Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

Hope you had a good flight cupcakes

Fuzzy - I've got the MW tomorrow, not yet been offered the jab but think I'll be having it.

Also going to ask her about shingles as my Mum has it, had been going to see her this weekend but now thinking I'll not. I've had chickenpox so all should be fine but I'm spending most of my time worrying about things and figured this wasn't another one to add to the list!

Went shopping for maternity tights on Sunday, was horrified to discover H&M want £13 for one pair, and our M&S doesn't stock them. Thank heavens for ebay, should get some delivered very soon. I've also ordered myself a pregnancy relaxation CD before I drive myself and DP to distraction. I've started waking up at 4.30am for no reason and can't get back to sleep again till 6.30, have to be up at 7 so not ideal. :(

CupcakesHay · 12/10/2010 18:40

running not sure if you've seen midwife, but i called mine about shingles recently as was going to wedding - but was told as long as I had chickenpoz, it's OK - so no excuse not to visit your mum and give her some TLC!

And i've been having probs sleeping for last few days - but not sure if it's just getting back here and thinking about things...

Flight was lovely though - although had to get up 4 times for a wee!!!! Baby must have been sitting in a bad position.

Can't believe i'm only back here til the 20th Nov - and then back to UK again. I think Dh is secretly upset although he says he'll be fine - I think even he might miss me a bit, regardless of all his bravado!!!

BubbaAndBump · 12/10/2010 20:59

On the chicken pox front, when I was pg with DD1 she got chicken pox and my GP advised getting a blood test to check that my immunity (from when I'd had it as a child) was still good. It was, but it wasn't a definite yes for my GP before the blood test...

Oooh, maternity tights, really struggling to either pull my non-mat. tights up over the bump (mmmmh, sexy Confused) or down under the bump (digs in and accentuates the extra muffin top hips/tum bin)

Sorry you're waking early running but you're not alone - next time we should mumsnet it. Ironically last really bad awake time (was woken by DD2 then bump got overexcited by being awake and had a party Hmm) ~ I gave up stressing about not sleeping and went downstairs to watch telly - and ended up watching a supernanny-style documentary on the sheer knackeredness of parents who had disturbed sleep nights because of little ones! Hmm :o

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/10/2010 22:54

I love Supernanny!!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, i've been logging in and checking the thread but so busy planning/marking every night I haven't had time to write anything... plus there is not a whole lot going on in my life to report.
However, my latest thing is what I think is called acid indigestion? I've never had this before so not sure if it is what i've got but I keep feeling like there is acid/in my throat. Is that what I have? More importantly, does this mean my baby will have hair? If so, I can put up with it. I love babies born with hair, so so cute! Already mums please reply.

Baby is kicking around like mad these days but mainly at night. Feel like a fraud at work as friends keep saying 'tell me when it kicks so I can feel it' and it never does :(

Anyway I have an inset day tomorrow which is why i'm blabbing on and being a bore. Hope everyone is well and I feel strange that your out of the country now cupcakes. Does this mean you won't be on as much :(

BubbaAndBump · 13/10/2010 05:10

Proof for you here runninkatie (yawwwwwwwwn) :(

Hey saltnvinigar (wave) - long time no squeak! No idea about hairy babies/acid link!

ER's on telly, so I'm happy. Also planning my DD2's 2nd birthday party this weekend - madness with 9 two year olds and three DD1's age! :o :o

OP posts:
Ryuk · 13/10/2010 09:34

saltnvinigarcrips that keeps happening to poor DP. There'll be movement or even a series of movements, but as soon as I put DP's hand on the bump everything stops. Then sometimes starts again as soon as the hand is gone. DS seems to have inherited the awkward gene. Hmm Grin

RunningKatie · 13/10/2010 13:30

Had a student midwife as well as the usual one today, she was a bit rubbish at first telling me I was 29 weeks pregnant!
Baby wouldn't behave when she put the probe on my tum either, moved away from it so she couldn't get heart beat but otherwise all's fine and she complimented me on my neat little bump! Bump is measuring 25.5cms so bang on for dates which is good as far as I can see.

Got my spa day at long last on Monday, really looking forward to a nice massage and facial. :)

Hello saltnvinigar - sounds like indigestion to me, Gaviscon is your friend.

