STT- sorry you are feeling worried. I'd give the doctors surgery a call, you have nothing to lose... Or could you ring and speak to one of the MWs you had before?

i just had my MW here and someone rang her worried about miscarrying 1 day after a positive preg test, after a previous experience. She spoke to her for ages (odd in the middle of my appt but was ok!) and sounded very kind and understanding. Hope you can find someeone to talk to you too.

OP posts:
kayzr · 20/02/2009 10:07

Thats a good idea GYo. STT I would try and ring a MW if possible. I know someone who rang the labour ward and they were able to get her seen by an early pregnancy unit.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 20/02/2009 10:12

GYo, if i'd actually had 'a' midwife instead of a different one at every appt I probably would call them . Another part of my AN care that wasn't really as it should have been.

Ho hum.

Anyway, I mustered up enough courage to call EPAU and they said they couldn't scan me till the end of next week at the earliest so I may as well go and see my MW next week at my booking in and she would 'sort me out'. Great. That means that in a weeks time, I'll probably have to wait another week for a scan, if she even thinks I deserve one.

Hope I start throwing up soon

Sparklytwinkletoes · 20/02/2009 10:13

Got to get offline as I'm in the office and shouldn't really be here.

Keep fingers crossed for me?

kayzr · 20/02/2009 10:15

That is awful. The one up here you ring them and they scan you the next day.

I don't suppose you can afford a private one can you?

kayzr · 20/02/2009 10:16

I'll keep everything crossed for you!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 20/02/2009 10:16

Morning!

Just a quick one as friend popping round in a minute. She's due her DC2 end of March and reckons she's got loads of baby clothes and can spare me some!

Sparkly - keeping everything crossed for you here too. Those first few weeks were definitely the hardest for me as you just want to know what's happening.... I'm sure you'll find that your plans to allay the sickness just paid off though. Could you phone the EPAU back and ask them to book you for that scan next week anyway?

Hi everyone else! Will be on again this afternoon after my hair cut

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 20/02/2009 10:23

GYo - that is v v v exciting!!!

tinkislittlemissshopping · 20/02/2009 10:24

morning

hooray for new thread mmm brownies

diege - bracken has been wearing vertbaudet sleepsuits for ages

just managed first trip to a shop with both of them and quinny

lastboxoftampons · 20/02/2009 11:08

Morning everyone

STT I would book an appointment with the EPAU for the end of next week anyway. I'm not sure what they're like by you, but ours offers an early scan automatically if you've had a previous mc. Fingers crossed for you - please try to stay calm, symptoms come and go lots!

Speaking of - LO has been a bit quiet on the kicking front the past two days or so - slightly worrying, but I keep telling myself that it's so little at this point, that's bound to happen at some times.

Diege sorry your appointment was crap!

GYO - how exciting about the pool and it all coming together! It's happening so quickly!

Kay - good luck for your xray

LB {{{{{{{labour vibes}}}}}}} for you! I hope you're feeling better.

Astarte - ouch about your finger! How did you manage to break it? it wasn't during labor was it? Well done on the shopping at two days old! ACcording to my mom, she had me in my grandparents' favorite restaurant at 4 days old!

I'm officially wearing my maternity jeans today! They're over the bump and I thought they'd be ridiculous at this point, but I tried them on this morning and they fit and I can't see them lasting the entire pregnancy, so I figured I'd better get some use out of them now. I've got another outfit that I think makes me look pretty pregnant, so I've vowed that I'm going to start wearing them as I'd rather look pregnant than just like I'm gaining a bit of weight and nearly everyone knows now anyway.

Whew, that was a long one!

Hello! Thanks for new thread GYO! Don't we fill them up quickly
Good luck SPARKLY - I'm sure everything is fine - I often had panicky days when I convinced myself of the worst. I'm sure as others have said your nausea reduction plan is just paying off! Really hope you can get some reassurance from early scan.
Glad to read (in a way!) that others have had such bad service from GPs at hospt appointments. No-one seemed to know how I supposed to book in for my antiD at 28 weeks either - DR said they do it at desk, receptionist said through community midwife , so have made appointment to see midwife just so I can make apointmnent for anti-d at the hospital - mad!! If I wasn't so clued up on what happens when I could easily have slipped throguh the net .
Have been having a bit of a panic again about my 19 week scan - ended up in that awful google spiral of anxiety, and rang ARC who were so reassuring, and despite their 'neutral' stance said that some of the research I'd found was 'rubbish'and they told me that what they'd found on scan (CPCS) were no longer being reported from next year (already not in Wales) if seen in isolation (ie no others markers)as they don't increase risk of problems.
Sorry about 'me' post ; I have been reading and trying to keep up but have been so worried about things these last few days that I've found it hard to keep things in my mind
Am really looking forward to spa tomorrow and Sunday to relax and put a line under my anxieties !!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 20/02/2009 14:56

Hello Diege

Your appointment seemed horrendous - you kind of expect these people to know what they're doing!!! I guess, as you say, that there's more than 1 of us that have had bad experiences so we can't take it personally but it's just not good enough!!!

