silver The irrational crying is a very positive pregnancy signal!

ski Photos come at a price you know!

cokie Husband is willing to sell his body, so I see no isshoos, not like I am pimping him out? I am a rubbish liar and I am not sure where the nearest EPU is (not that that is an excuse). I think the FMC scan will be cash well spent.

icklepiggy I is with you. We will deal with whatever is thrown at us, no matter how tough. As I think someone else said, was it rots? about even if you have a perfect baby there is no guarantee that you wont have events later in life that will test you.

I think that the easter egg has cheered me up and helped me regain my composure.

Fanks Team PESH. I hearts you all.

Btw, bad story wrt NF testing. Friend of mine came back with a very high chance of having a Downs baby. This was her third - she said if it'd been the first she wouldn't have considered termination, but she knew she didn't have the time for 2 healthy children and one with extra needs. NHS wanted her to book in for an abortion asap, she had to pay for her OWN amneostesis (sic?) at 90 quid only to be told that he was fine. He's 4 now and absolutely fine. I still find that hard to stomach, that they'd rather have given her a termination than a fecking test to find out for sure!

iggy I bought the CD and book last week but have yet to open it (been too busy house hunting) Must make a start...

silver No HB at 10 weeks my arse! But then again, maybe she meant that she wouldn't listen in to the heartbeat yet? When I saw my MW at 16/17 weeks she said they don't normally use the soncaid doppler thingy, or palpate the bump, until the first app after the 20-week scan (next week for me)

iggypiggy · 25/03/2010 12:33

VAG I muchly enjoyed the yoga this week - would def recommend going. It all ties up with the hypnobirthing stuff (alot of the same messages) plus the Birth Skills book that cunty recommended - which i haz also read - I like that the messages coming through to me are all linking up...

iggypiggy · 25/03/2010 12:35

cas the CD is just the affirmations - which on their own sound a bit silly - but after I had read the book, made more sense!

CurlyCasperReturns · 25/03/2010 12:38

Hear, hear. My preggo yoga class is definitely more ante-natal relaxation than actual yoga. I came away with a leaflet this week, with all the positions and breathing techniques laid out in it. It was partners week too, so SFF came along. At one point everyone had to stand in a circle and hold hands. The rest of the room had managed to arrange themselves in a man, woman, man, woman fashion, but somehow SFF ended in in the grasp of a big butch daddy-to-be, who declared "this is a bit gay". SFF replied "it's ok, haven't you met my wife?", nodding in my direction. The others laughed and the other bloke realised he had to man grow up and just be there to support his lovely missus.

And they had to give us massages.

CurlyCasperReturns · 25/03/2010 12:39

Fanks iggs I will start with the reading then.

CUNextTuesday · 25/03/2010 12:46

iggs despite the fact i recommended that book to you I haven't got past the 'banging stress balls together' bit. I was so slackjawed with the vision of myself banging two lumps of foam in time with the mantra 'red red blue blue' that I put the book down there and then. All I could think about was one of those little monkeys in a fez crashing two cymbals together.

I'm sure I'll get round to it again when I get nearer D Day, but the whole image seemed so absurd that I went rigid with shock

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 12:46

FMC said they could see me today at 4pm but its a bit short notice really and as I am 10 weeks already to wait til I hit 12 for the scan.

So me and Husband are going on 8th April to London Tahn to have the scan.

Quick call to Hubby to ask if I have done the right thing by waiting til 8th April and and not trying to get there today and he said course I have. Who the fuck knows what is right, wrong or in between. I don't.

I told the lady on the phone that the NHS have booked me in for the following week and she said that was not the optimum time for scanning. So looks like I will be having my private scan on 8th and my NHS on 15th.

Now only two weeks to kill, which I can do. I am sure. Plus Easter is slap bang in the middle which is plenty to take anyone's mind off stuff. Please tell me I am not completely mad to wait til 8th!!??

Will have to plan outfit to wear so I fits in with the other Harley Street preggos. Not sure my stinky jods will cut it. Perhaps my XC colours would tho?

Is anxiety and general fucked-up-ness a positive sign of a preggo too?

skihorse · 25/03/2010 12:46

I've just found out one of my best mates from uni is a differ - and a BESH of course. Came off the pill 8 months ago and is now 5w and 5d. I'm so happy for her!

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 25/03/2010 13:21

cunty yes.. am not 100% sure about bits of that book but I like the general principles... They talk alot about sounds you can make - and in yoga we were practcising low sounds for birth and relaxing the tongue - then when I read the Hippo book it was also talking about making low sounds and if you mouth and toungue are relaxed it has a profound effect on your whole body - so am reasoning that by taking bits common to all of the books - am onto a winner

skihorse · 25/03/2010 13:35

Pfff, who needs hypnotherapy? I'm just going to have jailbait read aloud from a vegan cookbook. And I'll weave a lentil-sock to cover my cord a la carrots until it falls off 2 weeks later. I will have died with boredom by then.

