good morning all!
i know what you all mean by the house looking like a toys r us bomb has gone off. i plan on having a good clean for the next few days to get everything sorted for christmas, want to put up decorations at the weekend. it does seem that as soon as it is done then you have to start again.
had a very restless night last night and i was so tired this morning, luckly Ds let me sleep for a little longer than usual and played in his room, starting to get into the christmas spirit now tho have had songs on all morning and we have been making the last of the christmas cards for everyone.
hope everyone else is well.

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 11:20

my house is a tip too..Im trying to squeeze in making dd a costume for her school play..and working tomorrow night and all weekend...now panicking about getting sorted for christmas and moving...DH has told me that its best if I go to DM'S for a couple of days while the move goes ahead..and he is going to do all the stuff I normally do when we move, like arranging utility supplies etc

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 11:21

forgot to say..am feeling baby move properly now..last night couldnt get to sleep for the squirming sensation low down in my tummy and when I woke up this morning I felt a couple of strong kicks

pigleychez · 03/12/2009 14:56

Attempting to catch up:

ML- glad everything was fine with bubba. Im amazed at how quickly you get to see your midwife. I have booked to see my MW for my 16 week appointment and couldnt get in till im 18 weeks!
Glad you have the new house sorted.

re baby brain- I have been really accident prone lately.. Knocked over so many drinks its insane! Plus drove to my friends house and wasnt till about 15 mins into the 30min journey I realised I was heading in completely the wrong direction!

Happenedagain- Im sure your mum will come round to the idea soon enough, shes just worried about you.

Pamlet- glad the move went well and hope you are all settled in soon.

Hollyoaks- Your trip away sounds lovely!

Re boobs- Mine dont hurt but my nipples are so erect constantly! DH calls them my Porn star boobs! Looks hideous if im wearing a tight top.

Mollybob- Hope DH gets the help he needs.

Suey- rest up and fingers crossed for the results.

I naughtly tucked into a McDonalds for lunch yesterday. It was my treat for finishing all the xmas shopping! I did have a milkshake which was bit naughty but ive been craving one for ages. I had loads when preg with DD as I didnt know you werent meant to then.

on feeling movements. I havent really felt a thing. A few weeks ago I thought I felt a flutter but nothing since. Unless it moves when im sleeping-- not even a bomb would wake me at the mo!

Carikube · 03/12/2009 16:22

Pigley I'm very of you having finished the xmas shopping - I've still got loads to do (big family!) and I just can't get any enthusiasm together for it.

Just had my MW appt; I know that you don't see them as often in second + pregnancies but I was a bit surprised that I don't have to go back until I'm 28 weeks... (I'm 17 wks tomorrow). At least she's already made my appt at the hospital for my anti-D injection as it might be a bit difficult if I'd waited until the 28-wk appt.

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 17:24

pigley...my appts are at the hospital and because Im high risk, Im seen every two weeks and in between the MW has a drop in clinic for worried mums(like me!!)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/12/2009 18:46

Pigley, hows your bump coming along? I remember you saying it was big a few weeks ago, is it still growing at a rate of knots?

I saw a lady today with a bloomin ENORMOUS bump, she must have been full term and it was proper beachball like. I was half envious (being overweight I don't really get a proper round bump I just look super-huge) and half scared! I can feel the mini-bump clearly up to about an inch below my belly button.

Oops, dinner calling, back later.x

tiggsy · 03/12/2009 20:13

pigleychez i'm like you, pretty sure i felt fluttering a few weeks ago but now nothing, keep thinking it's since i had my sf vaccine

Anyway, need a bit of help. I know it's completely off topic but we have no central heating in our house, just night storage, and dd's little bedroom gets so cold at night. Was wondering if anyone could suggest a quiet little heater. Her room is pretty small, about the width of a double bed! So don't need too much heat, just something to take chill off

xx

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 21:20

tiggsy..how about a small oil filled radiator?/ you can get mini ones and they dont cost a fortune to run like convector or fan heaters

pigleychez · 03/12/2009 21:28

James- Yes its still growing. Thankfully not quite so rapidly but growing still the same.
Ive just put a picture on my profile of my 16 week bump.

Tiggsy- We only had electric heaters in our old house. DDs room had a small panel heater on the wall which we found was ample to keep her room toasty. Like this : heater

sweetkitty · 03/12/2009 21:38

hi ladies I had my SF vaccine today so now feel like I have been punched in the arm, I haven't felt much movement for a few days either, I remember feeling a lot more with DD2 and 3

SPD not too bad think I am trying to not walk unless necessary and not sit too long, heartburn/acid reflux horrid though have already resorted to Zantac.

