Right then, I can't stand the mad scrolling any more so I'm starting a new thread.

Hope you feel better today, fashill. Hugs. Don't worry about the stretchmarks. Wear them with pride as my last midwife told me...

Saw a midwife yesterday. Yet again a new one! On the upside, she said that what I experienced last week was probably pre-labour and that she doesn't expect me to go full-term! Wahey! Knowing my luck, I'll still be here at 42 weeks though. Feeling much more positive now generally.

That sounds good logic
Has anyone else started following the due April thread it is so exciting, and we're NEXT!

That's exciting logic, and I'm glad you said that, cos I had just started thinking, "this woman has managed to start a new thread AND make a link to it on the old thread, she can't possibly be pregnant!"

I had a half hour of very obvious contractions last night - about four of them 10 minutes apart. But I still reckon he's got another 3 weeks in there. Still, 3 weeks isn't very long at all!

does anyone else's baby have hiccoughs every hour or so? at first i thought it was very sweet and was making everyone feel my tummy coz i was so excited. now they are just making me feel sick!

Hi everyone, hope you are all feeling well today.

Re: stretchmarks - I got them when I was pg with DS - and loads of them too. At first I used to cry because of the state of my belly but now I make a joke of it and call it DS's bar code!

And yes Hollya - my baby gets hiccups all the time, I loved it at first but now it's getting really annoying!!

Pleased to hear you're feeling better now Logic

How exciting fisil! The midwife told me that if you can stop the contractions with a warm bath then they aren't the real thing but I think that it's obviously good practice...

My baby has started getting hiccups too but at least it means I know that she is head down!

Thanks Maddison!

Hi all, its exciting now some of us are getting close. My baby only has hiccups occaisionally, although it has got its bum rammed under my ribs, giving me a sore patch below my right breast. Saw the midwife yesterday and its almost engaged, although no bh or anything yet - thankfully as I'm not ready yet!
I've got a few small stretch marks on the underside of my breasts - which I wasn't expecting, none on tummy yet, although a faint linea nigra.
Hope everyone is keeping well .

LittleB - I'm 4/5 engaged now, and the pressure on my right rib is so much better!

My little one gets hiccups almost every time I eat (bodes badly for feeding?), but as you say, at least you know where theire head is!

LittleB · 15/04/2005 14:17

Wow, 4/5ths! Not long now for you!

Well my midwife has just left - she has been out to go throught the birth plan with DH & I. I'm getting really excited now, I can't wait to meet my new little fella - and to not have a buddah belly anymore!

Fisil - you are not going to last 3 weeks, you lucky person!

My midwife told me to keep my legs shut until Monday because then I will be 37 weeks and I can go to Heatherwood. So my campaign will start in ernest then. Curries, pineapples and long waddles. Ds' weekly dance class will also help. It damn near killed me today.

LOL at the dancing Logic - I wouldn't have the guts to dance, I'd look like a Weeble!!

I tried not to move much but the idea is to encourage the kids by letting them copy you. It's all high impact - let's wear out the toddlers stuff. It's started my B-H contractions off again!

Ooo, I'm getting lots of hiccups as well. Daughter was fascinated listening but then remembered that she hated the baby so had to change her expression quickly

No stretch marks yet but do know that they can appear in last few weeks. Have a photo of me at 6 days overdue from last time and would say I'm now the same size .

Asked midwife yesterday, jokingly, if baby's head was engaged yet. She said "well, not engaged yet but definitely stuck in the pelvis" Still got 2 weeks to go at work yet - really don't want it to be early

fisil · 15/04/2005 19:22

Nah, I'm convincing myself that it will be well into May before I drop - I don't want to get my hopes up. The waiting gets so tedious! And ds was fully engaged from 36 weeks but was 2 weeks late!

Mind you, had another 1/2 hour of the old BH this evening (during Story Makers & Roly Mo), so I should be pretty good at it all by the time its cooked!

I reckon you're gonna be our first Fisil!!!

Went to our last Parencraft class today and the midwife bathed a newborn little boy for us. Was so lovely I had a tear in my eye as it all seemed so real! The parents were so happy and mum didn't have a great time of it either.

Then started crying on the way home when I heard on the radio again the story about the little girl who helped to deliver her baby brother with help from the 999 operator over the phone!! Lovely!! Bloomin' hormones

Baby's having hiccups everytime I've eaten too!!

Report
logic · 15/04/2005 19:58

Tbh fisil, I'd rather have 1/2 hour of contractions than watch Roly Mo.

re. stretch marks, i have some delightful ones on the inside of my thighs. they are bright red and painful. was going to go swimming to pass some time the other day, but after the discovery of these i decided to stay at home and cry!!
don't know if these are baby related or just due to me eating too much and getting a bit fat.

Report
logic · 16/04/2005 09:04

I sympathise, Hollya. Last time, I really wanted to go to aquanatal classes but felt too fat and stretchmarky so didn't go.

you know if you went to aquanatal classes there would be some skinny girl with a perfect bump and zero stretchmarks who's had a wonderful pregnancy and feels glowing and you'd feel even worse.

re rhw rasberry leaf tea, I took those holland and barrett pills last time, and was induced at 42 weeks. So I wouldn't worry too much about them causing premature labour -- not in my case anyway!

also, I recently heard thqt they don't start of labour, they just make your contractions stronger and more efficient whe labour does happen. I'm not expert on the matter but that's what I heard.

Yep, bump is getting hiccups too, but not as much as DS did. I have started getting heartburn this week, so I guess the hair is coming on her head (had horrendous heartburn with DS and he came out with a full head of dark hair). Went and bought Gaviscon today, and it does help.

Also got a few new stretchmarks this week, on my inner thighs...

I'm not due until the end of May, but would love to come a few weeks early.. getting a bit impatient now.

My SIL had horrific heartburn, so much so that she just drank gaviscon out the bottle!! Luckily for me I haven't had any heartburn so I guess I must be having another baldie!

Add me to the heartburn list - have had it a while and tend to swig straight from the bottle . So I guess I'll be having a hairy baby!

Just in case you didn't know, you can get Gaviscon in big bottles free on prescription...
