Whoaaaaaaa! Livin' on a prayer!

Heh, couldn't resist. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow so, yes, very nearly halfway there...

Hope everyone has a good weekend - going to the dogs tonight (racing, that is, not, y'know letting myself go)

Caitni · 10/10/2009 12:56

Thanks for starting the new thread annamamma!

Just posting to get it on threads I'm on. Now off to read the last thread properly and catch up with everyone's news

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Went to an NCT nearly new sale this morning and picked up some bargains. Think I'm ready to start baby shopping properly now

[Waves to everyone and wanders off rocking out to Bon Jovi]

TMD · 10/10/2009 13:11

Ohh this is all very technical for a newbie!
Hope your all ok. I have nausea today, and pain in my left side, think I may have done something in my sleep last night. How are you all?
x

Nice one Annamama. just bookmarking and off to prep Sunday School / Read New Dan Brown!

MummyElk · 10/10/2009 15:55

afternoon all, just bookmarking etc and checking in.
DH and I can't think of a spooky mummyelk name...

I outed myself on fbk yesterday which was quite nice, there were enough people who didn't know to get some nice reaction!

Wine drinking: I'm up for it. Having said that i get halfway through a glass and lose interest (which is clever of my body i think, considering i generally do show alcoholic thirsty tendencies). I AM enjoying Becks Blue, yet again...quite liked it last time too (and it's not just alcohol free, it's therefore guilt free! brilliant). Not generally a beer drinker either so bit odd.

TMD was it you saying about the funny turn? Can't offer much advice but big sympathy, had similar turns last time round with my 1st pg, my mw put it down to the baby just suddenly surging with a need from you, and of course your body reacts accordingly. you could always call mw and ask her? Anyway hope you feel better this wknd.

Crikey. sorry for long post! It's not even an interesting one!!

Am not an ACI widow this wknd - DH just found some 2020 cricket shite tournament so cricket widow instead! poor mummyelk.

MandaHugNKill · 10/10/2009 16:04

Hey, mummyelk consider TheMummyelk... I'm sure you'll do the universal studio monster justice

All this talk of Bon Jovi is making me very nostalgic for my uni days and an 80s club night my friends and I would be at every Sat without fail. Am still a bit of an 80s rock and cheese chick Tbh. Was thinking of taking Ds to "Baby Loves Disco" at the Clapham Grand. Has anyone ever been? (Or am I the saddest person on this thread by some way?) Sure there'd be no £1 vodka & lime shots but I'm a cheap date nowadays after 2 1/2 years of pregnancy and breastfeeding so that'd be no bad thing.

ScarySarah, your MIL sounds like just the sort of person you don't need to spend too much time around at the moment. I mean, just because she obviously thinks she couldn't cope in your situation why on earth should she be so negative about your coping skills? I bet you'll do just fine. Everything about having children makes me realise that it's possible to cope with a great deal more than you ever thought possible beforehand.

That's really bad, Rindercella! Did she know that it was your due date if she arranged it? Even if it's three days before, you're not very likely to want to travel 100 miles, are you? If I were you, I would let her know why you can't go when you RSVP, because then she'll have a reason, and it won't look funny that you're turning her down!
We're back from Birmingham now - DD1 is grumpy and tired after a day of dancing, and DD2 is grumpy and tired after a day of. . .shopping! I'm grumpy and tired, but then I'm pregnant, so it's allowed !
I can't remember who was asking about celebrating Halloween? We always have a couple of marquees in the garden, and decorate it so it's really halloweeny (bats and cobwebs etc) and the DCs invite all their friends, and we invite all of ours, and everybody does apple bobbing and pumpkin carving, and a disco. It's really good fun!
TMD, I always had funny turns with DS, but never with either of the DSs, and not this time either - maybe it's a sign!

scooby26 · 10/10/2009 19:24

Hi All

Rebecca - glad you've found out what the problem is and it's nothing to worry about.

Rindercella - Wow - can't believe your sis has arranged a wedding for around your due date!!!! Tell me she didn't know when she arranged it!! That would be serious family fall out for me cos I just wouldnt go away from home that close to due date - only exception being if he/she came really really early and all over by then!!

My SIL has just arranged her wedding. We got married 2 years ago and she has arranged hers for the same venue and on my DH bday. It's not like theres not hundreds of days in a year or tens of venues!! Can't think why you'd wanna get married at same place as your bro when 50% guests will be the same!!! Families eh!! Guess it's a compliment ours was ok!!

Got our scan in just over a week and 19 weeks today. Still haven't decided for sure as to whether to find out for just the two of us. Not wholly convinced DH would be able to keep a secret!!

