Go Trace! I hope baby is out already but if not Good Luck!

Catdean - sorry you have been feeling crap. I was the same last week and I was so scared the baby would come. Lots of people told me your body knows not to go into labour when you are ill and I tried to take comfort from that.

Oli - so pleased to hear you are immune.

Last night's Jalfreezi did nothing other than give me severe heartburn between 1am and 4am. I was glugging Gaviscon and cursing curries but nothing else happened (unless you count getting a bit stuck between two molars which I can't get out and which is causing my whole gum to swell...) I just can't see myself going into labour naturally, I didn't last time. I think I am going to tempt fate by going to Selfridges today. Going into labour while alone in central London scares the life out of me, so sods law means Selfridges might kick things off.

majormoo · 11/12/2008 11:12

Trace good luck

You MIL sounds hysterical Lady T.

Glad homebirth is back on Oli.

Artichokes I am feeling really overdue now-baby was due on Sunday and from being engaged from about 36 weeks, is now floating around 'free' as they put it, perfectly happy where he/she is. Am starting to get the influx of texts/calls asking if I have had the baby yet. I THINK I WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT. Oh well. Getting my haircut later so at least have something relaxing to do.

My DS also said b@gger the other day-hard not to laugh. About 6months ago when we were in the car DD said 'mummy, what does 'for f@ck's sake mean' to which I piously said 'and where have you heard that?' Of course she said 'you'!

abbymeg · 11/12/2008 11:54

I'm going to whinge, and then I'm going to read what I've missed. Sorry in advance for me, me, me post.

I am very fed-up. I was woken by really strong pain at 4.15, and after a couple more I got up and timed them. They were every five minutes, only 15-20secs, and gathering in intensity, although I didn't think they were really strong enough to be proper contractions. So, I rang hospital to be on the safe side and they wanted me in. Got there and was monitored and checked; MW felt that the pains are coming from the baby attempting to engage (good luck if it's head is the same size as DDs!), but because my cervix hasn't changed I was sent home to wait until section on Monday. (If my cervix had started to change, they'd have taken me straight to theatre.) MW gave me cocodamol to take to stop the pain and try to get some rest. I was reluctant to take it, but pains got quite sharp in the taxi so had one when I got in. They don't touch the pains, can't sleep for them and now I feel a bit stoned and sick from the tablet. I'm very weary at the thought of another 3 days stuck like this.

What I wouldn't give for a show!

I asked about breathlessness yesterday - just in case anyone else gets it, the MW said it's because the womb pushes upwards during a contraction, and because I'm carrying a mega-baby, it makes it feel hard to breathe. Again, just another of the joys.

hattyyellow · 11/12/2008 11:54

Oli so glad you are immune - that's great news!

Arti sorry the curry didn't work -a friend told me a few months ago though that she had a ridicuously hot curry to try and start things off and went into labour sooo uncomfy with a really bloated, runny, gassy tummy - which doesn't sound ideal when you're doing something as physical as labour!

Hope the Selfridges trip helps but that things hold off until you're safely home!

Drama here was doctor doing a routine check on me yesterday and being concerned there was very little movement from the baby the last few days. Dropped DD's with a lovely friend and her DD's and got sent straight up to hospital for a few hours of monitoring, during which they became concerned that there was too much movement! All settled down in the end, but found it very hard to wind down last night.

My mum arrives today, so baby is welcome to come any time from 2pm as we now have in-house childcare! No sign of any contractions on the monitoring though - I so want this baby to come before Christmas!

hattyyellow · 11/12/2008 11:55

Abbey you poor thing, sending huge hugs your way.

abbymeg · 11/12/2008 12:05

Hatty thank you for hugs - they are needed! I'm pleased everything's okay with you and the baby.

Trace Good luck! I'm pleased it's finally happening for you.

Olli fantastic news ! Hopefully you can rest and relax now for the rest of pg.

arti I tried the curry route at the weekend (chickpea masala made with about three green chillies from our Indian) and I have much sympathy for the early morning curry-heartburn It was agony! Seems like such a promising idea at the time...

zoejeanne · 11/12/2008 12:07

Hi everyone, another day, another new thread!! Have tried to catch up from both, but apologies if I?ve missed anything.

