Signing in to the new thread. I went back to the hospital yesterday for my blood pressure series and it seems to have gone down, thankfully. I still have to take the tablets and go back next Tuesday. Last day at work today - but so much to get through before then. Best of luck for those of you already in labour - I'm very excited about hearing the news.

leahbump · 29/07/2005 10:32

Emotional pregnant woman alert. I know there is going to be a leaving presentation for me at work later on this afternoon and am petrified of making a complete idiot of myself by bursting into tears. Tears are coming to my eyes just thinking about it. Is there anything I can do to stop the waterworks? Any useful tips appreciated.

josey · 29/07/2005 14:55

is there someone in the office that you dont like? if so look at them and picture getting revenge on them big time and hopefully that will keep you smiling and not crying, if not i dont know think of sore labour pains (not much help really) think of you

Azure · 30/07/2005 10:46

Hehe thanks for the tips Josey. I managed to get through it with only a slight moistness to my eyes. I asked my boss to keep it low-key, which thankfully he did. Back in the office at the moment to tidy up and then that should be that.

josey · 30/07/2005 12:15

Waiting for midwife to phone me back
i have been having regular contractions (not very painful) period pains and burning feeling going up my back since tea time yesterday, however i had what you could call strong tightening a wee while ago and i lost some water so want to get things double checked.

Auzure glad it went well for you yesterday but what a girl you are back in again, anyone would think you didnt want to go on maternity leave

Hi everyone-sounds as if really hotting up! - sorry, I changed my name as fabwife seems inappropriate at the mo!
Had a very heavy week and had to bed rest, had booking in at hospital for the c section yesterday. Bit scary as will be my 3rd caesar - possible complications are bit hairy. Those ladies debating over c sections should know that best avoided wherever pos but, having had to have extensive repair (vaginal due to forceps, ventouse and episiotomy from hell) when ds 4months old, ifyou are really worried about babies lie (ie posterior/breech), you may be better off with planned c section than with forceps/ventouse delivery. If you want it - push for it and don't take no for answer (sorry about pun!).

Am very excited for everyone who is on cusp of or in labour - would be thrilled to be able to have this baby conventionally and hope you all have good experiences.
My dh has got to the point where he quietly rolls his eyes then fetches cup of tea as I gasp and moan over bh and convince myself am about to go into labour.....I'm just under 39 weeks so it would be possible - am supposed to hang on until weds for section.
Still have'nt really got hospital bag sorted - is this freudian avoidance?

colinsmommy · 30/07/2005 17:12

I'll take it since we haven't heard of the laboring ladies they're all busy having babies.

Josey--I guess at least your MIL won't have to be there for your labor.

Fabwife/allgrownup--Get your bag packed now!!!! So sorry you're stuck in bed.

Feeling very about all you having babies and realizing I still have another month to go.

Miaou · 30/07/2005 18:18

not me, I'm still here! Still having contractions - big and painful but only once every few hours. Just had a bath and lost some more of my plug too.

All the best josey, hope everything's ok.

allgrownup · 30/07/2005 18:38

Hi Miaou - bath sounds like good idea - best of luck for when you go off to hospital.
Have you spoken to your midwife in last few hours at all?
Hi colinsmummy - you never know how long exactly you'll have to wait and you're right about the bag!
last months of pregnancy are horrible are'nt they....not good for those of us bad at waiting!
will go and pack it later.......found out hospital provide 'cotton bottoms' nappiesfor babies which I think is great but it cranks up guilt as I'm firmly wedded to the pampers!
will give them a go while in hospital.

kate100 · 30/07/2005 21:07

Hello ladies I'm happy to announce a brand new baby on our brand new thread

I started having contractions at about 5 on Thursday, so took DS to parents in time for bed and by 10, I knew that this was definitely it. Got to the hospital at about 3 in the morning and Benjamin Oliver John was born at 5:58, very quick and shocking for both of us. He wasn't breathing at first and I now know the true meaning of the expression the longest 5 minutes of my life as we waited to hear him cry. But he did and went from an Apgar of 3 to 10 in 5 minutes. He weighed an extremely healthy 9lb 12oz, an ounce bigger than his older brother. He is the most beautiful baby and he is now doing great. So am I, no stitches or anything, but the afterpains are a lot stronger this time round.

Good luck to all the other labouring ladies, see you on the post natal thread.

josey · 30/07/2005 21:08

hello just thought i would let you know that im back home, they cant tell for sure if waters leaked or not and i have no sign of infection baby had thumped its head down very far all of a sudden though which could have caused me to be wet, still having niggles and BH type contractions but nothing moving so we agreed that i could go back home much to my delight. I have just sent DH off for a chineese and ice cream im starving, colinsmommy i still have 4 weeks to go and likely to be around for sometime,im glad really that things arent on there way today give bump a bit more time to get the beef on.

Miaou · 30/07/2005 21:12

Kate, congratulations! Glad everything went ok - how scary for you re. the breathing though! Welcome to little Benjamin and I look forward to joining you soon on the postnatal thread!

spacecadet · 30/07/2005 21:20

congratulations kate

Nome · 30/07/2005 21:25

Exciting times these last few days - congratulations Kate and welcome to Benjamin. I am so jealous. Just under two weeks to go here, I can't imagine not being pregnant any more. Life always was this uncomfy, wasn't it! Roll on the birth.

KMS · 30/07/2005 23:01

Congratulations Kate And welcome Benjamin. Very good size and no stitches. Well done you!

I found afterpains were much worse 2nd and then worse still 3rd time. (hate to think what they will be like 4th time!)

Dare I ask how the SPD is doing??

Good luck Josey hope bump gets a little longer to cook.

Miaou-Hope things get moving soon for you.

Well got through today so far without any sign of baby! Shame the 3 friends I invited for DD's tea party couldn't make it as I had only decided on doing something at the last minute, but the boys did pass the parcel with her and made her feel very special, and we all went out for lunch. I am now paying for it as can hardly move Definatly bed rest tomorrow!!!

suzi2 · 31/07/2005 09:46

Josey - the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I could have sworn I didn't wet myself but it seems I must have!

My BHs have settled down but I seem to have a permenant tummy ache - trapped wind type feeling and awful period pain. I also keep getting diarroeah. Didn't sleep at all last night - all these pains/cramps kept waking me. Is all this normal at 39wks? Or should I get in touch with the midwife tomorrow.

Miaou · 31/07/2005 10:17

suzi - period-type cramps and diarrhoea are often a sign that things are likely to get going soon. You could ring your m/w for reassurance . I started contracting with dd1 in this way and she was born 5 days before her due date.

KMS, glad you had a good day yesterday.

And yes, I'm still here!

josey · 31/07/2005 10:59

congrats kate and wow what a size.

suzi2 i would check with midwife sounds like you could be going also.

I had the same thing with DS but i had pollops that had burst causing the water with him,and the contractons i had yesterday where the same as when i started off before then stopped for a week and had quick birth so they were worried im might have a layby birth if i wasnt checked. im just glad i got home and had a good sleep however MIL phoned and woke me this morning to find out if anything had happened in the middle of the night obviously not!!!!!! if she had listend to what she was told last night argh!! she is going to be a nightmare from now on HELP