Bubba I was going for the tights under the bump too but it's really not comfy by the end of the day. Mind you, maternity tights aren't the most attractive of things....

I'm ready for an afternoon nap.

BubbaAndBump · 13/10/2010 19:15

ryuk that's quite normal - make sure that if you or he were talking while bump started wiggling that you don't go quiet when he's trying to feel it, as often they're responding to sounds too, but we tend to go quiet when concentrating on 'feeling' Hmm :o

Can we join you at your spa day running? :)

OP posts:
Fuzzywood · 13/10/2010 23:26

I'm very jealous of your spa day Running sounds lovely.
Don't know if baby having hair is linked to indigestion but DD had lots of hair when she was born and I had lots of indigestion so completely unscientific poll of one says yes :)
I had maternity tights on today and they were much more comfy than normal tights but they kept falling halfway down my bump which was very annoying.
Having real trouble picking DD up at the moment, makes my stomach muscles hurt. I had problems with my stomach muscles because of DDs birth so hoping it's nothing to do with that. Have appointment with midwife next Tues so will check it out then.
Night all.

FloraPost · 14/10/2010 07:12

If there is a link between indigestion and hairy babies, then I'm having a wolf. Still loving peppermint gaviscon.

We got another impromptu look at tiny Flora yesterday with the consultant. His face has filled out a lot and he looks like a proper baby now rather than Munch's The Scream. Lovely Smile.

Good tip about sounds Bubba, I will try that next time.

I told the consultant I want a c section (no medical need, just want one) and he said straight off he will try to find a reason and do it! YES!! I was convinced he would try to persuade me towards natural birth and I would have accepted it if he had, tbh. Such a relief though. Every little (and I do mean little) thing is stressing me out at the moment and the feeling that I might have some control over one element of this whole thing has cheered me right up. There is a very interesting thread in Childbirth at the moment about experiences of c sections.

LadyBuzz · 14/10/2010 08:27

DS1 was really hairy and I had horrible indigestion, DS2 not so bad and not so hairy.
Babybuzz will also be a wolf it has been 10 x worse this time!

running enjoy your spa day Envy

bubba hope DD2 has a lovely birthday, DS2 will be 2 in three weeks Grin

I'm getting to the stage where I struggle to bend down but I am no where near as big or heavy as I was with the boys.

flora I hope you get the birth you want just be prepared for people to question your reasons and try and tell you what they they think (not on here obv) Wink

FloraPost · 14/10/2010 10:53

I know LadyB, MIL has already started raising her eyebrows when I mention it. I couldn't give a rat's ass about anyone else's opinion though and will be quite happy to say as much Grin. I haven't decided 100% on a c section and I will listen to what the GP and MW have to say. Thing is, I only know 2 people (in quite a large sample of friends & family) who had relatively straightforward 1st births. It seems to me that a planned c section, while obviously still a big deal, would be much less dramatic than some of the absolute horrors that people I know have experienced with natural birth.

CupcakesHay · 14/10/2010 12:46

Funnily enough, was working out with a friend recently, and out of something like 12 births we knew - only 2 delivered naturally- rest all ended up having C sections. I'm too scared to consider C-section - plus think it would be a nightmare on the whole trying to get the OK to fly thingy - so i'm praying I don;t have to go down that route - but aiming for as many drugs as possible!

Hardly getting any indigestion, so Baby will be bald forver at this rate!

Spoke to a friend at the mebassy here last night who is 18 wks pregnant, and felt actually quite fab to know I'm not the only one in the same boat as me over here - and know that next summer i won't be only person with a tiny baby over here! (well - obviously other people, but no one else i know!) :)

Last question to clever ones of you - do you think car seats will be in January sales? And monitors...? Trying to decide whether to be brave and wait, or bite bullet and get now..

RunningKatie · 14/10/2010 14:29

Cupcakes - if you're buying over here remember VAT goes up on Jan 4th so get all your shopping done before then. No idea if it applies to all baby gear but I'm using it as an incentive so DP comes shopping with me :) We need a monitor I think but no idea what kind to get.

I had to sit down to put my tights on this morning, standing on one leg waving the other around is becoming increasingly challenging. Blush

ryuk - we found that bump liked it when DP had his hand on the bump and rested his head on it whilst talking. Bump kicks a lot more whilst he's around, he claims it's because Dad is more fun.....