Turnip ? I also don?t think I?ll be popping on this thread either, still feeling completely normal (just big and tired)

LOL at everyone?s childrens swear words ? I bet the little monkeys knew exactly what they were doing and secretly thinking ?ha ha, mummy will be so embarrassed if I shout this right now?

Verso ? how are you feeling today? I hope the chat (on MN and with friends) and chocolate did the trick yesterday? Oh, and I?m the maya gold fan, and also have a bar of the ginger one in the pantry (that should probably be started on today, just in case it might go off).

LadyT ? at least you survived the day with MIL and have some good tales to tell from it ? can?t decide which is my favourite (or which would have made me the most angry)

Trace ? yay for the big owww in the middle of the night, hoping to hear good news soon And Nolda ? sorry to hear it fizzled out last night, good luck with that floor!

On names, we haven?t told anyone our shortlist and my Mum just said this week ? ?whatever you call baby, I just hope I can spell it? ? glad she trusts me ?

Katie and LadyT both seem be thinking about a bit of loving ? the trick to regaining your libido must be a planned CS, I can?t imagine myself ever getting the urge again! to you both (and your DP?s!)

Kayz ? your dream is amazing, I?m crying with laughter now, love it!

Oli ? yay for immunity, that?s great news

Arti ? good luck for Selfridges and sods law today

Abbey ? you poor thing, I hope either babyAbbey stops trying to engage or something happens sooner so they have to act. It doesn?t sound fun for you.

I?m feeling very tired today, but want to achieve something on my jobs list ? like the Christmas tree maybe (it?s been stood in the corner of the lounge for 3 days without any decorations, it looks very sad). Have a good day everyone xx

JamInMyWellies · 11/12/2008 12:41

Right PIL rant coming up, feel free to ignore.

So we asked PIL to look after A when I went into labor as they are the closest to us obviously I would prefer my parents but my mum cant drive anymore and they live a good hour and half away. Anyway, just seen them this morning and I was saying you know if it happens during the day I would prefer A to not be at home as I dont want to labor with A running around and they said they would just sit in the living room with him they know if I am in the house A will not go to them so it would be better for them to take him out or go to their house. AArrgghh I told them all this months ago there is no way I want them and Archie here when I am in labor and now they are being huffy about taking him out FFS. Why is nothing ever simple. I have already had to deal with SIL being stroppy about them looking after A this is really not what I need right now to be panicing that they dont actually want to look after A. At this rate I will end up keeping him with me and having him swimming in the birthing pool with me.

Right off to catch up and find out if anymore bubbas have arrived overnight.

Olipop · 11/12/2008 12:41

Just been shopping and got some bits for DH so at least I wont be empty handed on Christmas morning ...phew!

Abbey That doesn't sound much fun you poor thing.

Off to cook up a storm for the freezer but will be popping back on at convenient points so keep me entertained! xx

Olipop · 11/12/2008 12:43

Oh God Jam that is crap...I have a fear of DS being asleep in bed whilst I'm in mid throws and getting up and seeing things a delicate child shouldn't be subjected to. But if you have made your fears clear then the PIL should really damn well do as you ask.

zoejeanne · 11/12/2008 12:43

oh bummer - the glass in our oven door has just shattered, and it's out of warranty (just). Double bummer. The repair man is coming on Monday - please send no labour vibes until Tuesday! At least we have another oven, so don't have to live off cold food, but just bummer.

JamInMyWellies · 11/12/2008 12:57

How exciting OLi am so glad you are immune.

Hatty, Abby what a nightmare. I too have been panicing a bit about movements as the bubba has really quietend down especially in the morning when it used ot be very active I asked the MW on Monday and she said its just there is not so much room anymore.

Trace lots of luck hope we hear some news soon.

IceCube · 11/12/2008 12:57

I'm having no action on the pregnancy front (not even BHs) but all this talk of chocolate has made me realise I am being a toblerone monster at the moment. My local shop has the 100g bars and they dissapear pretty sharpish

Having been booked in for a 40+ 10day scan/sweep at hospital (before I even reached my due date) and bearing in mind I really want a home birth I have been looking into natural induction methods. One that sounds appealling is reflexology, I think thats just a type of foot massage so not sure why it would help labour start but I am tempted to try to book one as it sounds better than a sweep.

