Good tip for all the unwanted bump rubbers: Say "ooh, I wouldn't do that if I were you, pregnancy gives me the most awful wind"

Hobnobfanatic · 04/12/2009 14:17

Yes, Lucky C - it did make me more determined. I wasn't THAT fussed between the two. I preferred Celvapan but would have had the Pandemrix. But the more people kept saying I couldn't, the more entrenched I became, as I knew I was entitled to it!

And the belly rubber would have annoyed me too! Far from wrecking your body, having kids can boost your health! Breastfeeding, eg, can reduce your chances of getting breast cancer, and isn't there something about stem cells and giving birth...? Memory is failing me...

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/12/2009 14:58

Memorylapse - yes the arm seems to be the worst, I haven't noticed any other side effects. It has put me off giving the jab to DD though, it'd be awful for her Might change my mind if she gets offered it though.

Bump rubbers - I've never had this! Other than DH. It would really annoy me though.

mollybob · 04/12/2009 15:04

hi all -
LuckyC you really made me smile
ML glad babe is squirming now so you know it's there
Hobnob - hope you finally get sorted

I'm ok - DH is doing reasonably well (and not easy for him dealing with deranged pregnant wife!) Been a tough week as DD really poorly with viral thing and then chest infection. Sickness seemed better and then puked in the shower this morning. Have work xmas meal out tonight and would rather be home in bed watching channel4od - have been working my way through "Being Erica" - it's not amazing but it beats nothing. Have bought some wool, needles and pattern to do a patchwork blanket in white/yellow/red and green - hope it turns out bright and cheerful rather than yucky but nice colours. Haven't bought anything yet but looking at prams - never really used pram a lot as lived in country with DS and DD but now in suburbs and easy walk from corner shop and newsagent, tesco, starbucks, DD's school and a park so will probably be out more this time.
Bought new shoes at lunch too

HeffaMerryChristmas · 04/12/2009 15:11

Just showing off new Christmas nickname twirls Mollybob - what prams are you looking at? I've only ever had the one but I do love them. Glad your DH is doing OK. Hope your DD feels better soon The blanket sounds lovely.

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 17:54

Mollybob..sorry to hear your sickness stepped up again...must be a hormone surge..
I feel really sicky today..

wibblela · 04/12/2009 18:23

Hi Everybody I hope you don't mind if I join this thread? I am 17+1 weeks and have an EDD of 13 May 2010 - this is our first LO.

I have been on the May 2010 pregnancy thread and have just found this one. It seenms weird for me to think that I will actually be a Mummy next year and that this is an apt thread for me!

Not had Anamoly Scan yet, have an appointment when 21+5 weeks, so I don't have to drink so much. I have Multiple Sclerosis, and amongst other symptons are continence issues.

Haven't felt LO move yet, am so keen to feel movement I know that people say that you will wish you didn't feel movement after a while, but I am still keen.

Carikube · 04/12/2009 18:32

Welcome wibblela! I never got fed up of feeling movement when pg with dd as I always found it quite reassuring (though I think some people at work found it a bit offputting when my entire belly gave them a wave during meetings ).

Heffa love the new name... my arm is now vaguely back to normal after 4 days and I think I will finally be able to roll on to my right side in bed.

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 18:50

welcome wibblela..I can honestly say that I love feeling my babies move when Im pregnant in fact after Ive given birth..I always feel kind of strange and takes a while to get out of the habit of putting my hands on my tummy to feel it move

suey2 · 04/12/2009 20:16

hello all,

MY BABY'S OK!!!!!!!!

and

i'm

Hobnobfanatic · 04/12/2009 20:26

Congrats, Suey, excellent news - and girls are fab!

pigleychez · 04/12/2009 20:28

Suey- Thats fab news what a relief! Yay for a girl too

Lucky- Some people are just rude! Ignore him!

Wibblela- Welcome aboard

Yah... I finally felt bubba move tonight. DD was laying on my lap with her leg pushed against my stomach. Not hard but alittle pressure, anyway could feel like a little kick or something a few times, almost trying to push its sister out the way.

Had a long and emotional day with my Uncles funeral today. DD had to come too as we had no childcare but she was well behaved which was great. Feel so drained now though. Dh has gone off for a works do so im snuggling up on the sofa in my Pj's. Going to finish off the mince pies in a bit too!

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 20:33

suey thats fantastic news..and congrats on your little girl

Pigley..sounds like DC2 Is getting in some practice for annoying his/her nig sister

TomlinTowers · 04/12/2009 20:48

Suey many congrats on your news.

Welcome to Wibblela and any other newbies that have joined since I last posted!

Had the flu jab on Mondy, felt absolutely fine, but Tues and Wed, my god did my arm hurt! I was glad I had it in my left arm, I don't think I would have been able to write if I'd had it in my right arm!

I really dislike people touching my bump. When my friend was pg with her first, we were in Boots on a lunch break and a gypsy woman who used to hang around on the streets selling "lucky" heather came up to her and asked if she could feel the bump to tell the DF if she is having a boy or girl. DF said she didn't want to know and would she mind very much not touching the bump as she didn't like it, and the stupid gypsy cursed her and her baby!! It was terrible!! DF was SO upset.

