OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
shinybaubles · 14/10/2009 13:53

CTOFN not a silly question I haven't tried it - although my sis did suggest it also - but it all seemed like to much effort . However if still feeling like this this evening will give it a try after ds goes to bed.

alibobins · 14/10/2009 13:54

Afternoon ladies
Blood pressure still raised still got a trace of protein but she said she's not worried and just to take it easy so I'm staying off work the rest of the week.
Got to be checked again friday.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 14/10/2009 13:57

Ali - that's really positive news - and to get to take it easy for rest of week - woohoo !

Shiny - it's really a good idea, the only decongestant us pg ladies can really do .

CantThinkofFunnyName · 14/10/2009 13:57

PS - have now booked a cleaner every Friday morning for 3 hours - woohoo some more !!!

alibobins · 14/10/2009 15:36

a cleaner sounds really tempting
Don't think Dh would be too happy lol

somewhathorrified · 14/10/2009 15:57

Best decongestant I've had is a hot chilli and we're still allowed them...er....I think. Nothing like chilli to clear the passages!

Fraochsmum · 14/10/2009 17:05

Hello everyone, love the idea of namechanging to suit the mood btw!
Omg CTOFN, SPD and you had to wait all that time! A least it is being sorted now and hoefully you feel much better. Was going to say that a cleaner sounds great, but must admit that DP is the neat and tidy one out of us!
Sorry to hear about everyone else who is ill/has ill children/having trouble sleeping x
Had my 28 wk app this morning which went very well; my bp the usual low (100/60), baby's heartbeat was good and strong, and he was bang on correct size! Was in great order too because she couldn't make out how he was lying "because of my very good stomach muscles" - yaaaaassss! Was great, she asked if I had been a dancer, mw who takes aquanatal also asked this! I just said yes, carefully ommiting that I stopped highland dancing when I was 15yo. What? It's a need to know basis...
Did nearly hit the roof when she put her finger in my belly button though - it's where my only varicose vein so far is nestled. DP thought I was going to hit her, not quite, but it is very sensitive!
Good news is that she doesn't want to see me again for another 4 weeks (usually every 2 from now on for us) unless I have any bother.
Mat leave - I have now decided to take it on the 4th Jan (due 6th) for both my pt jobs. Because of holidays, I finish the easy desk job on 23rd Dec, and finish the stressful/much travelling one at the start of Dec - yipeeee!!!!

devotion · 14/10/2009 17:57

rostbeef - i moved to a new area when 7mths pregnant with dd1 and i just found a local gp, he asked which hospital i wanted so i told him my most local one and at first he said that was not possible and that i would need to go to one that was much further away.

i remember saying, that when i went into labour i would be going to that one and not travelling to a further one, in the end he let me have my own way

i kept my hospital notes from my previous ones and they just inserted their version inside them.

so all quite straightforward. i also came on here and asked about peoples experiences at the new hospital which thankfully were all positive. i actually read that thread recently and it was from 2002 under another name of course! i love reading my old threads, some i cringe at and others are funny.

goodluck with the move and dont worry it should all be quite straightforward.

x

crumpette · 14/10/2009 19:24

timmette I haven't been on here in a couple days sorry! Ginger choc biscuits mostly purchased from M&S they are ginger biscuits coated in dark choc, also there's a nearby health food place which sells lots of biscuits !!! and has some green & blacks nice choc ginger ones too

om nom nom

anyway no news for me, was horrified that my (topshop maternity) trousers had shrunk in the wash this morning, cursed their lack of washability, then realised they may not have shrunk at all I even tried protesting that the legs had got shorter but had to admit that no, the legs have not got shorter.... nor have I got taller.... sigh

trying to work out when to go on maternity leave.. I have 3 weeks annual leave to take, don't really want to take it and be forced to lose my annual leave by giving birth before maternity leave actually starts, I'd rather have a good 3 weeks out of my work on full pay thank you very much DP useless and has no opinion on whether I should bear in mind the 37 week induction threat from the consultant or ignore it and take maternity leave from start of january instead, he just says this is an example of me being incapable of making a decision ![outraged face]

crumpette · 14/10/2009 19:27

just realised how many s etc my post is littered with...

eek !!!

