Thanks Tee! I am now the size of a heffalump and wondering how on earth I'm going to be able to cope with another 16 weeks of this. But then I think hey, 16 weeks, it'll fly by. I'm having lots of baby delivery dreams at the moment. Last night I dreamed I gave birth at 32 weeks and was attended by my DC because it happened so fast nobody else got to me in time. All was well, though the baby was extremely small, and dressed in DD's baby doll clothes. .

Inneed - I feel for you operating on only 3 hours sleep a night - that is nothing. And I agree w you and Tee that comments like "just wait till the baby is born etc" are NOT helpful. Makes me want to slap their smug face.

Speaking of "helpful" comments, MIL starting to offer more advice than is necessary (ie any), so have gone from trying to keep her involved ie sending same email to my mum and to her about baby clothes etc, to thinking that its time to disengage a little. She is absolutely lovely and DH is her treasured only child on the other side of the world and we are having her much longed for first grandchild. But it does "get my goat" (as my dad would say) to get almost daily emails w (paranoid) advice etc. Even DH (who thinks its hilarious) was paying her out telling her that things have changed in the last 30+ years when she started offering some advice to him, too! Ooops, sorry for vent!

Juicy - sounds like your DH is in a bit of strife today. Hope he gets over the hangover and takes you to IKEA asap. Re the top, can you glam up an existing top that fits w accessories? I would be devastated if my only glam maternity outfit was ruined, but hopefully you have a Plan B. I think I need to buy a nice, black, low cut dress. I may never be so bosomy again!!

About to head out to get some groceries - have been on the internet / phone sorting out viewings for our next flat ALL DAY and am about to go spare! Have a lovely evening ladies!

OK, have to respond, Ermintrude as have also had a couple of weird dreams about our baby arriving, including me having no idea what to do, how to hold her etc. Plus, , she was quite ugly and I was horrified . Am not beautiful myself, but do slightly worry about having an ugly baby. Although then think that should not pass that baggage onto my daughter ie don't want her to be looks obsessed as not the sort of shallow character that I want her to develop.

Back to your dream Ermintrude - is it just that you worry that the labour will be out of your control ie too fast, so you dream about it? Apparently all v normal to have such dreams. Although imagine a bit disturbing!

I should go for a walk - am treating you ladies as if you were my therapist tonight!

bunnymother I always have vivid dreams so no surprise that they're just all about babies at the moment. Sometimes they're nightmarish, sometimes delightful, usually surreal, like last night's. It ended positively anyway and wasn't at all upsetting, even in the dream! It's probably something to do with how I'm preparing mentally for the birth, which I hope will be at home if all goes well - but preferably with DH around and a couple of MWs and no DC!!

I look at pics of my newborns and sometimes they don't exactly look gorgeous - eg, DD's eye was a bit swollen and she was a bit cheesy (ie. covered in vernix) - but to me at the time they were the most beautiful creatures in the world. And still are. You'll adore her and she will be a little poppet, don't worry!

I spent my first 1/2 Friday off asleep! It was great!! 3 whole hours.

bunny- good on you for taking a stand, you tried to inclusive of all dc's in laws & it gets thrown back (you lasted longer than me sweetie, mine ended after my wedding ) When we were choosing the menu for our wedding breakfast (we had gorg & posh venison!) she would say things like great aunt so & so won't eat that- give them a veggie meal & oh but uncle wotsit doesn't like vegatables!! sorry but 1- it;s my wedding & me & dh will choose & 2- who gives her the right to interfere anyway? ha ha crazy lady!

erm & bunny- weird dreams for me every night but sometimes really scary not going to say what as don't want my pals on here getting scared too! No baby dreams yet oh apart from the nightmare 2 days after my il's had left after their extended christmas stay when I had the worst flu of my life! - dredded baby coming because that would mean more extended visits & would spoil the time with our precious bundle

