Morning everyone .. Thanks for the welcome ..

Nomore and Clueless I know exactly how you feel ..this is my third pregnancy and they couldn't be anymore medically managed ..I'm due for my gtt in a couple more weeks too as have a dd with type 1 and a dad with type 2 ..I'm hoping they will let me drink lucozade
Rather than that horrific glucose syrup they made me drink last time..
Are you on insulin Nomore ?

For thos eof you looking at support belts my physio has just recommended the Serola Sacro Iliiac support maternity belt - it cost 30.00 and I'm waiting for the postie to arrive with mine .. Will let you know how I get on ...went for my acupuncture yesterday - have been in agony all night - but acupuncturist told me that the pain may be worse for a few days but if it did that could be a very good sign .. So have all my fingers crossed. Smile

Congratulations on setting a date Boris - that's lovely news ! And your lo will be able to be there too - that's lovely .. We got married when my dd was 1 and she was a flower girl .. Ds was a four year old best man ! Too cute for words .. However dd spent the ceremony destroying her flower ball and in a lot of the photos you see my ds grinning and giggling with his shirt pulled out - generally acting the clown while everyone else is behaving immaculately !! But I do love those pictures ..

What sort of a "do" are you going for .

lilrahi · 14/08/2010 14:41

Hi everyone. This is my first post.

I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant with my second child. Fingers crossed, so far not any problem apart from slight pelvic pain which goes away after about a couple of minutes of walking.

Baby is really active and I love watching my stomach wriggle when she kicks.

I really can't remember my pregnancy with my son, even though it was only 3 yrs ago, so everything seems brand-new. I had a c-section with my son so never went into labour and that's the only thing that is scaring me so far.

mumcha · 14/08/2010 15:40

Hi all i havent posted in so long. Glad every1 is well my little 1 weighed 1lb 6oz at my 25 wk scan .Well i went to asda last wk and got lots of baby stuff reduced from their baby wk .i got 414 huggies size 3 nappies for £16.50,24 packets of baby wipes for £10,10 dummies for £2.50,a stairgate for£7.50,a baby walker for£12.50,a johnsons baby box thing with bath stuff etc in it for £5.00 , a baby bouncer for £7.50 and a high chair for £ 10.00 lol. So i now have everything in for baby except cot sheets.

KiwiKat · 14/08/2010 19:25

Not sure if anyone will remember me, it's been so long since I've been on here. I have a ds (4) and our baby is due 26 Nov, so am 25 weeks. And our little girl (THAT was a shock, we were convinced we were having another boy!) is kicking up a storm, usually in the afternoon and evening.

I've just been made redundant after nearly 6 years and I'm astounded by how many people think that pregnancy offers some kind of protection from this. Maternity leave, yes, but the onus is on you to prove that the pregnancy was part of the reason for getting rid of you.

I'm another Londoner - well, a Kiwi really, but I've lived here 6 years - living in East London, so would love to meet any of you other Londoners if you plan a get-together. Or, like Sabie on Babycentre, have I not posted enough??? Grin

cluelessnchaos · 14/08/2010 20:50

I am really shocked by the too new for meet ups, surely the newer you are the more you need a meet up, hi again kiwikat

Vix7 · 15/08/2010 11:02

KiwiKat,
I'm in east london too.
wha?? not posting enough on Babycentre = not allowed to meet up? doesn't make sense to me.

addictedisgettingexcited · 15/08/2010 20:26

hi all, i havent posted in ages, i just keep loosing you and i just feel like crap constantly so havent been around much.

had a bit of a scare last sunday when we thought the baby was going to try and make an appearence (i'm only 28 weeks) went in to hospital, which was a laugh in itself as we had no idea where the maternity unit was and were wondering around the hospital at 4am trying to find someone who knew where it was Shock still, glad we did it now, i dont want to be in labour and doing that! then i was hooked up to alsorts of machienes and drips had some tests done and swabs taken and when they were happy it was all ok discharged Smile

then i had a phone call from the hospital mw to tell me i have strep B Shock i had no idea! so again i'm really glad it all happened last weekend because had i not have found out that the baby could have gotten really ill just by me giving birth. but it does mean more injections during labour [shudder] i hate needles!

i've decided this will be the first and last baby i give birth to, i am NOT going through this again!

kiwi i remember you! hello.

on babycenter you have to be a regular poster to meet up?! thats sounds really silly.

