Well said jodey

One of my dogs could be perceived to be aggressive, and he is never let off the lead, ever. I really hope they do learn from this, but it's bad that it had to happen to you xx

sassy Wow! A boy and a girl! And lovely names too :) x Mahoosive congratulations!

Swordfishtrombones · 17/08/2010 20:55

Hoorah and hooray! Well done Sassy! That's fantastic news and beautiful names. I bet you feel light as a feather now Grin

sazziej · 17/08/2010 20:55

Sassy wow - huge congratulations..... glad you are home and progressing well.

I have had backache for the last 48hours... picked up pram and carseat today - in storage at nanas house... not long now ladies...

bananastew · 17/08/2010 21:02

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh Enough with the "any twinges?" I'm not due for another 2 weeks! I can't put up with this for a possible 4 more weeks! I might just scream at the next person who asks me!!!!

Jaysfourth · 17/08/2010 21:09

quick post

many congratulations to all new mummies hope everything is going well with your new arrivals :)

Jodey, sorry to hear the news. I remember being chased down by a dog when i was about 8, it was the most scariest thing ever... thankfully it didnt put me off of them, but for a long time i couldnt go near the same place again. Hope you are feeling a bit better now?

well have been in hospital for a week now, with no sign of her turning into head down position. So today the consultant performed a ECV, which involved me having a presentation scan (showing oblique) they then proceeded to turn baby round and it proved successful, in that her head was down. I then was monitored for an hour to ensure all was ok and i was given anti D ( i am o- ) just in case there was any blood cross over. I am now back on ward waiting till tomorrow to see if she has stayed down. IF she stays down, i have requested a controlled ARM ( membrane rupture) and so the induction would begin. IF she has moved, i will be staying in hospital till next Tuesday ( due date) where i would have a repeat ECV and ARM at the same time.....failing all this, a Section will be booked for after due date..... phew, hope that made sense.

Its been getting me down a bit, all the decisions you have to make and wondering if what you are doing is the right thing. But from day one i have said (unless needed) i dont want a section, and have made this clear to everyone... they all seem to be supporting me in my decisions, which is really good and we are just taking it day by day.

Will try and update as soon as. xx

ooosabeauta · 17/08/2010 21:24

Congratulations sassy! That's wonderful news and I hope you're feeling well. Lovely names too Smile

Had gone to bed by the time you were on mellymooks, hope you managed to get some rest at some point in the night. I remember this sort of stage last time with ds and being up watching sailing in the Beijing Olympics because there was nothing on at 4 in the morning!

Sorry to hear about that horrible dog incident Jodey. I hope your neighbour is being very considerate towards you now. Nasty thing to happen at any time, but especially when you're a bit vulnerable.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/08/2010 21:54

Congratulations sassy34264 glad you are all home safe and well.

Have been thinking of you Jaysfourth, good news that you are being supported and fingers crossed that all goes well for the rest and you can avoid the cs.

As I was induced with DS I'm starting to think about what it will be like to actually go into labour. Everyone expects me to know but am just as in the dark as a first time mum and it does worry me, although I'm sure I will know in plenty of time!

sassy34264 · 17/08/2010 22:21

Thanks everyone.

Woke up 6.30am thinking i'd let out a bit of wee. But when I stood up it was rather obvious my waters had gone! Had to put bath towels between my legs (midwife tried to give me a maternity pad when i got to the hospital!)
They wanted to send me home after some obs they said, to try and wait longer because i 35+5. Fortunately the babies had other ideas and within 3 hours i was in full labour. Contractions were not very painful and 10 mins apart for a while and then just jumped to very very painful and almost no break within 20 mins.
DP kept having a little peep over the screen. I'm like 'don't look, i don't want you fainting etc' Next minute, he's stood up and watching it all as 1st baby was being pulled out. They didn't say what it was, and let DP see it was a boy to tell me. They did the same with Isobel. I was just crying and watching DP's face- it was so lovely. Told DD over the phone in recovery and she was screaming down the phone and i could hear my mum sobbing in the background.
Jacob looks like Chloe did when she was born. Isobel is very little, with dainty features. I'm so happy, couldn't of wished for two more beautiful babies.

