Mama2b5- I'm watching that too - it gives me nightmares, helped along by all those pregnancy hormones, but I have to know what happens next. DH is convinced that we are going to have to wait for at least another series to find out!

alibobins - hope all your test results come back fine -I am sure you will be fine, even if you have to rest until January.

I'm off to the hospital tomorrow to see my Consultant - finally. Its only taken 20 weeks to get the appointment, last time I was hauled off to the hospital at 12, 24, 30, 36 and 38 weeks and I had the most normal pregnancy in the world. This time, when I actually want/need to see a Consultant, I've had to nag almost weekly for an appointment! Hopefully I will come back with a date for delivery of this baby. I might actually begin to feel some urgency to get things sorted then!

Hope everyone is well and blooming - I've only got 5 1/2 weeks at work now and counting. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to not having to get up in the mornings! I had a small incident in my car last week, I reversed into a pole which is going to cost £800 to repair because I was so tired. I think I will hibernate until January!

Mama2b5 · 12/10/2009 23:16

ahhhh FF im loving it, whilst the other DC sleep me and DD watched that and fringe - she aint scared of nothing! shes gone to bed know, me soon to have very early start ahhhhhhh roll on AL! trying to work out when to take it, to get the best out of it and then maybe go on ML!
good luck on the consultant meeting tomo! hope you get answers you want!DOB for DB lucky you i think my DH will have me on lock down come jan! ah bless him he is so cute when he fusses! its like his protection -me -man clicks in and what he says now goes! was told to rest while he cooked dinner tonite wonderful! luv it!
good nite all - i want to have toilet runs to just 1 tonite!

timmette · 13/10/2009 08:02

bethoo · 13/10/2009 09:59

morning all, when i say diet i mean healthy eating since a diet of Galaxy cookie crumble chocolate, big macs, coke and crisps is not the most nutritious menu! i kid you not a chocolate bar, bag of crisps and a bottle of coke has been all i have been eating mornign noon and night and has all laid to rest on my thighs and arse! hence pasta last night and banned coke and crap from the house! i look huge! my belly is just sticking out the front, it gets throug hthe door five minutes before i do!
trying not to panic about hte birth as i will have moved in with dp who lives 5 miles from here and i have ot work around my own cm arrangements half the time! i dont really talk much ot the ladies from creche as we just hang around silently then shuffle our kids in and go our separate ways. it is hard to ask other friends as they work or have small children of hteir own. but i am not panicking just yet, it will prob hit me when i go into spontaneous labour and my labour bag once again not packed! lol
when i went into labour hte secoind time i was trying to put on my touche eclait and mascara! needless to say i still looked like shit! htat was a nightmare as dps phone was accidently switched off, called a mad neighbour who looked after ds then gave him ot another friend later that evening and the neighbour drove me to hospital! my labour bag was missing virtually everything apart from make up!
hope everyone else is well and alibobins proteins in wee often means a UTI? i think it does and you may end up on amoxiccilin for it like i was.

somewhathorrified · 13/10/2009 10:21

bethoo good point about the over consumption of junk/comfort food. I still think completely cutting out said food would make me sad. But it's what makes you happy and comfortable that counts.

devotion I have to say I was completely horrified when the MW told me about the single pair of MW's on call at any one time. Her example was that there are 5 HB's booked in (ready to birth) atm and that is was unlikely they'd all get a HB because of it. What makes me laugh is that "free birth" is perfectly legal as long as no-one helps (e.g. DH). Found out that one DH got criminally prosecuted for 'helping' as he was unqualified...how fucked up is that! I still refuse to go to hospital unless there's something wrong, MW or no MW.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 13/10/2009 10:28

You are KIDDING? So - if your DH delivers your baby (planned vs unplanned) it's illegal??!! That is v v v v v v v fucked up! Can't believe it.

God - its enough to make you want to do it just to shove two fingers up to the justice system isn't it?

Well, SWH, perhaps you just stay at home, put the call in to MW and if they tell you to go to hospital, you have to retalitate that you can't possibly move - that way you accidentally give birth at home. Bloody hell!

somewhathorrified · 13/10/2009 10:55

http://www.homebirth.org.uk/law.htm

ctoafn tell me about it! It's only illegal if the husband plans to be there instead of a MW, but still, wtf! What business is it of the establishment if you want to have no outside intervention in the birth of your child...after all it's a natural process, we're not ill!

somewhathorrified · 13/10/2009 10:56

er..ok so that link thing didn't work

timmette · 13/10/2009 10:57

somewhathorrified I was also told this when pregnant with ds - that althought they had agreed to a homebirth they might not be able to come out - so I said well what happens if I can't get in to hospital and then they said they would have to send a midwife - I think they didn't want homebirths. 10 people could be due on your due date and not one might end up giving birth then - I think you will be ok.

You can always call an ambulance in an emergency and they will tell your dh how to deliver etc.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 13/10/2009 11:21

Still f*cked up isn't it.

Remember I got a groin strain back in August after slipping down stairs? The hospital apparently were referring me for physio - and 8 weeks on, I've heard not a jot so chased them today. V apologetic, original referral must have been lost in the transfer between floors of the hospital etc.

BUT - I was very impressed when 20 minutes late I received a call direct from physio department offering me an appointment for tomorrow!

So - after thinking - "f*ckwits" etc - have been turned around and now think, wow, great service !!

somewhathorrified · 13/10/2009 11:43

ctoafn glad that you finally got your appointment, but seriously how incompetent are hospitals are turning out to be with losing info!

