Turniphead1 · 11/12/2008 20:23

Ooooh another baby!! Someone just posted on our old thread that Hiccymapops has done just that (popped I mean). No other details.

Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 21:01

so with hiccy, babbs, & trace does that make our most productive day. Someone mentioned that earlier.

Well done Rosemerta shame you didn't get your homebirth but he's out and healthy hooray. And breastfeeding welldone you.

You guys have been so busy, again I can't remember everything.

Right I am going to get into my butterscotch G&Bs.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 11/12/2008 21:08

My DH has stopped annoying me now. He says that the Butterscotch G&Bs is the best.

I am on a sex ban, MW wasn't sure if it is my waters leaking or just extra discharge but to be on the safe side to not have sex.

Hiccy Congratulations!!

My bump feels awfully tight tonight and my back aches. I'm not sure if it means something could happen or if its just normal pregnany niggles.

Hope everyone is good and has a decent nights sleep.

LadyThompson · 11/12/2008 21:19

Right, back again briefly.

Katie, I was told no (penetrative) sex until I had stopped bleeding/or six weeks check, whichever is the sooner. Advice which I ignored earlier in the week but stopped after a few minutes as I felt funny (which I think was mainly in my head). Other stuff...well, again, it made me feel a bit funny but I will be perservering Email me if you want more gory details. I would hate to put anyone off their supper. I don't really want to ask my health visitor because it really is the last thing I wish to discuss with her. Mibbes, apart from no driving (I should be so lucky) I was also told no baths for a good month, only showers, and no lifting anything heavier than the babe. How are you feeling now?

CONGRATS to Rosmerta (so sorry you didn't get the homebirth you wanted but glad you are all safe), Babblington (good heavens! That's quite early but nice to have it all done before Christmas) and Trace (another pretty name!)

Oli - I am SOOOO glad about the immunity, huzzah.

Verso, I bet your Mum is a heck of a lot prouder of you than you think

Yes, I think KMP was having her section today, wasn't she? I hope she has got on ok with her phobia of needles, the poor love.

Turnip, you need lots of treats. Get thee to Selfridges. Or go there online and buy something lovely. Doesn't have to be big. A Chanel nailpolish, par example...

Lal, I have read Easter Parade. Is that the one about the alcoholic? Such a brilliant writer but a massive downer. Ooooh, I would love to read a good book. Any recommendations of the RIchard Yates ilk?

Jolly, you made me laugh. Bruno and Spacebiscuit

Jam, not surprised you don't want the stress of worrying about your DS whilst you give birth. How thoughtless people are

WG - congratulations on your graduation. I admire Patrick Marber's work but a pig of a man imo.

DD has been a bit fractious today. Well, she's a newborn, why shouldn't she be. But I feel a bit frazzled as a result so off to relax now. Night you all xxx

Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 21:23

oh....my....oh....oh.....my......I am in love.

I can't remember who originally mentioned the butterscotch g&b but I am forever in your debt, it is amazing. Poor DH went upstairs and when he came down I had eaten 3/4 of the block. He has made off with the remainder now.

Katz I've been tight since lastnight and still got the backache.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 11/12/2008 21:25

Maybe we'll be full moon mummy's Veggie

reban · 11/12/2008 21:26

well indian takeaway has just made me feel even more huge and bloated then normal, which i didnt think was possible at this stage.

Off to bed now and will deal with the consequences later - either sudden onset of labour (i should be so lucky) or massive amounts of overnight heartburn (much more likely!)

xx

Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 21:33

oh wouldn't that be cool 2 little homebirth Gooners born on the same day.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 11/12/2008 21:40

It would be marvellous.

Ooooh I had something to show you. Look!! How cute is that!!

Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 22:04

we saw them when we were at the shop at arsenal last time.

Katz does your back hurt more at night. Mine is fine during the day but about this time of night it gets really achy around the middle of my back.

katie3677 · 11/12/2008 22:12

LadyT I have emailed you, I want the gory details if you don't mind sharing. I also am loathe to ask the MW/HV and it's not that I'm desperate or anything, it is more that if poor DH doesn't get some soon, he'll be expecting relief of another form, and I have never really been a fan!

poisondwarf · 11/12/2008 22:44

Random catch-up from me ? loads of stuff I meant to reply to but I must have missed tons.

Congrats to penny, Allie, modernlove, snorris, trace, babblington, rosmerta, hiccy and anyone else who might have popped since I was last on. Wow, it's really getting going now isn't it?

LadyT loved your HV story ? she sounds like a classic. And no prizes for guessing what your non-chocolate vice is, given your scandalous mug collection and quite frankly disturbing enthusiasm for getting back in the saddle so quickly after the birth. Just had a rifle through our mugs and the raunchiest one I could find said 'Hackney Homes ? Building Excellence'. Just about says it all really. Also loving the MILisms ? keep 'em coming everyone. Mine is similar to yours Jam ? I was priming DS for introducing him to the baby the other day by pointing at my belly and saying ?Where's the baby gone?? when DP's mum pipes up (in DS's voice) ?What do you mean where's it gone? It's still there?. I suppose she has a point ? I'm starting to think the ?are you sure it isn't twins?? comments are actually more appropriate now than when I was pregnant...

Trace also loved your 'confession' to never having tried G&B choc followed in the same post by an idle mention of your crush on Philip Schofield & Shaky ... hang on, something not quite right there!

arti ? spooky that you've considered Nina Camille - what can I say, we have great taste in names! Looking forward to hearing your final choice.

