Right then, I can't stand the mad scrolling any more so I'm starting a new thread.

Hope you feel better today, fashill. Hugs. Don't worry about the stretchmarks. Wear them with pride as my last midwife told me...

Saw a midwife yesterday. Yet again a new one! On the upside, she said that what I experienced last week was probably pre-labour and that she doesn't expect me to go full-term! Wahey! Knowing my luck, I'll still be here at 42 weeks though. Feeling much more positive now generally.

You need iron to make more blood (red blood cells??). This is really quite important for pregnant women and baby. So if you haven't enough iron your body struggles on the existing blood suppply, hence your tiredness. I think it also contributes to shortness of breath basically because your existing blood can't carry enough oxygen to meet your body's demands. I thought there were some pills that don't cause constipation. IT is also good to eat grean leafy veg WITH VITAMIN C. So say spimach salade with an orange or orange juice.

Brighteyes · 18/04/2005 16:48

thanks for the advice regarding the iron ladies.

Northstar I'm the same as you, I can't remember the last time I ate a full meal. The baby is so big its restricting the amount I can actually eat, so I survive on small snacks. Think this might have contributed to the low iron levels because I'm certainly not getting enough from my daily diet.

Weezle · 18/04/2005 16:51

Brighteyes - according to the midwife they have space for us (!) next wednesday morning but they won't be able to confirm that until we go back tomorrow afternoon. So it could be only 9 days to go! I feel just like you - it is a scary prospect, but now that I've got to grips with the idea of having a c-sction I'd feel quite disappointed if the plan changed again! Also, I'd far rather have it done in a calm planned way with DH there (on my side of the green curtain of course ), than an emergency one with him out in the corridor.

Northstar - what sad news about your GP.

Brighteyes · 18/04/2005 17:24

OMG Weezle only nine days to go. Are the nerves keeping you awake at night yet? Think that makes me nervous about the c-section as well, having a definte date, counting down the days.

This is your first too isn't it?

Think if they decide on the c-section tomorrow it will be either for the 3rd or 5th of May. They said they would wait until I was 38 weeks as long as the baby didn't get to big and I know they only do electives on a Tuesday and a Thursday. The Thursday would be a great birthday 5/5/05 but think they would be leaving it a bit to late by then as my edd is the 15th

Is anyone else ravenously hungry and extremely thirsty all the time? I'm drinking pints of water and juice and eating for about 4 I think!

definatly not hungry but I'm constantly thirsty. I'm drinking 3 litres of water a day. My urine sample looked so clear that the student midwife thought I filled it up at the tap .

northstar · 18/04/2005 22:00

No, definately not hungry either, keep forgetting to have lunch and that wouldnt be like me! I'm thirsty at night - nightmare - weeing enough during the night as it is!!!
The thought of a huge dinner scares me tbh.

I had my second parentcraft class yesterday, and now I am more scared than ever. We went through labour and pain. Talk about no holds barred!!!! The midwife has scared me rigid now.
I thought I would be able to handle labour, but I am not so sure now

fisil · 19/04/2005 08:38

They have to give you all the details, Sam. Then you'll feel like it was dead easy when it actually happens! (hopefully!)

Same with me with the thirst. I can down a pint of cold water in one!

logic · 19/04/2005 08:48

You'll manage the pain, SamCattie. Don't worry - it's worth it!

Hi,

My EDD is on the 09/05 and I'm definately hungry,I feel like I'm carbohydrate loading before the big event although I should be drinking more, but the constant peeing is getting to me ... I managed to sleep through the night on Sunday(definately not drinking enough) so I bought myself some 2 litre bottles of Evian and try to drink those...

claudi2 · 19/04/2005 09:20

Samcatie,

Dont be afraid, everyone has different pain thresholds, besides you can always get pain relief, if you think it is really unbearable. DD1 was born without painrelief(I must have sat in the bath for at least 2 hours), but for DD2 they thought they would have to do a cesarian, so I had an epidural, and I could literally not feel the pain.DH was pissed off 'cause he felt useless and I just lay there until it was time to push ...however babies are often drowsy when youve had an epidural so from the babies point of view maybe not so good.

logic · 19/04/2005 09:24

Hello Claudi2! I'm glad that I'm not the only one eating everything in sight I seem to be putting on about 1lb a day! I've found that the new volvic fruit water is lovely too. Can't stand water on it's own.

I'm going to book a cottage in Cornwall for a week in the summer today. I'm a bit worried about taking such a small baby on holiday. Anyone else contemplating it?

claudi2 · 19/04/2005 09:40

We are thinking of flying to Spain mid-July(due to the DDs having school hols then), and I have no apprehensions about it. What would be good though is to have a separate room for your toddler, preferably as far away from the baby as possible ... and I find that they by the time the babies are 3 month things are more quiet, ie. if you are breastfeeding things are setteling down to a rythm, and hopefully baby only wakes up once during the night ...

northstar · 19/04/2005 09:45

Myermay, the teary days are due to your hormones, don't worry. It is also a sign of pre-labour so be prepared! Also be prepared for the 3 day blues after baby comes along, it is a hormonal thing again. Go with the flow, have a good cry, it'll all be over the next day!

spilla · 19/04/2005 09:46

I too am constantly hungry fro snacky things although can't eat big meals. Had cereal at 7.30 with ds and then toast at 9.00 and just thinking what I can have now!!!

Have back ache and headache and feel like I need the toilet all the time - anyone know if this could be early labour?

fisil · 19/04/2005 10:03

logic, we have a week in Greece booked for the first week in July. I think getting the passport will be quite a trial. We are self catering, and we've been to the same town before and reckon we should have a nice relaxed week! Dss will be 2 1/2 and c. 8 weeks!

northstar · 19/04/2005 10:07

Spilla, I have a backache too, and need the loo constantly, but think it is just late pregnancy tbh!
Oh, and for the non-first timers - anyone starting to leak a tiny bit if they cough or sneeze? Please someone say yes

fisil · 19/04/2005 10:10

not just a little bit northstar. When I had a cold I had to wear a pad!

northstar · 19/04/2005 10:12

Fisil thank you thank you thank you

Every time i get a little leak (from where-ever) i get really excited and hope that it is my waters breaking BUT I should know full well that it isn't because when/if they do break it will be a huge gush! On ds they broke on the toilet - how lucky was that!

northstar · 19/04/2005 10:44

Myermay it will be great for you seeing your parents again, and especially knowing they have had a lovely long holiday and you needn't feel guilty when they are helping you over the next couple of months. I bet they are really looking forward to seeing you and your bump
