it out; Meghan and Harry reacted angrily.
Are you joking? The negative press toward MM has been relentless! I can't recall a single positive article. Everything in the mainstream media has been about trying to show how "unsuitable" she is to marry into the RF - her family background, her career, her activism, her "ambition", her race.

Yes, Kate did have some negative press in the early days ('Waity Katey') but that very quickly disappeared and now she is portrayed as a Diana 2.0 - demure, right education, right background, right outfits, popping out adorable photogenic kids every year etc. I wish she had shown a more united front with MM, and been vocal in her support, rather than just being safe and silent.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 10/03/2021 00:35

OMG ITV edited out a part of the interview where Meghan was saying that she's never talked about privacy:

twitter.com/lewisa95/status/1369436176596299777?s=19

This is annoying because it's a topic the Meghan-haters bang on about everything single day. It's very creepy how much the media control the narrative. We're all being controlled.

BluesInTheSun · 10/03/2021 00:45

As a black woman I’ve found public opinion on the H&M interview really depressing. Actually the last few years the undercurrent of racism in the UK has been particularly unbearable. What I think has upset me most is all these post dismissing racism in the UK from white people who really have no business telling poc how to feel. I saw this on Twitter yesterday. Who gave this white man leave to speak for us?

Megan & Harry - I want all of the tea!!!!
Jangirl2018 · 10/03/2021 00:45

@HmmmmmmInteresting

How interesting. I have noted they like to trot that line out about them ‘wanting privacy’ especially on here. If you are informed you will know they have never said anything about that at all, but ITV clearly don’t want to put a stop to that narrative as they know how poisonous it is.

maggiethecat · 10/03/2021 00:51

Did anyone see the exec director of the Society of Editors on Victoria Derbyshire today defending early tabloid headlines about MM such as ‘straight outta Compton” as not being racist?

Explained as the papers simply wanting to highlight the “rags to riches” story.

Not that Meghan was raised by a single mum of modest means who did a good job as a mother. But rather that she had relatives living in drug infested areas Hmm

This was the prelude to the overt racism and character assassination that would ensue and which people have the gall to try to defend.

Jesus wept.

Soo happy to find this safe space 🖤
I nearly left MN.

How many are the ways that I love thisGrin

Benelovencd · 10/03/2021 02:02

I'm sick and tired of being told the UK is tolerant. Who wants to be "tolerated" in their own country?

Cokie3 · 10/03/2021 05:20

@skodadoda

Kate and Meghan both suffered bad press. Kate and William rode it out; Meghan and Harry reacted angrily.
@skodadoda Oh and now the 'Kate and Meghan both suffered bad press' bs. Kate had an easy ride really. And she is the right race, so you cannot compare them. It is disingenuous to even attempt to compare them.
skodadoda · 10/03/2021 07:18

Yes, Kate did have some negative press in the early days ('Waity Katey') but that very quickly disappeared and now she is portrayed as a Diana 2.0 - demure, right education, right background, right outfits, popping out adorable photogenic kids every year etc. I wish she had shown a more united front with MM, and been vocal in her support, rather than just being safe and silent.

And how did Kate earn that portrayal? She earned it, whether you like it or not, by behaving in the way expected by RF. As William said at the engagement interview, he was very careful to give Kate the opportunity to decide whether it was the life she wanted. MM had plenty of positive press. It was her choice to marry into a peculiar family with peculiar expectations. She tried to change an ancient institution. The establishment didn’t like it.

Sprining · 10/03/2021 07:28

Kate has no options, as she had no career.

Meghan is successful and now has a second career as a producer.

She may go into politics later, as they are well regarded by US democratic political establishment.

Why should she have to put up with the misogyny and racism when she can thrive elsewhere?
