(waves at Jollybear, so she's not sitting over here on the new thread all alone )

hiccymapops · 23/04/2008 11:25

Yay a second thread We'll feel like old pregnant people soon

Morning everyone

artichokes and minster i'm sorry you're both feeling so poorly. Hope you both pick up soon.

hattyyellow i've been concerned about the same thing too. Ben's only 20 months, but he's the size of a 3 year old (he's a chunky little monkey ) I' still picking him up and lugging him around though. I am trying to stop him kicking me in the stomach as much though

Hope everyone else is okay.

I've got my first midwife appointment on the 7th of May, which will make me about 9 weeks. It was the same with Ben, so i didn't end up having my dating scan until i was about 14 weeks. Hope they get me in earlier this time.

ChutneyMary · 23/04/2008 13:21

Am so tired. Just having a quick diet coke to perk me up. Tea and coffee have gone for me now as they taste funny.

Saw Dr this am and am to go to have a scan tomorrow as I am unsure re dates. I'll keep you posted. My symptoms go from manageable to awful within hours, so i keep thinking it's all gone wrong but then I feel pants so feel reassured! Hatty, am deeply impressed by twins and no symptoms! If I have 2 HBs tomorrow, i'll keel over. 4 children under 3 - yikes!

Am at work today but not teaching and it's a damn sight easier than running round after the kids all day. Perhaps I should up my hours to full time for a bit of a rest .

Would it be a good idea to have a separate stats thread for due dates etc as otherwise the thread becomes huge very quickly? Just a thought.

Hope you are all OK today.

Verso · 23/04/2008 13:31

Disenchanted I started feeling nauseous this time around 7 weeks, which is the same time I started feeling nauseous with DD.

hattyyellow I'm still lifting my DD - but she's a hefty just-three year old and I am starting to think I shouldn't. (She's always been 90th-95th percentile for weight and height - ever since she was born - so you can imagine the size!

ChutneyMary - good luck with the scan tomorrow. My next one isn't til next Friday and it feels like ages away .

ChutneyMary · 23/04/2008 13:42

Verso, my DD is 3 as well and weighs a tonne! Sometimes I end up carrying her and DD2 together! I'll have arms like a russian shotputter at this rate.

I can't remember why you were having scans either - have you had some bleeding? I hope all is well. The wait and anxiety are very hard to manage, aren't they?

Verso · 23/04/2008 13:49

I'm having scans because my last two pgs ended in missed miscarriages around 8 weeks (first one discovered at nuchal scan, second one discovered at 9w6d scan, having seen a heartbeat at around 7 weeks). I'm really nervous - but trying to keep busy and not dwell. Easier said than done though!

(Totally understand what you mean re the shotputter-style arms. Yup. Same here >tests biceps

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 14:06

hi all, found you hiding here!

On the last thread someone (can't remember who sorry) was asking about lack of symptoms, with ds I didn't have any symptoms at all. I've had a couple this time though!

Katie3677 · 23/04/2008 14:09

Found you...
Feeling really rough today which both consoles me and worries me. I had no ms with DS at all, but did feel exactly like this when pregnant with last mc.
Have just had an argument with the Dr on the phone, her saying there is no point me having an early scan, me saying my peace of mind is worth it and the outcome is that I have one next Friday . However I am now scared Sh**less in case they can't see what they should see. I will either be 5 weeks or 8 weeks by then, depending on whose calculations you look at! What's the earliest anyone has ever had a scan, and could you see much?

nandos · 23/04/2008 14:32

Lolz- its me who asked abt lack of symptoms rosmerta i guess its normal for some women not to have pregnancy symptoms cant wait to have my first appt with m/w in 2 weeks time..

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 14:34

sorry nandos !

nandos · 23/04/2008 14:44

no problem rosmerta- no need for apology. i cant remember much who's who after coming back from a wk vacation too..except the usual names i used to chat with

JollyBear · 23/04/2008 15:01

Hello everyone,

I had a rubbish trip to the GP this morning who moaned about sensitive pregnancy tests, told me most pregnancy sickness is psychosymatic and then insisted they sent a urine sample off to the lab to make sure . Has anyone else been tested by their GP or am I special?

The pregnancy book I ordered arrived today .

Anyone finding their memory is all over the place. I'm forgetting all sorts of things. I went to put some washing on earlier and found a load already there, damp and starting to get smelly.

