Congratulations Suzi and Fatbird. Love the name Ethan especially. It was in contention for our choice of boy's name (if it is a boy), too.

Went to the dr. yesterday and she said the baby's head is so far down she can't tell how far I'm dilated because it is eclipsing the cervix. I guess the cervix has really thinned out, too. She told me to come straight to the hospital on my 1st contraction and not even wait for a 2nd one, because if I am really dilated and it stays so low it should come really fast. She said if I were anyone else she would think the baby is a really short time from coming, but she thought that about me last time, and I hung on for another 3 weeks. MIL has been here while DH is away, and she is leaving this morning, and DH doesn't come back until tomorrow, so I hope it does take a longer time this time, I guess.

MissChief · 11/08/2005 09:56

hi there - big congratulations to Suzi and Fatbird. also colinsmommy - hope you're doing okay. still hanging on here now nearly 2 weeks overdue by scan date so one way or another will have to get this babe out over next couple of days..trying my best to let nature take its course though, aided by hot curries, sex etc - still no response yet though...

suzi2 · 11/08/2005 10:23

Dazie - Logan is my firstand his didn't engage so try not to worry about that.

wilbur · 11/08/2005 11:57

hello all - just to say that Caspar Glyn arrived at 1.22 am on Monday 8th. He's utterly gorgeous and a complete snuggle monster - I may never put him down.... Home birth went really well - I've posted more on a birth announcement thread if you're interested. Congrats to suzi2 - look forward to more news from everyone else soon.

Dazie · 11/08/2005 15:29

Congratulations to the latest arrivals!! I think thats 6 boys and 4 girls so far.

Suzi2-Im glad there is someone else who is like me, neither ds or dds head engaged until I went into labour.

Misschief-how awful for you to have gone this long overdue how do you cope? super woman I think!!

I am having alot of bh contractions but nothing serious Im not getting my hopes up. Not feeling as tired but I am fed up with nesting so have stopped doing things. Will be at balloon fiesta tomorrow so lots of walking around hopefully I wont go into labour there as I may never get out again if the car park is jammed!!

Twiga · 11/08/2005 19:31

Hi all, not posted much the last few days as been feeling absolutly shattered - am def developing a two hourly night time routine, if not for a drink then to go to the bathroom. have had a hectic week with appts and also helping to run a hol club for around 80 kids at our Church.

Finally got to see a physio on Monday and have been given a maternity support brace -much more comfy and effective than the tubi-grip. have to go back to the physio this coming Monday for a full asessment and poss crutches - the brace has restricted my movement quite a lot but I guess with being so sore that can only be a good thing, it has also reduced the aches at night time and pelvis doesn't seem as clicky.

Have started on the RL tea and have been getting some well co-ordinated BH - baby's head feels really low, will be interested to see what the mw says when I see her in a week. Didn't ever think I'd get fed up with being pg but am getting to the point where i'd love things to happen so I can meet my wee one and feel less ungainly!

Also been a long to a TENS class and a workshop on gf this week. Wasn't sure abouthte TENS machinge, not sure about the sensation but have gone ahead and hired one at Boots anyway - should get it in the next few days. Dh pointed out that until I'm actually in pain and using it, it will feel slightly diff, and that it was better to have a go and disgard it if I don't like it then not and wander if it might have helped. Bf workshop was great, really straightfwd and clear info given and dh came too which was lovely - figured if we both know how it works then he can help if we run into probs - he was the only guy in the class so felt for him a bit but the mw was great and made sure he was included.

Suzi2, Fatbirdtoo and Wilbur many congratulations on the safe arrival of your boys, you've picked some lovely names .

Miaou, Kate and Eulalia great to hear that things are going well with your new arrivals. Eulalaia, thanks for the email, have replied.

Azure and Beachyhead not long to go now before you meet your babies, must be strange to know when you're having them but very exciting too. Azure good to hear you're having a nice break. Beachyhead I hope that things have settled down and all the appts haven't been too stressful.

Josey, sounds like things are hotting up at your end, hope once baby arrives the spd pain eases up for you.

Leahbump, hope things happen soon, much sympathy re: spd.

Colinsmommy, sounds like you could go anytime! If you don't get to keep me company right up until the 31st don't forget to pop in and say hi as at the rate this thread is going it's going to be very quiet.

KMS · 11/08/2005 22:04

Sorry not had time to catch up on all the recent deliveries! but congratulations to all.

I have to announce that Finlay Leo arrived on Monday (8th) much to my suprise as he was only 1 day late!!

had a very quick second stage of 4 mins!!

He isn't feeding very well so have to wake him and I'm currently expressing and syringing some down as he is getting dehydrated and very lethargic. So has been a bit time consuming today.

DS's and DD think he is the bee's knee's and DD keeps kissing and cuddling him, I'm sure that will change soon though!

Good luck to all who are still waiting,
Will post full story on anouncmetns soon

Twiga · 12/08/2005 07:56

Great news KMS, congratulations - hope things improve on the feeding front soon.

Eulalia · 12/08/2005 09:14

Congratulations fatbird on baby Ethan, what a big boy.

Congrats wilbur - will read your annoucement.

KMS - congratulations - hope feeding sorts itself out soon.

Thanks Twiga for the email - will reply soon. Hope to catch up properly soon - got a V busy weekend ahead. The big 4 OH! is Monday. Tonight we have combined birthday / baby head wetting celebrations and a friend who was married recently also is coming. tomorrow a BBQ. sunday family party with twin sister and older sisters and then Monday the day itself. Whew!