Sorry ladies I always seem to be a misery when talking about my il's they are 'well meaning' just too much & too intrusive, I mean you want people to feel comfortable in ones home but lying across my F-in sofa , putting teacups directly onto the sofa!!! (just weird) & STEALING yes you read it right stealing food from my fridge then denying he had eaten it - too much!!!! & please don't think I am stingy with the grub in this house, whenever they come I stock up with m&s lovely stuff, cook wonderful filling meals & serve up lemon merangue pie's & the like - he (FIL) always nicks more! (hence JUNE why I don't want him in my house painting the bloody lounge!) what a weirdo, that coupled with the 'funny' comments & the nasty nasty comments about my poor long suffering sil (by marriage they had 2 boys) (she isn;t a good wife/mother they just don't like her blah blah blah) is all too much to bear!!!!!!!! PS me & my sil get on great as I do with my bil, she said she is looking forward to our baby coming as they would come down here & give her a break she even gently recommended that they stay in a hotel to give us space - bless her. Oh & they completely ignored her!!!!!

bunny - not sure what to do re- the outfit, too upset to think (only kidding) yes I do have other bits & a really nice long chunky necklace

june/bunny - dh has managed to drag himself to the gym ( a very convienient hang over that comes & goes when he wants it to!) & is now cooking me up spag bol, I shall sit him down on sunday & get an ikea date in my diary!!

tee- bet you feel better after that nap - just shows how much sleep us mummies need!

Juicy, how out of order for your ILs to slag off your SIL. Do you think they might reverse it when they're with her? If you don't want them around the house after the birth I really hope your DH will help control the duration of the visit. (I'd be tempted to hide all the food and keep the fridge bare of all but the basics. Though that way madness lies...) And he'd better get the decorating done himself!

We had fish and chips 3 hours ago and I still feel full and sick. Not a clever move.

hiya all!

Just back from a lovely meal with DH as a delayed valentines meal seen as i was sick last weekend.

As i mentioned before i was told at my 20 week scan i was having a girl, but why oh why when people look at me they say 'oh the doc is wrong your having a boy' it kinda annoys me (not the thought of having a boy) but of people butting in when i dont want them too!
Also work is getting worse, completed a risk assessment questionaire today and because i highlighted areas which may be a risk they changed my answers
Rant over for now!

to all with vivid dreams, mine are still continuing...last night I dreamt of a cat (a different cat from mine) on my bed but giving birth to 40 kittens and I had to help feed them it was weird!!

I?m sure if I didn?t have to pay for the GTT I would have had it but I am in Spain and paying privately and given that I don?t have any signs of GD I figured it was a safe test not to have hope you get good results I have to give blood quite a lot and my veins have collapsed before too, apparently it happens when you are run down so take it easy and look after yourself. Choccie?s advice on the buggy front sounded spot on to me.

When I was BFing I used to dream about being able to sleep naked again! LOL at your DH, sleeping naked is no way near as big as a confession as some of the things we say on MN!

Daisy ? my worst subject at Uni ended up being one of major parts of my career too ? funny isn?t it? June ? mental note to self before DS?s next swimming class: you have 2 armpits!! got a reprieve from the razor this week as DS was too ill to go glad you had a lovely time with your family they must be over the moon that you know the flavour of your bean too I did wash all DS?s things in non-bio before he arrived and was glad I did as even air gave the wee manny a rash!! That said, I wouldn?t wash them too soon. Admission: when I was 25 weeks pg with DS I?d started packing my hospital bag Lansinoh is expensive but worth its weight in gold, I had tubes all round the house in the early days with DS! Karmilsan (sp!?) is also good I found. I love the name Allegra too but DH doesn?t ? shame Re clothes ? I bought about 10 white vests and babygros in 0-3 and about the same again 3-6. DS wore them all which is more than I can say for some of the shoes and Jeans he was given in the 0-3 size, personally, I feel that it is fine for babies to wear soft babygros until they are 3 months old and beyond and they are certainly easier but I am sure many would disagree. I never got to the shops at all until DS was about 3 months old anyway! I got some roomy button up the front t-shirt nighties on eBay, M&S seconds I think.

Ermintrude ? enjoy half term I have mat pjs from Blooming Marvellous, JojoMamanBebe and Mothercare ? none of them pink and all comfy I?ve put on 3kgs here so far.

Ineed ? great photo, he looks sweet I am quite disappointed that given the technology available for this baby compared to DS I can see so little and yet with him, because of the location of the placenta, we would have got great pics ? hey ho! I too would have loved another little boy, why do people feel the need to commiserate?? I just don?t get it ? an heir and a spare perfect!! Snap ? my DS was 7lb8 at birth too how does DS like his new room?

