Hooray! New thread we must be getting there!
Hope everyone doing ok, am so much more tired this time round juggling a toddler and work, can't wait to finish now only 9 actual working days left and counting! (jamilly have lots of leave to use up!!)

The kitchen is nearly finished it's been epic but it looks fab can't wait to not be camping out in our living room anymore!!

Got another super wriggly one here huge back flips and somersaults going on most of the time.

mellymooks, only 9 days left?! I am green with envy. I'm going to attempt to last until almost the bitter end and leave at 38 weeks. But guess that might depend on how hot it gets this summer and how closely I resemble the back end of a bus by then.

Am already a bit de-mob happy at work though so am probably as much use as a chocolate teapot most of the time.

That's great Debs75 enjoy your Tuesday off! I have a growth scan on 8th July, hubby's very excited about it anyway!

Very jealous about maternity leave, I'm a childminder and all my parents are trying to plan around my due date as I am planning to work until I drop to help them all out! Fingers crossed I can make it, feel fine at the moment and not very big. I worked until 38 weeks with DS and he was 2 weeks late so wished I'd stayed longer, hope I feel as well this time.

I am also at the idea of leaving work as soon as that! I am not madly enthusiastic about my work right now, not that I'm doing boring or difficult stuff, it's just that my mind is elsewhere... but then I also fear that if I was at home, I'd do much less and it would be even harder to get through the time! At least keeping busy(ish) makes the time pass. I've planned to work until 38 weeks (assuming all continues to go well) but am rather wishing it was earlier than that, now!

Sorry to make you all jealous with my working days left!! I actually finish at the end of July but have 2 weeks leave to use up before that and am then taking all of August as A/L as well so not actually starting my official Mat leave until 2nd Sept, but because the authority I work for have this bizarre thing where everyone's leave year runs from their birthday month so mine runs July - June which means it's fallen perfectly for me to just have to use up all my leave before I start Mat leave jammy I know

Oh good, brand new thread, just marking my place! Midwife visit today, all fine and got my forms, hoorah!

I have my 28 week scan tomorrow. Just hoping over the next 5 scans that i don't accidentally see the sex of one or both babies.
Bought the first things today for the babies. Vowed to wait till I was 28 weeks; I will be in 2 days.....close enough!

Back from scan and feeling quite anxious. Babies are fine, in that they are moving alot, strong heartbeats, all major organs fine, fluid around them fine etc. But they are both off the scale (bigger than the 100 percent tile) for most of the measurements.
I asked if this percentile was specifically for twins but it's the same one used for singletons! I have to go for a GTT next friday incase that's why they're so big. They have estimated the weights at 3.4 pounds and 2.9 pounds. I know that they do get the weights wildly wrong, but can they possible get the measurements wrong? They've told me i won't go to term, and freaky out that i'm gonna have 2 babies in neonatal.

sorry to hear about your scan Sassy. try and stay calm and wait for the GTT to see if you get any answers. I have no experience of measurements etc showing large babies, but I do have plenty of experience of being told worrying things at scans that turned out to be nothing at all, so try not to fret if you can. Fingers crossed.

I'm just off for a 29wk midwife appt and I'm a bit worried that my stomach will be heard digesting the rather large lunch its just had, instead of a heartbeat

I've just moved to a new area, so have first midwife meeting tomorrow - because it's a different health authority, have to go through the whole booking in process all over again! Bit weird at almost 26 weeks but hey.

Has anyone booked antenatal classes yet? Or started them? I'm wondering whether it's worth doing the NCT ones or just stick with the standard ones...interested in any experiences.

And I'm planning on working right up to 39 weeks, in the conviction that bubs will be late and I'll be v.bored at home. But colleague just gave birth 10 days early - would not like to be in the office when I go into labour...followed by a 90 min journey just to get back home..!!

Sassy - I have no idea about measurements etc, try not to worry and wait until GTT results (I know this is easier said than done)

Dixiebell - how ridiculous that you have to go through booking in process again!

