ooosabeauta · 16/08/2010 23:04

Congratulations Debs !! That's amazing news Smile

Glad things are sorted hospital-wise Whammie. It's so much nicer feeling you know what you're doing in advance so it doesn't just lurk in the back of your mind.

I typed up a special, comprehensive hospital bag list which I'm sorely tempted to share just because it's about the only thing I've achieved this week. Would it be unreasonable? I know most people have got theirs done but I'm still glowing with satisfaction at just having finished it Grin

ooosabeauta · 16/08/2010 23:18

Since no one's objected yet, here it goes... Grin

  • Three nighties
  • Baby clothes to go home in (hat, blanket, nice babygro with feet)
  • Five bodysuits and babygros
  • My clothes to go home in
  • Maternity towels
  • Knickers, bfing bra
  • Newborn nappies, wipes, nappy bags
  • Camera
  • Birth plan
  • Towels
  • Anti-bac wipes
  • Carrier bag for dirty clothing
  • Lip balm
  • Body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair bands, toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Bottles of water
  • Snack
  • Glucose tablets
  • Dressing gown
  • Slippers
  • Paracetamol
  • Car seat

I don't travel light! Blush

ooosabeauta · 16/08/2010 23:19

Ooh, and

  • arnica tablets.
skyeplusbump · 16/08/2010 23:31

ohhh, thanks! the only things i left out were the arnica and a carrier bag...nice! Grin

also suddenly realised i do not have enough babygrows and vests ahhhhhhhh!!!!

ooosabeauta · 17/08/2010 00:03

I only used one babygro and a hat and blanket last time (went straight home), but my mumsnet research this time suggested five are necessary, and who am I to disagree Confused

I've really got to go to bed...

ooosabeauta · 17/08/2010 00:06

Incidentally the reason I'm up so late is my dh is out at a friend's house, and I can't relax until he's back in the nest. Is anyone else feeling really clingy to their partner at the moment? Another 'must be the hormones' moment I suppose...

mellymooks · 17/08/2010 02:51

Hi ooosa you still up?

I can't sleep, can't get comfy and mind going about 100 miles an hour.

Real restless legs and wriggly baby.

Impressed with hospital list, I will be stealing some of them to help me get my arse in gear!!

parkj83 · 17/08/2010 09:06

Morning all :)

Congratulations Debs!

Melly I'm still dithering over packing a bag - I should really, just in case, but I'm worried it'd tempt fate with the hb Confused lol :)

Question... what is the arnica for?!

skyeplusbump · 17/08/2010 09:09

park its for bruising...down there...[Blush Smile

parkj83 · 17/08/2010 09:26

Ah! equal Blush !!

JodeyLea · 17/08/2010 10:18

Huge congrats debs. Hope you and baby are doing well x x x

Gosh, it has taken me ages to catch up. Just returned from camping (yes, i am mad). It wasn't too uncomfortable and i just loved being out in the fresh country air.

I too have been feeling very emotional and crappy recently! Not so much physically but mentally. A couple of weeks ago, my dog got attacked by 3 other dogs (the neighbours) whilst I was out walking him. They are German Shepards and they have hated my dog since they moved in. They are very aggressive and have to be muzzled. For some stupid reason, my neighbour let them off the lead before a blind corner and when they saw me and Rufus they just ran over and pounced. I had to try and pull them off him and although they couldn't bite him, then just wouldn't stop jumping on him and pulling him to the ground. I was on the ground trying to protect my dog and got pulled around a bit to the point where my knees and shins were bruised and bleeding. It seemed to last for ages. I felt completely traumatised and kept thinking about the blood bath that would have happened if they hadn't been muzzled. Eventually a man passing by was able to grab two of the dogs, my neighbour had already grabbed one of them and was lying on him to stop him coming back over. Now, i have been banned by DH and my family from walking the dog and have to rely on family and friends to walk him for me when DH is in London working. Feel like i have totally lost my independence and still feel very emotional when thinking about what happened, particularly because they live next door and i see the dogs all of the time. I feel very angry and can't seem to get the attack out of my head.

Anyway, moving on to brighter things - baby names. Loved reading your name choices. We have decided on Poppy Lea for a girl and either Harlyn James or Sebastian James if it's a boy. I'm o excited to meet our little one who i have nicknamed Rippley for now as it constantly makes my tummy look like an alien is rippling beneath the surface of my skin. Still makes me smile.

I have a MW appointment tomorrow to see if the baby is still measuring above the 90th centile. If it is, they will send me for a growth scan.

Nursery is still not finished, i haven't packed my bag or washed my baby clothes and blankets!!! Need to get myself organised methinks.

Ribs are starting to ache and finding sitting on the sofa uncomfortable too. Time to bow up the ball. Sleeping and eating well.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/08/2010 10:57

My neighbour had her dog attacked when she was 8 months pregnant JodeyLea and she felt very similar to you. She was actually bitten by the dog and didn't go out in the same place for a long time. I would say that you should report her to police as they are obviously dangerous if she has to muzzle them and having to lay on them to stop them attacking is not safe when she has 3. I would suggest taking your dog somewhere else as I know how lovely it can be to get away from everything for half an hour with your dog :)

My DH often says a pregnant woman is where they got the idea for aliens from! I love Sebastian but DH hates it so a no to that for me :(. My DS is James so a definite yes from me on that!

And I am also getting some rib pain but only on my right side, not sure if it's the way I sit or the position of the baby, he's laying down my left and kicking in my right hand side.

Swordfishtrombones · 17/08/2010 11:14

Congratulations Deb! Wonderful news and sounds a good weight. I can't wait now - I'm so excited about meeting DC3!

