I agree with this.
We are well aware that in our community, colourism is a big problem and in most circumstances, black, dark skinned women are left to fend for themselves with very little support form black men/mixed race eg Lupita being called ugly, Maya Jama’s insults to dark skinned women, LeaAnn’s boyfriend tweets etc
However, black women always come out to support our fellow mixed race/black men
This would have been a chance for people like Rochelle and LeaAnn to come to Meghan’s defence.
Although a lot of people have said horrible things and have Meghan’s claims of racism, she has received quite a lot of support. I doubt she would receive any support at all if she was of a darker skin tone.
black women are often neglected and viewed as being able to tolerate more pain( maybe this also explains why we have so really high post Partum mortality rates).
Would a darker skinned be given this platform? Would she have received so much support form celebs?
Finally, regarding Meghan’s rejecting her blackness, I do believe there is an element of that. First, she is not black nor has she identified as such. She is mixed raced. Secondly, I do feel that she plays on it to garner support. I have seen this at her wedding we’re the only black person related to her was her mum. However all the other black people such as Idris Elba( Harry’s guest), Operah and Serena Williams were invited because of their celeb status and obviously as part of an agenda. It’s not “trendy”to be black isn’t it?
I understand she had/ has issues with her dads family and that’s why she (understandable)didn’t invite them. However, she had her mother’s family which completely ignored and has failed to acknowledge.
I have no doubt that horrible things have happened to her and that the media has been digging to find fault with everything she does but I also believe that this Meghan is not as honest as she is claiming to be- lying about sister changing her surname to cash in and lying that she grew up as an only child when there is evidence to prove otherwise- and using race as a tool to refute reproach.
As a final though, the fact that the media has painted Meghan as manipulating Harry as if he was a little child who cannot take responsibility over his actions is abhorrent. Harry need to grow a pair and stop crying like a little b about being cut off. You want financial independence but also continue to receive financial support.Cant have it both ways .
