A new thread for the gabbers.

Hopefully we will find out during the course of this thread whether dear cheggers has laid a baybee or two yet!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 30/03/2010 14:16

Ooh that sounded a bit stroppy. Please read it with a smile as it was intended (although I will never cross the threshold of Primark )

skihorse · 30/03/2010 14:17

I know carrots and I are opposed on this issue, but I honestly believe that child labour (whilst obviously abhorrent) provides those kids with money. A teeny wage is better than no wage imo.

Personally I won't be buying pants, droid, disposable or made by nimble-fingered child labourers. I'm going to knit some from compost.

curly, we're 5'4" and 5'7". GIANTS I tells ya.

iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 14:21

I expect you'll take this the wrong way rots - I actually don't mean it in a grumpy way - but reading your posts on why I shouldn't use nestle/primark/disposable nappies etc - childishly makes me really want to do any of those things in fit of rebellion...

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 14:28

iggy. all the aforementioned new comfy pants are Primark. And i loves them.

OkieCokie · 30/03/2010 14:29

OK rots point taken, I would never usually darken the door of Primark other than for big pants. I did say primark or similar. But I am not going to wear paper pants and my droid pants will be too small.

Look at all you lot wit your height. I am a mere 5'2"

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 30/03/2010 14:34

My best friends at school were 5'4" and used to talk across me al the time so I had to develop an unflattering stoop or feel left out most of the time I seriously felt like a mutant giant throughout my teenage years. Luckily I then went to Brizzle Uni where the inbred toffs come up nice and tall, and I felt a lot less mutated. TSF is part-Scandi and therefore by rights should be at least 6'2" so is therefore teeny-tiny to me. But lovely

It's a good thing we're draped over chaise longues where height has no matter, isn't it?

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 14:35

No disposing here - I hoard my fashions as long as they fit . I'm recycling my manky knickers by using them instead of disposables. And I plan to keep my monkey/penguin/icecream/silly Primark pants for as long as I live because they are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn.

I could continue preaching about the benefits of Primucci for maternity wardrobes but I won't. Each to their own and all that. No sermons required. Ta.

skihorse · 30/03/2010 14:35

I actually worked for Nestle back in 98/99? Aside from the fact that the people I worked with were quite deluded (marketing - sorry for anyone I'm offending here)... KitKats are very nom nom.

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 14:37

I should just add to my post above - that my best mate does this to me too - plus emailing me thousands of petitions to save/ stop something, plus giving me some book on evil brands. So I do really mean it when I say 'is not in a grumpy way that I say it' cos I love my best mate... she is just very 'campaigny'

casps comfy pants are the way forward - although i haz bought some from mothercare which are the best

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 14:38

(for okie's eyes only) Tip for ya: comfy pants, big, long vests, button through nighties, giant t-shirts...

yeay, I'm in a majority of short-arses!

iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 14:39

OMG SKI you did marketing - the SHAME of it

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 30/03/2010 14:40

Rots what's the lowdown on M&S knicks? - they are all I ever wear (though they do last a disgusting length of time due to me having been the same size for the last 15 years...)

skihorse · 30/03/2010 14:40

VAG I live in NL. I win. Even in 6" heels I'm still a fecking midget. Jailbait feels like a manchild... oh. My last bf was 6'4" and tbh I much prefer a man whose eyes I can gaze in to without getting a crick in my neck!

OP posts:
CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 14:43

Another almost snap iggs my bestest, bestest friend is the same - 'tho' she never e-mails me stuff or pulls me up for not following her beliefs. Her Facebook is covered in stuff. Sometimes I take notice, sometimes I don't. Doesn't mean we don't love eachother to bits. She just does her campaigning in the right places.

skihorse · 30/03/2010 14:45

iggy One of my dearest friends from uni is a "campaigner", this week it's "save our summertime", something to do with extra daylight in winter. Last week it was nestle. Recently it's been Greenpeace. I adore him but really feel it's time for him to get a job and stop turning up on BBC1 sporting a beard and ranting.