FakePlasticTrees · 13/10/2009 13:36

Hello! I've name changed - this is Dizzyclarebear but decided a new name was in order!

Soo much happening - I'm moving house next week - eek! Haven't packed yet - double eek! but have just spoken to the new midwife down in Sevenoaks (where I'm moving to) and she seems lovely and has booked me in for an appointment on Thursday to sort out getting all my paperwork moved from SE London to Sevenoaks.

Fifi - you only have 5 1/2 weeks left at work? Wow! I'm not going off until 16th December (due 6th Jan) Kind of think that's late but wanted to keep as much time off when baby's arrived...

How far in advance is everyone else going off work?

FlightofFancy · 13/10/2009 14:08

Well, I've just agreed to finish at Christmas, so sometime 21st-24th December (depending on when I get a couple of projects done). I'm not due until c. 23rd Jan, so was actually planning to work a week or so after Christmas (desk job, can work-from-home to avoid commute, pregnancy easy so far (touches wood)), but HR have a ridiculously complicated set of rules on how you take outstanding holiday/accrued bank holidays etc - so even though I'm coming back to work in October/November next year (when paid maternity leave runs out) I have to take at least 10 days holiday in January - and I can't officially start my mat leave after my EDD (even though I'd be on annual leave so not actually in the office!).
None-the-less, that does only mean 10 more Monday mornings!

Otherwise, am really enjoying being pregnant at the moment (sorry, trying not to sound smug) - junior is kicking quite a bit now and not yet big enough to feel clumsy etc. Did brave NCT sale last weekend so actually have bought a few bits and bobs, and cleared out a shelf of a cupboard to keep them on... just got to arrange to collect stuff friends are giving us over the next couple of months!

FifiForgot · 13/10/2009 18:59

FPT - the only reason I'm finishing so soon is because I have a whole years worth of leave to use before I start ML, our leave year runs September to August and I can only carry 5 days into the next leave year. So I'm having 8 weeks off before ML which is starting the day before the baby is being delivered. Good luck with your move, let the removal men do all the work!

FoF - I don't think you can delay the start of ML, it is triggered by the birth of your baby. Last time round I cut it very fine and ended up on leave until my due date. When I asked about DD arriving early, I was told that I would loose any leave that I hadn't taken as ML had to start when the baby arrived.

I saw my lovely consultant today. He was quite happy to support me considering my last experience, so my delivery is all booked for 18 or 19 January by elective section. I am very relieved that its all agreed, I was having visions of arguing with a Registrar about why I wanted a c-section. So 13 weeks today I'll be a Mummy again - how scary is that?!

sazlocks · 13/10/2009 20:17

fifi that is scary - can't believe its all going so quickly for us.
I am loving my bump at the moment and agree with you flightof that its a good stage.

I finish on 18th December and cos I am part time that means I officially have 30 working days left YAY !

alibobins · 13/10/2009 20:25

Hi all thanks for all well wishes
Got midwife again in the morning to check up on blood pressure and urine.
Was planning on working till end of November but midwife has suggested finishing end of October.

devotion · 13/10/2009 22:43

alibobins - goodluck and fingers crossed for you. i had to send mine off can not remember now but think i was about 17 weeks? i had a terrible headache, high bp and small trace of protein in urine but all was fine and a few days later i was checked again and all was clear. so hopefully the same for you x

whats this fast forward? not heard of it and it sounds juicy so tell me?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 14/10/2009 08:51

Morning all - urgh, feeling absolutely wretched today. Groin strain agony - has got progressively worse over past few weeks but yesterday and today horrid horrid horrid. Woke up in pain, had headache, took paracetemol, had shower, got out of shower, had horrid pain at top of bump and then retched and retched for about 10 minutes - which made the pain even worse. Then sat down and nearly passed out, so feet up on sofa while I lay on the floor!

Luckily DH working from home so he took kids to school and I'm off to hospital in about 10 minutes for an ECG re the fainting stuff (will be normal!) and physio - think I may call into Maternity Day Unit whilst I'm there as I really feel awful .

Hope everyone else ok today

timmette · 14/10/2009 08:56

Hi everyone! I haven't posted on here for a while. fakeplastictrees I am due Jan 10th and wanted to pick your brains and say hi! I am moving - in three weeks from NW London to Staplehurst in Kent and am totally confused about how to move my maternity care! Have you decided on a hospital?
thanks! and hope you are all feeling OK- My baby keeps getting in the most awkward positions and sleep is now a precious commodity - as the book says its "preparing me for the sleepless nights of motherhood" - !!!! I wish I could just get some sleep now and be UN-prepared! x

CantThinkofFunnyName · 14/10/2009 12:14

Hello again - well groin strain it is NOT, SPD it is. Right side of pelvis had moved up and to the right by 1 cm!!!! That's quite a lot isn't it?

So the lovely physio I had shifted it back down again - as much as she could anyway - I can tell you I yelped.

Now complete with belt, lots of instructions about what I can and can't do and a very sympathetic husband who has ordered "I sit on my backside and do nothing for the next 10 weeks" !!

Now - off to find a cleaner...

shinybaubles · 14/10/2009 13:33

Glad you're getting the help you need CTOFN.

Welcome MrsJammi

shinybaubles · 14/10/2009 13:34

That's me by the way Timmette - I have name changed as feeling very festive and full of cold - lol.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 14/10/2009 13:47

Shinybaubles - LOL hello Timmette!!!! Hope you feel better soon too. Silly question, but have you tried boiling hot bowl of water, a little bit of Vics Vapourrub in it and head over with a towel?
