Hi everyone, I havne't posted for ages but I read about how you're all getting on. It's so exciting to read about people actually having babies I'm due on Weds and am very ready, I've had a really good pregnancy but I've had enough now and just want the baby to come. At my ante-natal class on Saturday they said 80% of first babies are late which didn't make me feel any better

josey · 15/08/2005 10:43

all the best Dazie.

i feel horrid, i have hardly slept all weekend with either being up doing housework or having pains, i have been on the go since 4.30 this morning with probably BH every half hour, i also dont think my bump can go any lower or get any bigger August is turning out to be the longest month of my life,im starting to feel like im going mad i wouldnt mind but i still have about 2 weeks left till my due date

Josey & Em32 - this is probably a silly question, but how do you know they are bh and not contractions? I havne't had anything like that, which is what makes me think baby will be late, but I do worry that I'll get bh and drag my dh home from work thinking I'm in labour. Are bh painful?

josey · 15/08/2005 11:57

Im saying mine are BH cause i know they arent painful enough to be full blown contractions they could be the very early stages, I had the same with my first then everything stopped for about 2 weeks thats why trying not to get hopes up, you will probably just feel tight with BH's and they wont be regular and get closer together look out for them starting whn you feel the baby move. Is anyone getting a funny tingle kind of pain at the top of the uterus near ribs when getting BH's or baby move??? it a really weird feeling and i dont like it very much.
I have just been for a walk to the shops in the hope things might turn for me.
Whitie dont worry about turning up at the hospital nearly everyone does it, im worried about leaving it to late i didnt realise last time and had a very quick labour, i want to make the hospital, thats why im driving myself insane with every twinge

Ditto same as Josey. I've been having BH since about 23 weeks (this is no2 baby) and they haven't been uncomfortable up until now. Now that I'm almost 38 weeks they are a lot more uncomfortable/close on painful. It is nothing like full blown contractions though. Believe me, when those hit you you know about it. It may be the latent stage though, you're right, I think I may have been having slow dilation of the cervix for the past week or so. You never know though. I had a 7 1/2 hour labour start to finish last time, so the same as Josey a bit worried about how quickly this one might come out. By the way, not having BH is no indication of whether the baby is late or early, and also you might just not realise but be having them (your stomach goes rock hard for a minute or two is the only way I can descibe it)

MissChief · 15/08/2005 14:36

dear all
Masterchief2 finally born on Thurs night, at home as planned- both fine, he's a real sweetie. Managed (just in time!) to avoid my induction. waterbirth this time unbelievably better than ds1's all strapped up on hospital bed..
Hope you're all well and good luck to those due soon.

leahbump · 15/08/2005 15:14

congrats misschief!!

Glad your birth was a good experience. Hoping it will be the same here....(now 5 days overdue!).

dazie- good luck!

Hi everyone else...in agony today spd so bad I'm thinking about breaking into the gasses I have stored for my homebirth!!

colinsmommy · 15/08/2005 18:05

Congratulations MissChief!!

Hope all goes well for Dazie, too.

Still here Em32, I figure I'll be one of the last if not the last to go. My body doesn't go into labor until I reach 8 cm, I'm afraid and that takes weeks.

Just getting ready for DS's birthday party tomorrow. Keeping it really, really small and simple. Just a few kids and some juice and fruit and a cake.

I'm having BH all over the place, still. Starting to get annoyed. I have the same problem with my bump being so low, only a few of my pants will fit.

Twiga · 15/08/2005 18:31

Oooo dazie, how exciting - hope it all goes well!

Congratulations Mischief on your ds

Lots of BH here too, looking fwd to seeing mw on friday as interested to see how things are going and where baby is at. Picked up my TENS from Boots today so feel like I'm all set on that front. Situation with M&PS looking up, just waiting to see how things pan out tomorrow. Saw physio this afternoon and have been ordered to do as little as possible if not nothing for the remainder of my pg, should avoid crutches that way. Also been given some excercises to do to try and help pull things together a bit. Dh off most of this week so have got plenty of help.

colinsmommy · 15/08/2005 19:08

Glad to see you're still here too, Twiga. Hope the big mess with M+P's sorts itself out. How stupid are they?

Just had a friend drop by with a pile of clothes from her sister. They fit me much better than mine do at the moment, so I'll actually be able to wear more than one thing for the last few weeks, it looks like.

