Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

I phoned doctor 3 days in a row this week trying and failing to make an appointment. Eventually had to get someone else to take my class - I'm a teacher - and phone at 8.30 only to be told - "sorry she's going on leave". When I exploded on the phone and told her why I wanted the appointment she said "Oh we just send you straight to the midwife, don't bother seeing the doctor at all."
So I now have a midwife appointment in 3 weeks. I was a bit thrown when I was asked on the phone "So where do you think you're going to have it?". I haven't given any thought at all to the 'having' of it. I've just been congratulating myself on still being pregant each morning!

Adair · 29/05/2010 19:28

Oh wygirl, glad to hear you're feeling so rotten . You know what I mean... Dh is desperate to go to Center Parcs- have fun and hope you manage to relax.

I am exHAUSTED today. And doing lots and lots of marking (am a teacher too, littleyellowchicken, what do you teach?) which is great paywise, but oh my gosh, I can't be bothered !!

Oh, and I haven't had a cup of tea all day since the slightly-off milk this morning threw me right off . Dh gone off to get some fresh milk now.

Re the 'having it' - I know, it seems far too early for that, right? I have my dr appt on Weds, and assume I will talk about where to have antenatal care etc. WE've just moved here so no idea what's about. But still only 3.5 miles from old hospital (which I love) so gonna push for pushing there .

BubbaAndBump · 30/05/2010 07:23

Glad things are looking up WYG - enjoy centerparcs, it'll be good to be distracted with all that. Not sure about hot water bottles, I'd imagine they're safe but try babycentre website as their advice is good = I've been in bed for the past two days with a severe headache and temperature - thank God it's half term next week (also a teacher!), so I can relax a bit and DH can help out with the ankle biters...

My mum is keen for me to go to a different hospital than last time because of a few complications I had at the end which she doesn't think they handled very well - but I've already decided to go back - I think it'd be comforting to be in the place where my first two came into the world safely. I may have suffered a bit, but they were both fine which is ultimately the important bit.

God, feel like crap - thank heavens for DH, laptops so I can watch American trash online. Good thing is the nausea seems to have taken a back seat while feeling crap with the headache and temp! Hope it's good anyway!

WYG - like Adair, glad to hear you're feeling pants Centre Parcs is great, have a fab time. I would avoid heat bags until you've asked someone in the professional know, having said that they were fine in later pregnancy I seem to remember!

So many teachers! I was one on my former life but quit after my second, it was being even less than totally unarsed about it that made me think my time had come Currently doing my second degree but number 3 will put a spanner in the works for a while with that one!

Happy rest of your weekends ladies

RunningKatie · 30/05/2010 18:48

Hope you're all having a good bank holiday.

We went to tell my Mum today, OH is working away this week and next so thought someone ought to know. She's really pleased which was lovely.

Saw the GP on Fri, who booked me in to see the midwife on June 23rd. I think that makes me 8.5 weeks at that point. Apparently it's an hour long appointment so need to think of a reason to be quite late into work.

Am slowly finding coffee doesn't smell right nor taste great.

Have a good time at Centre Parcs WYG.

WestYorkshireGirl · 31/05/2010 11:01

Quick update before I head off. Spoke to my independent mf last night and she thought I should go to A&E about the pains. So we went at 7am this morning. Was seen by a pubescent boy who seemed most disinterested in the pains - the pg test was positive, he had a poke about and told me take paracetamol and come back if worse, but he did arrange a scan! They wouldn't do it today, and were very particular about it being after 7 weeks, but have one for Fri which I am pleased about, but I did have to be a bit assertive! So we are heading off soon and I know I have a scan on Fri which might give me an idea if things are going ok or not so a bit of good news, but no symptoms again. Think it's ironic that I am longing to feel sick!

mrsfrisby · 31/05/2010 13:17

Hi all! Well I am a complete newbie, both to pregnancy and mumsnet. And forums really, tbh!I am due end of January although I don't have an EDD yet. I had the implanon removed, and actually believed the nurse who told me that it would take a few months... Having got over the shock, I am now swinging between excited and terrified!! Not helped by nausea and tiredness... It would be nice to hear any other experiences from y'all so I feel less isolated out here in sunny Scarborough

FloraPost · 31/05/2010 13:24

Good news about getting the scan booked WYG, fingers crossed it will put your mind at rest. Hope you enjoy Center Parcs in the meantime.