Spa will be fantastic - enjoy!!

I never thought I'd say this but I'm feeling depressed about curtains! I think I posted the other day that we were getting a quote for getting our lounge, main bedroom and baby's room. That totals an amazing 8 windows and the quote has just arrived - more than £4k!!!!
Not sure how to tell DH.
I'm really disappointed as I really liked what we'd chosen but I know we just can't justify spending that amount. I'm trying not to get upset and am pushing myself into "problem solving" to get through it so I'm currently on the Next made2order site...

Diege · 20/02/2009 15:03

SES, are you sure that's for curtains and not windows!!! We are having a new kitchen and appliances fitted next week and that is just over £4k . Now you have the style/colour etc in mind, could you try shopping around?

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 20/02/2009 15:13

It is looking a lot more reasonable on Next but we have v large awkward shaped windows so will have to make sure measurements are spot on and also will have to choose from their fabrics. Looks like they'll send free samples of what I'm interested in so I'm choosing some at the moment which feels a lot better.

I should have known this other place would have been expensive really as they were recommended to me by my older brother who always seems to think that what I think is extortionate is v reasonable. (He is rolling in it a bit though and owns 4 properties!!)

Me and my 2 brothers are all v different. My poor younger brother can only just afford his 1 bedroom flat which - in totality - is about the size of my older brother's kitchen! Not only am I the middle child, but I think I'm in the middle of their characters!

Anyway, that's enough of my ramblings!! I just should have known better!

Diege · 20/02/2009 15:50

Sounds a good plan B SES. I sippose one other way could be to find a small local place that could be competitive, but Next sounds good too. We are very pleased with the curtains and blinds we have from there.
Am trying to get house straight for wqhen dds get back, but my back is killing me changing the beds etc...Have given up changing sheets on dd1's top bunk - really hard with a bump!

Playingthe9monthwait · 20/02/2009 15:58

Afternoon all,

Been awol for a bit as don't really seem to have been online now I am on Mat leave? Hope everyone is ok?

Astarte, sorry I missed your birth, a belated congratulations!

I had to pop down to the main maternity hospital on Weds for a growth scan. Turns out Fraggle is small currently aprox 5lb 8oz at 37+2 (weight, head and stomach all below 10th percentile although length is ok). Slightly concerning as at my 20 week scan he was between the 50th-55th percentiles, so his growth has slowed right down. Not quite sure what to make of it. Got to see the consultant on Tues. Sure it can't be too serious as both Fraggle and I are well and nearly a week wait to see a consultant must mean they aren't too concerned . Just the unknown now really, not sure if they'll want to get him out ASAP, be happy to leave me but keep an eye on things and make me go to the main hospital or if its no big deal and I can still give birth at my local birthing centre. Tues cant really come round quick enough, I don't like not having an action plan!

Anyhow, that was a very me me me post. Have I missed anything important?

happynappies · 20/02/2009 16:18

Hi everyone - congratulations Astarte!

I still haven't been able to make it on here much, but thank you to whoever updated the due date list - I see I'm now at the top... three days overdue and going crazy waiting. I've been beset by issues - none serious for the baby, but not been in the best of health myself one way or another! I've had this itching condition since November which basically means that I haven't had more than 2 and a half hours sleep in one go since then... I'm apparently allergic to the baby! I've had the tests for choleostasis and they have been clear, so I know its nothing serious, but it does mean that my previously relaxing MN evenings have become a scratch frenzy, and I'm exhausted most of the time. Sorry to go on - just feel I should explain my continued absence!!! I will keep checking in on here - I can't believe how many babies are on the way, and it really is lovely to hear how everyone is doing. Hope everyone is well, and those with wagon babies are enjoying special times with their new arrivals!

Starshinetiger · 20/02/2009 16:18

Hi all quick post so i can find you again later. very slow typing as have sprained my right wrist and having to do everything left-handed. sorry you are so worried STT - is normal no win in early pg - it's awful feeling sick and worrying not to. think crampy pains is normal too as it's you insides adjusting.
diege - of your spa days. sounds lovely.
right, DS and i off outside to hang bird feeder. "see" you all later.

Diege · 20/02/2009 16:19

Hi Playing, good to hear from you! Please don't worry about apparent slow down in baby's growth. I had the same with dd1 - slowed from 50th centile to below 5th by 36 weeks - all was well, and born week early at 7.6Ibs. Everything 'symmetrical' which sounds good (they tend to get concerned if one measurement is way out) so sounds like Fraggles growth is just tapering off a little as many babies do towards end. KNow what you mean about waiting for appointments - just make sure it's the consultant you see and not one of the 'drs'