I will start saying smile in real life instead of doing it soon.. I also referred to DP as DP at work the other day, how sad is that!? colleague looked surprised and said, I thought his name is R*... !

FifiForgot · 14/10/2009 19:39

shinybaubles - me too, I feel awful and would give anything for a Lemsip! I asked my midwife if there was anything I could take when I had this a few weeks ago and she said paracetamol. I think I might have a honey and lemon with a (very small) shot of whisky, anything to help me sleep.

CToFN - glad you are being sorted.

Alibobins - glad all is ok - just take it easy for the rest of the week.

crumpette - can you ask your consultant if he really means 37 weeks before you make a decision? Perhaps your midwife can throw some light on the subject. If it makes you feel any better, I am useless at making decisions and its worse when I'm pregnant - it drives DH mad!

Welcome mrsjammi

shinybaubles · 15/10/2009 08:31

Thanks Crumpette will be back in the UK in a few weeks and will make M&S my first stop.

somewhathorrified I love my spicy food but the heartburn/acid reflux has put a temporary stop to that.

Fififorgot I'll ask my gynae tomorrow they are a bit more relaxed about pregnancy here - I might get a different answer - well it's worth asking.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 15/10/2009 10:36

Morning lovely ladies - glad everyone appearing well (ish) today! Not much to say from here, 28 wk mw appointment later today where they will take bloods and check for anaemia etc, I'll probably have a bit of a moan about SPD as v v painful now - suddenly kicked in big time and limited as to what can be done other than belt, painkillers and physio (plus being v careful about what positions I get myself into).

Anyway - feeling upbeat today

Post later!

sockmonkey · 15/10/2009 10:44

Very proud of baby who kicked Daddy in the head last night while he was laying across my knee. .
Just got back from DS1's class assembly. His teacher from last year was there. She starts her maternity leave soon. We used to compare bumps on a morning last year. Will miss her. (bit of bump envy though... she looks smaller than me even though she is about a month ahead)

bethoo · 15/10/2009 11:26

hello ladies, the weather is certainly brisk here and i refuse to buy a maternity coat so i am freezing!!! so lots of layers for me!
i cant beleive how fast it is going this time!
my healthy eating is going well, had 2 plums and 4 nectarines but my work mate has just told me she has some sort of cake in her office! so trying not to succumb even though i am bloody starving!!
hope everyone is well and kiddies are well too, i took lemsip when pregannt before as thought it was just paracetamol in it?

rostbeef · 15/10/2009 11:52

Thanks devotion What is it about pregnancy that makes tasks that would I would normally take in my stride seem worrysome!?

bethoo · 15/10/2009 14:00

aargggggggggh is it just me who has backache? i hope this is a temporary set back!

FakePlasticTrees · 15/10/2009 14:42

oh, been mental at work so not posting!

Rostbeef I just called who'll be my GP, who gave me the Midwife's number, called her and I'm going to see her on Thursday (leaving DH to deal with the delivery of new washing machine etc due that day). She asked about hospitals, I said I was open to discussion but I was thinking of the Pembury in Tun Wells as heard it was good (and DH was born there so MIL v keen on it). Will discuss with her next week, but think that's the best way to go for me. Would probably be your nearest as well...

bethoo you might need to get someone from HR/factilities to check your chair etc, I realised I was reaching more for phone as I can't get right up to the desk as my bump is in the way and it was hurting my right shoulder...

shinybaubles · 15/10/2009 16:15

Not the only one bethoo I also get backache, can't wait to see the gynae tomorrow she will love my list that she has to fix - cold, backache, acid reflux and I am sure she will mention my weight gain they are quite weight obsessed here . It's all crap. Sorry feeling sorry for myself - I am lucky to have had a trouble free happy pregnancy so far I know - hard to think straight when you have such a congested head.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 15/10/2009 16:26