My mum just emailed me to say that SLINGS KILL BAYBEES, does I still want one? Yes, I said, pls to bring it to Newcastle with you? I then went on to list all the anti-baybee things I have done/eaten since diffed. I do not expect her to raise an eyebrow - but rather a story involving "oh everyone did it in the 70s darling".

silver Dare we ask which county you're in?

OP posts:
SilverSky · 25/03/2010 13:37

Buckinghamshire of course!

skihorse · 25/03/2010 13:41

silver Right, well pandy can help you out/tell you where to go then. See, us PESHes know everyfink. And everyfink. Btw, just in case you start ramping up your anxiety and wotnot again, I had my "official" scan at 9+6 (due to xmas hols) and they did all Julian's measurements then. Midwife said that because everything was looking good at that stage I could/should stop worrying which was wonderful to hear.

iggypiggy · 25/03/2010 13:42

oooh - ski you reminds me - I haz done more sling research and am currently favouring the Ergo Baby carrier - anyone got any thoughts on this one? Ergo carrier Link

Horse news - boring for those who does not care - so apols... - Mine was tried out by teen yesterday who loves him and is taking him to Pony Club rally on Saturday for proper experimentation - then will have him on trial over Easter Hols... am kind of and cos am glad he is doing something... but he is my boy...

rollerbaby · 25/03/2010 13:44

I grew up in Buckinghamshire... good convent girl in case you hadn't guessed.

Silver can't they see you sooner? Do you have to wait until 8th?

CUNextTuesday · 25/03/2010 13:53

Thos slings that have been recalled I quite liked - the ones that go across your body rather than upright.

Will have to Think Again about sling-related issues.

skihorse · 25/03/2010 13:54

iggy I am about pony club rally but fear I'll not fool anyone in to thinking I'm 14. Why can't they do Pony Club (+camp) for grown-ups?

OP posts:
skihorse · 25/03/2010 13:55

cunty Well I'm still getting one - the Premaxx one. According to the Daily Mail article on monday (I think) it's 20 baybees in 14 years. It's hardly an epidemic, but thank the lord the media is running with something important like this...

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 25/03/2010 13:57

In that case I have Thought Again about sling-related issues and I will get one

CurlyCasperReturns · 25/03/2010 13:59

i has ordered a stretchy wrap sling from cos's recommended site just two days ago.

It is not a baby killer.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 14:02

Ski hurrah for your friend!

Slings Do Not Kill Babies. For those who missed my FB entry, there is a specific style of sling which has caused 3 babies to die because of V poor design. This does not make baby carriers dangerous, it makes a specific style dangerous.

here's the link

AVOID this style of carrier where the baby is all squished up with his head tucked down.

Ergos are FAB. Love them. Also love Mei Tais. My friend loves regular slings (not this kind obviously) and just walks around all day with a lovely little baby feeding off her as and when (she wears nursing tops and dresses) - no pram ever.

silver and iggy actually I was going to say that the single most important thing i labour is to be relaxed. For me, I'd hate to be in hopsital but if you feel more comfortable there then that's the place to be so NERRR.

iggy fantastic news. I know it's hard but he'll have a great time

ski NF story is shocking. Not the high risk, that's the point of it, but the fact they'd terminate without checking. Awful The problem with Downs is that you can be slightly damaged (slightly sub-normal IQ, not too many physical problems) to VERY damaged (very low IQ, major health problems, never able to be at all independent). My SIL has a sister with V severe Downs who is now in her 50s, and has been in a care home since she was a child (teen at least). SIL says that her sister totally ruined her childhood (she has 2 other brothers). Certainly it drove her mother completely mad with the stress (in a literal sense).

But for every bad story there's a lovely one of a fantastic person who the world shouldn't be without.

Getting through the testing was the hardest thing for me, and the further we got, the more I was upset at it all and just didn't know how I'd cope with a termination, or if I could go through with one. YOB was the same. I really feel for you pre-NF girls

vag do you have any patterns for knitting with lentils?

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 14:05

Bloody hell you lot are chatty today.

pandora69 · 25/03/2010 14:07

Sorry - brain fried today. What am I supposed to able to help out with? I am to frazzled to read many posts today. A vvv important master of hounds has rung about big horse, but wants me to just 'pop him up to Cheshire' for him to hunt for the day before he will cough up the dosh.

I keep repeating the mantra 'try it, vet it, pay for it, take it home.' But he is having none of it and just waltzes off into another story of yet another horse he bought off someone who was happy to let him have the horse without him paying straight away.

Gah! I knew there was a reason I don't sell horses! And the willy is still swollen.