Verso I am watching with interest how you are getting on with the feeding and quietly cheering you on. Although it got off to a good start for me, I'm suffering now ? sympathies with all the others struggling. Every time I read of you having a good night or a good feed I keep reminding myself that you're 11 days ahead of me, so keep up the good work! By the way, can't remember what you said about the silverettes ? did you try them in the end and are they any good? Have managed to get a referral to a tongue tie clinic on Tuesday ? not sure if she is tongue-tied or not but am going to get it looked at by an expert anyway.

wg congrats on your graduation

jj & Beans - lovely pics.

oli great news about the immunity.

Jam that is really crap of your PILs ? that was my worst fear, having DP's parents and DS hanging around the flat while I was in labour, but I just came out and said it to them straight that I didn't want anyone around and it worked.

Sorry to hear about all you pg ladies who are feeling fed up. God it's only 5 days ago since I was pg and it feels like forever! Can't quite get my head around people still not having started mat leave yet either ... work seems a lifetime ago.

DS (20 months) has been great with the new baby so far. At first he was getting upset when I fed the baby or DP changed her, and we were assuming that he was resenting the attention we were giving her, but actually as the week has gone on we've realised that he's getting upset at us because he thinks we're making her cry and he's just being protective. He's also started pulling out all the stops to hog the limelight ? he's suddenly discovered he can recite Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa Baa Black Sheep from beginning to end, as well as counting to 10. On the other hand, he has also become fond of bursting into the room with his arms flung wide shouting 'Fuck off!'. I blame CBeebies. He did something that really tickled me yesterday ? the Makaton sign for pig is a fist held in front of your nose and moved in a circular motion. He leaned over the baby yesterday and did the sign in front of her nose and said oink oink. She does have a particularly turned up nose ? I keep thinking of the Duchesses pig baby in Alice in Wonderland now. I think it's going to be loads of fun with 2.

Was going to catch up on other stuff as well (not least my birth story ? must get round to it) but I think it'll have to wait.

kmp1 · 11/12/2008 23:04

Sorry all - haven't been on here for ages!! Family arrived and also baby boy Benjamin on Wed -7lb 12! he's lovely! Both of us great! Home today - Will catch up tomorrow!! Congrats to all others!!!!

poisondwarf · 11/12/2008 23:07

Well done kmp and welcome Benjamin!

Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 23:32

hooray Kmp great name too. But isn't that a bit early to be going home after CS I hope you are going to be well looked after at home. Well done on growing such a good sized boy.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 11/12/2008 23:34

PD your DSs antics cracked me up esp the fuck off with arms outstretched, although not sure how he got that from cbeebies I am def watching the wrong time of day.

OP posts:
Turniphead1 · 11/12/2008 23:49

KMP delighted to hear of the safe arrival of baby Benjamin.

Invisible how are you doing? I felt so sorry for you earlier. I feel kind of the same (like everything is falling out of my pelvic floor and how can I do another 2/3 weeks...) but not as bad as you. Really hope you turn a corner tomorrow (or the baby comes!)

PD lovely to hear from you. Your DS sounds so cute! It's lovely watching them together. Hope DD doesn't have tongue tie and the feeding improves - but if anyone can stick at it I know you can (having heard the detail of your first experience . Hope you get some rest tonight.

ladyT hope DD settles and you have a good night.

I need to go out and get some buttercotch G&B. Have a big bar of the milk choc in my birth bag. Wouldn't put money on it staying there without needing to be replaced. A lot.

Just watched Star Stories Heather Mills. Hilarious! But very naughty....hurt my bottom when I laughed (tmi, sorry)

Off to my scratcher.

Turniphead1 · 11/12/2008 23:51

Sorry I meant Disenchanted not Invisible Durrr

poisondwarf · 11/12/2008 23:59

Turnip I'm just watching it now - brilliant.

Turniphead1 · 12/12/2008 00:04

PD it's so baaad to be laughing at it. I saw her in St Johns Wood t'other day. She looked fabulous.

poisondwarf · 12/12/2008 00:06

Actually Turnip I'm hoping she does have tongue tie - when I took DS to get his snipped the mothers of the 1-2 week old babies got immediate relief. If it's not that then I dread to think how I'm going to manage.

Turniphead1 · 12/12/2008 00:11

Oh you poor thing. That makes sense - ie its an actual identifiable problem you can solve. Have you had a look - does there seem to be an extra bit of skin/ligament? I know it can be hard to see depending on the degree of tie.

poisondwarf · 12/12/2008 00:25

Yes there's definitely something there but it's nothing like as obvious as DS's was. I don't know what a normal baby's mouth looks like though! The midwife today said she didn't think it was tongue tie and the hospital didn't mention it - but hey, what do they know? She can actually extend her tongue but doesn't seem to be able to do it whilst breastfeeding (or at least it seems that way). It feels exactly like it did with DS, but perhaps not quite as bad (although the pain and damage is cumulative and we're only 5 days in). It might be that she's not tongue tied and this is just normal pain & damage which will get better over the next few days, but again I don't really have a frame of reference. If things don't improve in the next few days then at least I've got Tuesday's appointment to aim towards. In the meantime I am up to my eyeballs with painkillers.

She has lost weight (not a massive amount, just 5 or 6 percent so far) and the midwife has advised me to cup feed her. I'd rather not as it's time consuming enough just feeding her on the breast without expressing and cup feeding as well (very difficult to keep her awake) and I don't want to mess with my supply. Has anyone any thoughts or suggestions?

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 06:25

Morning.

Kmp Congratulations on baby Benjamin!

Veggie My back pain sounds the same as yours. It is fine during the day and then about 9 at night it comes on. Then by morning it has pretty much gone.

Well today is D-Day. After everyone in RL telling me this baby would defintly(sp) be early, he isn't. I am tempted by the reflexology but I'm not sure if there is anywhere here that would do it. Would DH massaging my feet with Clary Sage do the same thing?

Hope everyone is ok this morning.

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 08:18

Can I do a Trace style oooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww please?
