Yep Cherry husband was completely serious. He hasn't lived it down though, it's one of my favourite "DH being dopey" stories! We're not doing anything special, well unless you count getting our windows done (and no that isn't a euphemism!)... we're desperate to get our sash windows renovated before the LO arrives.

Now I don't have the list of names to remind me of who did/asked what in front of me..... Let's see if I can remember

Lilypad.... welcome! And on the maternity clothes thing it depends where you are. I've been given BLANK looks in a number of big stores (next, M&S....) that didn't stock the maternity line. Internet seems to be the best bet, but it's not much good for trying-on-and-seeing.

soontobefatnat poor you with the nosebleed. It's all supposed to be blood vessels engorging and stuff isn't it? So yes, I think perfectly normal. But so are a lot of other pregnancy things, it doesn't make them pleasurable!!!

CazEm I'm with you on the labour fear... in fact I don't think it was the labour bit that freaked me on OBEM last night, so much as the emergency C section. Think I'd be massively traumatised if our little one came into the world with me unconscious and DH not there.

isheisnthe · 17/03/2010 10:37

Got over 22 weeks to go and I just want o have this baby already! impatient or bored of pregnancy I am not really sure!

I really dont remember it lasting this long with DS1 & 2!

jennycomelately · 17/03/2010 10:39

Chocolate brownies you say? Sure I shouldn't but hey, I'm eating anything I feel like at the moment! Celebrating not being sick much any more!

Just watched OBEM - thought both the blokes were so sweet this week, makes a nice change from some of the previous ones. They seem to spend waaaay too much time on their backs in that hospital.

Trying to book a scan but have left it to DH to sort as he can only make certain dates, oh and he's paying! Hoping they'll do a 20 week scan before 20 weeks, I still can't feel the baby move and really want to make sure s/he's ok in there.

I've had a couple of bad nosebleeds recently Nat which was a bit alarming. Ruined my duvet cover too!

I'm tempted by some of those Hotmilk PJs - hoping not to buy too much maternity wear this time as I still have quite a lot from last time, but I'll probably still be needing baggy PJs for months after I actually give birth!

Happy anniversary Pample . Our 21st anniversary is a week before the baby's due so not sure what sort of celebration I'll manage!

Must be more productive today!

Oh Great List Manager Cherry could you add team yellow next to my name? It might help me to keep to plan and not-find-out. DH said 'it's up to you' the other day which means it's all my responsibility..... like everything else!!

Jenny sorry you're still being sick, it's rubbish isn't it!

isheisnthe · 17/03/2010 11:00

I'll just be grumpy by myself then...

CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 11:13

Whooop - friends!!!!! Can hardly believe it . How dare you have better other things to do than chat on here

I haven't watched OBEM yet, recorded tho so will watch it tonight, or at the weekend. D'oh! Can't watch it tonight, it's dd's birthday dinner!! Weekend it will have to be then.

Still can't believe she's 5 already. S'pose a lot of parents say that tho.

Caz and pample c-sections scare the bejeezus out of me too!! And dh. And they're probably not that bad considering women frequently opt for that rather than a natural birth.

Then again I'm completely terrified of sugery full stop!! So that might have something to do with it

Anyone wants a chocolate hobnob?

Well done Cherry, ace brownies BTW..

Issy (and this is a bit rich coming from me) Don't be grumpy - YOU'RE HAVING A BABY!

Relieved to see I wasn't the only one freaked by OBEM last night as was the first time I'd watched it. I sat by myself with tears streaming down my face as the lady was wheeled off for her emergency C-section. Not sure whether I was petrified or hormonal.

CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 11:24

pample consider it done - Team Yellow teammate

isheisnthe there there , I'm impatient and excited and annoyingly fed up already too!! Can't believe theres such a long way to go. But we're all here for you/eachother

Thanks - it also seems like no one really (and I mean in a professional capicity - no family and friends) gives a shit about this baby - I have not had any contact from the midwife team, have only seen them on booking in - and then hospital appointments for 12 week scan and a consultant appointment when he discharged me backto midwife care (what care!) - when for my 16 week check and she tested my wee and did my blood pressure - that WAS IT.

Maybe this is how it is on number 3, but its been 6 years since I had a baby and I want some hand holding - moan moan moan

Missus84 · 17/03/2010 11:34

Have you been careful not to choose a cheesy/offensive/cliquey thread title?

CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 11:47

Missus

I did try - obviously don't want to upset those who clearly have issues with othere peoples threads, invites opinions, and then gets upset all over again

Bit of a joke that thread really! gave me a giggle tho

Ishe I heard with 2nd or subsequent pregnancies you can expect to have just 7 ante-natal appointments, plus consultant/scan appointments. I was very shocked indeed!!!

OP posts:
Chulita · 17/03/2010 11:51

Maybe I shouldn't watch OBEM this week then, I had an emcs with DD and it was horrible. The one and only plus was that I 'only' had a spinal, I couldn't imagine having a GA cs [shudder] DH was with me the whole time though and he was brilliant. I'm a VBAC all the way this time though cos I'm avoiding cs if at all possible. Some people find them fine, I struggled afterwards.