sassy34264 · 17/08/2010 22:39

Jacob and Isobel

Chathappy · 17/08/2010 22:48

Congratulations sassy !!! so nice to read your bs - and beautiful names too (Jacob is the name of my ds1) Smile

Not long now for the rest of us. I've actually not been feeling too bad physically this week but it's been a strange couple of days as my eldest brother tried to commit suicide yesterday (and came close) so I was at a and e yesterday with him and now he's been transferred to a mental health hospital (he has suffered from schizophrenia for years but never done this before). Just been to the mental health unit this evening visiting him.

So not the best week.... Trying to stay a bit focused on getting organised and ready for baby at the same time now. It's certainly taken my mind off pregnancy/babies for a couple days with so much going on.

36+6

Chathappy · 17/08/2010 22:49

Ps jacob and Isobel are gorgeous Smile

AliKatt · 17/08/2010 22:53

Wow, I miss a week and 3 babies born!! Many, many congratulations to Debs and Sassy Grin

Jaysfourth really hope that baby stays the right way round for you. Hope you feel a bit more cheerful soon. Great that the hospital is supportive and that you're able to make decisions based on what feels right for you :) Looking forward to hearing news of your little one!!

Jodey the dog incident sounds awful... people like that give all of us responsible dog owners a bad name. Hope you're feeling a bit better about it now and that they stay well clear of you from now on.

I had GP appt today - all fine :) Bump now looks HUGE but is apparently measuring normal for dates. I'm only 5'1 so maybe it just sticks out more because there's less vertical space! The 'I can't believe you've still got 6 weeks to go' comments are starting to get a bit tired now Hmm

That said, I've been lucky so far with no aches or grumbles to speak of. Sorry to hear that some of you are suffering... it'll be worth it and REALLY not long now :)

Sorry not to have caught up on the whole thread. Hope everyone else is doing well :)

MammyG · 17/08/2010 23:03

Oh sassy - making me blub!! heartiest congratulations - they are beautiful.

Oosa - thanks for posting the list. Was actually going to ask for one as I have totally forgotten what I need and must get a bag packed this week.

Jody - you poor thing. Those dogs sound horrific. Or rather their owners very irresponsible. I would have the guards call round or something simply because in a few weeks you will have a buggy and baby too!

Chathappy - thinking of you. My sister isnt stable either so I know what a drain it can be and how all consuming it can be too. Please take care of yourself. you will have to rope in others to help support your brother to limit the load on you.x

Put nursery furniture together today (rather DH did!) feeling excited now. must pack bag. Jealous of all you with imminent due dates. I was overdue on both boys by 15 and 10 days. Quite sure I will be having an october baby - will any of you even still be here to announce to?? Have never gone into labour sponateously and would love to as hated induction but on the other hand I live 1 1/2 hours from the hospital so not sure.

Jays - glad you are being supported. Hope you are not finding confinement too frustrating. Thinking of you.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/08/2010 00:07

Beautiful picture sassy34264 they look so contented together :)

skyeplusbump · 18/08/2010 07:48

sassy they are sooo beautiful.
thankyou,i really needed a reminder of what this is all for today.Smile

MammyG · 18/08/2010 10:14

Thanks again oosa! Saved me a lot of bother.

mellymooks · 18/08/2010 14:37

Sassy Congrats they are gorgeous, your photo had me in tears!!

Jodey what a horrible experience I think you were really brave I would have been terrified

Chathappy thinking of you, have had my own experiences with my ex-husband and my Dad having serious mental health problems I echo mammy make sure you are not trying to cope on your own with it.

I wonder who will be next?!
I saw the midwife last night and apparently our boy is well down into my pelvis and she said this is quite unusual for a 2nd baby as often they don't really engage at all and could mean he comes sooner........... of course she then went on to say I was welcome to deck her when I'm 2 weeks O/D Grin !!!!!

Really struggling to sleep at night now, so hard to get comfy and a very busy brain.

