Due October 2010 - anyone else??

loueytbg · 21/01/2010 13:26

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

I've got the massive mood swings, too. Apparently that's just business as usual, though,

Also feel tired... but then DS has never slept through in 11 months (don't want to scare anyone!!), so I generally feel like a zombie!! No real MS yet....

Welcome to all the newcomers. And congratulations!

Dippingbackin, same here. Late nights, lots of stress, didn't get seen. But glad it's all over now for you

Saw doc today. Midwife "booking in" appointment in 3 weeks, so guess the scan will be at 12 weeks or so again. Receptionists at the medical centre were so lovely. Beside themselves with joy to be filling in the forms for me (they were there at the beginning when I found it quite tough for a few weeks... so they seem to have really take me under their wing)

So:

Hey ladies... Just got BFP today and am in total shock!

Mn says my due date is 10/10/10 as well for the time being but I think it will be much later than that tbh.

#1 so am pretty terrified/excited the last child to be born in my immediate family was 27 years ago so I have no experience of any of this - gulp!

Have any of you told anyone yet? Feel like I should tell my mum but a bit scared to!

Welcome Ivy.

On the subject of telling people we are off to see DPs parents on Saturday to give them the news - will be first grandchild for them and they will literally pee their pants. They have loved 'practising' their grandparenting skills on my DCs for last four years (am divorced from their Dad) so this will make their year!!!

Picc - just found out my school got an Outstanding from Ofsted, so well worth the hassle. Wonder if we will get more than a pleasant e-mail from the Headteacher??!!!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 04/02/2010 19:12

Hello Ivy!
Everyone is different re. Telling people. Personally I now tell my mum, because I enjoy sharing it if it goes well, and with my mc I was really glad she knew and support me. Mum tends not to get stupidly irrationally excited so it works for me- might be different if your mum will run out and buy a cot!

However, with mymum and sis it's useless- they both guessed anyway lol x

Vikks · 04/02/2010 19:44

Ivy - It?s my first BFP too! I think we?ll be ok we?ve got lots of experts here that know what we?ve got in store.
MN put my EDD at the 9th but my chart on fertility friend has my late OV day recorded and that gave me an EDD 14th. Have you got a long cycle/late Ov, is why you think it?s not correct?
As for telling people, most of my close friends and family know how long we?ve been having fertility treatment so as soon as they next ask what?s happening I?m sure they?ll guess from my reaction! I?m not too worried about them knowing early because they?ve been so supportive through the highs and lows of the past years, if anything happens I?ll need them again and I know they?d want to help. So far we?ve told M&D?s, sister, bro and two close friends.

Seashells, Picc & Lady nice to ?meet? you.

loobyboo · 04/02/2010 20:15

Congratulations to all

i didn't know whether to post all not, quite scared really, did the test this morning. am 5 weeks.

am quite worried as had mc back in may 09 this will be dc3.

been to the gp and i now have to inject every day with fragmin (didn't start this with previous one differance of opinion i think) to help thin the blood as have a blood clotting disorder factor V Leiden which i only found out i had in 2008.
(had lots if test due to trying to be a surrogate for some friends),
I had dvt after my DD2 was born in 2005.

midwife appointment 01/03 long time to wait.

gp says i'm due 10/10 but mn says 06/10.

Trying not to look to far ahead this time and take it one step at a time.

also don't know whether to tell my mum or not, last time i had to tell her i was but that i had a mc (not good).

i've added my self

Don't suppose anyone can offer me a bit of advice? I have a best friend who has been trying to conceive for about 5 yrs now and I know that she is going to be devastated that I am pregnant again, pleased for me i know, but devastated all the same.
Is there anyway you would advise telling her the news or just to tell her straight and be supportive?

Sandramac · 04/02/2010 21:53

Hello and congrats to all. Have also posted on other October thread but found out was pregnant after getting home from work and have been scouring the internet since then. Can I ask what is a BFP as well? Due date is apparently 13thOct so very early. Feeling very clueless so will be nice to hear what others are going through. have just moved house so not even registered with doctor.

Sandramac · 04/02/2010 21:56

Just saw the acroymn list so fully informed on meaning of BFP

Ivytheterrible · 04/02/2010 21:56

Hey Vikks noticed you're the only other one on your first as well - eekkk! so scared.

Also so good that many of you have done this before as I know nothing and have no experience with babies.

