Hi all!
Kate, Congratulations on the arrival of Benjamin Oliver - great names!

Only really scanned down the threads so will reply more fully later. Got back from Keswick yesterday having had a nice time, if a little tiring - will probably take the next week to feel back on top of things. Bit of a drama whilst down there, after all the teasing about me going into labour, I wound up in hospital for 2 days with renal colic (kidney stones). Arrived on the Saturday and friend had to take me up to maternity early Sunday morning following a call to A&E - pain was immense and was very grateful once I got there, had been reassured that bubs was ok and they gave me pethidine - great stuff! Scan on the monday morning showed that kidneys were clear and as the pain had not returned they let me out just after tea time. Was very scarey, knew wasn't labour but was terrified that something had gone wrong with my little one. My friend was ace - doesn't like hospitals and is quite squeamish but coped very well with me vomiting and all the injections/drip that I had to have. Don't think I've ever managed to drink so much water - to flush stones through system - added to the IV, I could see my ankles swelling before my eyes! The hospital was West Cumberland in Whitehaven and the staff were amazing - it's a very small hospital and they're currently fighting to keep the mat section open - next nearest is Carlise - I was very grateful they were close to Keswick as the pain made the journey nearly unbearable and I can't imagine having to get to Carlise in that state.

Right going to nip on just now as want to get up to the Matty to visit someone - will catch up more once I'm back, lol x

Miaou · 31/07/2005 12:53

Wow Twiga, what an eventful week for you! Glad your friend was there to help you out, and that you're ok now.

I'm also under the care of a small maternity unit which, although not threatened with closure, is being scaled down as of tomorrow - yet the care there is fantastic, far better than the bigger places. Don't know where I would have been without it over the past week .

Twiga · 31/07/2005 16:56

Hi just back from the Matty and was in visiting Eulalia - didn't want to say until I'd checked in with her as didn't want to jump ahead with her news. She had a wee boy on Friday at 08.19 weighing 7lb 30z. He's called Paul and is just perfect - has a lovely head of dark hair. Eulalia looks really well - I'll let her fill in all the gory details but she ended up with a c-section due to placental abruption - is up and about no bother and feels fine.

Miaou, having skimmed through, your week hasn't exactly been quiet either - hope the ferry guys are still on stand-by!!!!

Azure · 31/07/2005 17:16

Many congratulations Kate on the safe arrival of Benjamin - what a whopper! Benjamin is one of our top names choices as well. Congratulations also Eulalia on the birth of Paul - I look forward to hearing your story, although placental abruption sounds quite scary. Twiga, what a horribe time you've had with kidney stones, you poor thing - as if labour's not enough. Miaou and Josey, still holding in there I see - best of luck.

I finally finishing tidying my office and have left work - hurrah. We're staying at my parents now and I'm using the computer while DS is playing happily with his grandparents in the garden. I've just bought a second-hand pram which, whilst not the most attractive thing, will do for the first few months. Takes up half the car, though. I haven't had any BH as far as I'm aware and didn't have them last time - maybe I'm just not very good at recognising them.

colinsmommy · 31/07/2005 18:25

Congratulations to mommies of Benjamin and Paul. What a big boy Kate!

Twiga--how awful. Hope the next time you go to the hospital is to have your baby.

blossom2 · 31/07/2005 18:41

MANY MANY CONGRATULATIONS to Kate & Eulalia and Welcome to the world Paul & Benjamin !!! How exciting. So 2 girls and 2 boys so far.

Charlotte is doing well and now a big girl of 8lbs in just 3 weeks - breastfeeding obviously agrees with her . And she is pooing for england and france. The breastfeeding is going well, even though its my first time. She's just perfect and has the tiniest features. Big sister also loves her to bits although doesn't understand the concept of 'gentle'. Only downside is not being able to get Tommee Tippee soothers here in paris and i've just run out of breastpads.

I hope everyone else is well and really looking forward to hearing about your babies. Was very when i read about your scotland meet-up. wish we could organise something where we get to see all our babies but given we're all over the world, it'll probably be a little difficult!!!

xxx

KMS · 31/07/2005 22:31

Cangratulations Eulalia! Thanks for letting us know Twiga. Look forward to the full story.

Twiga-What bad luck to have kidney stones! Glad they passed through quickly, but how scary for you at this stage of preg. Dh has just had some and was in agony for a week before they passed!

josey · 01/08/2005 11:27

congrats to Eulalia glad everything is ok hope to hear from you soon.

Twiga what a shame you must of had a fright glad that your ok now though.

DH started his new job today so he left for Aberdeen at 5.30 this morning,i hope i dont have to call him back as i dont fancy him driving back up the road, stressed.

Congratulations Kate and Eulalia! things are really hotting up now!
I got a bit confused with new threads and have been reading the postings for about an hour and a half!
Have settled into new house really well and have just got a land line and internet, so can rejoin the gang!!!

Miaow- have you had your baby flower? It can be very frustrating when these pains are so intense but don't amount to anything. I've had strong and semi-strong irregular pains for about a week now, but still not regular enough and no other signs. Starting to feel a fraud! Have put it all down to the stress!!

Thankyou to all who sent good wishes for our house move, it went well but it has been exhausting, however, I recommend it if pregnancy is dominating your thoughts as it keeps u very busy! Took your advice girls and got visitors to help unpack some of our stuff too!

