Update on the sickly SA household: I was still feeling really rough with cough yesterday, nauseous and exhausted. Suddenly realised at lunchtime baby had been really quiet (I've been wearing a foetal kick count bracelet since 40 weeks and she's normally done 10 by lunch, had only done one), so straight down to delivery suite for monitoring. Turns out I am actually unwell ... I had slight temp, bloods showed infection somewhere which we are assuming is the cough, and baby's heartrate was described as 'really very high'. Felt v. irresponsible having assumed all weekend I was 'just' feeling pregnant!
They put me up on the ward, fortunately heartrate and temperature settled down after paracetamol, fluids and an afternoon doing nothing on the bed, so managed to get home in time for ds' bedtime - under strict instructions to have lots of rest, fluids and 6-hourly paracetamol, so have been doing that today. Discussed anti-bs but there aren't many I can actually take and dr. agreed it is probably a viral cough anyway so we decided against for now.
Still feel quite rough - no appetite or energy - but temperature OK, baby moving and coughing subsiding with rest. Back at hospital tomorrow for antenatal clinic - this might affect my choices about induction though - don't know if baby is better off staying in another couple of days to give me a chance to get better, or better off coming out sooner. Terrible timing to get a cough!!
Dp still unwell and now incredibly stressed too; ds now on antibiotics and had seeping ear swabbed yesterday to check for nasties. Baby is going to need loads of colostrum to thrive in this germ pit ... (Essie I never leaked at all then had oversupply when my milk came in so don't worry!)
On plus side: had a small show Monday night and another small one this afternoon, so my recalcitrant cervix must be doing something right!
Thinking of Josey and family, good that Olivia is still making progress, wish we could do more for you all but hope that being a sounding board helps a bit.
