DS isn't starting pre-school till late April. I'm hoping it's all blown over by then...

i have refused the vaccination as i am 39 weeks now and my doc certainly did not promote it! I have not looked too deeply into threads o here about it as most other threads seem to turn into aggressive bantering instead of chatting!!!! My dd has had 'mild' SF and I just think there are so so so many cases of mis diagnosis with it and kids been given tamiflu and it making them 10 times worse so i am reluctant with it all. Hopefully I have made the right decision for me.Having lots of pelvic pain but not contractions just baby is engaged and still wriggling and it hurts!!!!!!

Mybox · 21/11/2009 21:14

I was advised not to have the swine flu vaccine with adjvent. My dh had the vaccine so if me or kids get it he can look after us. I had just the normal flu vaccine.

sparklycheerymummy · 21/11/2009 21:17

can someone explain simply the adjuvant thing..... not sure what the terms mean xx

madmissy · 21/11/2009 21:18

me either

Catz · 21/11/2009 21:19

Good luck Annie and Charley! Exciting to hear that things are finally happening for some of us. Annie- not sure it's very helpful but last time my contractions were almost entirely back pain (DD was back to back) whereas BH were just a tightening across the front.

Also undecided about the vaccine. Was at the surgery yesterday for 38wk appointment and apparently, as I've read elsewhere, they were sent an initial 500 doses as the same is being sent to every surgery in the country. My practice is huge and their list of high risk people is several hundred more than this. They have to wait for another delivery before offering it to the rest of the high risk then moving on to pg women. I very much doubt they'll get round to offering it to me before I deliver and that's quite a relief as at least I don't feel irresponsible for having/not having it. If I am offered it I want to be sure it'll have time to be of some benefit to the baby (either in womb or via breastfeeding) as am 38+1 and I hear it takes 14 days to be effective.

"Adjuvants are pharmacological or immunological agents that modify the effect of other agents (e.g., drugs, vaccines) while having few if any direct effects when given by themselves"

As far as I understand, it means they can give you less of the actual virus and get the same or better immune response.

its such a serious thing for us all to consider when our brains are full of baby mush..... i was offered it at 35 weeks (3 weeks ago) and refused it as most of the women there did!

sparklycheerymummy · 21/11/2009 21:33

sorry I was 36 weeks and it was 2.5 weeks ago...... oh god i dont even know what day it is...... my pelvic pain is horrendous.... sure its going to jump out of me!!!!

charleymouse · 21/11/2009 21:44

Contractions every 10 mins since 20:02, had a show at 21:06.

Hopefully things moving along. MW popping out just after 22:00 to check all okay.

I was told 9 days for SF jab to take full effect. Hoping now bump gets some benefit as only had it last Tuesday.

Take care, how you doing Annie?

madmissy · 21/11/2009 21:48

Nightnight.

sparklycheerymummy · 21/11/2009 23:15

i have back ache and sore boobs but know i am just making everything fit 'signs of labour' cos i soooooooooo want it to happen now. Its the midwives fault telling me i should labour quickly due to babys good position. Got hold of a foot today..... which is ace cos i am quite a well insulated lady so have felt lumps but this was a proper foot!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 21/11/2009 23:17

oooh Charley how very very exciting.... you having a home birth???? sorry you have probably said but i am so forgetful xx

charleymouse · 21/11/2009 23:23

Yes hopefully at home, have all the kit here ready. Just off to bed now for a few hours night night. Well done on recognising a foot.

sparklycheerymummy · 21/11/2009 23:26

night night.....sleep if you can. Yes it was defo a foot and i can somehow feel more limbs and lumps in the last few days right down the sides and a nice little bum in the middle...... cant wait for baby but do think i will miss my bump xxxx

Catz · 22/11/2009 09:11

Any news Charlie or Annie? Hope you got some sleep Charley.

My only 'maybe it's close' symptom was an upset stomach for a few days last week but DH now seems to have it too so either it's a bug or there's something very important that DH hasn't been telling me...!

madmissy · 22/11/2009 09:13

Was just coming on to ask the same thing! Hope you are both ok girls!

charleymouse · 22/11/2009 11:04

Okay had a funny turn about 5:00 am rang MW and she arrived about 5:20. She couldn't examine me as contractions were every couple of minutes and I couldn't sit down. Got examined and was 7cm but stretchy as well. Once I had sat down I could not get up and kept contracting on the sofa.

I eventually got up as the urge to poo was overwhelming SITMI, had a little winnet then could not get off toilet. Head was visible, MW held head in whilst I got back on sofa leaning over the back. One push and head and body both popped out together. Baby came out screaming and TENS machine fell on the head, had a look to see what was what to discover a little girl. She was quite vernixy and weighed in at 6lb 15oz. Walked to the loo again and delivered placenta, all okay so sat back down to look in amazement at my beautiful little baby girl. I have a small labial tear/graze which is stinging but I could not stop the urge to push even though I was trying really hard.

She latched on and is also feeding now. Had a bath MWs gone and we are all sat in bed, trying to get the adrenaline out of my system so I can nap.

Videoed it and have just watched it back crying. It is so amazing. Thank-you for thinking of me last night. Thank you to everyone who helped me think a HBAC was okay and I was not mad to go for it.

Really am going to sleep now. Honest. Gazes at new baby and comes over all soppy.

charleymouse · 22/11/2009 11:05