Sorry to hear your news JodeyLea - that sounds awful and really scary. I think you were really brave and I'm not sure what I'd have done in that situation. How horrible for you and poor Rufus. I'd definitely second Cinnamon though and try and get somewhere else for a dog walk (far from horrible neighbours). I hope you report the dogs. Were the neighbours apologetic? I can't imagine anyone not being totally mortified about it, but then again I can't imagine wanting to keep 3 large dogs that need muzzling. I'm not really a dog person can you tell?

Not much to report here. We're selling our car (nothing like leaving things to the last minute) and hopefully getting a bigger one this week. I'll feel a bit weird without a car, but since I've booked the homebirth I guess any transferring would be by ambulance anyway so not really an issue.

I've had a really sharp stitch-like pain on the left hand side of my bump for a few hours though. could it be stress or something more exciting? I've been getting a lot of BHs but this pain is more constant and horrible. Probably a ligament or something I suppose. Baby is wriggling a lot though to reassure me wich is always nice Grin

parkj83 · 17/08/2010 13:41

OMG Jodey that is not acceptable!

Especially as they live next door. Has your neighbour apologised for it at all? And how did they get to you? (i.e. are they in the front garden and barged out, or was the front door left open?) either way, they clearly weren't restrained enough for the issues they have.

Oh I hope you do manage to find a way to keep walking your dog x

I've had to give up walking my 2, mostly because the big one is just too much for me to handle, but also because I'm in agony after shuffling more than 100 yards! :o

Congratulations Debs ! I was wondering when the next baby would be born... 2 down now! Grin

Jodey - Poor you... how scarey! Sounds like those dogs need to be kept on a lead at all times. I hope that your neighbour has been very apologetic and rethinks how they walk them.

I'm also having my last haircut this afternoon! Thought I best squeeze one in for me and the 2DC before number 3 arrives. Just feel like I could do with a nap instead! I seem to wake for, one of many, toilet trips in the early hours and struggle to get back to sleep. Can take about an hour and this has been going on for over a week now! Also waking with awful heartburn... may have to try sleeping sitting up!

bananastew · 17/08/2010 16:18

Hi. Congratulations Debs and Love2dance great to hear that you're both doing well

Had a busy weekend. Ds was 2yrs yesterday so we had a party on sunday and nice family day yesterday. I'm shattered now. Really ready for this little one to come. My ribs have had enough and I'm fed up of being woken in the night with really bad pains. I'm not going to know when I'm really in labour!
Also the longer he stays inside, I'm at risk of changing my mind about his name. Its now back to a choice of Oliver James or Lucas James.

Congratulations, sassy!!! Fabulous weights, great that you are all back home now. Can't wait to hear how it went, been wondering where you'd got to and thinking, hmm, I wonder if she's had them already...

bananastew · 17/08/2010 18:38

Wow, great news sassy congratulations! absolutely love the names too! As bellabelly said, good weights! How have you managed to carry them around? Ds was 6lb 7oz and I struggled with just him!

LadyRabbit · 17/08/2010 18:38

Wow!!! Congrats Debs, Love2Dance and sassy !! Sassy, how the hell did you manage to go round carrying 14lbs of baby??!! Woah lady, you have my total respect and awe.

This is exciting, it means we're in the home straight now. I am SOOOOO ready to have this little man, saw doc today who said baby is growing great, still more growth to come and I was like 'How?! How much bigger can I get? Where will his ever kicking legs go?!!'

whammie76 yep, I'm still working, after a fashion but my days are getting shorter simply because I get so much more tired. Very lucky that I work for myself, I guess. Planning on working until I go in to the hospital to have baby, as the more work I do before baby comes, the more time I can take off for maternity. Hoping to get the best part of 3 months before I ease back into things.

Jodey that sucks about your neighbours' dogs. I've got two small JRTs and they are frequently prey for these great big Pitbull crosses that I am sure are almost illegal but you get a lot of in urban areas. It's really scary and distressing having to get between dogs fighting, but even more so when you're heavily pregnant. Have your neighbours apologised? All I can say is that thank Gawd those dogs were muzzled. IME, German Shepherds are big, but generally quite well behaved - strikes me that their owners may not be doing a very good job of keeping their aggression under control. You shouldn't feel that you can't walk your dog freely because of them, that's not on.

Hope everyone's well. Just think, a month from now we should all be out of the waiting room and on the other side.... a scary thought for some us for whom this is the first time!!!

Wonderful news Sassy. Double congrats to you. x x x x x

As for the neighbours with the dog situation, they were apologetic and looked extremely embarrassed. Its a lady that lives there with her 3 fully grown sons (as in men in their 30's - 40's). Its actually the sons who own a big dog each and the mom has a little staffy who is adorable. The sons are a bit dim to say the least and have bought the dogs up to be aggressive (in my opinion). With names like Mad Max, Tyson and Butch, you can imagine how they have been treated. They are not quite all the ticket really. We were out walking downthe nature reserve right by our house so the attack was on neutral territory. If DH is away, i now ask my mom or dad to meet me up the woods instead as I know they don't walk there. What i couldn't believe was 1: they were let off the lead as i feel aggressive dogs should never be off the lead regardless to whether they are muzzled or not, and 2: Only one son was walking them. How on earth he thought he could walk three big aggressive dogs is beyond me. I told them that their doss should never be off the lead and there should always be at least two of the sons walking them. So far, I haven't seen them leave the street with less than 2 of the sons so I hope this has been a lesson for them. I just need to put it behind me now and move on.

Right, 3 down and lots more to go! Who's going to be next to post their birth news? So so exciting x