Hi Bethoo - I too have had backache - although now realise that a lot of it probably due to SPD, but oooooh, to have someone rub the lower back/pelvis area would be bliss!

somewhathorrified · 15/10/2009 16:45

I read that the main cause of backache during pregnancy is bad posture. It's tempting to push bump out curving spine (same effect happens when you wear heals). Try to keep your spine straightish and wear flat shoes (I live in a pair of very fetching black pumps). OFC your bub could just be kicking you there!

Mama2b5 · 15/10/2009 17:40

Hi all- Missed me! sorry to hear of the aches pains and colds! look after yourself we are all needed in a few weeks time!!!!
for colds -"oilbus oil" is also good to put in water and inhale the steam!try not to fill to much and be safe when lifting the bowl! sorry i have just completed my fist aid course and now am so super paronoid about everything most accidents occur whilst at home!3 full days- in pain but, really enjoyed it and with kids better safe then sorry i say! ( St John rocks!)
last nite was the worse SPD playing up and i went straight to bed without food, getting up to go toilet was so painful! cant wait for physio, appt letter arrive today so just have to confirm date, time and location!
my DH was so concerned and kept checking on me and adjusting my pillows! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

CTOFN- wow a cleaner, that would be great, very thankful older kids do alot and they would love that!
Crumpette- decisions, decisions so many choices that we have to make because its us and how we feel that is he major factor!
Bethoo- i so dont want to buy a huge coat that i wont be able to use again come next year, so thankful for primark and the big cardi that i can wear until i suppose it really gets cold then i will wrap up in doors and only go out with DH in the car!

lilacpink · 15/10/2009 22:05

Hi All, hope everyone is well.

After starting SPD at 20 weeks, I now weirdly have some days where I hardly feel it (~28 weeks). One thing that does seem to help me, as well as wearing a belt around my hips while walking, is to clench my bum cheeks, just hope it doesn't make my increasing-in-size-by-the-day bum look even bigger just seems to help encourage my pelvis to stay together a bit more!

I had a bad cold last week, when I got up from bed I seemed to have doubled in size, I returned to work and everyone was shocked. A few people who've just returned from work from 3 months working away have made comments along the lines of "well you can't have long to go now..." eek, still have ~3months!!

Counting days down until I leave work, is 17.5 days (2.5 per week). I took advice following a post on here and have decided to leave ASAP. yippee

bethoo · 16/10/2009 09:53

yes it could be bad posture as i slump everywhere and do try and strighten my back as can get uncomfy wiht bump directly underneath boobs! i have already resorted to flat pumps too somewhathorrified very comfy but i find they make my alread yshort stumpy legs look even shorter and stumpier!! but am off to Anne Summers party tonight hopefully if still awake and in the mood for drunk ladies and dildos shoved onto my nose! so may make an effort as it will be my only ''night out'' for a long time to come!
hope everyone else is well even though there are still stuffy noses doing its rounds

maygirl · 16/10/2009 10:22

Hi everyone, hope those with colds on the mend.
I've awarded myself 2 duvet days this week! Did lots of driving at the weekend (+600 miles) visiting friends and family, so was knackered at work. Had a bit of an emotional meltdown and had to hide in toilet for a good cry . Felt like also might be fighting off a cold, so decided to take some time off. A bit guilty, but have had no time off sick in this job so far. Feeling much better. Nesting instinct must be kicking in, I've currently got a man in shampooing all my carpets! I WANT clean, but don't want to do it myself!

My yoga teacher has given us bum clenching exercises to prevent SPD lilacpink!! You do in bed before getting up, stretch one leg out with foot turned out slightly and really clench bum tight for a few counts while stretching the leg out. Looks like you have discovered a version for yourself!