Re bumps - the DDs were saying how I am getting a huge bump so we had to look at my bump pictures with all of them, DD1s was a little bump, DD2 absolutely huge at 40 weeks and she was 9lbs 3ozs, I was in size 10 jeans the day after she was born so as you can imagine it was all bump, scary to look at how can your skin stretch that much, may put some pics up on my profile, DD3 was a big bump too

tiggsy - no idea re heaters sorry, maybe ask in more general MN

I have been doing some Christmas cleaning tonight, I do what we call treasure hunt which means I separate the corner sofa and pull it out and vacuum behind it, of course we find all sorts under it having DC, tonights treasures were amongst other things, hair clips, book, lego, 10p, a dead spider (!) pmsl almost feel ready to get the tree up on Saturday

ML - yey on the house, is it a secure long term let them, put your mind at ease? I feel so sorry for this new baby not only does it not have a nursery or a cot, it doesn't even have anywhere for it's clothes yet, we have 3 bedrooms are are very cramped and are in need of building an extension but you know how long that takes and how much hassle!

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 21:46

Sweetkitty..when I had dd1, I lived in lodgings so dd slept in a crib on the floor next to my bed..she didnt notice the lack of nursery, etc..you will worry about it more than new baby...I know its hard because you wont everything to be perfect..but Im sure it will work out..we have nowhere in our new house for new baby to go..but Im sure it wont mind as long as its got a comfy moses basket

yep the new house is a long term lease..its on rightmove ill pop a link up..its owned by the company and has a covenent on that it must be always rented.

think I might pop a pic of my 18 week bump on my profile

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 21:50

hmm..cant seem to copy the link..it fills the page with stuff when I paste it

sweetkitty · 03/12/2009 21:59

ML - that's great about the lease, means you don't have to worry about this happening again, once you are moved and settled it will be fine I am sure. You are right about the baby too, you think with your first that you must have all the coordinated nursery items and in reality the baby doesn't care. DD1 had a beautiful antique swinging crib with matching drapes and matching everything right down to changing mat and liner (!), towels, top and tail bowl and TBH it was all a waste of money she coslept with us so never slept in the crib and we sold it. Still have the moses basket it will be onto it's 4th baby so done well. But I think you must buy all the stuff with a first baby it's the law I do fancy some new things though and once we know the sex for sure will knit a wee blanket (pink wool!)

memorylapse · 03/12/2009 22:08

thats reminded me..top and tail bowls..they seem to be a complete waste of money..I never used mine

Hobnobfanatic · 04/12/2009 09:49

Lots of people say top-and-tail bowls are a waste - but, six years on, I still have mine and use it in the bathroom for all my daughter's toiletry bits...!

suey2 · 04/12/2009 10:09

morning all!
I used my top and tail bowl a lot! I think it is because i had a night nanny and she got me into it.

On tenterhooks today. fingers crossed emoticon

schipo · 04/12/2009 10:24

I just had to use google to find out what a top and tail bowl is. After hearing hb again with mw on Monday I have bought a couple of things though.

Suey, fingers very much crossed for you. I got my call before nine am on the third day. Hope you can rest today too.

Love the bump pictures btw. Haven't got any of mine yet but will fix that this weekend.

LuckyC · 04/12/2009 11:01

Hello all. I am sorry that I have not been around much - been reading to catch up and some of these comments might be a bit out of date! Life is moving way too fast for me at the moment.

Booboomonster - at the Pandemrix/ Pandemic thing - it IS a bad name.

Hobnob - sorry you are having to battle with them for the Celvapan. Doesn't it just make you EVEN MORE DETERMINED TO GET WHAT YOU WANT???? Do not understand why some places are so obstructive.

I went in and asked for SF jab pre trip home to Zim next Thurs, and they refused me as I am under 20 weeks. Rather cravenly I accepted that fine, as it means I can just delay my decision about what to do for a while.

Mollybob - how are you today? It's all a bit overwhelming at times and you have a lot to contend with. I have a friend with bipolar and it can be really painful watching him struggle with it. Come and find support here any time. You're doing really well.

itshappened again - how do you sound so calm? Can you give me lessons?

OK that was from your first post - just read your second post and heard what your mum and LOs dad said. They are worried for you, sure - but ignore 'em! Look, as you see, you are already in huge demand as teacher of calm in pregnancy. You sound like you must be a fantastic mum.

Hi morph2 and I second MoggMum's welcome.