Tee ? I hope you are taking things easy hon glad you got a good arrangement worked out at work I arranged to work 2 days from home a week and it made a massive difference not having to commute.

Juicy ? sorry to hear about your grandparents and the move must have been very tough. How romantic of your DH to make you a VD dinner I am very sensitive to any plight when pg too I?m craving peanut butter on hot toast.

Bunnymother ? I froze made up sandwiches for DH and chucked them into my bag when we were leaving for the hospital when in labour with DS ? a hungry DH would not have been a useful one ? as it turned out, the sandwiches were still frozen when DS arrived!! I am useless at keeping a diary, I made one entry after I left hospital with DS and all it says is ?Xavier is sooo cute??

MrsMcJnr - I was in floods at ER! Why do I do it to myself. It was bad enough when Pratt died (I was in tears for hours) and I even knew this one was about a kid dying......

Off to bloody Ikea again on Monday (was there on Thursday) as we bought the wrong slats for the bed.... AAGH! Oh well, at least it's just that and the bed guards which I can manage on my own if I have to. It's the thought of driving to Croydon again that's putting me off!!

Another night of shit sleep and DS awake at 5am. I feel like I'm losing my mind...

Mum and dad up today and brother and his girlfriend arrived last night. Managed to bake mum's birthday cake yesterday so I'm going back up to bed at 8am and DH can come and sort him. Bless DH though, he got up at 5am with DS (despite no sleep himself - we're both crap at it) but I was wide awake upstairs for an hour anyway so sent him back up to bed at 6. At least he's been off all week so has been able to let me doze in the daytime to make up for lack of sleep (probably exacerbating the problem - oh well).

What a depressing post!! On a lighter note, I have 6 more Tuesdays to work and then I'm officially a SAHM (I only work a day and a half a fortnight, so it hardly qualifies!) Still exciting though!

ER always gets me and DH in tears but this week, being about the son was so awful as you keep thinking about your own DS don?t you? sorry you have to go back to Ikea ? it is an exhausting place! I was awake from 5am too poor DS sounds like a seal with his coughing this is his first cough (he?s 13 months) and I?m just not sure whether or when he?ll need medicine. I am not a big fan of taking him to the Drs as they are far too liberal with antibiotics here. Think I?ll take him on Monday if he is still coughing. It?s hard to know how bad it is because he never spits anything out (sorry if TMI) and the rasping kids get from coughs always sounds bad doesn?t it? hope you have a sleep and then a lovely family day

I was just thinking (when I was awake at 5am) how the post-partum weeks came as quite a shock to me after I had DS. I had been so well all through my pregnancy with no aliments at all and then after I had him I felt wretched. It?s hard to describe but I just felt physically weak and run down. I suppose the sleep deprivation made things worse. I managed to pull a ligament in my back the day I got home from hospital too and that was agony. I wish I?d read more about how things are during that period; how jelly like my tummy would feel (and how it does go back to normal eventually!), how much you bleed (that too ends!) and how you can leak milk. I?m not trying to tell a horror story because mine wasn?t (I had stitches but honestly never felt that they were there at all) I just wish I?d been more prepared for that period. Just thought I?d throw that in for the first timers as I know I never read anything when I was pregnant about after the birth and wish I had and I wanted to ask those with DCs already whether they felt like that too or whether it was just me?

We are 23 weeks today, baby has been kicking like mad.. It is all new territory for us from here, don't think we will ever stop worrying about another late loss but v v happy to have things going well now.

tee sorry I don't know anything about foetal heart monitor scan, maybe worth ringing and asking why you have been referred?

snowwombat hope you had a great hen night you must be getting excited not aboout your wedding....as for leg cramps yeah I have been suffering cramps in both arms and legs, got carpal tunnel syndrome in arms but dont know whats wrong with my legs, suposidly its normal in pregnancy if your worried you should get it checked by a doc.

We tried a few around the store and this one was the most manoeuvrable, collapses easily and is really easy to switch between the car seat/carrycot/regular seat. Its even kinda cool looking!

DH is over the price, but its not like we have a car! Baby needs a sweet ride.