ChutneyMary · 23/04/2008 15:05

Verso, I am so sorry about your MMC. You must be up the wall with worry. I have had eadly scans with both my girls and found the HB reassuring. It didn't occur to me that it could then go wrong. I won't say "try not to worry" but be kind to yourself and try to take things easy, for your peace of mind. I'll keep everything crossed.

Katie with DD1 I had a scan early (about 6 weeks) and they could see a sac but nothing in it. In that hosp they wouldn't do a scan before 6 as there might not be anythign to see but everything could still be OK IYSWIM. I jsut had lots of blood tests before then.

Katie3677 · 23/04/2008 15:18

ChutneyMary did they get you back in fairly quickly for more scans after your early scan didn't show much though? I guess I'm worried about being told that they can't really see anything and then having to wait for my 12 week scan to know if everything is ok.
I must stop worrying I know, just so nervous about it all going wrong again.

EffiePerine · 23/04/2008 15:24

May I join you? Found out I was pregnant again at the weekend, have a little trouble remembering when my last period was but after a bit of counting on fingers reckon I am due at the end of December - some time between Xmas Eve and NY Eve. That'll be fun then .

Still bfing DS (18mo) so was a bt surprised to be pg already, givne that we've only been trying (in a vague fashion) for a couple of months.

EffiePerine · 23/04/2008 15:28

Just looked through list: MaeWest am I imagining thins or were you on the Oct 06 thread?

simmo14 · 23/04/2008 15:39

Hi again. Been away from the computer for a few days! Just found the new thread. Congrats to the new BFP's.
As far as symtoms go, I did not have any with my DS (now 19 months) but just the odd ms especially when hungry and so tired all the time. In fact I have just woken up from a nap after sneaking off work early. Now feel very guily that I should be using my free time doing something more constructive!

Any news from sureitno3? Were you going to test again today? Fingers crossed for BFP.

minster · 23/04/2008 15:58

EffiePerine, I'm due around the same time & still breastfeeding my 18mo. We'd been trying since my periods started back, but I only pg after night weaning him

JollyBear many (most?) GPs are shit when it comes to pregancy. I didn't see mine at all last time (and have since been taken off the list so I don't even have one now) - I contact the SOM and book direct with them.

Feeling a bit calmer - sure it was a bug, I've managed to eat something now & don't feel so desperate.

abbymeg · 23/04/2008 16:37

JollyBear I think we've had our fill of crappy doctors this week. Drs used to test to confirm pregnancy, but I don't think they all do now - I think it's quite funny they've sent a sample off to the lab though. They used to just test it there and then. Obviously not in the GP job description anymore! As for the morning sickness being psychosymatic - think this is marginally better than the "most pregnancies aren't viable and don't make it to 12 weeks anyway" comment from my sweetheart of a GP - what a charmer!

hiccymapops · 23/04/2008 16:53

OH MY GOD abbeymeg That's disgusting for him to say that to you! Just what you want to hear

artichokes · 23/04/2008 16:56

Lol - I kept checking the old thread all day and thinking how quiet everyone was. Now I realise why.

Well the meeting I was so worried about being ill in was horrid. And I had to run out in the middle. As a result my boss asked me directly if I was pregnant. So the secret is out, which is not good as I want to hide this from senior management until I can sit a promotion board in June. Ho hum.

minster glad you are feeling a bit better. So am I. I guess that is morning sickness for you.

mibbes · 23/04/2008 17:44

artichokes I did that too ! I thought everyone had got bored of posting !
Oh it is so reassuring to hear of lack of symptoms I love this thread for info sharing.
JB which book did you buy ? I have several..!

abbymeg · 23/04/2008 17:45

Hiccymapops it was a lady. I know that shouldn't make it worse in the world of gender equality.. Long story short, I had an operation with a general anesthetic and lots of painkillers, and then found out I was pg (I posted on pregnancy about GA and ibruprofen). When I went to doctor on monday, she made me feel like I was a walking miscarriage. She didn't give me any advice or work out my dates or anything.

All the lovely ladies on the 2ww thread on conception (where some of us hail from) have been reassuring me for the past couple of days!

I'm just trying to take each day as it comes, and any symptoms are reassuring.

hiccymapops · 23/04/2008 17:55

abbeymeg i'm so sorry she was so awful. I'm sure some people don't realise the harm they do when they open their mouths, and if they do, that makes it worse. You should definately try and change doctors! I'm sure everything's fine. I know someone that didn't know she was pregnant for the first 5 months, she still had periods and no symptoms. Needless to say she did everything she shouldn't while pregnant and the baby was fine. Don't worry yourself xxx