Suey, thinking of you - good luck.

deranged rant alert:

Had dinner with some really sweet and well-meaning neighbours last night, but this guy (who is a community nurse) went on and on about how my life will be over when we have the baby, and how pregnancy absolutely destroys your body, and (in a weird joke) about how 'it's either a baby or a lizard' while patting my belly.

I laughed politely and did not say the following things.

  1. Do not FUCKING touch my stomach without my express invitation.
  1. Pregnancy does not 'ruin your body'. Mothers of MORE than one child have gone on to break Olympic records, go to space, run FTSE businesses, etc etc.
  1. You life might be over. Mine will not be. It will just be different. Also see point 2 above.
  1. Medical hint for you: Don't tell a pregnant woman prone to very vivid dreams she is going to give birth to a lizard. And, if I AM actually carring a lizard, and not a baby, I am sure my lizard and your frankly reptilian-looking toddler will get on well.

Rant over.

Ahhhhhh, I feel better....

AnAngelWithin · 04/12/2009 11:16

ah luckyc. You did well to hold it back!! bless ya!

today i feel really tired. DD2 is draining me today. I want, i want all the time. She's been awful lately. Also having an eating day. Though I still haven't put any weight on, I have developed a fair bump! DH thinks its great lol.

Today is also the start of DHs very long christmas working hours. He won't be home til after 10 most nights, with only one day a week off. Groan. Might clean my oven tonight

Top and tail bowls. Well, I bought one with all of the dcs up to now, used it for a couple of weeks but thats it. Not sure why I kept buying them!

ML fingers crossed for you now with the lease!!

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 11:26

lol..I must be the only one who didnt use my top and tail bowl!

Luckyc..well done for practicing restraint..I personaklly wouldnt have been able to..he would have been walking home like John Wayne

and why do people think they can touch your belly??[angry}..would they do it if you werent pregnant?? noo! so why now..grrr

well we have signed the application forms and paid our fee, we just need to wait for the application to go through then we can rent the other house.

DD2 was awake all night coughing and has a temperature..

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/12/2009 12:33

Argh! My arm is still sore from the jab, it's more painful now than it was yesterday

Memorylapse - hope your DD is OK and good luck with the application going through

Top and tail bowls - we never had one, we did use a baby bath though. It cost a tenner, we used to put it in the bath so it wasn't a hassle to move but saved water since we didn't have to fill up the whole thing. Now she's outgrown it, I put it out in the garden over the summer so DD can splash around with it (she has a paddling pool but doesn't always like being in it).

LuckyC - how did you not punch him? People like that really wind me up.

Suey2 - good luck for the results today.

I'm really craving Nandos now Probably won't be able to get one until we go for the next scan. I did have two yummy hotdogs at the Edwardian Evening last night (our small town's themed late night shopping event - lots of fun).

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 12:53

TCH..the horrible sore arm seens to be the main unpleasent symptom..hope it goes away soon.

DD has made a miraculous recovery and is currently jumping around on her dance mat

itshappenedagain · 04/12/2009 13:01

hello all! having a bit of peace for 5 mins after dropping Ds off at nursery.

ML- glad that you finally have a house to move to.
LuckyC- i have no choice but to stay calm...my mum has already said she would always support any decision i made even if she didnt like it...plus she has to love me the most im her PFB and the only girl! she will come around the same as she did with DS. And i also have Ds to consider if i paniced at everything then i would be a terrible mother...instead i just rry to ignore most of it and occasionally have a moan on here or to friends!

i really want to paint the walls but im not allowed until febuary as the plaster has to be completely dry after ahving to have a damp course done. will be getting my tree tomorrow so am very excited about getting the house all ready for christmas. Have nearly completed my deep clean...had to start downstairs as that is where the mess was after the builders!

baby not moved much today or last night, but probably due to change in position.
have had to tell the place where i do my voluntry work as i lift things and move things about if necessary, although am still trying to keep it to as little amount of people knowing as possible till after my 20 (22)week scan at the end of the month.
during the claer out of my room i found all Ds first things and his christening outfit...brought back such lovely memories, and only made me more determined to do this even if it is alone.

is anyone else puttuing off wearing maternity clothes for as long as possible? im managing on 2 pairs of jeans (last ones i can fit in) and leggings and tunic tops atm.

hope all are well its amazing how quickly this time is flying by!

itshappenedagain · 04/12/2009 13:03

luckyC- forgot to say i wouldnt have been as restrained as you...i would have just spoke my mind and possibly not massaged his ego with his shit theory and told him to keep his opinions to himself!...you can always blame the hormones dor outbursts! lol!