Tuesday back to school and normal

josey · 12/08/2005 10:53

congrats KMS hope Finlay starts feeding well for you soon. How are you now hope you are all pain free from your SPD?

Ive had a horrible night, i went to bed feeling fine to watch tv then had major hot flushes and started being sick, i eventually got to sleep to wake up with very sore tummy PANIC!!! then realise once brain and body engaged i had to run in my best waddle to the loo, at 2pm i then had the urge to make sure the house was tidy and then i was starving so made a sandwich. so im feeling tired and grotty today, i hope this ends soon before i run the risk of becoming depressed.

Hope everyone else is fine, we are a very quiet lot just now, hopefully that means everyone is having lovely little babies

congratulations KMS and all our august babies born so far- its getting to be a steady stream of little arrivals now! Ethan is doin really well, I can't believe he has been here just over a week already! I'm looking forward to goin out and about with him but just enjoying the time at home getting to know him for now. DP has not been around much this week due to work but has 2 weeks off starting next week so v. excited about that.
I can't stop looking at my little one in absolute amazement, nature really is a miracle and we are truly blessed.
Good luck to all you girls to yet meet your little miracles! love from a very smitten, no longer a fatbird! I'll keep watching and posting!

kate100 · 12/08/2005 15:07

Congratulations KMS, hope that the feeding situation improves, it sounds very worrying. I have the opposite problem as DS2 is goig through his 2 weeks growth spurt and I feel as if I have him permanently attatched to me!! The midwife had only held him once as every other tome she's been he's been feeding.

Hope everyone else is doing OK, Misschief, really hope things get going for you soon.

colinsmommy · 12/08/2005 15:57

Congratulations KMS. Hope the feeding gets easier.

Twiga-I'll still be around, you'll go before me, I'm sure. Last time I was told labor was going to be anytime, it meant 3 weeks. At least the baby held out until DH got home.

Hope your baby comes out soon, MissChief. I'd be going crazy.

beachyhead · 12/08/2005 18:00

we're not even half way thru august and we must have done more than half our babies......its my last weekend before my 2 kids become 3!!!! all seems quiet here and have proved my consultant wrong by getting this far - 38 weeks tomorrow - longest pregnancy so far........really looking forward to seeing her - I have everything ready at last......

Flossam · 12/08/2005 18:15

BH, So pleased to see you have made it so far with all your history. I might bump into you next weekend, you never know, if you go in, I think I'll be working both sat and sun. Hope it all goes swimmingly for you. x

beachyhead · 12/08/2005 19:30

oh, come and find me if I'm still there. I go in Tuesday morning and will probably get out friday or saturday, depending on how its gone!!!!

Azure · 12/08/2005 21:29

Hurrah, I've finally got internet connection at home again, thanks to my work-supplied laptop. Many congratulations to all the new arrivals - all boys this week by the sounds of things. I had day assessment unit check-ups on Tuesday (blood pressure still high, so more blood tests and monitoring) and a return visit today (BP a bit better). Next visit to the hospital is on Wednesday for the c-section preliminaries. I'm fed up with the decorators still being around - I just want the house to myself. At least they've finished the nursery so I'm finally able to sort things out.

Twiga · 12/08/2005 21:49

Having a really bad day - see here as too long to type out again Mammas & Pappas disaster!

Azure · 12/08/2005 22:01

Oh no, sorry to read that Twiga. What an outrageous situation, especially given the length of time they've had your money and the enormous delivery fee. I do hope you get everything that you want in time.

Twiga · 12/08/2005 22:05

thanks Azure - been in tears on and off all afternoon, nursery is all painted and curtains up, dh has done such a lovely job and now it's just standing empty - need a carseat as you have to take baby out of hospital in one - could borrow stuff from friends but it's just not what I had in mind - wanted everything to be perfect especially as this is our first. Looking fwd to dh getting home shortly as in neeed of a hug!

josey · 13/08/2005 08:24

Twiga sorry to here you have had so many problems with Mama's and Papas, I have heard of a few other people having problems with them direct so i ordered the stuff i wanted from the Glasgow Pram Centre online or over the phone and they are so quick and helpful you could try them see if they have your stuff and if they can deliver (its free) asap and if they can cancel with Mamas and Papas and demand interest!
Try not to get too upset im sure it will work out for the best meantime ((hugs))

Ohh, Beachyhead, I'll try and see if your there. Good luck!

Dazie · 15/08/2005 04:05

aaaaahhhhhhh its 3:53am and my waters just broke not in pain yet but been sleeping so well I think I slept through some contrations.
Ive done so much walking over the past three days I think it might have done the trick. Not had too many strong contractions yet but this is third and I never really did when the others were ready to pop (both of whom are asleep at the mo, we are just deciding what to do when we need to go in as it will be rush hour in about 3 hrs). Due date is tomorrow but I hope I dont go on that long and he arrives today! Will get back to you with the news later!!

blossom2 · 15/08/2005 04:29

Dazie - i hope it all goes well

Em32 · 15/08/2005 09:37

Dazie Hope you've had your LO by now. Colinsmommy are you still around?
I'm getting regular and quite painful sometimes BH and feeling sick. I've dropped so much I can barely keep my bump covered anymore.
Anyone else out there?