Thanks for starting a new thread!

isheisnthe, we care! and we can pretend to be professional so are you alright in and of yourself? are you passing stool frequently? do you feel sad/want to cry/feel like beating up your partner? (what other inane questions do they ask...)

CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 11:52

also ishe I think the juicy appointments start later on when palpation (sp) is necessary to check baby position, also heartbeat checks, discussions re birth plans, any issues of yours you want to raise, parent class discussions etc...

I agree we seem to just be left on our own to 'deal with it' a lot of the time. If my blood pressure was regular I wouldn't have seen my mw at all between 16 and 26 weeks.

OP posts:
weehector · 17/03/2010 11:52

Cherry I was hoping to see..Aug 2010~exclusively for fat slags expecting schweet, ickle babies

Issy Here's a loan of my time machine, it does seem to work if you do yoga and think about cakes all the time. I'm sorry to hear you feel you're just a number to the NHS - hopefully, your midwife will surprise you soon. (I have a no nonsense old school MW and felt the same way until she softened around the 16 week mark - now I think she's brilliant and value her experience).

But anyhow, I seem to have developed 'the energy'. I was up ironing at 8.30am for no apparent reason when I could have been lolling about in bed with a cup of tea. I think I may be nesting but it could just be a half hearted attempt to raise my housekeeping standards above the dysentry level.

Off to buy paint for the hall.

CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 11:57

weehector, Shall we keep that title in mind for the next one

As for nesting, when does it actually start? I find I'm actually wanting to detox the house and clean the bathroom etc... Not like me at all.
Could it just be a reaction to actually having some energy as opposed to the 1st trimester sleepy/pukey time?

OP posts:
CherryPie3 · 17/03/2010 12:02

right I'm off girlies, half day at work and now I'm off to go bake at nursery with ds. Then I'll be baking at home for dd's birthday so it;s all happening today

Take Care, will catch up tomorrow xxx

OP posts:
NichyNoo · 17/03/2010 12:41

Hee hee CherryPie3...I agree with the nesting.

I have a list of things to do - clear out the cellar, paint the second bedroom (which will be baby's room), buy baby furniture....clean skirting boards

Am still being Miss Paranoid though and not doing ANYTHING until after the 20 week scan on Friday.

Chulita · 17/03/2010 12:55

Nesting eh? I never got the urge with DD and DH is fervently hoping I do with this one nothing yet...I'm not the most houseproud of people!
I'm bursting for a wee but I'm soooo snug on the futon I don't want to move, grr!

Dibbydab · 17/03/2010 16:23

Waaaaaah, you moved threads and I didn't notice - I am the Fred Killer on the last Fred - was just sat there on my own for ages watching the tumble weed and wondering where everyone was didn't you hear me shouting "cooooeeeee, where are you all?"

Anyhooooo Hello LilyPad and Carolondon and welcome - we should a waving emoticon or something.

That OBEM has a lot to answer for!!! Just as DH is kind of, very nearly, possibly coming round to the idea of a home birth that woman has to go and have a crash c-section with about 3 million doctors rushing around like something out of ER. I've been telling him for weeks that "things don't happen quickly in labour" and "the midwives can tell if things are starting to go wrong" and "we'll have plently of time to transfer to the hospital if we have to" but after watching last night's episode he's adamant that we have this one in hospital .

Fortunately I have another 19 weeks and 5 days of being a moany old whinge bag to work my womanly wiles on him and get him round to my way of thinking...

Chulita · 17/03/2010 16:32

Lol dibby, I was recovering from the shock of you suggesting I share Hobnobs...some things you just can't...can you?
Home births are great! If you live close-ish to the hospital it shouldn't be a problem, hope you manage to wear him down!
I just realised I've got 15 weeks til this little one is full-term...eek!

neenz · 17/03/2010 16:57

I haven't watched OBEM yet but I wonder if that c-section woman would have been considered for home birth anyway? They are really strict and won't let you have one if there is the slightest hint of complication. Like I said, not seen it yet so don't know her history.

As for labour - it is strange that not one single labour on OBEM was like my own - I mean I think all labours are different and the best thing you can do is read lots of books, then you won't be scared at all. Hypnobirthing is brilliant too I found, and it is only a few hours of pain so you can cope with it! In some circumstances eg if labour is progressing really slowly then an epidural gives you a break and you might really need it, but I don't think you can compare it to other things eg operations where you get full pain relief, only because the epidural can actually make labour more difficult and makes it more likely that you will need further intervention eg c-section. So epidurals can be great in some circs but I wouldn't go in there thinking I'm definitely having one, but that's just me

I think that thread slagging off AN/PN threads has been pulled! What was the gist - was it just the thread titles (which actually can be a bit puke-inducing when they rhyme etc but ours are always good) or the content too?

marzipananimal · 17/03/2010 17:27

Hello everyone one the new thread!

I thought I was over ms but puked up this morning in the toilet on the train - I really think that is the most disgusting place to have to be sick!

lilypad the only shops that seem to sell maternity stuff where I live are New Look and mothercare. H&M is supposed to be good though and I'm sure some m&S stores have it so maybe check which ones on their websites and plan a shopping trip elsewhere (I'm planning to go to Harrogate or Leeds sometime soon for some maternity shopping )