LadyBuzz · 31/05/2010 13:40

Great news WYG enjoy Center Parcs.

Mrsfrisby welcome and congratulations, you will get loads of support on here, there are first timers and also ladies with DCs already.

Shanster · 31/05/2010 16:24

Hey Ladies, isn't it lovely to have a long weekend! WYG, good news on your scan, you should be able to enjoy your holiday a little now. Welcome mrsfrisby, congrats on your first pregnancy! Enjoy it! This is my second and I'm struggling a tiny bit with juggling a sick toddler and work etc and the standard tiredness/morning sickness. I managed to persuade DH to get up w/DD two days in a row (she is up at 5.45am every day), and I feel so much better for it. I really think nausea can be aggravated by not getting enough rest. We have a busy week here, I have a scan on Wednesday (I'm in US so 6 wk scan is standard) and my DD is having an operation to have grommets in her ears on Thursday after months of dreadful, constant ear infections. Hopefully both will go well and we'll be able to relax for a couple of weeks (hoping DD will sleep better after the op)!

saffronbun · 31/05/2010 18:17

Hello mrsfrisby - I also got pregnant rather sooner than expected (i.e. on honeymoon) so I know that shocked feeling!

Excellent news WYG and hope the scan goes well on Fri.

Is anyone else finding that some days they have lots of symptoms and some days it's like you imagined the whole thing? I'm still waiting for the epic vomiting to start and so far, nowt.

knackered76 · 31/05/2010 19:40

Welcome MrsFrisby and congratulations Expect to keep swinging for the next few months. My DH seemed fine about our first until the day he put the cot up and then went white , a fact I remind him of on a semi regular basis!

WYG - hooray for being pushy and getting your scan. Enjoy your week and fingers crossed for friday.

Shanster - hope your scan goes well on Weds, so funny how different countries do things! Fingers crossed for DD operation as well. My neighbours daughter had the same thing and is so much happier now!

Saffronbun - I don't really have any symptoms except being tired a lot, but then I think I was anyway! I suppose by boobs might be getting a bit sore but then that could just be the fact my DS likes to headbutt me there! Hoping to avoid MS, I managed to the past 2 times so fingers crossed.

Anyhow, off to revise now as I have an exam in a couple of weeks and don't know nearly enough

mimster · 31/05/2010 20:01

Hi ladies! Well another weekend has bitten the dust - anyone else finding themselves counting down constantly in a paranoid focus on getting more days / weeks under the belt?! I hate that because ironically it makes time go even more slowly. THe first 3 months are the hardest IMO. Anyway, good luck to everyone with scans and sickness. I am just feeling a bit tired & sore boobed but no MS yet (long may it continue!)Just had a sip of my DH wine - I MISS that already!! But can console self with a series of 24 tonight, which I taped last night :-) Have a good evening all ..

Fuzzywood · 31/05/2010 21:25

Hi, hope all had a good long weekend. I'm already in bed having had a busy day and am back to drinking ginger beer. Was the only thing that got rid of the indegestion and nausea when I was pg with DD, seems to be working this time too thank goodness as I was feeling awful yesterday. Not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Welcome knackered aly and MrsF . Good mix of first timers and old hands on here, and also a few who've had MCs in the past, so hopefully a good mix of people to bounce off all the highs and lows with.

I know exactly what you mean mimster - cannot believe I've only gone 2 weeks since opening this thread, feels like forever and a day Another 6 weeks until it's safe to say it out loud (although as you know, I've blabbed to all and sundry in RL).

saffronbun I'm exactly the same this pg so far - had no symptoms at all past two-three days and all back with the nausea today. Still sure I'm making it all up! Roll on that 1st scan!!

Night ladies, sleep well x

mrsfrisby · 31/05/2010 22:36

Thanks all, am feeling better mentally if worse physically! Do seem to be having some almighty mood swings going on at the moment, although think the prospect of moving house isn't helping. Also the fact that my DH has a child from his previous relationship, he is 9 and a good kid, but he doesn't know yet and it's very hard to keep up the good cheer when he is around. But that is another story, and I may just be trying to find things to feel annoyed about at the mo . Off to bed now, as exhaustion set in, night all x

moulesfrites · 01/06/2010 08:04

Hello everyone!! welcome to new people joining the thread and WYG I hope you had a relaxing time at centre parcs.