I didn't really do marketing - I was a sekretry (9 quid an hour tax-free as a student kerching) - it was so mind-numbingly shit that I faked illness so I didn't have to go back. The eejits were unable to find the documents left on the keyboard... I did get to taste new flavours though.

OP posts:
OkieCokie · 30/03/2010 14:50

Oh yes casp the button trough nighties that look like something my gran used to wear. I did buy one for my hospital trip last time but felt such a dick in it I stuck with the lovely hospital gown. I lived in it for a good 2 days then progressed to tracky bums, BIG pants and support vest top which I could whip my norks out of no prob.

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 15:02

okie Primucci are doing boyfriend shirts (in the nightwear section) that are just the job. I plan to live in them after the birth. And basic t-shirt style nighties with button top half. They seem great for breast-feeding and don't look like what granny would wear. At a fiver, much easier to justify that that expensive wrap outfit thingy the NCT is trying to market. Perfect outfit for labour? No, a fancy rip-off that's going to get covered in blood and allsorts and then binned. A complete nonsense IMO.

I have joined the NCT, think much of it's work is worthwhile, but the catalogue just smacks of things for people with more money than sense who are trying to get one over on their AN/toddler group compadres.

rant over. Must not preach....

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 30/03/2010 15:06

Well, I for one shall certainly not be wearing anything so undignified as a granny nightie or mans t-shirt to give birth in - I shall be investing in one of these - or maybe a few, since labour could take more than a few hours and I cannot be seen in the same outfit twice.

Pleasingly they have to be shipped from New Zealand too.

iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 15:08

cas have to admit I like the look of the bednest in the NCT catalogue tho

I think everyone must have a 'campaigny' friend then - mine is lovely and never has a go at me for not agreeing with her - but she does include me in her emails to all about whatever cause it is

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 15:10

Me likey bednest too - but it seemed hard to justify it for just six months.

Happy viability day iggs! A brighter side for you to be seeing.

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 15:13

vag that's just what I meant! All that money to get covered in vernix, blood and meconium. Perhaps you could just pass it off as tie-dyed after the event? [sicko emoticon]

iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 15:17

oooh is today viability day?! For some reason i had 26 weeks in head... I am losing my mind tho...

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 15:20

27 weeks is third tri...

pandora69 · 30/03/2010 15:38

Noone says anything for aaaaages, then I nip out to the shops and you've all been gabbing like mad!

Ski I like the sound of a Tit-lady! Does she just help you hold your tit in the baybee's mouth for 8 days or does she make you cups of tea and have a little tidy up too? Whatever - I want one.

Rots Yah - I have joined the posh bird's gang and am going independent. I figure she can't fuck it up much more than a whole hossie full fo midwives and doctors did last time. We discussed yesterday what my baybee's birth is going to be like - it will be like going to the supermarket for the big shop. You go, get what you need, come back home and have a cup of tea and a sit down as it was a little bit tiring. I have been practicing with the 'big shop' shopping today .

Who's doing the list? Slap me down for the 6th Sep. It'll either be really late because all the babies in my family are really late - weeks late sometimes! Or it'll be born on 31st Aug and be the youngest at school forever. I don't know which is worse! Could be a boy, but that's on the basis of a lovely private scan we had were the lady said it was too early to normally tell. Crappy NHS scan is in 3 weeks - though who knows whether they will be able to see anything. You couldn't even tell it was a baby at the 12 week scan.

I will be wearing the other nightie from the 2-pack I bought to give birth in last time Might as well get my money's worth!

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 15:53

This still isn't a fucking list! But if you want any info added/changed you've got 25 (or less) posts in which to do it. Just copy and paste from below then add. If you don't do it yourself it won't happen, cause I've got actual work to be doing you know!

Speak now or cringe at the next OP for its duration mwahhhhhh haaaa hhhaaaaa haaaa