MIL here next 2 days so going to try and take advantage and do lots of resting and try and finish sorting stuff out and PACK MY HOSPITAL BAG!!!!!!!

parkj83 · 18/08/2010 14:55

sassy they are gorgeous :) xx

coppertop · 18/08/2010 15:42

Wow! Just caught up with this thread again. Congratulations to you both, Debs and Sassy. I clicked on the link to see the photo of Jacob and Isobel and even my 4yr-old and 7yr-old are cooing away about how gorgeous the babies are. :)

Good luck with the baby's position, Jaysfourth. Fingers and toes crossed for you that you get to avoid a c/s.

Great to hear little Raphael is doing well, Love2Dance.

I still haven't got around to packing my hospital bag yet so really need to get organised. Blush

Nothing much happening here. The baby's head down but still floating around. I'm measuring ahead again so have been told I might need a growth scan because I've had biggish babies before.

Hope everyone else is okay.

bananastew · 18/08/2010 16:35

Melly don't get your hopes up! MW said the same to me nearly 2 weeks ago! I'm still sat here waiting! Someone I know had her baby today. she was due after me. not fair!!!

Sassy they are absolutely beautiful. Hope you're not suffering too much.

Swordfishtrombones · 18/08/2010 16:41

Sassy those babies are absolutely gorgeous! You are so lucky!

I've just about finished gathering everything together for labour/birth/hospital if I go in. Thanks to Oosa for the comprehensive list. I think you have missed off flapjacks and confectionery though! Mr Kipling are on offer in Sainsbury's so I've stocked up Just In Case! (Give me mini battenberg's over hospital grub any day).

Good luck Jay - it must be so frustrating being stuck in hospital. Are you a 'list person'? I'd be scribbling reams of lists for DH Grin

Dixiebell · 18/08/2010 17:10

Congratulations sassy - so gorgeous and sweet together, and how wonderful to have one of each.

So random question, I packed my hospital bag at the weekend, but couldn't fit everything in it! So have a separate bag for the bubs' stuff, and that still doesn't include pillow and clothes to come home in....is this ridiculous? How big are everyone's hospital bags? I was thinking I'd just have a smallish carryall, but looking like I might need to get out my proper wheelie suitcase. Will they laugh at me if I turn up with 3 bags of stuff?!

We're going to Cornwall for a week in early Sept for a wedding, at which point I will be 37+ weeks...this is a 5 hour drive from home. Am getting a bit worried now that this is also a ridiculous thing to do!

34+3

cinnamongreyhound · 18/08/2010 18:19

I think a lot of people have 2 bags Dixiebell one for labour and one for after labour. As long as it's out of the way I'm sure they won't mind what you bring with you. A friend of mine took loads of cd's, a stereo and cushions and never used any of them must have taken up a reasonable amount of space!

Been to midwife today, the baby's head is still free (no surprise to me) and I'm measuring a bit small but as I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago that showed he's above average she said I am just hiding him well! Otherwise all is normal.

Wanted to ask if everyone else has a similar system re sweeps? When I had DS I was booked to talk about induction and have a sweep at 40+11 and had induction next day from about 25 weeks. This time around they do a sweep at 40+7 and 40+10 at home and then if nothing happens they will book you for an induction. Not that I mind the later they want to induce me the better as I'd really like to avoid it if possible and am considering refusing anyway.

JodeyLea · 18/08/2010 18:31

Sassy your BS made me cry. Bet your DP was amazed. Must have been such a beautiful and powerful moment. They look gorgeous.

Jays, bet it is really getting you down being on a hospital ward rather than at home but as you said, you are getting the support you need which is the main thing. Good luck and best wishes.

Sorry to hear your news chathappy. Take care of yourself.

Had MW appointment today at doctors. I swear I see a different one each time!!!! All is good. Baby's measurement was still above the 90th centile but was closer to the line than the previous two. Wonder if they have my dates out slightly? Anyway, no need for a growth scan so pleased about that.

Off to B&Q now to buy paint and new light fitting for the nursery.

Hope you are all well ladies, not long to go now!!!