tiany · 15/08/2010 20:50

boris congrats on setting ur wedding date, thats lovely news :)

kiwi kat sorry to hear about redundancy... actually happened to one my friends aswell.. its difficult timing but i think worked out well in the end as she got to spend lot of time with her little one and decided not to return to work until now (he is 1.5yrs)

Ordered my cot today.. and bought lots more babygrows yesterday... so i am getting there!

addictedisgettingexcited · 15/08/2010 21:08

sorry kiwi, i completly missed the bit about you being made redundant. i'm sorry to hear that. agree its not great timing, but hopefully something else will turn up, or it will turn out for the best. fingers crossed for you

umf · 16/08/2010 09:39

SPD - I've been given some Pilates exercises which really help. So if anyone's suffering and is thinking about spending money on treatment, would highly recommend finding a good pilates instructor with experience in the area.

comtessa · 16/08/2010 13:21

Hello kiwikat, welcome to the pregnant-and-redundant club. I've luckily found some temping work, nowhere near as interesting or stressful as my previous work (legal representation for asylum seekers) but close to home and friendly colleagues. Definitely something of a silver lining as I used to work such long hours.
Congratulation to boris - that's great news!

Hmm, looking at everyone's scan dates and weights of babies, think I'll ask to get checked for gestational diabetes at next midwife appt. Or whether it could possibly be twins, as huge already!

Happy Monday all, hope the sunshine is with you all - lovely day here in Nottingham.

KiwiKat · 16/08/2010 14:35

Vix7, whereabouts are you in East London?

And can anyone advise what you're allowed to take for sinus pain when you're pregnant? At first I thought it was toothache, but I'm relieved to realise (mainly because of the cost of those greedy dentists) that this is a sinus thing, which I get about once a year. Still painful though, so advice re this very welcome.

bunnygirl80 · 17/08/2010 07:56

boris congrats on setting a wedding date

welcome lilrahi

kiwi I'm also in the (nearly) jobless club after my boss told me he wasn't going to renew my contract as women can't be trusted not to get hormonal and not come back to work after having a baby Hmm Nice to see a man that believes in gender equality Grin I think he knows that his comments are not strictly legal as after telling me that he also agreed to double my pay up until I leave.

addicted sorry to hear about your scare

I had my gtt today. It was not fun as the guy taking my blood took 3 attempts to find a vein - my veins aren't the best, but noones ever had this much trouble before. My poor arms are both black and blue now.

Pidgin · 17/08/2010 10:35

Hi again kiwi - I don't know about sinus drugs, I would check with a pharmacist I guess - hope it clears up soon.

Sorry to hear about your poor arms bunny, sounds painful. It's horrid when they can't get a vein.

I'm feeling a bit knackered and low today - I slept badly and kept worrying about really minor practical things to do with the baby. Small things like sorting out DIY and stuff seem like monumental tasks at the moment! Need a holiday...

KiwiKat · 17/08/2010 14:11

Ow, Bunny, poor you! And your boss sounds like a right noddy. Good that you're getting a bit of extra cash before you leave, though.

And glad you're enjoying your temp work, Comtessa. Lovely when that stress lifts, isn't it?!

Yes, you're right Pidin, best I get myself off to a pharmacist for proper advice. Hope you're feeling a little cheerier soon.

Loooopy · 17/08/2010 15:58

Congratulations boris on setting a date.

is anyone else finding it increasingly hard to drive? as in finding it hard to fit behind the wheel of their car? i am short and i can't move the seat back else i won't be able to reach the pedals....but can only just squeeze into the car, wheel starting to dig in, and still got another 12 1/2 weeks to go!

Also, has anyone else started their antenatal classes? we booked the NCT ones, first session is tonight, feeling daunted and like billy no mates, as DP can't come tonight as he is working overseas, thankfully it's the only one he can't make, but as it's the first, i'm feeling bit down about it and worried about walking in there on my own, especially as i'm not sure where it is i need to go!

Oh and re diabetes, at my 24 week midwife appointment, i got the impression being tested for diabetes is normal at 28 weeks - so got that to look forward to either this week or next...not sure if it will be done tomorrow when the nurse takes bloods, or next week at the midwife appointment! Still don't like this midwife, she acts like i should know everything even though i've never had a baby before, and the first midwife i saw was lovely and wanted to know where we wanted the baby before we had even talked about it, not seen her since, but this one doesn't seem at all interested that we now know we want a home birth, and the last time i tried to talk to her about it, she waffled about no one having the right to have one, and they can only offer one if got enough staff....almost left there in tears!

addictedisgettingexcited · 17/08/2010 15:58

is anyone else finding they have no energy? I just sorted out the washing, put a load on and now feel ready to colapse. I have so much i need to do but no energy to do it.