Ordered nursey furniture. Wasn't going to do it as it's still early days and can't even feel flump moving around yet despite being 19 weeks but it's 50% off at mamas and papas so done the deal as what we save will buy lots of nice cute other things!!! Still - can always cancel order if things aren't positive next week for any reason. Not being negative just I know lots of people who have sadly been in that position and trying to be realistic until we have seen flump again. Don't wanna get our hopes up until after next week.

Vedging in front of tv thinking about tea, X factor and small glass of red. Home alone as DH out at work til midnight. AAAh peace!! Hope you all have fab weekend.xx

scarysarahandco · 10/10/2009 23:10

oooo[pppppppsssss i only pressed once!!!! clearly i meant what i said!!!!

TMD · 11/10/2009 08:19

Rindercella that was soooo considerate of your sis.! Clearly she wasn't thinking? But hey don't take it to heart. You are doing one of the most wonderful things any mom could and thats bringing another little bundle joy into the world. Her time will come.

We have a similar predicament. We have been asked to be god parents on the 20th feb and my due date is 4th march 2010. I just hope the font is big enough for emergencies!!!! I was induced early with my first so who knows!!!!

Got my scan 1wk monday. Getting pretty big now but only put on 7lb in the last 19weeks? does anyone else feel their tummy expanding it's a strange feeling, and uncomfy!

catch you all soon
xxx

Hey mummyelk I'm with you on the alcohol in moderation thing. I had 2 (!) small glasses of Bucks Fizz last night. Boy did it feel good.

I've also had this weird experience this week of my bump suddenly appearing with a venegance. I had a little bump and now all of a sudden it has made itself very obvious.

Loving it!!!!

TheMummyonElkStreet · 11/10/2009 15:35

hello everyone!!
I took Manda's advice and sort of found a halloweeny name...

Today we washed the car. How very surburban of us! I'm sure at our wedding I more or less said "I promise never to wash the car on a sunday like every other boringperson on our street" but still, here we are a few years on breaking out number one rule, and it was quite satisfying...

Speaking of weddings - rindercella your sister is clearly a numpty!! And a selfish one at that!! I think you have two options - tip up and hope your waters break at a significant moment, or keep a dignified silence from the distance of your home, together with your lovely DH and your DD! Families are so flipping annoying aren't they , mine drive me bonkers on a regular basis!

Right lamb shanks in the oven have to do some cooking. Liar liar on the box making us all laugh!!

Glad i'm not the only one on the booze!

EmLouT · 11/10/2009 18:52

It's another boy - I was sure it would be but it is lovely to know! Feel much better now that I have had my scan and it appears as though the placenta is anterior (laying between the baby and my abdomen) which is not a complication in itself and explains why I haven't felt the baby move much really - basically there is another three inches for any movement to be felt through so I may not feel anything for weeks.

DH just gone to the Ukraine for a few days for work and DS just gone to bed so I am feeling a little bit weepy and lonely - anybody else gone all pathetic and unkeen to be alone?

TheMummyonElkStreet · 11/10/2009 19:21

Yes emlou definitely!! we babysat on friday night, took Dd with us to sleep in a travel cot so we'd have a night together...then our friends offered us the option of staying over, so we could go to bed when we wanted (rather than when they got back) and i just couldn't face it!! love my friends to pieces but just needed wanted to be in my own bed!!! really weird sensation... so yes i'm with you, am not liking being alone or out of my comfort zone One Little Bit!!! CONGRATS on it being a boy though, great news and glad the scan went ok. If there's any chocolate in the house then maybe that's the way forward

EmLouT · 11/10/2009 19:47

Thanks MummyonElk - glad I'm not the only one! Currently watching crap movie - seems to help! Do have some ginger chocolate (strictly for relieving morning sickness you understand) so maybe I will raid that!

TheMummyonElkStreet · 11/10/2009 22:09

what's the deal with name changing pls? is the protocol to change it inbetween posting on other threads? only, just realised, have been posting on other threads as halloweeny name...not sure it's quite the ticket?!!!
tell me oh wise MN gurus

Caitni · 11/10/2009 22:16

Evening ladies

Phew, just finishing dealing with the ironing mountain that had built up chez caitni - worked up quite a sweat but at least it meant guilt-free telly watching

EmLouT a baby boy - congrats!! I think the tally of boys is higher than girls at the moment. And totally with you on the weepiness...I get inexplicably upset by little things...and bawled my way through Up last night (silently, except for noisy nose-blowing, since I was at the cinema and all ).

Rindercella totally shocked at your sister - er, what is she thinking? I think you should take a raincheck on the wedding, along with your DH and DD and either enjoy the last days before becoming a family of four or make the most of the early days (if you go early).

Anna I think you're off to the States now so if so hope you're having a lovely time in Florida

Am loving all the Halloween-y names . I'm rubbish at thinking up funny names so shall keep my boring moniker