The dates thing I don't really get how it's worked out? On the mn due date thing I came out as 10/10/10 (with first day last period 1/1/10 and 32 day cycle) but I know I didn't ovulate until around the 22nd Jan so didn't conceive until around this time so how can it be the 10/10? This fits in with the digi result I got as well which was 1-2 weeks since conception as 22nd Jan was exactly 2 weeks ago.

I think I'll go to library this weekend and get some books to try and suss this stuff out!

We haven't told anyone we were trying but I think I'll go and tell my mum 2morrow.

don'tstopmenow sorry have no experience to help you tell your friend, but I think you should tell her yourself before someone else does as this could hurt her more than finding out your preg. If she is a best friend could you ask her to me Godmother or something?

Ivytheterrible · 04/02/2010 22:00

Hi sandramac yeay there are three of us now expecting our first.

It's really weird how we are all in our 30s - I always had the idea I was leaving it late at 31 but it doesn't seem that way...

Does anyone know what we are supposed to do now we have BFP? Do we just ring our GP?

Ideally a numbered list of what I'm meant to do for the next 9 months would be nice

dontstopmenow · 04/02/2010 22:12

Thanks Ivy. Its really difficult to know what to say for the best.

I never know how much faith you can put in dates to be honest until you get your dating scan cos they seem to change it then anyway!

Regarding last post, I just rang GP's and they told me to just make appt with midwife! Was a bit put out as was hoping for a big fuss and lots of congratulations to be honest

Sandramac · 04/02/2010 22:16

Am liking the idea of a numbered list! I know what you mean about feeling I was leaving it late but I think I'm going to be one of the first out of my friends round my age.

agree with ivytheterrible that telling your friend before she finds out another way. Don't know what I'd do but maybe you should prepare yourself that she might take a little while to get used to it.

It must be a worry for those on here who had MCs before Hope it works out for all this time.

Ivytheterrible · 04/02/2010 22:20

Great Thanks - am going to ring GP in morning and see what they say and take it from there I guess!

Vikks · 04/02/2010 22:39

dontstop - I know what your talking about but from the other point of view. In my TTC years a few of my friends (who knew what I was going through) got PG and told me later that they were worried about telling me.
I was always so thrilled for them with just the smallest underlying bit of jealousy that I snapped myself out of it fast. I was more upset that they were worried about telling me. Tell your friend straight and allow them time for it to sink in. It will be a shock but a true friend will not begrudge you and I?m sure she?ll be over the moon for you.
I hope that helps.

Vikks · 04/02/2010 22:41

Ivy - I just made an appointment with my GP. It's tomorrow morning so I'll let you know what happens! Exciting! x

dontstopmenow · 04/02/2010 22:55

Vikks - Thank you! I will see friend tomorrow. Will have to tell her v. soon anyway as we tend to go out and drink wine sometimes (actually quite a lot!) and that will be difficult now

Vikks · 04/02/2010 23:24

Good luck x

tiredfeet · 04/02/2010 23:54

wow! lots of new people on the list - congratulations all , have added myself to the list, feels exciting to see it in writing

I found it hard today seeing a friend who was upset but happy for another friend who has announced a pregnancy. I know I will feel bad telling her if I am lucky enough to get that far. Don't think there is a way to tell someone that will prevent them hurting, but I do think that telling them fairly early on is a good idea, so they have time to accept it before it is public knowledge. I had a little cry when friends announced their pregnancys during the time we were trying, but I quickly sorted my head out each time and was genuinely pleased for them.

going to doctor tomorrow, the appointment was made two weeks ago to get the results of our first stage of fertility tests! going to be a bit telling the dr I am actually now pregnant!

can someone add me please, fiddly to do it on my phone!
We told our parents last night, which was good but a little scary as would be awful to have to tell them if it doesnt work out.
I am off to gp tomorrow, as our practise like to see you before you see the midwife, but I know not to expect a fuss, just a check on dates and whether I'm taking folic acid!
My only symptoms are bloated and gassy, slight twinges in nipples, and last night when I went to bed I noticed nipples sort of greasy! Anyone had that, ibfont remember seeing it in any books...

Welcome to all newbies

I went to the docs yesterday. She congratulated me and said to make a booking in appt with the midwife for around 8 weeks. While I was there I mentioned that I've been getting stomach cramps for a couple of weeks now (not much more than period pains really) and my tummy is sensitive to touch. She got me to do a urine sample and said I have a urinary infection that she's given me tablets for and she also arranged for blood tests to be taken yesterday and again on Monday just to make sure my hcg levels are rising as they should.