Pidin i'm sorry your feeling low today, take it easy eat some chocolate and hopefully you'll feel better soon

KiwiKat · 17/08/2010 17:12

Any chance you could get hold of the first midwife you had, Loopy, and ask her to stick with you through the pregnancy? You shouldn't have to put up with someone so insensitive. Making you feel confident and happy is part of the midwife's job, so she's not doing it at all well. Fire her!

addictedisgettingexcited · 17/08/2010 17:30

oh sorry loooopy i completly missed your post!

can you change mw's? she sounds horrible.

FourEyesGood · 17/08/2010 19:39

addicted - You're not alone with the lack of energy; I'm tired almost all the time now, even after the simplest of tasks. I tend to have to have a nap in the middle of the day, when my DS has his, but I won't be able to do that when I'm back at school in three weeks!

Rinnyx · 17/08/2010 20:13

Hello ladies dont think I have been on here for afew days again, time seems to be zooming by tho I know the last month will drag like last time Hmm
How is everyone doing? all fab I hope! :)

I had my 28 week app with the MW today, my first since 16 weeks, and thankfully got my HIP form so I can now pay off my pram Grin
Baby is fine, everything is spot on and shock horror she was fine with me going to Spain next month when I'll be 33 weeks tho I have to get a fit to fly letter from a doctor and may cost £20 Hmm

Going to make a start on my hospital bag in afew weeks I think tho not pack til I get back from Spain as I'll be using the same bag

hmmSleep · 17/08/2010 20:36

Have also been feelimg exhausted addicted, pidgin and FourEyes, got my blood results back yesterday and am anemic, which could explain it, hoping the iron tablets kick in and I start feeling better. If you're not due any bloods soon might be worth asking for a test early? I should have guessed as have same symptoms as previous pregnancies and it's very common, tirednesss, irritability, craving the smell of leather dizzyness.

Sounds like you've had quite a rough time addicted! Good they found out about the strep b though.

Those of you being tested for diabetes, are you in the UK? Don't seem to get tested for that here in North Yorkshire.

Sorry to hear about all the redundancies, I know it's happening to lots of people in the current climate, but still seems a bit dodgy that so many pregnant women seem to be losing their jobs Hmm.

bunnygirl80 · 17/08/2010 23:45

looopy that mw sounds horrible. If I were you I'd definitely ask to change

addicted ever since I hit 25 weeks I've had no energy. I feel exactly like I did in the first trimester where even the smallest task leaves me in need of a lie down.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm anaemic - had a full blood count done yesterday, so I'm sure I'll find out soon if I am.

rinny starting your hospital bag Shock I haven't even thought about that. Wasn't going to do it until October at least. Luckily, the hospitals here provide everything for the baby and all toiletries etc for me, so even if I go into labour completely unprepared I should survive until DH could pick some clithes up for me

hmmsleep I'm in Oz, and they test for diabetes here as a standard ante-natal test. They don't ever ask for urine samples at my appointments though, so there's no other way of knowing what my glucose levels are doing

addictedisgettingexcited · 18/08/2010 06:06

i've been checked for anemia so i know its not that, i'm just exausted!

rinny i've also started my hospital bag, its got bits in for me and the baby but not much that will be any use!

and loooopy i'm also struggling to drive, but not because i cant reach the stearing wheel, but because i'm falling asleep Shock i can get in to a car completly awake and 5 minutes down the road my eyes will be closing. i've agreed not to drive untill the baby comes and feel like my independance has been taken away from me Sad everything is too far to walk to, so i'm completly dependant on dh.

nomoremagnolia · 18/08/2010 09:37

I'm in the UK and my diabetes check was as a result of urine tests showing glucose in my urine. The 'trigger' was 2 consecutive or 3 non-consecutive glucose positive urine tests (the standard urine sample taken to every mw appt)
I have another assessment this afternoon to see if the dietary changes I have made are enough to control the diabetes. I fear they are not, my blood sugar readings after each meal are still too high :(
Big sympathy to those being tested for diabetes - it's no fun at all :(