I totally agree about the counting days - I thought time went slowly during the tww, but this is even slower!! Particularly this week as I am a teacher too and am on half term so don't have work to distract me. Funny that there are so many teachers on the thread! I was always told that having a EDD in September was the best way for a teacher to do it in terms of ML, but I guess it doesn't always work out like that!

In terms of my symptoms, still have tender boobs, funny taste and tiredness, but no ms. I wish I had something more substantial to reassure me that I'm not jst imagining it. I went to docs on Friday and apparently the midwife will come to my home for the Booking Appt between 8-10 weeks. is this normal?

Also - I need some reassurance - Accidentally ate a peanut M&M yesterday and now obsessing over it. When I asked the docs about peanuts she was very non-commital - she said not to eat them if I myself was allergic to them think I could have worked that one out!!

Hope everyone is well and had a nice bank holiday!

BubbaAndBump · 01/06/2010 08:58

lol @ moules thinking teachers all plan to have our babies in Sept!!

Don't fret about the peanut M&M (but do chuck us one when you're next on ) - the advice has changed anyway since I had my 1st DD all of 3 years ago when pregnant women were supposed to not even look at a peanut incase all future people you gave birth to/met/thought about became allergic. When I was then pregnant with my 2nd DD (just 17 and a half months later) they said only avoid them if you're allergic (duhhhhhh) or if you or your partner have asthma problems...

Yellow one please moules

OP posts:
saffronbun · 01/06/2010 10:14

I've eaten about 3,000 peanuts since conception due to being in a hotel for a week where they came free with every drink! Oh and satay sauce, loads of satay sauce. M&Ms, yum, pass them over

mrsfrisby · 01/06/2010 10:26

What!! I didn't even know to add peanuts to the long list of deprivations. I also am a teacher, and was told that January was the best EDD as works well for ML (go back a week in July etc). Or is that not how it works? I know what you mean moules, it does seem to be crawling by, and I have too much time on my hands at the moment (rarely a good thing for me). Poor DH!

moulesfrites · 01/06/2010 11:00

That's reassuring about the M&M. I am totally craving eggs benedict - gooey soft poached eggs with lots of hollandaise sauce - mmm - suppose I have a while to wait before that!

The advice about peanuts is very confusing mrsfrsiby and as bubba said it seems to change a lot - just looked on dept of health website again and as I understand it, they are ok, as long as you or dh don't have nut allergy?

Yes, I suppose Jan is a good time for a teacher - am planning on finishing at xmas and going back either for last week July or just in sept. My mate at work had her dd in early feb and is coming back last week in July but I'm not sure I could be bothered with that tbh. About 3/4 people at work are due in Sept though - think that is also a good time, but it happens when it happens I suppose!

BubbaAndBump · 01/06/2010 11:28

Oy moules I'm staaaaaaaaarvin'. Where's me yella M&M???

OP posts:
saffronbun · 01/06/2010 12:21

Damnit all, I've had soft poached eggs too

I'm really not doing well here.

Fuzzywood · 01/06/2010 13:23

Oh I hate that I can't eat a runny poached/ fried/ boiled egg! It's on my list of things for the post birth meal About the peanut thing, neither me or DH are allergic but DD has asthma type symptoms when she gets a cold (they don't call it asthma until they're 2 apparently and she does seem to growing out of it) so should I avoid peanuts? Will ask the mw if they ever ring me back but thought I'd see if anyone knows.

LadyBuzz · 01/06/2010 18:58

I wouldn't worry to much saffronbum if they are nmarked supermarket ones the hens are tested for salmonella so the risks are small - also you would prob know by now

Well I finally got intouch with a community midwife today (not mine) and my lady was going to phone me back - so far nothing

moulesfrites I totally agree time is draggin, I feel like i've been pregnant at least 4 months already

and bubbabump I can't believe how much things have changed over the course of my pgs - mad!

It doesn't drag this much for the whole 9 months I promise.

My SIL told me today she knew what I was having so far she has predicted her own 2, my 2 and my nieces 2 correctly - she says I am having 2 girls I bloody hope not. DS1 also informed my friend that I had 2 girl babies in my tummy (he doesn't know) OMG I hope on this occasion they are wrong