Pigley - I am glad your bump looks about the same size as mine. My Mum asked today if I was having an elephant!

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 21:00

meant to say BIG..not NIG...

schipo · 04/12/2009 21:20

Fantastic news Suey and great to hear you learnt it's a girl. If we have to go through these tests then we might as well make the most out of don't you think?

I had a little cry today because I didn't any get any warning about a meeting at work Consoling myself with mince pies and ignoring the fact I've almost put on almost a stone. It's probably not a great idea but I'm too scared to stop weighing myself every morning. Just keeps on going up and up. Can't believe all you guys who haven't put on any weight.

Looking forward to our ebay-tastic romper suits arriving. We ordered some to help us visualise having someone so small around.

Welcome to the thread wibblela we have a list somewhere that you should add yourself to. It's been a bit neglected recently and there are a few new people. Also more now more baby genders to add...

itshappenedagain · 04/12/2009 21:56

suey- congrats on all being well and DD! wilol you be buying all pink or just the essentials! lol!

booboomonster · 04/12/2009 22:09

Just a quick post, sorry not to address all the posts but my eyes are starting to close with fatigue...

Suey- great news, congrats you must be made up!

Luckyc - oh my lord! I had to laugh at yr post - love your responses, sounds like neighbour is a nutter.

How's about this for food -nachos? Dh bought some home the other night and I've been fantasising ever since. Yum.

Night! X

Den26 · 04/12/2009 22:49

Hi All, thanks for posts - i'm sure i'll get over it! Seeing midwife on wed so might mention i'm feeling a bit low. Listened in with my doppler last night and the LO was kicking away which made me smile. Having weird unsettled feeling in lower abdomen today - could that be it moving? No date for 20 wk scan yet - wont be until january.

Suey - congratulations!!!

Memorylapse - i'm glad you've found somewhere else, hopefully you can get moved and settled properly - i know it must be a thought though.

Lucky - your post made me laugh, well done for holding back

MoggMum · 04/12/2009 23:56

Congrats Suey that's fantastic news - hope you can relax now and enjoy this pregnancy

Welcome Wiblela

If it's any consolation schipo I've put a few pounds on too - have never been this heavy before and it feels really strange.

Lucky your post made me laugh too. Don't people just love imparting 'advice' to us first time Mums? I know most of it is well intentioned but I do find it patronising after a while. As for touching our stomachs - it's really annoying and find myself flinching when anyone does it

Saw MW today and heard heartbeat for first time - it was lovely to have confirmation that all is well as I was beginning to wonder whether I'd just eaten too many pies and imagined the whole thing

Sweetpeasmum · 05/12/2009 00:02

Hi all, sorry for not posting for ages, I do lurk but never seem to have the time to post.

Welcome Wibblela and congrats on the great news Suey, you must be so relieved!

I love your unspoken response to your dinner companion LuckyC. I often think that we pregnant ladies are so polite to these eejits is because we are always sober. If I'd had a few glasses of wine in that situation I'd probably be quite rude and insensitive back!

Does every body else feel as though someone has stolen all the spare space in their heads? I'm sure I used to be able to do stuff but now I just seem to have meltdowns. I managed to submit my rough notes instead of the completed essay to the OU this week. Having recovered from the initial shock of the awful mark I got, realised what went wrong, sent a grovelly email to my tutor with the correct file attached I just sat here crying! What has happened to me?

DH has given me a big hug and I feel much better now but I am concerned about my judgement. Oh well, I only have to get my hair cut and make a squirrel costume for DS's nativity play tomorrow - what can possibly go wrong?

suey2 · 05/12/2009 09:24

Luckyc you really made me laugh! Your neighbours wife must have been horrified! I bet you thought of loads of digs after the event.

Pink: well, I have one dd already so I'm well set up! I will also be able to have them share a room for ages and bunk beds, which I always wanted as a kid. I always wanted a sister, too but have 3 DBS.

Welcome wilblela!

Schipo, I've only put on 2.5lb, but I was still 3/4 stone heavier after my first pg. So that makes us about equal! I certainly was not in my pre pg jeans well, ever! Also I found that bf madethings worse; I had to eat so much food to keep up the supply that I stopped losing weight. I have great plans for getting the weight off this time, though, since this will be my last.

wibblela · 05/12/2009 10:43

Thanks for all the welcomes

Just read the last couple of messages - I was obese to start with and to date have only had one top which I can no longer wear! Having said that, I've also lost weight! MW was quite happy with that as I am insulin resistant, my BP is absolutely fine and BMI was 46 in the first place! However I am at the stage where I want to show!!! I am proud of being pg, and not just fat anymore! I don't think people can notice at all

Welcome Wibbela

Suey2 - fab news, congratulations on a girl

I don't think I've put on much weight yet which is a miracle because I stuffed my face when I had MS.

Sweetpeasmum - sounds like pregnancy brain! I know exactly what you mean, it's an awful feeling. It feels like I'm constantly making really silly mistakes/forgetting obvious things, it's v.annoying. I'm going to try and make a gingerbread house today, not sure it's a good idea. Will probably end up being a gingerbread bombsite instead