Going in to hospital tomorrow to be induced, (due to medical history of clotting/haemorrhaging etc) and feeling terrified! Haven't slept well in ages so feel worried I am going to be exhausted before I even start. Also have so wanted to go to hosp at last possible minute, and now i'm going to be in for the whole duration. All family very excited though!
Come on baby- you've got less than 24 hrs to do things on your own! Good luck to everyone! Anyone else got a planned induction?

wilbur · 01/08/2005 13:19

Ah - new thread - brilliant! And it's August too, hurray. Huge congrats to Kate and Eulalia (did I miss Eulalia's announcement?), so exciting.

Well, it's my due date today and once again, I am sat here waiting [wilbur twiddles her thumbs and whistles a bit]. Everything is set up and ready, just have to load the camera with some film [wilbur wanders into the bedroom to admire the moses basket again], plans are in place for what to do with the children when it all kicks off [wilbur gets a bit teary about the teeny tiny baby clothes all laid out next to the birth pool] and I've had the odd periody pain, but nothing exciting. Baby is fully engaged though, which neither of the other two ever bothered with, so that must be a good sign. So I'll just carry on sitting here, getting news of the rest of you as you pop your bundles out before I even get a sniff of labour. [wilbur waddles off to have some more banana cake] Good luck everyone!

josey · 01/08/2005 13:33

fatbirdtoo - good luck for tomorrow hope all goes well, will be thinking of you. and glad your move went well.

allgrownup · 01/08/2005 15:17

Hi fatbird -best of luck for tomorrow, only one more day and then lovely new baby..... hope it goes really well and you get home soon after the birth.
I keep getting contractions and have had very little sleep for last few nights - crampy pains, whole lot, but all false alarms.
Am due to be delivered by c section this weds.
Can't believe consultant right and me wrong as told him baby going to arrive 2 weeks ago....whatever happened to mother;s being right!
It's wonderful August is finally here- best of luck to all imminent mummies!

colinsmommy · 01/08/2005 15:59

Oh, Wilbur your post made me laugh so hard. Not at you, but at me, because that's what I'm doing, and I have the whole month to go.

Dazie · 01/08/2005 16:21

CONGRATULATIONS to Eulalia, Kate and Miaou great news!!

Fatbirdtoo - good luck for tomorrow!!

Well I went to the hospital today to check if the baby had turned I didnt think he had but to my surprise there he was on the scanner head down!! This is great as I had just got all the info on turning the baby and c sections and now I dont have to worry about making the choice. Only thing is now I have to wait to go into labour which is driving me mad !!!

Allgrownup goodluck for weds !!

Hurrah August is finally here!!!!!

kizzy212 · 01/08/2005 22:14

well feeling pretty shit, have gone through all this preganacy not wanting to get pre-clampiser again, but i have to say it! with two weeks left i wish they would start me.
i have just been sick after trying to eat a normal meal, and wet myself at the same time.
anyone else feeling like this.

kizzy212 · 01/08/2005 22:15

while moaning forgot to say!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the mums. i am extremly jealous.....

Eulalia · 02/08/2005 08:38

Hi everyone! Out of hospital yesterday lunchtime. Really glad to be home and all 5 of us to be together.

Thanks Twiga for posting the news. It didn't actually come to full blown placental abruption - that is partly why the CS was done to pre-empt that but will provide more details later. Paul is the most incredibly easy baby, he hardly cries and is breastfeeding really well. ds and dd seem to like him but dd mostly ignores him at the moment and ds keeps asking odd questions like who is the mummy and wanting to know why he came out "the wrong way".

I need to read down the thread to catch up on other births.

Back soon.

jantogan · 02/08/2005 17:08

Congratulations to Eulalia, Kate and Miaou, their names are very lovely...

KMS · 02/08/2005 21:45

Congrats to Miaou!

Good luck for tomorrow allgrownup and hope everything has gone well for you fatbird.

I am really worried that I will be sent to hospital, for bed rest, in the morning when the m/w comes, as have not been getting that much rest at home and the spd pain is getting unbearable now. co-codamol doesn't touch it!
So if you don't hear from me for a while it won't be that i have had the baby as I think it will be late like the others!! so that will give me another 2 wks at least.

Good luck to all and catch up soon.
(I might just be back tomorrow if I can convince m/w that I have to stay at home!!)

KMS · 03/08/2005 14:35

I'm still here!
M/w said that if I go in to hosp they will induce me and as I don't want that she has advised me to stay in bed!
Have just sneeked down to see if there is any news. Will go back to bed now. There is only so much daytime tv that you can take!! Mags have been flicked through, not sure what to do next!

Hope everyone else is doing ok and that these babies start popping out soon.

josey · 03/08/2005 15:57

just back from the clinic everything is as it should be and head is down ready for take off, just wish i would feel this lightening!!! i know they say that 2nd babies heads go in later than first, is that a sign?? how much later does anyone know?
well in 1 week i have gone from being told that im not geting a section to being told that i might be better off having a home birth as 1st labour was only 3half 4 hours i really dont like the sound of that incase they are wrong and i end up with another 3 degree tear my mind is swimming now!!
hope everyone is ok we are all very quiet
KMS glad you are still at home

Twiga · 03/08/2005 16:23

Hi Josey, all sounds very confusing. Glad you're keeping well though.

KMS glad you avoided a hospital admission, always nice to be in own bed even if a bit dull.

Anyone else feeling a bit fed up? Have definately grown bigger over the last week (fleece still zips up but is tight) and really starting to feel my size IYKWIM. Have no spacial awareness, keep banging my bump standing too close to things and trying to get through gaps which look big enough but aren't . Brain has gone to mush and have been exhausted the last few days. Have heaps to do and no motivation and feeling very grumpy! Wedding anniversary tomorrow but dh working until very late so delaying the celebrations til friday. Also having trouble with the company I ordered my changing bag from - see here TLF saga All in all just feeling hormonal and tearful today!