I have booked ante-natal classes via ante natal clinic in hospital - they start in two weeks time,and are over 4 sessions, I have no idea what to expect.

My local childrens centre also holds classes (which are free), they run over two sessions and start next week, my friend is coming to the first one with me as my DH is away next week.

My nursery furniture is being delivered tomorrow, even though we've not decorated the room yet, but it's going to be stored at my parents until we're ready. The only thing I need to get now is the cot mattress, feeling pretty calm and organised at the moment.

Hope everybody is feeling ok and enjoying the sunny weather - (off to attempt to knit some baby bunting for the nursery )

Gosh not long to go!

Someone asked me today when I'm due and I airly said "1 Sept" in an "ages away" kind of way and he said "Oh just 10 weeks to go then" - which scared the cr*p out of me!

DH and I are doing maternity leave budget planning which is a really good incentive to breastfeed - we are going to be skint! Then I suppose my big outlays every month have tended to be restaurants, gigs, holidays, big nights out.. none of which will be happening any time soon.

My best friend is thowing me a baby shower, I know they're very "American" but I am so touched. Girlfriends, cake and bubbly, what more could you want...

I'm having a baby shower too, Skatergrrl! yes, a bit American, but hey, it will be a good "repayment" for me having organized my friend's hen do (not being married I haven't had a hen do meself). And a lovely opportunity for friends to gather round before everything changes for ever!

sassy34264 I have to have to extra growth scans at 32 and 36 weeks due to my BMI making me more at risk of large babies. Had GTT with no probs but still waiting with baited breath for scan as I'm measuring 2 weeks over with fundal measurements.

I asked the consultant when he first mentioned the scans how accurate they were, as I was worried about being induced due to a big baby that wasn't actually very big and he said it's not very accurate but better than fundal measurement. Not sure if that makes you feel any better but after that I'm certainly not going to place too much faith in it!

With my first I was 3 weeks over by fundal measurements and was told he was going to be 10lb+ but was 8lb 12 two weeks overdue so not really so big especially if he'd been on time.

I had my 28 week MW appointment today. All seems ok... baby is currently breech so hopefully will flip over soon!

Dixiebell - I'd definately do the NCT antinatal course if this is your first. Its not so much about what you learn doing the classes, although depending on your current knowledge can be handy. Its more about making friends with local women who are due at the same time as you.
I did the classes when I had ds 7 years ago, and we all still meet every week!
Didn't need to do classes when had dd as all my nct friends from the first time had dc2 at a similar time!
I remember walking into the first session... my mum said I had to go to make good friends... and I though none of these people are anything like me! But having babies brought us all really close and I've never spent money so well

sazziej- it's not really the gtt that i'm bothered about. Whether i have it or not the babies are still big. It's the chance of prematurity that is unsettling me.

cinnamongreyhound- i have read lots of stories about them getting the sizes very wrong. My student midwife friend told me they can be wrong by 2 pounds. Unfortunately though my DD was 9lb 12 oz, so there is some history there. I hope that your growth scans are more reassuring.

I am more calm now. Nothing i can do, will just have to hope for the best. Going to buy everything for my hospital bag this week though- just incase.

sassy - sorry you've had a worrying time. Did they explan what thy meant when they said you won't go to term? I mean, were they talking just a couple of weeks early because they'll maybe need to intervene or were they talking spontaneous labour several weeks early? If you didn't get a clear picture of what they mean, do ask for clarification. FWIW, and you probably know this, 37 weeks+ is often considered term for twins or more. Just hope they've explained what they mean and aren't adding to your stress by being unclear. Again, this might not mean much but when I was preg with the boys, everyne from MW to consultant said "well, you've booked your elcs (for 38 wks) but they'll definitely come before then, twins always do..." er no, actually, I never had a single twinge of labour coming on and had my csect as planned. Bit miffed looking back that I spent so much of the pregnanc terified that I'd go into labour way too early.

The other thing to hold on to is that if I remember correctly, growth realy slows down in the later weeks because there's hardly any room left for them to grow. Hopfully later scan measurements might be more reassuring.
