Due October 2010 - anyone else??

loueytbg · 21/01/2010 13:26

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

emskaboo · 08/02/2010 10:26

Hi, can I be added in? I'm six weeks tomorrow by LMP, but I got BFNs on the day AF due, and three days late. I think I ovulated late so actually five weeks on Thursday. I had an early MC two months ago so feeling a bit anxious.

My ds is 2, and my dsd is 9.

Emskaboo PG2 age 34 EDD 4th to the 14th October 2010

LadyThompson · 08/02/2010 11:20

I'm not breathing a word until I've had the 12 week scan. I got a 1 in 96 risk last time from the nuchal scan and bloods (after getting a really strong heartbeat at 7 wks) and had to have a CVS (as it turned out DD was fine) and that sort of stuff is actually worse to bear if you have got other people asking you about it/worrying about it as well...

Elsa123 · 08/02/2010 11:25

I'm not saying a word until after 12 week scan if I get that far. Got a docs appt on Wednesday- didn't want to go so early as last time, kind of got berated for turning up straight after BFP (was all academic as was MMC), however, I need to get a medical exemption cert for something otherwise work will name and shame me for not doing something. Ahh, the politics.

What does LMP mean?

LadyThompson · 08/02/2010 11:28

It means Last Menstrual Period. It's what doctors tend to use to calculate how far gone you are (they date it from your last period not conception)

Meanbeansmum · 08/02/2010 13:11

I've been for my scan.
I have a minibeanie on board!!!!!!! 6mm CRL, everything fine!!!! Awwww, he/she looked like a proper little baby, little arm and leg buds, sat upright, cutest little beanie ever! No pic though, no pic policy in the EPU. Little heartbeat pounding away. I cried with releif! Yay!

It feels so real now. In just 11 days it's gone from an empty sac to a real baby with a heartbeat!!!

I feel all warm and fuzzy!!!!

Vikks · 08/02/2010 13:40

Meanbeansmum that's brilliant, well done you!
Mine is still 2 weeks away....can't wait!!

dippingbackin · 08/02/2010 14:06

Meanbeansmum - that is fab. As with Vikks, mine isn't until end of Feb.

Info for those of you who may develop thrush in next few months - doctor called me and said the pessaries are fine to use but definitely NOT the oral medication. Creams fine too.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 08/02/2010 15:09

Meanbean that fantastic news! Shame no pic of beanie but what a relief!

Welcome newbies- looks like October is going to be a popular month looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few months.

I'm just very tired and possibly te start of nausea- would feel happier if I had some defo symtoms. I've told my mum, sis, sil and bil as they have been through thick and thin with us. Would love to tell everyone, esp my friends whose hen dos I'm meant to be on getting hammered this spring!

ConstantlyWritingThankYouCards · 08/02/2010 16:15

I have told both sets of parents (ranged from 'we're so happy for you' to 'what took you so long?') and also two very good friends. We have lots of people coming for dinner and to stay for weekends over next few weeks and as I'm known as a bit of a boozer I think honesty is the best policy really. I'd rather my friends know anyway if something went wrong.

Work is another matter altogether. I'm planning to leave as soon as I can which will go down very badly. Not sure whether to tell them sooner rather than later and let them plan resource or leave it later so that they don't try and change my mind. Decisions, decisions...

What's everyone else doing? Gather most people are keeping quiet for the mo.

Mrsshuvel · 08/02/2010 18:33

Wow, I can't believe how much i have missed. It's only been a week!

Congratulations to all the newbies. There's so many of us now, it's brilliant!

Meanbeansmum That's wonderful news, have been thinking about you.

I meanwhile, have been so exhausted. I am so glad that DS has gone back to having an afternoon nap. I don't know how i'd manage without a little snooze in the day. MS has well and truely kicked in and the smell of cornflakes oddly seems to set me off. Stretching pains are a regular occurance too. I don't remember them happening this early with DS.

Have also found that my jeans are killing me and have given in to my maternity jeans already. Anyone one else found this with #2+ pregnancies? I feel such an imposter. I'm sure i didn't wear them until at least 5 months last time! DH says it must be twins

Scans already? How are you getting these so early or are you paying to have them done privately? Just asking as I was looking at some private clinics and getting tempted by an early scan - Just to prove to myself there is something there! I think I'll get one of those Nuchal scan things done as have read that most places don't offer this on the NHS - Is this true?