LittleDonkeyCarrieMary · 11/12/2008 13:14

TraceFace has had her baby!!

Phoebe Martha was born at 10:17am, 7lb 3oz. I'll update you with more details if/when I get them!

JollyBear · 11/12/2008 13:16

Hello everyone,

ladyT How rude of your HV! You've given your DD a beautiful name but it isn't any of her business if you'd called her Spacebiscuit or Bruno. Give her the slut cup next time

Congrats to modernlove, allie, penny and snorris . So many babies are arriving now.

hotmama You are sharing your section date with Abby and me. Good luck for Monday!

katie Hurray you got the GD all clear. Hope the galaxy was yummy. I do have a fondness for a galaxy ripple... mmmm.

trace Good luck, it sure sounds like you are going to return to the thread with a baby.

cat Poor you. Hope the antibiotics work their magic and you feel better soon.

abby That sounds dreadful. I hope things improve .

olipop That's great news. You can relax now. Enjoy your afternoon cooking, I'm going to be doing the same - a final push to stock up the freezer.

I've been putting the shopping away and managed to knock a little bottle of food colouring out of the cupboard, the lid dislodged when it bounced and now my kitchen is green. The cupboard fronts were spattered, the worktop covered, my jumper and jeans. Damn my clumsy nature and thank goodness for Jif/Cif!

Kimberly1979 · 11/12/2008 13:21

YAY Traceface congratulations!!!

emmanbump · 11/12/2008 13:21

Woo Hoo well done Trace. Jam sorry to hear you PIL are being so annoying. Is there anyone else you can ask to look after A?

Oli great news re your immunity and good luck with all the cooking.

Abbey hope pains stop or that something happens.

Zoe sorry to hear about your oven. Lucky you have another!!

I'm suffering from lack of choc. I cannot keep any in the house as I have to eat it straight away. Might venture out and get some (looks out of the window and wishes the shop was closer. . . .) (fhmm)

modernlove · 11/12/2008 13:21

Mibbes - Having read back to catch up abit I think my breast feeding problems were quite similar to yours. He could latch on but would then either not suck hard enough, fall asleep or become absolutely hysterical. I think he is still traumatised from his experiences in hospital when different MWs would try to force him onto breast when he was screaming. Now he just seems to look at my breast and get upset. Advisor came out today and seems to think anyone can breast feed with a nipple protector and that she was then having success at 4weeks age with taking the protector away and getting breastfeeding going. Am not too hopeful but going to give it a go. Managing to express aout 80mls per sitting so using less and less formula.
Thank you to everyone else for your supportive messages. Verso am not fully sure how I feel about it. A bit dazed, wondering if it has affected feeding, wondering when can walk again without being in agony and wondering if I could ever go through it again.
Good luck to everyone else and hope the people not feeling so good are ok.
Good luck with Christmas tree ZJ - am hoping my DH will get ours this week!

simmo14 · 11/12/2008 13:23

Congrats trace face
That is great news- that was qute a quick labour.
Going to catch up on the new thread now.

Olipop · 11/12/2008 13:32

Wahoo Traceface!!! Beautiful name!! Well done girl!

babblington · 11/12/2008 13:32

hello - had 6.15oz baby boy this morning at 4.20, as yet nameless. home by 8.30am. 18 days early.

kayzisexpecting · 11/12/2008 13:53

YAY for Trace and Babblington

MW was running an hour late today! I am a bit annoyed as my consultant rang her to ask her to talk me out of HB. She told him to pee off(not using those words) and that having a HB was no different from having him at Malton.

I have done far too much walking today. I've got a stitch in my side which is quite uncomfy. But it might have done me some good.

Hope everyone is ok this afternoon, I might go sleep now. The walk has really taken it out of me.

Olipop · 11/12/2008 13:54

oooh babblington....everyone is popping....you lucky thing! I want an early one!!!! Well done you!