Also tonic water is supposed to be good for leg cramps haven't had any for about a week and had to jump out of bed at 5.45 this morning becuase of the agony ( and my legs kept aching where the cramp had been for the rest of the morning

Tee pram shpping is great fun, sitting here thinking about the ohil and teds that's now safely ensonced in our loft ( didn't want it in the house till it's needed).

Well we have a new car on the way, I ssay car but what i actually mean is tank!!! It's a new sttle Kia sedona, on a 57 plate so about 18 months old on a 0% finance deal which I thought was a good bet! Only down side is it's silver (same as last car) and I wanted a dark blue one but as it's second hand we don't get to choose!

Still should pick that up in March, now just to finish the garage and the garden (the builder finally appeare this morning for a coupe of hours on the garage, and my parents were round to put up fencing earlier this week, to keep the wild animals out dd's in)

26 weeks on tuesday, am beginning to get a little more energy now to clean start nesting!!!!

Just been to Tesco and they currently have fab deals on sterilisers, nappy bins and breats pump and i decided to buy them...its the tommy tippee range got the eletric steriliser for £19.99 the freedom breat pump for £12.97 and the bin for £9.99 (the bin had near £20 off usual price)

Hey Tee ? foetal monitoring is when they put a band thing around your tummy and watch and listen to the baby?s heartbeat for a while on a monitor. Not sure what the scan part is though - maybe a scan plus the monitoring? I had FM for 40 mins or so when DS was overdue, it was kind of eerie as there were about 5 others being monitored on the same ward and we could hear all their hearts too! The buggy looks great We looked at the Quinny Buzz for DA, not that one, it wasn?t a 3 wheeler and I just couldn?t work the catch to collapse it so we scored it off our list.

Also delighted to hear that your baby keeps you reassured, mine is a quiet one so I am always slightly worried about her but I do know she is ok really I see that the Emmaljunga prams from Sweden are a big hit across the water with you, know anything about them? I am looking at the Twin Ceeox 360 at the mo. Apparently the quinine in tonic water can help stop those leg cramps as can eating a banana before bed

tee - I don't want to be a damp squid, but just to mention that our Quinny Buzz developed problems with becoming noisy when we pushed it, and the brake slowly coming on, and we don't actually use it that often. Not sure how many reviews you have read about it and whether anyone else has had the same problem.

mrsmcjnr - hello. I got my first babgro's from Euroski - 1 euro each, so shall be digging them out soon. My cousin was like you. She had fantastic pregnancies and then felt flat as a pancake afterwards. I was the opposite, atrocious pregnancy, but physically better the moment I gave birth. As this pregnancy is going really well, I'm wondering how it will go after birth. It is odd what they say about boys being easier in pregnancy - both my cousin's children were boys & she had happy pregnancies. I'm having a boy and having a great pregnancy. My dd's was horrible. Did you find your DS the easier pregnancy?

laura - I caught some of the conjoined twins story too. They just looked so frail and I kept willing them to get better even though I knew they didn't. It would drive me nuts not being able to hug them.

I had a frightening moment a couple of days ago, when standing in a shop. This manic pounding suddenly started up from a couple of inches below where my ribs stop, in the centre. It felt like 'Alien' as if something were trying to leap out of my body. I just went rigid. It was one of the most frightening thing that had happened to me. It didn't last too long, but after a cup of tea, I headed to the doctors as worried something was wrong with the baby. All was fine, thank goodness, and they thought it was my heart rate that was the problem so did a test but all was A1. It was freaky. I've had heart palpitations before and a 'racing heart' for up to a couple of hours, but never from the centre of my body and never like that. The doctor said there is more pressure on the aorta during later pregnancy and probably that is why I had felt heart palpitations there, but at first I thought the baby was having a heart attack!!!

Oh I am sooo sick of coughing....25 weeks today. Can't wait to meet my new son.

I've just realised that it's the first time I've ever said or written those words.......my son

mrsmcjnr the letter says a detailed scan of my baby's heart, so I am thinking this is something different. I have a feeling it has to do with the diabetes.

daisy thanks for your input. I've read a zillion (or so it seems ) reviews and haven't heard of that one. Perhaps its something they've fixed in the new 2009 model? All the reviews I've read are very positive.