LadyBuzz · 14/10/2010 19:33

flora I had an awful first birth, induction with pessary and then drip labour after 30ish hours, labour for 10 hours followed by EMCS and me almost not making it.
Infection after CS when I came out of hospital BUT 2 people who had 'natural' births at around the same time took longer to recover and had a worse time! DS2 was an ELCS and was fab, up and about and driving in 3 weeks. You have to do what you feel is right. My first MW said to me "take everything you can no one gets a prize for being a hero!" I thought that was great!

I forgot VAT was going up I need to get shopping!

I have a Tomy walkabout monitor, cheap as chips and very basic but it does its job.
Although we did used to be able to hear our neighbours baby as well as ours Hmm

Spookberries · 15/10/2010 07:21

Guess it's time for me to join the thread (just before it his 1k messages!!)

I'm 23, DP is 25 and she is carrying our lovely DS1 who is due January 22! We live in London and both work in childcare.

Very excited although have been woken 2-3 times every night last week and a half to move for the pregnant lady who needs a wee Grin. Thanks for letting me join!

(Oh my screen name is usually Starberries, this is for Halloween!)

...or 62.5% of the way there HmmGrin. My Mum doesn't approve of the c section idea. Not sure why; she had forceps and everything, and they thought I was dead when I came out. LabyB, you are braver than me - that's exactly what I'm terrified of!

I haven't bought anything either but I want it all sorted before Christmas. Next weekend is the grand emptying of John Lewis.

Hope your week has got better Bubba. Good luck for the party!

We have friends staying this weekend with their toddler which will be fun. DP is great with tinies.

BubbaAndBump · 15/10/2010 20:42

welcome spook (wave) (wave)

Thanks for good wishes with the party, just about to do a 'pass the parcel' parcel :) and have been tidying (WHY??!!) in preparation for the trashing that's about to happen! Her birthday was loads of fun though and she was just gorgeous.

jjkm I'd not bought anything yet by this time with my first either. Plenty of time, and some don't like to jinx it.

re: births, I had a natural birth with DD1 - just gas and air and a bath, waters broke at 3 am and after 2.5 hrs Shock of pushing and the threat of a c-section, out she popped, just 19 hours later Hmm

DD2 I went into labour naturally, but had been stuck in hospital for a week with an ELC planned (not my choice by any stretch of the imagination) for the next day, so they did that for me.

Desperately hoping for natural birth again, but if babybubba continues to look like (s)he'll be huge too, they are threatening an ELC again :(

Hi Starberries! you sound very excited! Do you know what you're having?

I think my nesting has kicked in - i've been sorting old clothes nad moving things around the house and even (SHOCK HORROR) polished some surfaces earlier!

jjkm remember i'm far too organised not to have done any shopping, and you'll be able to do it all in one go.

I had completely forgotten about the VAT going up. hmm.... maye need to rethink plans.

Looking at paternity leave and leave plans with DH yesterday - and have decided he'll fly over on 20th, and come down to Devon on the 21st - unless I go into labout early and then he'll have to do mad dash and get earlier flight and just have hand luggage. :)

bubba did you put sweets in between the layers of pass the parcel?

LadyBuzz · 16/10/2010 18:14

cupcakes i think i might be nesting too, I shifted a chest of drawers yesterday and finally made a pathway through the junk spare room.
I may have overdone it though and ended up in hospital last night in awful awful pain Sad

Baby was totally fine (phew) and I have had tests and might have a virus of some sort - It amazes me how different symptoms can be in pg. So plenty of rest and feet up for me today, MWs were lovely though and put my mind at ease!

I must get my mat leave applied for this week, i think i might be a week late already Blush

Welcome spookyberries congratulations!

Fuzzywood · 16/10/2010 22:43

That doesn't sound good Ladybuzz, glad to hear all is ok.
How was the party Bubba?
Had a friend around yesterday who brought some of her maternity clothes for me to borrow. She said about the dress she brought that it only fitted her very near the end of her pregnancy as it was so big, I've just tried it on and it fits fine. Gulp! DD was big enough but looking like this one might be bigger. Will check it out with the mw on Tues.
Right, really need to go to bed now. Keep well all.