Azure · 15/08/2005 20:47

Congratulations Misschief on your arrival - I'm glad you got the birth you wanted. Dazie, I hope everything's going well. Twiga, I hope you've managed to get your stuff at last.

I had a horrible day yesterday. I think I picked up the 24-hour sickness bug that DS had last week, as I felt completely awful and was sick in the day and last night. I felt better today, thankfully. DS is sleeping really badly at the moment - waking up in the night and getting up at 5am - and DH and I are completely exhausted. Given the lack of sleep we'll be getting very soon I could really do with a good night's sleep now. I can't believe that in three day's time I will have a new baby, if all goes to plan!

kate100 · 16/08/2005 08:46

COngratulations Misschief glad that it all worked out for you the way you wanted.

Sounds like some of you are gearing up for labour too, hopefully some more new babies soon, fingers and everything else crossed for all of you. Leahbump, I hope that things get going for you soon.

Twiga, I can't believe M+P's, it's outrageous. I think you should camp on the phone to them, while lying down on the sofa taking it easy and your DH waits on you hand and foot

josey · 16/08/2005 09:39

Congrats Mischief.

I have just got DS back to school. he started school last summer and i missed it (bad awful mother) and this year everyone was convinced i would go into labour in the early ours and miss it again, so im happy i made it i can go in the next half hour (wishful thinking)

Twiga glad M & Ps have sorted themselves out.

Azure Hope you are feeling better
Colinsmommy hope you don't really have that long to wait!

Sympathise on the baby furniture front. We had hoped to get DS settled in new cot/bed before the baby pinched his but it STILL isn't here...

Twiga · 16/08/2005 14:11

Hurray! M&Ps have managed to deliver my small items - at least now I've got a moses basket, pram and car seat - baby can arrive anytime it wants now. Hopefully Thurs will be sucessful and rest of stuff will arrive no hassle. Right off to open all the boxes !

colinsmommy · 16/08/2005 16:45

Glad most of the stuff arrived, Twiga. Hope that takes a lot of worry off your mind.

josey · 17/08/2005 08:33

hurray twiga you must be delighted hope you had lots of fun opening everything and having a we practice, i keep doing that with my pram etc just incase i do something i shouldnt when the baby is actually in it

still feeling crap ad fed up, i had an awful lot of pressure and cramps down below last night and still feel the same this morning, i dont know if its all the walking im doing lately, have the midwife this afternoon so hopefully she will tell me something nice.

hope everyone is ok

Dazie · 17/08/2005 15:54

hi everyone!

Max has arrived weighing in at 8 pounds 9 1/2 ounces. He didnt wait around I went into hospital at 4pm on monday to get checked over as waters had broken in the early hours of the morning and they wanted to check me over. I was 4cm dilated so the midwife did a strech and sweep and within two hours he arrived. I used gas and air for the contractions which was fantastic and I wanted to be in control for the pushing so gave up just before.

We are all doing really well dd isnt very impressed ds is being an angel.

just a quick note to all those on second or thirds make sure you get decent painkillers for your after pains as they are really bad!!

josey · 17/08/2005 15:58

Congratulations Dazie glad everything went well for you.well done you on the lack of pain relief also.

Twiga · 17/08/2005 16:05

Congratulations Dazie! Glad to hear it all went well and that Max arrived safely

colinsmommy · 17/08/2005 16:14

Congratulations Dazie!! Love the name Max.

Had Colin's birthday yesterday. Everything went really well. Glad I kept it so simple. Now we just have to go visit the in-laws tomorrow (his actual birthday) and we are done. I felt really good yesterday, but didn't get much sleep last night and am tired already this morning.

colinsmommy · 18/08/2005 16:33

It sure is quiet. Does this mean you all are out having babies and I'm the only one left?

kate100 · 18/08/2005 16:34

Congratulations Dazie, Love the name! I know what you mean about the afterpains, they were really painful this time around.

Colinsmommy, hope that you enjoy your little ones birthday, no contractions today I hope!!

colinsmommy · 18/08/2005 16:41

Thanks Kate!!!!

Eulalia · 18/08/2005 16:53

Congrats Misschief and Dazie

colinsmommy - Happy Birthday to your ds (had mine on Monday - now 40 arggh!!)

ds is doing really well - weighed yesterday at 19 days - 8lbs 5 1/2 oz. Breastfeeding giong well - I seem to be swamped with milk. have to wear a bra in bed at night for the night feeding otherwise I get soaked.

Good luck to all those still waiting.