No real symptoms here yet...have had a cold for last 2 weeks now which I'm struggling to shift. Feel guilty every time I take paracetamol but have had some cracking headaches so have had to take something. I'll probably just get rid of it and then ms will kick in - great

wow mrsshuvel maternity jeans already!

LadyThompson · 08/02/2010 20:23

I'm a private patient but some authorities will give you an early scan on the NHS. Also, you don't have to pay for a nuchal scan at 12 weeks, Ivy, everybody gets one (along with a blood test, to check the risk of abnormalities).

dippingbackin · 08/02/2010 20:40

Ivy - you should get the nuchal fold scan (as LadyThompson said) as well as the anomoly scan at 20 weeks - however my GP said that some hospitals are still not offering it despite it being pretty standard practice in most places. You might want to give your antenatal clinic at the hospital a call and find out.

Re. early scan - I conceived on first cycle of Clomid (following polycystic ovary diagnosis) and they offered me a scan as a follow up. It will be nice to get the reassurance but didn't have one with first two and it was amazing seeing them at 12 weeks - it will whizz by.

Vikks · 08/02/2010 22:13

Ivy - My early scan is part of my fertility treatment. DH and I have been paying privately for 2 years for all our treatments and this is our first PG ever, we conceived through IUI. I phoned my clinic to book the scan thinking I was paying for it, so it was a nice surprise to finally get something for free. I really feel like I need it, I?m so terrified that there may be a problem after all the different drugs and operations; it still seems too good to be true! I guess that?s all pretty normal for any mum to be.

Ivytheterrible · 09/02/2010 09:13

Ah I see! Thanks for the info guys I really am clueless.com and I guess you can't believe everything you read online! I read something that said only 7% were offered a nuchal scan on the NHS??? Maybe it was just out of date.

excitedfirsttimer · 09/02/2010 09:33

Hi all, I have got my first appointment with the midwife on Thursday it seems to have taken ages for the appointment to come round, I just want them to confirm I definitely an preggers, I still can't believe it!
Not sure what will happen at this first one, will they check for a heart beat? I hope they do, I will be in my eighth week then so hopefully my little passenger will be beating away by now.
Me and hubby seem to be constantly worried since we found out, if it is not worrying if I have a drunk too much caffeine or what herbal teas are allowed, its I forgot to wash those mushrooms and now have probably got toxoplasmosis. Can't wait to get to 12 weeks so I can shout from the roof tops!

Lulabell · 09/02/2010 09:51

Hi all, can I join please?

Thanks Ivy for pointing me to the right place!

I got a bfp on Thursday night and then got myself a digital test on Friday morning, which said 3+.

I think my due date is 13th October, but I'm off to the GP this morning, and I'm hoping he can let me know for sure.

We've told my parents (because my very kind mum booked me an aromatherapy massage for last friday, which I had to change and she wanted to know why) and dh told his mum, but she's refusing to tell his dad in case he blabs lol.

It'll be my first and I'm a bit overexcited I think. Or is that normal?

It's great to see so many people on here. I'm going to go back and read it all so that I can actually contribute helpfully.

excitedfirsttimer · 09/02/2010 10:02

welcome Lulabell, totally normal to feel excited its all I think about. Lucky you could get in to the docs straight away, I have know for 3 weeks now and have not got an appointment until this week

Vikks · 09/02/2010 10:44

Lulabell Welcome from another overexcited mum to be! I think people might guess because I keep grinning to myself!
Add yourself to the list...x

Meanbeansmum · 09/02/2010 12:15

Mrsshuvel, totally normal to pop out with subsequent pregnancies lol. Maternity jeans are so comfy anyway so why not enjoy them! Thanks for thinking of me, I'm so relieved!

Welcome to all the newbies! Oct is a busy group! My friend is a mw and she reckons Sept is a nightmare month on the labour wards, all the christmas drunk babies lol. We may miss the labour ward rush in October. Teehee!

No nuchal scans at 12 weeks here just a dating scan at 12 weeks, bloods at 16 weeks for the triple test and a anomaly scan at 20 weeks. So if I want a nuchal fold scan it has to be a £120 private one done at 10-12 weeks.

I don';t feel as sick today, it worries me even though we've seen a heartbeat. I tend to get some really sick days and other days I'm ok. I hope all is ok in there.

Lots of messages!
I have no new symptoms, and gassy bloated feeling easing off. Now worrying whether all is well, and trying to move my early scan to next week rather than the week after...
